27 Thrilling Thai Restaurants in New York City

"This East Village Thai concept, steps above St. Marks, features dumplings inspired by classic dishes, including a vegan Massaman curry dumpling. All dumplings come in fours, with a choice of four dipping sauces. While the concept sounds daft, the dumplings are great and unlike the dumplings served in other Thai restaurants." - Robert Sietsema

Yelp
You can't find a more welcoming place in St. Marks. The moment we entered this tiny Thai eatery, we were greeted by a super friendly and personable host. We tried three of their dumplings signatures: the chicken Pad Thai, the Tom Yum and the Thai pork basil. They were all solid, but next time I will probably get 3 orders of the chicken Pad Thai, as these are simply sensational. DO try their 2 sauces, even better if combined for a fantastic concoction of flavors. The place is super tiny but incredibly beautiful: plants, elegant trays, mirrors, lively, paint job, cool music. You will not regret going.

Yelp
Small restaurant with a few tables to sit inside and a very friendly worker to get you through the door and with a menu! I have never seen another restaurant with thai dish inspired dumplings so i love that this is a thing. Thai lover set - perfect size for 2 people to share and have a light dinner since each flavor comes in 2s. We were pretty contently full after as well as the dumplings are packed with filling and not small. From top to bottom: tom yum - very spicy and flavorful. i liked this a lot but if i had too many of just this flavor it might be too spicy. 3.5/5 Pad thai - sweet and juicy! this was good. 3.5/5 unsure if this is the green curry or thai basil - good but nothing crazy 2.75/5 crab fried rice - understand the concept but don't think it works well here. felt so carb heavy with thicker dumpling skin on this one specifically plus being filled with rice. 1/5 unsure if this is the green curry or thai basil - good but nothing crazy 2.5/5 massaman curry - this one was too dry for my taste. there doesn't seem to be sauce inside and didnt feel like the taste went well with the dumpling. 1/5

Yelp
No frills, hole in the wall, casual eatery. No restrooms, which is a star off. Had to run to the nearest bar afterwards. Inconvenient, so be warned. Food is prepared and served quickly. Small menu of dumplings. Customers eat quickly and are on their merry way. Tiny seating space. Only five tiny tables. Grab and go kind of place. Tried "the giant" $45, which was good to share, if you're a couple. Comes with noodles and 20 dumplings. We chose kale noodles, which were tasty. The sweet & salty broth that the noodles were served in added body to the sweet-ish noodles. The dumplings were okay. You cannot get the best four best selling types of dumplings in this dish, so you will be limited to simpler items. All the dumplings we sampled [excluding the top four best selling types], tasted identical, as they all had a chicken & pork minced meat mix base. The "flavors" were added on top--one shrimp, one octopus piece, one salmon piece. We preferred the shrimp and octopus ones. The dough on dumplings was light and not too thick, so that was good. Did not feel greasy or heavy after consuming this meal. The chilly oil that comes with dumplings order was delicious. It is available for sale for $8 per small jar. A note of caution. Sorry for TMI. We both experienced some stomach issues after our dinner. My bf had insanely toxic gas, which almost poisoned us throughout the night. I had severe constipation and stomach cramps. We both had issues with going to the toilet, as the experience proved painfully challenging.

Yelp
Cute interior and attentive staff! My soup was just mediocre and the noodles didn't really have any flavor to them. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing but the pork and seaweed dumplings with egg noodles just didn't really hit the spot.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to try this place for awhile... and it did not disappoint!! We stopped in at about 6 on a Tuesday and there was nobody else there, so we had our choice of seating. There are 5 tables inside, some really cool neon lighting, and great music playing. We decided to get the Thai Lover's platter of dumplings, which included all of the dumplings we were interested in. The chicken pad thai was my favorite, because it tasted exactly like the noodle dish but in tasty bite sized form. We also really liked the crab fried rice dumpling, and the big piece of crab included inside. The other dumplings were tasty too, but just a bit spicier than we had planned for. Overall a really cool spot that I'd definitely return to!

