Dumpling Master - Review - Decatur - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"Don’t let the robot servers fool you into thinking everything is machine-made here. Dumpling Master isn’t false advertising. Real dumpling masters expertly pleat the food in front of you. Order via QR code at the table—be sure to get the plump pork and chive potstickers or the pan-fried pork buns bursting with juice. Afterward, grab plates and utensils from the self-service counter, and then enjoy the show. Kids also love this Decatur Chinese restaurant since it offers a decent selection of refreshing bubble teas to wash everything down." - Candy Hom

Google
I really enjoyed my visit here. Arriving. I was told to sit anywhere and the server who said she just goes by V, brought me a menu to look at and then you have to scan a QR code on the napkin dispenser. You'll see a picture of that. And then you order online and they'll bring it out to you. Very simple, very easy and efficient. So I was by myself so I tried the onion pancakes and they were very thin and crisp. Excellent. I had both the vinegar sauce and the hot chili oil on them. Very tasty. The reason they came here was because they make their own dumplings right here. I chose the veggie dumplings pan fried. Next time I think I will try the soup dumplings. But my dumplings were great and the sauce that comes with it was perfect. The veggies were crisp inside and the the skins were done quite well. As far as atmosphere, the restaurant is clean. Neat and efficient. You can order to go and wait for it or you can sit and eat. One nice thing that stuck out for me is that if you have a Togo order it's put in a bag with handles. Thanks and the bag inside has a foil type lining to keep your dinner warm while you take it home. Very nice..

Google
Wow! This is my first dumpling Master experience. I loved it! I had the scallion pancakes the pork and scallion dumplings and the wonton with Chili's. Each one was fabulous! Really great staff very attentive. I love that you can order at your table with your phone. I'm in the neighborhood so I'll be back often!!

Google
Been wanting to try this place since it opened and it was delicious!! We ordered the wonton soup, pork steamed dumplings, beef sheng jian bao and the mapo tofu. Drinks were on point as well! They have indoor and outdoor seating and you order through a QR code. Staff were friendly and happy to answer questions. So glad to have this great, reasonably priced option near by!!

Google
The food was very tasty and had generous portion sizes. We got the garlic green beans, chicken fried rice, pork soup dumplings, BBQ pork buns, pork chili wontons, and the sesame balls. Everything was delicious and I especially loved the pork chili wontons!

Google
We had never heard of this Dumpling chain but see it we had to give it a try. Impressive menu. Excellent friendly staff And Great food. We are glad we stopped. I had never tried Soup Dumplings but at the suggestion of one of the staff I did and totally enjoyed them. If you are thinking about coming to this restaurant.... do it!!!

Google
Visiting Atlanta for the weekend and wanted to get some Chinese food. We picked Dumpling Master based on the Google Reviews and it lived up to its high ratings. We got there about 8 PM and managed to be seating quickly in the last available table. The servers were very friendly and for most of our meal checked on us frequently. Make sure you bring a smart phone: there is a QR code at the table that you use to order. They bring out a hard copy menu to help you make selections, but you order on your phone. Easy enough. There is a diverse selection of options. The food started coming out fairly quickly. My wife wanted spring rolls and they came out in under 5 minutes. They were very fresh, very tasty, and hot (temp, not spicy). We ordered pan fried beef dumplings, pork soup dumplings, bbq pork filled buns dim sum, chicken fried rice, and Szechuan chicken. Everything was freshly prepared - no reheated frozen food here. The food came out in waves piping hot as it was finished in the kitchen. Everything was flat out delicious except the Szechuan chicken (which was good, but not great in our opinion). I honestly think that was the best chicken fried rice I've ever had. The dumplings and dim sum were top notch and I honestly can't imagine how they could better. At approximately $16/person this was a great meal. I only gave 4 stars on the service because towards the end of our meal they didn't refill our water for a while, which given the spicy Szechuan chicken was noticeable! On the atmosphere side this is a basic restaurant in a strip mall - so you shouldn't be expecting anything fancy. The food was great and that's what matters. I would absolutely return if given the opportunity.

Google
Absolutely fabulous food in a contemporary setting. Spices were spectacular and fresh. All our dishes from Hot spicy soup to dim sum were fresh and delicious. Many items are made by the Master Chef behind a glass partition. The only issue we had was the method of ordering which required a menus to be dropped off and the customer access the ordering through your phone and an RQ code. Ordering was cumbersome and took over 5 minutes and at one point were thought were we’re ordering through Uber Eats!!! It is also very hard to ask questions about the dishes with the limited staff. Cost is about $20 per person.

Google
We ordered by scanning a QR code at the table after being promptly seated with menus. Everything was delicious—the jasmine green fruit tea, hot & sour soup, BBQ pork bun, pan-fried pork & chive dumplings, and Szechuan spicy chicken were all standouts. The house-made dumpling sauce was a perfect touch. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Nick. Can’t wait to return!

