Really enjoyed the food here! Especially loved the soup dumplings, the pork and chive dumplings, salt and pepper fried tofu and pork ribs (fall off the bone!). The food came out piping hot and with great flavor. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

The food is amazing here. The steamed dumplings are all my family and I come here for. Love it! The service is a little slow.

We ate here for the first time tonight and it was really good! I’ve not had Dongbei food before. We got the Northern Chinese Chicken and Sour Cabbage with Mung Bean noodles and it was refreshingly sour. Not too sour, literally just right to make you want to eat more. We also had two different types of dumplings. They were super duper fresh, huge, and I like the slightly thicker wrapper. They make them to order so they do take a while to appear but they’re worth the wait. I took my pictures in the middle so the amounts are smaller than what we got! You get 12 dumplings per order.

My friends and I had seen this Chinese restaurant many times while passing the area, so we finally decided to try it. Based on the restaurant's name, we assumed it was only specialized in dumplings. Still, we were surprised to find out that they offered a variety of Chinese dishes, including some handmade dumplings with beef, pork, chicken, lamb, seafood, and vegetables. The food was decent, but we could taste a hint of MSG. The service and ambiance of the restaurant were also decent.

Speechless , the dumpling’s taste “ Bomb “ way much good … look forward to try something else soon . Highly recommend!

We were a party of 6 for dinner, our first time here. We ordered a lot of different appetizers and main courses to share family-style. Soup dumplings, crab rangoon, Dan Dan noodles, and Cucumber w Garlic (cold) were our apps. I think these were the best crab rangoon I've ever had! Very flavorful, I did not even need or touch the dipping sauce it came with! Soup dumplings were delicious. My cousin had the Dan Dan (I'm a bit of a spice wimp myself), and he said it was very good. I thought the garlic cucumber was also tasty! For main courses, we had Crispy Spicy Tofu which was my first time trying it and it was excellent (even for the spice wimp...I just avoided the peppers). We had the String Bean Szechuan, another first for me, and OMG I loved it so much!! Was not too spicy at all (again, avoiding red peppers). Someone order chicken cilantro dumplings, another had orange chicken, and I had General Tso's chicken. There wasn't a dud in the bunch. I loved my General Tso's...crispy, tender, not overcooked, not too much breading...just perfect. Service was good too, but admittedly there were maybe 3-4 other tables of patrons when we were dining so maybe we didn't experience the full "dinner rush" that others had. I'll definitely return. An excellent meal, and I recommend doing it family style to try a bunch of new things like I did!

Stopped in for lunch on a holiday weekday and they were pretty busy with somewhat larger groups and there was only one lady working the dining room and WOW, did she hustle the entire time we were there! She did an adequate job keeping up with our table, but I did get up to get things our table needed (silverware, napkins, container, etc). The menu is decent with a large list of dumplings, but no soup dumplings. We tried many items from the menu… The scallion pancakes were really nicely done! Flaky and flavorful, but somewhat thick. The spicy won ton wasn’t very good, watered down sauce and paperthin, over-steamed wrapper… hardly much flavor to the entire dish. The dan dan noodles were very spicy and very tasty! The cucumbers were nicely done, great sesame oil and garlic flavoring, but they really needed to be spicy, so I added a little to make them taste better. Still, they were really good on their own. The chicken scallion pan fried dumplings were good… nice flavor. I tried several other items and what I tasted was just OK, nothing really “hit” or was special though. Their sauce offerings is basic too… they had the smokey chili flakes in oil, which isn’t very spicy and is typically just basic and bland. They also had black garlic vinegar which wasn’t very garlicy. Lastly, they had soy sauce. So, mixing the soy sauce with the chili flakes made an acceptable sauce for the dumplings. Can’t say I’ll be heading back anytime soon.

Soup dumplings are a must and were very flavorful. Definitely want to come back to have other dumpling options

Yelp
Authentic & delicious! Excellent Service! Soup dumplings and Dan Dan noodles are our favorites!