Yelp
Ordered delivery here as it had been on my radar to try for a while, and I was in the mood for something different! Packaging: thought it was packaged very well, no spills and still arrived warm, despite a fairly long distance to travel Food: Thai Dumpling Platter: very creative flavors, 12 dumplings for $30. My favorites were the spicy pork and the pad thai. Shrimp dumpling and noodle: dumplings were great, the noodles were a bit too sweet for my preferences Pork skin: pretty good Seaweed salad: pretty good Really enjoyed the chili crunch that came with our order as well. Was a fun, unique meal for a Sunday change of pace.

Yelp
Today I tried out their Tom Yum Dumplings and their Basil with Pork Dumplings. Tom Yum Dumplings: REALLY good, good heat, good tom yum flavor, tasted fresh and just overall good, this was the MVP. Basil with Pork Dumplings: Not bad, nowhere near as good as the Tom Yum ones. But not bad, their basil flavor was much less pronounced than the tom yum of the tom yum one. Summary: it is good food, but if you go, get the Tom Yum one.

Yelp
Had pad Thai and green curry chicken dumplings at their dragon fest stall. The dipping sauce was also awesome as well as the sesame scallion garnish. Looking forward to trying at the restaurant

Yelp
One of my very favorite Dumplings! These are not your average dumplings, it's Thai dumplings, so if you are not adventurous, please be aware. I first had these dumplings at a food festival and have been a fan. It's a small eatery in St. Marks place, but the dumplings are unique and amazing. I tried the green curry dumplings, Tom Yum dumplings and the pad Thai dumplings. They feature a huge entree with noodles as well and a unique shrimp dumpling with gold on top! The chilli oil on top is amazing and they sell it by the Jar as well l! Service is quick and friendly. Don't miss this place!

Yelp
Went to this place as another place nearby had a long line to sit and eat. This place was nice empty and clean. They have so many dumpling options that it was hard to decide. In the end we decided to get "The Giant" platter which displays 2 of every simple dumpling they had on a bed of noddles (kale or egg based noodles) which we asked for kale noodles and were pleasantly surprised at how light tasting they were. All the dumplings were good ranging from a 4.5-5 so any option you get you will be pleased. My 5/5 favorite was the pork seaweed dumplings. They had enough filling and were seasoned amazingly. Along with this giant dumpling platter we got the thai chicken dumplings as it was fun sounding and they were basically thai chicken in a dumpling wrapper which was yummy 4.2/5 The servers were friendly and brought the food out to you. They were very helpful in describing the menu and helping us decide what we wanted.

Yelp
It was kinda weird to be the only ones sitting down in this small restaurant. Definitely more of a to-go vibe. The service wasn't particularly great and the food was served cold. I didn't find the food to be very special and the booths didn't seem super clean for how small and manageable the place was. Nothing too special but could be worth a takeout order.

Yelp
Nice little spot serving some good vegetarian items . Food was fresh and service was good . I tried the massaman curry dumpling and it was very tasty . Took the chilli oil on recommendation- I asked for spicy dip- and a touch of that made it even more yummy . The kale noodles was not bad too. Not a huge fan of the taste but again it was worth a try . My son thought his pad Thai dumplings were a bit sweet but good . Overall a nice place that's clean and serves good food .

Yelp
10/10 The dumplings are super fresh and made to order but the service is fast. The chicken pad Thai dumplings were my favorite. They were absolutely delicious -- full of flavor and tasted exactly like chicken pad Thai!!! The pork basil dumplings were really good too! Very flavorful. Also, the decor is super cute! @neomiknows

Yelp
I really love this concept-- I had no idea what to expect when I came in here. Thai inspired dumplings was definitely not what I thought this was-- you'll find massaman curry, fried rice, pad thai, tom yum, and other inspired dumplings, which is so incredibly unique that you can't help but be impressed. I went with the dumplings and noodles option, where it comes with either dry or soup noodles, one type of dumpling (4 pieces) and some veggies. I went with the tom yum dumplings and the dry noodles. I think the best part of the dish was definitely the dumplings, which is unsurprising. They were huge, and I loved all of the flavors that they were able to get inside of that one dumpling. However, the noodles had absolutely no taste. I get that the dumplings are the star, but if noodles are an option, I'd want them to be good too. I found myself adding sauce to not just the dumplings but also the noodles in an attempt to get more flavor in them to a minimal amount of success. And I loved the sweet soy sauce that they provided, but I needed some saltiness in the noodles. My friend went with the dumpling platter that included two of each of their specialty dumplings, and I think that might be the move here.

