The Best Restaurants in East Cambridge | Eater Boston

"While Dumpling Xuan is fairly new to the East Cambridge food scene, it has a lot to offer, with dumplings being just one of many things the restaurant does well. The menu has well over 100 items from which to choose, including mapo tofu as well as dry pot, which shares similar flavors to traditional hot pot but is prepared stir-fried instead." - Karen Wilber

The Boston Area’s Best Takeout and Delivery of 2021 | Eater Boston

"I’ve been craving a good xiao long bao (soup dumpling) but have been holding off for a while given that it should practically be law that they need to be eaten piping hot. But at the recently opened Dumpling Xuan, I could tell from my takeout experience that they had freshly made these piping hot and packaged them perfectly for transport. When I arrived home, I think the order lasted a couple minutes at most — so savory, so satisfying. —Karen Wilber" - Nathan Tavares

The food was amazing!! Xiao long baos (pork soup dumplings) - The skin was thicker than usual (which I liked) and the filling was filled w soup and pork meat. It was so juicy and flavorful and I would definitely recommend this one 🥟. 10/10. Steamed veggie dumplings - This was a comfort meal tbh and it tasted great with the vinegar/soy sauce(?). The filling was filled w veggies and glass noodles. 8/10. Tofu skin w edamame 🫘 - Omg literally my favorite dish from this place. It was a surprise because it was sooo flavorful and the texture was soft and chewy. The tofu skin paired so well with the edamame. 10/10. Scallion pancakes - The usualy chinese takeout scallion pancakes. It was perfectly crispy and paired well w the soy sauce, although nothing special. 7/10.

A Royal Decree on Dumplings: All Hail Dumpling Xuan! The Queen and I were recently struck by a powerful, dough-wrapped craving. The royal scrolls of Instagram alerted us to a promising fiefdom in East Cambridge: Dumpling Xuan. With stellar reviews as our guide and a 15-minute chariot ride, we embarked on a quest for the perfect parcel. Dumpling Xuan is nestled in a neighborhood, a cozy spot where the parking is of the street variety (a classic Cambridge jousting tournament). Do they take reservations? Our intelligence suggests not. We bravely walked in, were promptly greeted by a most friendly subject, and were shown to a perfectly sized table for two. The realm is intimate, buzzing with the happy chatter of commoners and nobles alike, all united by the glorious scent of steaming and frying dough. The air itself was delicious. Behold, the menu! A vast and glorious tapestry of options that could intimidate a lesser appetite. But our mission was clear: Dumplings. Steamed. Fried. We wanted them all. Service was swift and friendly, even as a steady stream of loyal takeout patrons created a revolving door of deliciousness—always a stellar sign. The feast began to arrive. First, the Scallion Pancakes: flaky, savory, and the ideal scepter to wield while waiting. Then, the main event: the Fried Pork and Cabbage Dumplings. Let it be known far and wide: these dumplings are no mere snack. They are substantial, generously filled, and packed with flavor. This is meat justice, served in a perfectly golden-brown vessel. Not to be outdone, The Queen’s order of Shanghai Style Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao) arrived. They were even grander, delicate pouches holding a thrilling, hot, and savory broth within. A word of caution to the court: do not burst these precious jewels prematurely! The technique is part of the fun. The final verdict from the throne? Dumpling Xuan absolutely lives up to the hype. The portions are generous, the quality is top-tier, and the vibe is authentically fantastic. Whether you dine in to soak up the atmosphere or summon their delights to your own castle via delivery, Dumpling Xuan is a dumpling destination worthy of your patronage. Our royal seal of approval is officially granted. Long live the dumpling

We stopped for a late lunch/early dinner, ordering scallion pancakes, pork dumplings, noodles, and shrimp fried rice. All four of the dishes were very flavorful and quickly devoured. I will definitely return when in the area again.

Google
3.5 stars We ordered takeout and were really excited for the dumplings. We got both the steamed pork & leek version as well as fried vegetable ones, which kept their crunch even after the short walk home. I would recommend trying something from their namesake selection! The scallion pancakes fell a bit short of that bar. They didn’t have a lot of scallion in them, and while they retained that crunch factor, they didn’t stand out to me. I did appreciate that all of these came with a classic vinegar-based sauce. The rice cakes with vegetables were appealing to me - if I could change anything, it would be to add some bok choy. The braised tofu with scallion & veggies is meant to be light in flavor, so don’t expect too much from that dish. Finally, I didn’t have too high hopes for the egg fried rice, and I’d suggest with going with a different option from that category.

Google
Dumpling Xuan is an awesome gem in East Cambridge. The scallion beef pancake rolls were honestly out of this world, and were cooked and seasoned to perfection: the pancake was flaky, slightly crispy, and multi-layered, the beef slices were juicy and thin, and the scallion added a fresh contrast to top it all off. The mini juicy dumplings with pork were good, with a delicate wrapper and a rich soup inside. The service was fast without compromising on freshness - food was served within 10 minutes. Prices were very affordable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

It was quiet when we got there and full by the time we left. They have every kind of dumpling and they all smack like a mac truck. We also got the szechuan crispy chicken. Highly recommend. Sorry, I only have one photo.