Yelp
Good cucumber garlic salad, tasty bamboo shoots appetizer, signature Lily's dumpling (of course) and shrimp chives dumpling. A bit of long wait even if it was an entirely empty restaurant at 3 pm on a Wednesday. I was hoping to order on DoorDash for pick up but at the last step (just before checking out), they said "closed" -- they were not closed at all! Just lazy. They pretended to be on the app but didn't want to pay the commission. So I had to go there in person to place an order and then wait for 30 minutes. The waitress had a poker face and gave me cold shoulder. Not the most pleasant, but I guess the food is alright. Here's their job ad on their door by the entrance: it says that the employees do not need to speak English but need to be able to pay taxes!

Yelp
3 stars: most things were very middle of the road. May give it another try TL;DR: very extensive menu and options for everyone. Okay food. Service was nice. Came here for dinner one night as we were craving some dumplings. One look at their menu, and they have a ton of other things to offer. Service was very nice, attentive, and fast. However, while we were dining, they were extremely loud amongst the staff and for some may influence their dining experience. FOOD: ~Green onion pancake (2.5/5): bland and a little over cooked. Still had a good chew to it and the soy sauce helps ~Spicy wonton (3/5): the sauce/oil was terribly watery, like many other reviews mention. The wontons were good though and the oil had good flavor, it just didn't stick to the wontons ~Pork napa dumplings (3/5): filling was lacking seasoning, but using soy sauce helped. The wrapper is definitely on the thicker side, which I personally liked, but some may not. ~Soup dumpling (3/5): This would be an easy 4/5, but all but 2 of the dumpling were either already ripped or ripped as we picked it up, making all the soup fall out. The ones that did have the soup were very good. ~Fried ribs (4/5): ribs were very tender but still had a good bite. The dry seasoning mix that comes on top was so tasty! Could eat the seasoning crumble alone with rice (personally as someone who just loves garlic). Overall this place was just okay. Not sure if we'd come back, but maybe to try to other things on their menu.

Jeff T.

Yelp
Service is slow they do not have enough staff. The food is decent but I rather drive for more options. They have a lot of seating inside but maybe due to the poor service usually not a lot of people go. I do hear the phone ringing for picking up orders though.

Yelp
Came here to eat on snowy MLK day around 1. It wasn't packed but the restaurant was about 1/3? Full. It's appears to be a small, family operated business. If you come here, it's definitely for the food and not the ambiance or service. Don't get rattled by the owner?, small Asian lady barking orders in Chinese. I did, however, understand, "FASTER FASTER!" Service isn't their strength, but have some grace, they're trying. My friend and I got the house three meat delight noodle soup, pan fried Lili's special, soup dumplings, and garlic cucumbers. I thought both dumplings and cucumbers were a touch salty but still good. Cucumbers were a garlic bomb- probably my favorite thing I ate here. Pan fried dumplings were a little greasy but I guess I should've known better. I didn't like the noodle soup; the broth was underwhelming and lacked flavor. I usually love knife cut noodles, but I wasn't a fan here. My friends love love the dumplings here. I probably won't come here again, but it's worth trying. I prefer Yu Noodle. If you're wondering what the difference between house three meat delight noodle soup (A) and three meat delight noodle soup (B), the owner said A was just clear broth and B has more starch in it and the broth is thick.

Yelp
It is a decent sized restaurant and there's always seating when I go on a week day night. I can see it getting busy on the weekends though. The service is subpar, so don't come in here expecting top notch service by any means. They are friendly enough, but the food does take a bit of time. We got the special dumplings, crispy & tofu, and crispy beef. Everything was delicious. The tofu was perfectly crisp and the beef had a great flavor. The dumplings were of course delicious and I also got the soup dumplings but I was less impressed by them. The soup dumplings were a lot smaller than I liked. It's a delicious, authentic restaurant with plenty of options for all types of palates. Try it out if you're in the area, but make sure you have the right expectations!

Gene C.

Yelp
Service was nice. The two ladies who took our orders were really attentive and wished my friends and I Happy New Years. I got the pork with cilantro dumplings and I would not recommend getting it or any of the pork dumplings. It had this weird aftertaste, but everything else we ordered was fantastic, especially the rangoons. The ambiance was also really nice, wished there were more people, but I guess going in on New Years makes business slow, haha. I had a pleasant visit here regardless!

Sylvie C.