Yelp
Terrible low quality food. Vegan dumplings were garbage. Soup was watery and no real authentic flavor. Tasted like some powder diluted in water. The only redeeming quality was the friendly waitress.
google avatar

JoAnn A.

Yelp
So many unique choices here, and everything I've tried has been delicious! Our first time trying the noodles and so glad we did.. good size portion for the price and very yummy! Quick note: the Tom Yum dumplings were spicier than expected! Taste one first before you dip them into the chili oil. Trust me! The team here is so friendly and sweet.. they do everything with a smile and make you feel welcome. They are also very patient if you're not quite sure what you want and ask tons of questions. It's a cute spot with a fun vibe.. parties of 4 or more may have a tough time with seating but well worth the wait.
google avatar

Chandni D.

Yelp
Came here around 8pm on a Friday and it was pretty full. It's a small location so definitely expect a wait if you have more than 2 people in your party. We ordered the following: Kimchi Fries - good not great. They were really crispy and the bites you did get with kimchi were really good. However, I was disappointed with the ratio of fries to kimchi we received. There was definitely not enough kimchi for all the fries we got Massaman Curry Dumplings - this is the only vegetarian dumplings of the unique flavors they have. This was really really good! I throughly enjoyed it and would recommend to others! Crab Fried Rice Dumpling - my friend got these and said they were also really good! Chicken Dumplings - not pictured but my friend said these were good but nothing extraordinary. Pretty standard Mushroom and Taro dumplings with noodles (wet) - these were ok, I found both the dumplings and the noodles with broth to be very bland. I had to add a ton of sauce and chili oil to make it edible. I also wished I'd gotten them dry instead since I didn't end up drinking the broth anyways because it was so bland Overall, we found the food to be good not great especially given the prices. For 2 of us, with all the food we got above, it ended up being almost $60. I understand times are tough, especially for hole in the wall places but I didn't think our meal was worth that much. It's a cool place to try some unique dumplings but definitely expect the prices to reflect that.

Yelp
Hidden away on St Marks in a way that you'll almost miss it is this absolute gem. Creative dumplings, pad Thai and Thai curry in dumpling form? Oh boy, I did not know what I was missing. It was quiet when we walked in on a weekday evening. Did not anticipate the flavor bomb that was coming. It's rare that you come across a truly unique restaurant, this is it. One of our favorites on this trip to NY!

Sarah O.

Yelp
Saw this place online and had to check it out on my first visit to the East Village. Excellent dumplings! Fantastic textures and tastes, very fresh. The Giant was an excellent value and more than enough for two people and it was really fun to try so many different dumplings! The spicy sauce is *really spicy* but the spicy dumplings are pretty manageable for the average American palate. If I were local, I'd be here all the time. If you're a tourist, consider this cozy spot a hidden gem!

Yelp
Exceptional shrimp dumplings. Perfectly plump and juicy shrimp accented with sesame oil, garlic, a base of chicken, wrapped in a chewy and tender dumpling wrapper. The octopus was a step below and not as interesting of a bite.
google avatar

Jangiez S.

Yelp
The dumplings were so good. The Thai lady gave us some Basil Dumplings to try and it was really good. Very nice service and delicious food here.
google avatar

Mabel L.

Yelp
Thanks to a Youtube blog that recommended this restaurant. The dumplings were good. You have a few options to choose from. I chose the salmon dumplings and opted for the noodles with my dumplings. The noodles were flavourless. Wish they had a good sauce for it. Very bland. I liked that they had many dumpling options. Since it was just me eating, I could only try 1 dumpling. Wish they had an option where you can mix and match. The biggest downside of this restaurant is there are no restrooms!!!
google avatar

Najwa G.