Yelp
This order is based on delivery Have been wanting to try since they opened finally decided to order We got the pork soup dumplings, beef Bao, garlic bok choy and Szechuan spicy chicken. Order was ready for driver to pick up snd delivery in a very timely fashion They delivered it in a reusable insulated back every thing was package perfect and hot upon arrival. Was very impressed with their thought into packaging for delivery Every thing was very good . Great option close by when not feeling like driving to Buford Hwy Will be ordering again

Yelp
Very casual fast foody place that order from an app and have single use utensils The xlb was pretty legit. The pan fried dumplings 生煎包was ok as the dough was too thick. Also got the 辣子鸡 (chicken thigh fried hard with dried chilis), it was good and not too spicy. The garlic string beans 四季豆was ok as not tasting too much garlic flavor. Loved the boba teas and I think the service was pretty attentive too. But think the food is overhyped

Yelp
I came here for dinner at like 7pm on a Friday, and it was packed. We had to wait about 15-20 min so while we did, we put our drink orders in. We tried the Oreo smoothie (tastes just like Oreos), mango smoothie, taro milk tea with tapioca (could be sweeter), and coconut smoothie (mild with tad bit of coconut flavor). The szechaun fried chicken was pretty good with a real Szechuan flavor. Dumplings were decent, better than when I had it on opening night.

Yelp
Dumpling Master is a solid place if you want some American Chinese food. The portion is good and service was quick. We ordered a bit of everything and like them! My only critique is that the food is slightly greasy.

Yelp
I came in and ordered to go during lunchtime, but it wasn't too busy. They had nice music playing and it's well lit. I was greeted and ordered pork soup dumplings, garlic green beans & a brown sugar boba. They were out of tapioca pearls and suggested I try the crystal pearls, and she charged me for them. Not terrible, I just feel they could've worked with me on that. The food is def made to order and I waited for about 15 minutes. They out my bag on a to go shelf instead of handing it to me, so I didn't know it was ready. Food wise though, it's really good. The green beans are flavorful and crunchy & they came with rice. I took a star for the reasons mentioned, but I'd definitely come back when I'm in the area.

Yelp
Best soup dumplings in the city! Pro tip: add dumpling sauce and hot chili oil *chefs kiss. They are made fresh daily right in front for everyone to admire their artistry. I've been to several locations within the franchise and they have consistent quality and service across the board. Also highly recommend the Beef Shanghai noodles sooo good!

Yelp
Great service and tasty food. Nice interior, though I chose to take my food to go. Great location though getting into Clairmont rd can be tricky. I ordered the shrimp dumplings and an order of veggie dumplings. Both were tasty with a nice dipping sauce.

Yelp
Been super excited to try ever since they put up the coming soon sign. Fortunately, work is walking distance from this location. We went during the soft open and it was a great first experience. It was tough at first bc they were pretty busy and it's not the largest place. But we were able to get a table quick. It was clean in there and busy, you can even watch the employees prep the dumplings. We ordered the Szechuan Chicken story fry, pork dumplings, green beans, and pork bun. The food is delivered by their wonderful robotic server. I wonder if they named it yet. It seems to get paid pretty well bc it delivered our food quick. Lol. Everything was very delicious! I absolutely loved the dumplings. Thought they were the best I had in awhile. The bun was soft and tasteful! And the Szechuan chicken was fire. Super flavorful and had a nice spice to it. Since it was the soft opening they provided free drinks. Tried the milk tea, it wasn't the best but I think they're working on that. Overall, I definitely plan on going back. Side note: I think my dog liked the chicken stir fry too. He ate my leftovers.

Yelp
Got takeout on a weeknight. It was quite busy in the restaurant and very hot so we opted for takeout instead. Got the pork and cabbage dumplings, Shanghai pan fried noodles and the Szechuan chili chicken. We also got a hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup wasn't the best. Very sour and not spicy. It was also $8 for a small container. The noodles were also quite dry and didn't have much flavor. The chicken was pretty good though! It was spicy and flavorful. The dumplings were also pretty good! They were juicy but the skin was on the thicker side. We also got two boba drinks from their soft opening special but they gave me the wrong drink. Overall, not a bad place for a quick bite but definitely on the pricier side for the quality.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised! It's a fast casual place, the seating is small, so there might be a wait if busy. But service was fast and food came hot. The homemade dumplings, wontons, soup dumplings were better than I was expected! The soup dumplings are no Din Tai Fung, but decent to get the job done! We also got the Shanghai fried noodles which were good. Just wish the spicy chili oil was spicier haha. We'll be back whenever we crave dumplings.

Yelp
Buford Highway quality without the commute. Handmade dumplings are a rare find in this region of the country. This place has it. I had some initial reservations because this is a chain but was pleased with the food and the bill. I particularly liked the soup dumplings. While they are no Din Tai Fung, they are above average; the wrap, or skin, isn't too thick or chewy. I wouldn't pay extra for the crab option again because you can't really taste it. Sheng jian bao, shu mai, char siu bao, and noodles are about as traditional Chinese, or Taiwanese, as Atlanta gets. However, I would not recommend the boba tea. They have the powder mix taste and most likely not made fresh. The interior and decor are very cold and impersonal. It gives a quick eats vibe. It is not inviting for people to want to linger, or to order more food while socializing.