Yelp
Placed the order over the phone while driving to work. The order was almost ready upon arrival. Parking was free, easy, and ample. Was happily to discover Amex available to use. Customer service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant has areas to sit with traditional and auspicious decor. I would not mind dining in the future as it wasn't busy and the service prompt and friendly. The dumplings were delicious albeit strongly flavored with cilantro. My order came with 10 pieces of shrimp and chives dumplings. I appreciated how chewy the scallion pancakes tasted. I look forward to returning again in the future.

Joseph R.

Yelp
Went there for Lunch. Overall good but lacked some flavor. Recommend the Garlicky cucumbers appetizer, spicy chicken and dumplings. Next time I would try the Stir Fried Snowpea Leaves.

Simon L.

Yelp
Seasoned ribs were very good. Soup dumplings were good and comparable to soups dumplings in good Chinese restaurants.

Christina P.

Yelp
The oil is kinda bad here, like they haven't changed it for a while. Crab rangoons were salty rather than sweet, which was what I was expecting. I don't know what the spicy wontons are, the soup was weird and the meat smell was strong. The only good dish I might come back for is the eggplant in garlic sauce

G A.

Yelp
Nightmare. I ordered take out online and have neen waiting for it for an hour from the estimated pickup time. The restaurant is not that busy. They clearly prioritize seated clients. I actually saw a family leave that walked in the door after me. I had a very uncomplicated, small order. DO NOT ORDER TAKE OUT FROM THIS PLACE!!!

Bill L.

Yelp
We had the eggplant, veggie dumplings, tofu with pork, and a horribly burnt onion pancake. Except for the burnt pancake, the food was good. But why the hell would they give us burnt food? Just make another one. It was take out and we didn't know till we came home.

Dr Joe V.

Yelp
Superior dumplings ; however, my experience with the old crone up front was only amusing after the fact (she thought I was the DoorDash driver and immediately started chewing me out...). Food is good, service was sketchy. Overall recommendation is thumbs neutral but a yes.

Gauravi P.

Yelp
We had a fabulous time here! I definitely do not think this establishment deserves anything under 4 stars. Lili was our server and seems to be the only server working at this establishment (maybe she's also the owner?). Anyway, she was awesome and so nice to our baby! We ordered: 1.) Pan fried chicken and zucchini dumplings 2.) Pan fried lamb and onion dumplings 3.) Sautéed bok choy with garlic which came with a side of rice 4.) Pot of tea Everything was delicious. Each dumpling order came with 12 dumplings in total. There was an extra dollar charge to pan fry the dumplings. The dumplings do come out oily but they are so yummy and definitely made to order from the long amount of time it takes to get to you. The dumplings are also a good size- nice and plump! All the food here is fresh and authentic. I would definitely come back again. The only negative and why I took a star off my review is that you have to wait awhile for your food which can be frustrating. If the restaurant is extra busy then you might be waiting awhile. But the food is delicious so if you have 1.5 hours to spare, I would come here for lunch or dinner. Don't come if you are in a hurry or order take out instead to save time!

Anna Y.

Yelp
I really like this place for both authentic and more Americanized Chinese food. We tend to go with the dumplings, crispy spicy chicken, and eggplant and potato dish. There are times they can get quite busy so we tend to like to order out. The food also does not take too long. There is plenty of parking available.

Nana O.

Yelp
Me and my bf went here for lunch, and it was great! We were seated quick, had great service, and the food was good! We had fantastic appetizers and great entrees, and we were watching the Olympics on the TVs they had! Overall a great experience and we will go back!

Sylvia H.

Yelp
I will definitely return to Dumpling Queen. I tried the North China Mung Bean Noodles with Chicken and Mixed Vegetables. I could eat that every day. It was fresh and crisp, had a little bite to it and great depth of flavor. It also had cilantro; if you don't like that, ask to not add it. The crispy beef was flavorful but not crispy. Pretty sure it was because it was a take out order and traveled 20 minutes sealed with its sauce. The pork and chive dumpling were 2 bites of flavor with a good dough to filling mixture; neither overpowered.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Fantastic pork and chive dumplings, scallion pancakes, and garlic cucumber. Will absolutely be back!

Amanda A.