Yelp
Dumpling N' Dips is great but could be a little cheaper, especially considering the portion sizes and area that it's in. They do, however, do fun and innovative dumplings justice as sometimes it's a bad idea to mess with a classic. I had the Tom yum dumplings which were quite good and had the right amount of chicken and shrimp inside of it. I also liked the fact that the dumpling skin was not super thick and was more akin to that of shumai. I would try their other items as well if I'm ever in the area and need a quick bite.
google avatar

Melanie D.

Yelp
Who knew you could take dumplings to next level? WHO KNEW? WHO KNEW it could be reinvented to something exotic! This spot was SLAMMIN! My jaw dropped when I had my mix of dumplings, I was blown away at how creative they got with mixing and adding ingredients, it was so so so so good! I definitely want to come back and try more items on the menu! Staff were awesome!
google avatar

Katrina W.

Yelp
I loved this quick eats option in the east village! Kale noodles and taro dumplings for the win! Nothing like getting a meal for under $15 in the city. Check them out!
google avatar

Shelly L.

Yelp
OMG My husband and I stumbled upon this spot and split the 30 piece and the kimchi fries and holy sheet was it amazing!!! Each dumpling was an experience of its own, the flavors danced together and I can't wait to go back. The vegetarian one was so good I ordered some extra. The service was equally as great. Idk what the girls name was but she was incredibly kind and attentive. She said that these were her moms recipes and was keeping it going. We will be going back ASAP. Definitely give it a try if you're around the area.
google avatar

Powell M.

Yelp
This place is amazing! Just a heads up, it can be spicy, but please don't let that deter you, it is an amazing heat. Get the sampler for two (or a hungry one with a few leftovers). I want to go back for the kimchi fries, they look amazing!
google avatar

Ryan J.

Yelp
In a sea of Chinese styled dumplings, this place stands out from the crowd with different flavors and textures that what you might be used to. The food was tasty and fresh. Staff was nice. No complaints. My only comment is that I think the soup noodles are better value than the dry, which were a bit boring in comparison.
google avatar

Kirthana L.

Yelp
As a picky non-vegetarian, ensuring the meat isn't raw or bland will always be my priority. Finding a budget friendly NYC restaurant that meets my high standards brings a taste of home, reminiscent of street dimsums in India. The green curry flavored chicken and tomyum shrimp-chicken dimsums with the chili oil on top clearly stole the show, with my friend also praising the pork basil variety. The Mango Sticky rice Dumplings for desserts were indeed the perfect end to the dinner-the sticky rice were infused with warm mango puree and coconut milk topped with coconut cream. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
So on this blustery cold day, we needed the oooomph to get some fire under neath our wings. We found that fire in the GEM of all THAI collaborations from dumplings and dips. The owner-Bella -chef extraordinaire, the one who cooked for us like she cooks for herself like her mom cooked for her, invited us in, and we had the most incredible soups!!! Ladies and Gentlemen believe me when I tell you that I love Thi and I've had some great soup, Bella the restauranteur combines the arts of soup and dumplings with her mothers recipes and re-invents them in this modern twist in traditional Thai recipes. My pork, basil soup and dumplings melted in my mouth and my daughter who is always the critic and never the one being criticised couldn't even speak because she was full of her tam yum soup, which is the most popular here !!! so now lif you like spicy and if you like old school if you like good old-fashioned homemade food, and I mean home-made food, Bella just stand there and makes everything by hand herself - wraps every dumpling , cuts every noodle ! So if you are not here yet you need to make a path here before this thing goes up and goes out your price ranges. OK, all right and now I'm gonna present you with some pictures . Because baby picture cost 1000 words.