Yelp
Great! Food came out fast. Tried all of the different type of dumplings, the chicken wings, beef noodle soup, and stir fry chicken noodles. Everything was really delicious! This place definitely exceeded my expectations and is a great addition to the Emory area!!!

Yelp
First, the space is great. Location is great. Plenty of parking. You grab a table and sit. Order on your phone. They have pretty paper menus, too. But order on your phone. We got soup dumplings, scallion pancake, and wonton soup. Food arrived pretty quickly. Decent presentation. Condiments are on the table. The food. Hmmm. Well, it wasn't bad. Just had very little flavors. Bland. Boring. Blah. Yawn.

Yelp
Disaster. They refused service to my whole family because of my licensed and trained service dog. Management said they don't know if anyone was allergic so they could not serve us. I explained the law and that there is no reason to deny us service and besides my dog is hypoallergenic anyways. She still refused Don't go here

Yelp
Dumpling Master is a perfectly fine spot for soup dumpling junkies like me. There are only two choices here (pork or pork & shrimp), which is much more limited than the menu at Northern China Eatery -- but the taste & quality is great, the service is a bit different than the usual restaurant -- you scan the menu and order from yoir phone, as many courses as you wish. Seating is limited and always a wait. But the to-go counter for pick up and door dash type deliveries stayed busy as well.

Yelp
* Soft Opening * 30July2025 We were greeted with a smile ... had appetizers & enjoyed our FREE full size non-alcoholic drinks 1 per person. The Chinese wings, edamame, veggie spring rolls & MY Mango Passion Fruit Jasmine Green Tea with Mango Popping Boba was served timely & tasty. The wait time was short as we watched fresh dumplings being skillfully hand made. I must NOT forget the "Robot Server" was buzzing thru to tables with orders from the kitchen.

Yelp
The pork soup dumplings were so good, the broth inside was really flavorful. The service was quick and friendly. The atmosphere was really chill. Will be coming back!

Yelp
pretty good, their boba is alright and their food is decent so i would say to go here

Yelp
Food was amazing! Went with some friends and we all shared a bunch of different dishes. All of it was excellent.

Lynne J.

Yelp
We didn't taste the food. We arrived and one gentleman was before us on the waitlist. After 10 minutes a couple with two children showed up. We mentioned there was a wait list, he said he hoped they were on it because they checked on saw there weren't tables 'a long time before' so thought they would come back. I asked the server why they were seated before the next in line ( a gentleman and his son), and she began arguing with me, loudly, making up reasons why they seated the group of four and shouting because they stopped by 30 minutes ago they should be seated, although they weren't on a wait list. Additionally, while standing in the restaurant, the rest of us were outside because the new space is extremely tight, one of the people ordered a drink while waiting so they got the table. We were told we couldn't order anything until a table was available. The attitude put us off so we left. We won't go back to this location or any other of this chain. Working in hospitality, we have no patience for this type of service. Sure, newly opened restaurants always have kinks to work out but bad service shouldn't be one of those kinks. I'm posting because too often people just leave or never return. Restaurants should know why. I will also be contacting the restaurant directly. Btw, I'm easy to get along with and she said the gentleman and his sone were 1st on the waitlist and we were second.

Roberta L.

Yelp
Very nice service and our food came out timely. We had orange chicken, pork & chive dumplings, shrimp shu mai, & edamame. Orange chicken was good but too much breading; I had several bites and was not sure chicken was in there. Dumplings and shu mai were barely average. Disappointed.

Alec T.

Yelp
Excited this place here. Let's go over the good and the not so good! Ambience is great. The restaurant is sleek. The smell of the building..not great. It smells like a nursing home. Staff were just okay. Once we sat down, one of the young gentlemen quickly said something about ordering on the QR code and walked away. I'd say take your time, make us feel welcome explaining things. I felt like I was in a rush after that. Food was quite good though! I "might" go back.

Chad A.

Yelp
Came twice during the grand opening. What a great addition to the Decatur dining scene. Everything was delicious, service was great, really enjoyable experience. You won't be disappointed

Tee R.

Yelp
the manager's attitude alone is enough to ruin the whole experience here. this location's manager is dismissive and super unprofessional.

Discerning D.

Yelp
Dumplings and noodles were scrumptious. Hard to talk as apparently a large temporary AC unit in one corner is quite loud, but will probably be quieter when the actual AC in the space works again. Only negative are the filthy windows which appear to have been wiped down with dirty dish water and rags. Yuck...very unappetizing. A clean rag and some WINDEX or vinegar and water and a little effort would take care of that!

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Wow! We really enjoyed this restaurant. The dumplings were so delicious and the staff were so nice. We will definitely be back!