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Chinese food in the Chantilly area, this is your place (well, one of them. But one of the top ones that is). This is not a dimsum place. They have authentic dishes and also offer Chinese-American dishes (your typical general tso, kung pao, etc) as well! Cucumber garlic (10/10) - this is one of the best Asian cucumber dishes I've ever had. It will leave your breath KICKIN' but worth it. I'd love to devour 5 of these small plates. Crispy Beef (8/10) - flavorful and actually crispy! Dan Dan Noodles (9/10) - salty but I LOVE IT. This dish has no meat, by the way. Their dumplings (9/10) - MANY OPTIONS ranging from $13-$16 per serving. There are about 10 BIG dumplings per serving. You can get them FRIED or steamed. I personally love the fried but my best friend loves the steamed. So this is based on preference. Service sucks but I expect this LOL. The restaurant looks like an old school Chinese restaurant - very casual. There are PLENTY of parking spaces, too.

Michael M.

Yelp
Just stopped by and wanted to try. We got there for a lite late dinner and was not disappointed. Hot tea, and crab soup were good generous portions. Just what our stomachs were in the mood for and a side of the mushroom chicken dumplings were incredible. We definitely will return! Staff was very courteous and accommodating. We also saw some great food coming out as we sat near a table of gentlemen who were hungry and ordered a lot of food. Our night was wonderful and we enjoyed our food there.

Adam Y.

Yelp
Food: 2. 12 pork dumplings-just didn't taste right, didn't taste freshly made, maybe several days old, thick & chewy skin; green onion pancake-overcooked on one side, lightly cooked on the other, not freshly made, want really crispy, just chewy. Service: 1. poor service with a frown/scowl, not friendly at all, no hi or anything acknowledgement at all when I walked in, after 2-3 minutes lady asked what I want, seems normal. Ambiance: 3. a hole in the wall, I've seen dirtier Bathroom: 4. very clean for old Asian restaurant To-go Order: 2 food was correct, but no chopsticks/fork or napkins, tough eating dumplings with fingers. Ate food 5 -7 minutes after leaving. Overall: 2. Below average, would not come back again.

Nameeta M.

Yelp
The food here was pretty tasty and they had a wide variety of dumplings to choose from. All dumplings are steamed unless you request they be pan fried for an extra dollar so it's very reasonable. It's in a complex so there's plenty of parking, and the servers were pretty quick with our order. We got green onion pancakes for an appetizer, steamed tofu mushroom dumplings, and pan fried chicken dumplings and it was enough for 2 people who just had a whole bunch of snacks right before eating haha. Each order of dumplings had 12 pieces so portions are good. The food, especially the green onion pancakes, could have had more flavor which is my only complaint, they were slightly crispy which was nice but other than oil, they didn't taste like much else. They do provide dipping sauces like soy sauce and chili oil though which can certainly help. Overall - worth a try!

Ailun H.

Yelp
I don't think it takes 30 minutes to steam dumplings, but that was our experience. My friends and I stopped by to try the dumplings here (didn't see the XLB on the other side of the menu, smh) so we just got a plate of the most basic one. PORK & NAPA DUMPLINGS (12 PC.) - 12 This dumplings were definitely made in house and pretty fresh. However, that was all there really was to it. The skin was pretty thick and the filling wasn't anything impressive. They were just dumplings to us. Maybe if I was in the area again, I'll try the XLB.

Elizabeth X.

Yelp
Some of their stuff that's made in house is better, but their soup dumpling looks and taste very similar to Costco ones.

Hannah H.

Yelp
DUMPLING QUEEN - so glad that we made up from our previous breakup and gave you another chance (took a long hiatus due to a super poor unfortunate dine-in experience, but the server we had to deal with that time seemed to have been long gone - good riddance!)! Ever since then, our visits have always been consistently wonderful - great service and yummy food, literally each and every time! We usually order: +the Chicken Napa dumplings - pan-fried; these housemade, handmade dumplings are generously filled, pan-fried perfectly, and are so so so juicy! +Crispy Beef - a sweet & sour-like sauce that is slightly syrupy, covered in thin, batter-covered strips of beef that are perfectly fried; the sauce is addicting, and great mixed in with rice Y'all don't need to drive/fly to NYC to get delicious dumplings - Dumpling Queen's is much better! We appreciate that the service has always been on point - our waters have always been refilled, our food comes out piping out, and we always leave with happy bellies. Thanks for existing, Dumpling Queen! +delicious handmade dumplings +get the dumplings pan-fried! +Crispy Beef +friendly & kind service +plenty of parking in shared plaza lot