Yelp
Super cute & friendly dumpling spot that just opened in the village and this was my 3rd time stopping by this week. I love shrimp dumplings and their dumplings are so bomb, I can't get enough especially with their lime & garlic sauce. I got their kale noodles which comes with 4 dumplings of your choice and a small chicken soup. I've never had kale noodles before but they have become my favorite. So healthy & flavorful. It's a small spot which is really cozy & cute with yummy food and amazing owners. They are super friendly & welcoming and today she gave me a sample of one of their new vegetable dumplings that they will be introducing to the menu soon. Dumplings are my favorite and they are definitely serving up some yummy ones. Ig:@Soooomuchfun

Yelp
Update: I paid almost $8 just for four shrimp dumplings and felt part of my soul leave my body LOL. It was tasty but the noodle meal set feels a little more worthwhile. Nice place for a quick dumpling meal in st. Marks. Stopped by because the neon lights caught my eye. The inside of the store is tiny with only a few tables and seats, but the huge mirror and neon lights make the space look pretty cool. The menu is pretty straightforward - a few different types of dumplings, a couple of sides, a kale noodle option. The lady at the register was nice and took the time to explain the menu to multiple customers. I got the noodles, which came with 4 dumplings and a soup for ~$13. It's a pretty reasonable deal for a filling lunch or dinner in the area. The noodles were oily and surprisingly light and sweet in taste. There is vinegar on the side (probably for the dumplings) but I liked how it tasted mixed in with the noodles too. The dumplings were also really good, and tasted pretty fresh. The soup was OK, kind of reminded me of a canned veggie soup. It was useful in balancing the oil from the noodles and dumplings. This place opened up about a month and a half ago. It's not the cheapest dumpling place, but I appreciated it for what it was and might come back for lunch if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Got the Thai lovers set so that each of us could try different ones without having to split any in half. They were all good. I think the green curry and crab fried rice were my favorite. We went in the middle of the day so no wait but it is a small space and I don't remember seeing a bathroom. Portion wise we both felt satisfied after sharing this so we both only had 6 each. I would come back to try other dumplings that weren't a part of this set.
google avatar

Tyshawn T.

Yelp
These dumplings are top tier. The octopus dumpling is phenomenal. The sauces they give you for dipping are a great touch. Will definitely be going back a few times.
google avatar

Daniel N.

Yelp
Very interesting take on Thai flavored dim sum. The concept is great, but I was really missing more of the fresh Thai flavors that I'm familiar with like heavy doses of thai basil, thai chiles, or kaffir like leaves. The tastes was more on the side of dumplings with a slight essence of thai flavors. The bites are small and pricey, they left me wanting more textures and flavors that departed from the typical dim sum profile. I must admit, the ambiance is cool with the neon signs and the presentation is colorful.

Yelp
Fun tiny dumpling spot on St. Marks, we sat at a little table and were handed a couple of menus. I loved the spicy chili oil and sweet soy sauce on the table. These came out hot and YUMMY and it's a good spot for a quick, casual & filling meal.

Yelp
The sweetest lady you'll ever meet . Food is not only fresh but made with love . 10 out of 10 . As soon as I came in I was welcomed with loving eyes and she walked me through the menu . Great vibe with good music .

Yelp
Y'all... new lowkey spot alert! I've never had speciality Thai dumplings before, so these were a fun experimental first. The Green Curry Dumplings are a MUST. So so good, so so spicy, and so so worth it. The chicken & pork dumplings were great as well, eat 'em while hot y'all! One of the owners, named Beer, very sweetly tipped me off that spice lovers should eat the chili topping with the dumpling while less brave souls should mostly savor the dumpling. We had such a nice convo with him where he filled us in on his thought process behind creating this recipe: spicy curry dumplings simply have to be spicy enough to be good! There's also popular Thai dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Kah Gai filled dumplings on the way! The idea of a Thai Soup filled dumpling explosion in your mouth is too good to be true for me, will need to come back to try this. Bonus, the place has the cutest infinity mirror for quick pics.

Yelp
We had an amazing time at this place! The ambience was perfect as it was very cozy warm and very well decorated for the holiday season. Wow the food also lived up to the expectations from the decor as it was simply delicious. The staff were also really pleasant and helped us when needed :)
google avatar

Catherine Z.

Yelp
I usually plan out and research each meal on Yelp before I go, but this one was purely based on walking past and seeing the menu. I love Thai food and the fusion concept of them as dumplings intrigued me. It tasted just as good as it looked!! My friend and I shared one Thai Lover platter and it was more than enough. Great value for the price. Surprisingly, the ones I didn't think I would love were my favorite, and vice versa. The ambience is also very nice -- we stayed in there for hours, just chatting about random things.