Yelp
September 2022 - COVID Review: I had been wanting to go here for awhile since I'm a huge fan of dumplings. Besides dumplings though, they also have a bunch of typical Chinese dishes on their menu. My husband and I got a few different types of dumplings to try. The dumplings located under the "dumplings" section of the menu are much better (and a little more soupy) than the soup dumplings under the appetizers section. Overall, it was still pretty good and I would come back to only order from the dumplings section since those seem to be more of the actual specialty ones.

Khoa P.

Yelp
Dumpling Queen has been making an appearance on NoVA foodie TikTok, and I've seen this place a few times next to the new(er) Shilla, so I had to give it a try. Truth be told, on the first time I came here, I had the dumplings (Lili's Special, xiao long bao) and thought they were just OK. The XLB weren't soupy enough for me, and others have already pointed that out. However, that first time I visited I had the spicy fried chicken and it was awesome! I decided to come back again and of course, I had to get the spicy fried chicken, but also decided to try the Xinjian style pork fried ribs based on other Yelpers reviews. The ribs were so good. They were flavorful and just fell right off the bone. 5/5. If you're looking for a delicious Chinese meal, you've found the right place.

Benjamin T.

Yelp
This place reminded me of China Bistro in Rockville. It was busy and the dumplings were lit! The Lamb dumplings were out of this world amazing! Being a foodie, there are very little dishes I have not tried. When come come across something new. It is always great when I experience greatness for the first time. In this case, the lamb and onion dumplings are a must!!!! The bamboo, tendon, and pork chops were also good!

Daniel J.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally got the chance. It was not super crowded and service was very fast. You could tell the dumplings were hand made. They didn't have all the same shape, but they were great. They had big pieces of meat and you could tell they used fresh ingredients. We steam dumplings at our house and they are never at this quality. If you get a chance, definitely give them a try!

Eliza D.

Yelp
GET THE PORK RIBS! We went here for lunch on a cold winter day and it sure hit the spot! Spicy Wonton Soup- simple yet satisfying! The broth is so clear that I had judged it to lack flavor but I was wrong. Pork and Chive Dumpling- done right! Lili's Special Dumpling- sooo good! Pork Ribs- the beeest! Whatever seasoning they put on it, it was bomb!!!! I could eat the entire plate by myself. So so so goooood! The serving were huge. We ended up taking home most of the dumplings. We definitely ordered too much but we wanted to try different entrees. We will definitely be back!

M. D.

Yelp
Was shocked when we went to try this place for the first (and last) time. My family and I were looking forward to some good authentic food based on some of the reviews but sadly disappointed. I get that this is a small family owned establishment but the cleanliness of this restaurant is very questionable and I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that served watery/mushy white rice. Food was served/left at the end of the table I guess for us to reach over and get for ourselves (??) and the dumplings were less than mediocre. Just a sad and disappointing experience overall.

Jay P.

Yelp
Excellent service, good Chinese food (which is honestly rare to find in the area), and decent prices. Yes, the food is slightly salty, and the ambiance a bit saturated, but the service makes up for it and the zesty taste does, too. I will be returning!

Joe V.

Yelp
Food gotta give it 5 Now, remove all of the Service was an absolute embarrassment for whoever owns this place. OMG the old Asian crone at the door began by attempting to give me a verbal dressing down (she had mistaken me for a DoorDash driver... Who does that??!?). Then she started in attempting to make me go get with someone towards the back until I raised my voice volume just above hers and informed her I was an online customer who'd paid already and picked up the order and retreated to my car. Ambience saved the day with 3 because it was that of a small, almost cramped and completely empty storefront (read excellent 'hole in the wall' style experience for a drop in quick bite) boutique cafè. Clean and wonderful food.

Lea L.

Yelp
Three meat delight noodle soup 三鲜打卤面, this dish is not my favorite. All the dumplings I've tried are good.

Dave K.