Yelp
Bella and her team are amazing. We love NYC for good dumplings and were excited to try this new spot on St Marks Place. We were not expecting it to be this good. My family loves the Pork and Seaweed and Fried Chicken. I also really like the heat of the Pork Basil and Kimchi Fries. The owner and her team are super friendly, and very professional. If you are anywhere close to the East Village, make sure to stop and try Dumplings n' Dips!
google avatar

Iris H.

Yelp
Woweewow. I stopped in after an event and was able to order quickly. The shop has about 5 tables and a solid selection of pork and non pork options for dumplings, as well as noodle dishes. I ordered the Thai tea as well as the dumpling platter which is one dumpling each of all the kinds they have. You do have the option to switch out some if you don't eat a certain meat, but i highly recommended going with chefs choice which is one of each. The dumplings hardly took any time to make and came out piping hot with four different kinds of dips. One was specific for seafood, one extra spicy, chili oil and the standard dipping sauce. I ate the entire platter, it was so good. That's 10 dumplings in my belly. No regrets. I'm definitely coming back to try the noodle dishes and eat more dumplings.
google avatar

Rosy S.

Yelp
I randomly stumbled upon this place when visiting NYC. The owner happened to be cleaning the front of the store when I stopped to look at their menu. She was so kind, not forceful at all and welcomed us when we decided to eat here. The food was genuinely so clean, everything is handmade from scratch and the quality was amazing. Everything tasted great. I got the sample platter that let me taste a bunch of their dumplings. They took their time to make each one with love and care. The salmon was my personal favorite. This is definitely a must when in NYC.
google avatar

Emery W.

Yelp
3.5 stars for this fast casual dumpling spot in the East Village. Order the party platter. It includes 10 different dumplings and 4 dipping sauces so you don't have to choose. 10 dumplings is plenty for 2 people to share, and you only have to wait a few moments for your selection to be prepared. The savory dumplings were good but nothing to write home about. I would've loved to see some soup dumpling action, though perhaps that's too delicate a dish for takeout? Overall, this restaurant satisfied my craving but next time I'll try somewhere new. One more note: chili lime dipping sauce was simultaneously spicy and refreshing.
google avatar

belinda s.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance and costumer service! I got the octopus and chicken dumplings and they were chef's kiss with a little bit of chili oil.

Sara A.

Yelp
Has the chicken soup dumplings and the chicken and shrimp dumplings. Service was quick and pleasant. The pineapple green tea was my favorite.
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
I love this place!! The service is so wonderful, the dumplings always come out super fast (I have only had to wait like 5 minutes max from ordering) and the wait staff is super sweet. Not to mention the food is absolutely delicious and relatively cheap! I love their chicken dumplings and the chive were also really good when I tried, and was a fan of the seafood salad. Been taking my friends here as a quick bite to eat in a casual yet cute environment. Cant wait to be back!
google avatar

Yelp
We weren't expecting much when we came to this small shop, but we were blown away by how tasty and well-executed these dumplings were!! They had a great variety of meats and flavors, from Thai to Malaysian to more traditional Chinese shumai. My husband loved the sampler, where he could try all the different dumplings and sauces! His favorite was the chicken green curry one and was torn between the chili oil and Mala sauce. I had the pork dumplings with kale noodles that were SO DELICIOUS! I didn't know kale noodles could taste this good but they were light and springy,m and were lightly coated in their sweet soy sauce! We will certainly be back for more!!! The staff were so sweet and helpful, and they turned this tiny shop into a cool place with good ambiance!

Cairo R.

Yelp
I had been thinking about stopping by this place since I had walked past it about a month ago. I remember seeing the filling for the dumplings and thinking "wow, what different combinations!" They're menu includes dumplings with octopus and chicken, taro and mushroom, and for those who like spicy, there's a chicken green curry flavor which will knock your socks off! The staff is also super friendly and makes sure you have as much of any of their 5 different sauces as you'd like! Definitely a cute place for a quick snack, or a hearty meal.