Yelp
Now one of my favorites, the yelp rating is too low. I've never had a meal here that wasn't high quality, hot, and super consistent. If you're on the fence, come for the hot and sour soup. It's the best in NoVa and they are one of the few places that do it right... thick, dark, super peppery. Most other places it's too thin with no spice. There is also an unusual dish that's worth a trip, Xinjiang Style Pork Fried Ribs, which I haven't seen anywhere else. It's a bit expensive but fantastic flavor. The ribs look dry but are really tender, maybe a very thin glaze, and then coated in this unique paste or dry rub made of crushed peanuts, garlic, scallions, sesame and crushed peppers. It's so good. Salty and savory. The dumplings are fine but, for me, half of what I like about dumplings is some sort of nice sauce like soy ginger... these don't come with any, I guess with authentic dumplings you normally just mix soy and chili oil. I like having an order of potstickers anyway, nice fried flavor. This is clearly a bit more authentic than typical strip mall Chinese, but it's not expensive or too strange for American taste buds. They have a section of just american-style chinese, where you can find the usual suspects like general tso's, beef with broccoli, kung pao. General tso's, Orange, and Sesame chicken are similar, properly breaded, crispy, mostly or all white meat. The kung pao is good with lots of veggies. Hunan chicken has a nice smoky flavor. This is a place where I feel safe trying something new because nothing is cheap or low quality, and service has always been fine, they are friendly.

Kun L.

Yelp
This place is a joke, food is average, service is unbelievable rude. Take your money elsewhere.

J E.

Yelp
It's ok. I mean if you like frozen dumplings that are not fresh then this is the spot for you. I myself like freshly made to order food. Yes that makes me a food snob, and no I probably shouldn't critique and Chinese take out shop but we went we tried it and we were disappointed. Pass on this place and go to one of the great Korean restaurants around.

Cham K.

Yelp
I made a compilation of the best soup dumplings on TikTok and someone said this place should of been on the list. While it was tasty, the soup dumplings lacked a good amount of soup. The consistency was more of like a juicy dumpling instead of the Xiao Long Bao soup dumpling I was looking for. We also tried the pan-fried dumplings which were just okay (could use more flavor). Overall, it was enjoyable with the chili oil/soy sauce, but it is clear the patrons in Chantilly have not been to Rockville, Maryland where you can find the soupiest and larger XLBs!

AL K.

Yelp
Food is cheap and quick. Popular dumplings are the best sellers. Great with noodles, rice or just by itself. Service is hit and miss. Only one person at the time I went taking care of take out, pick up and dine in. Omg, so just be patient.

Leichardti F.

Yelp
It's OK for DC, not great nor bad. Dumplings are actually hand-made, which is nice. Although the stragglers are too thick.

Kenneth D.

Yelp
Be very careful, this spot is known to add egregiously high tip amounts to orders. Primarily take out orders.

Great food and great service! Spare ribs is the bomb and we loved the dumplings as well! I would give 2.5 stars for the ambiance but who cares, since food/ service is legit!

Yelp
Came here with my friend since we were craving soup dumplings and hand pulled noodles (and just more authentic Chinese food in general)! Food was overall good but didn't "wow" me in flavor. Some of the food items tasted like things I could make myself at home which could be both a pro and just ok factor (beef noodle soup was very homely for instance) The soup dumplings were good but the juicyness really came from the meat rather than general soup. I prefer soup dumplings where you bite in and soup leaks out but this one was mainly just the Noteable tender and juicy meat inside. Flavor is good though. The xinjiang style pork ribs were well seasoned thought didn't expect the slight sweetness. Was delicious nevertheless! Rice cake was satisfying! Overall the flavors were still satisfying so I definitely would come back whenever I'm craving Chinese! The location is also great! My instagram post! https://www.instagram.com/reel/CjsdVqJDxg9/

Yelp
Food was fantastic! We got a bunch of stuff and shared family-style. Great service, and they were tending a packed house. Will definitely return.

Yelp
If you want fresh delicious dumplings, this place is it. We had ordered soup dumplings, which were amazing and made fresh. You could see the people making them. We had also ordered the beef lo mein and the sesame seed chicken that was also really delicious. The service is amazing and the servers were extremely kind. The have plenty of seating if you have a bigger party. The place is very quiet and relaxing. Great spot for a nice filling dinner or delicious dumplings. Highly recommend.