This place has quickly become one of my main go-to spots for Asian cuisine, and for good reason. The restaurant has a traditional, no-frills vibe—nothing fancy—but it’s clean and tidy, which I appreciate. The seating arrangements are plentiful, and the overall atmosphere gives off a welcoming, well-maintained feel. The service is excellent. The servers are always smiling and greet you warmly, making you feel right at home. Now, onto the food—this is where the place truly shines. I have to start with the beef scallion pancake with peppers rolls. They are hands down the best I’ve ever had. I’ve tried a fair share of scallion pancakes, and these are in a league of their own—crispy, flavorful, and beyond any doubt, unbeatable. The steamed dumplings with pork and crab meat were delicious as well. My only minor critique is that the dumpling skin could be a bit thinner. We also tried the steamed fish in spicy broth, which was fantastic. The dish tasted healthy and balanced—packed with flavor but wasnt spicy. Lastly, I gave a try to a rice shumai dish. It was okay but not as impressive as the other dishes. The rice content was a bit heavy, and I was hoping for more meat. Overall, this is one of the best places for traditional Asian meals, and I can’t wait to go back for more. The clean vibe, friendly service, and standout dishes make it a must-visit.

Wow, how terrific! Dumplings were delicious and made with care. The servers helped with some great recommendations too. Loved the scallion pancake beef rolls and the soup dumplings. The twice gooked pork was delicious too. We wished we had more people to try more!

Yelp
Solid, homey Chinese food. Dumpling Xuan seems to cater to people looking for both Americanized and authentic Chinese food. Definitely more old school, with a giant menu covering the "greatest hits" of a variety of cuisines. Its decor was humble but clean, reminds me of Chinese restaurants 20-30 years ago. They have a couple of massive tables and they take reservations, so they'd be a good choice for a large party. When I first walked in, I was a bit concerned seeing multiple groups of people eating what looked like chow mein and orange chicken, but I was quickly reassured of their ability to make legit Chinese food too. You can really get it all here. I think they have one of the best soup dumplings in the Boston area, at least out of the restaurants I've tried. We also ordered Shanghai pan fried bao, lamb with cumin, sautéed string beans, and cauliflower dry pot. Every dish was hot, fresh, and tasty! The service was also really nice and efficient. Prices were slightly high but on par with the Boston area. All in all, I would definitely come back.

Yelp
Came here with a group of 4 and no wait time! We were seated immediately. Good: - Good value for the food, large portions and fast service times - Loved the beef rolls, they were crispy and if you like scallion pancakes, there was one wrapped around the meat - The mapo tofu was good, not too spicy either - Tons of variety on the menu - Relatively quiet interior so you can talk a lot Bad: - You have to speak Chinese to get the best service here Overall this place was authentic Chinese food and Chinese parents liked it, so I think that's a rare win!

Yelp
Food came out very quickly! We ordered a few other items: pork soup dumplings, pork & crab soup dumplings, and beef chow fun. Everything was delicious, seasoned well, and food quality was very good! Dishes tasted fresh and our group devoured everything. Will be back :) Also a huge plus - this restaurant has decent seating. It's sometimes difficult to find a restaurant in Cambridge/Somerville that is able to seat a group and babies. It's good for groups

Yelp
This place in Cambridge is truly a hidden gem! Service is quick. If there's one thing I'd recommend, it's the scallion beef pancakes. They are incredibly flavorful and unforgettable. I honestly DREAM of those pancakes - so so so so SO good! I also tried the beef chow fun and the pork buns. While I found the pork buns lacking in seasoning, the beef chow fun was decent and something I'd order again. I HAVE to return and explore more of their menu. Seeing and hearing other tables enjoy their dishes piqued my curiosity. If the other menu items are anything like the beef scallion pancakes, then SIGN ME UP!

Yelp
The restaurant is simple but clean and efficient. We ordered Hot and Sour soup, Pork and Leek dumplings, Taiwan Style dumplings, Scallion Pancake Beef rolls, and Pan Fried Pork Buns Shanghai Style. The dumplings were good but there wasn't anything about them that stood out and made me want to go back. Surprisingly what I enjoyed the most was my Hit and Sour soup. I would definitely go back and order that again. Unfortunately, the dumplings just started to all taste the same. The waitress was very nice though. I would recommend the restaurant though because it has a large selection of food on the menu. Someone else may try something that does stand out for them.

Yelp
We chose Dumpling Xuan based on some of the other Yelpers I follow - and we LOVED it! I don't think we're food snobs, but we find that many of the local Chinese restaurants are totally boring. Dumpling Xuan is anything but boring. We had their Pork & Leek dumplings (A+ delicious) and Chicken w/cashews (usually pretty ho-hum, but their version was superb). Nice staff, nice decor, and a very pleasant evening! Next time we'll get some adventurous dishes.

Yelp
As someone from the 626 who never would have thought he would find a piece of home here in Boston, I am so happy that I've found my go-to Chinese food spot. Clean and modern decor - no frills, but absolutely 舒服 vibe. Service was excellent - I bumbled my way through a great conversation in Mandarin with the waitress (who gave me great recommendations and was so kind), but I get the sense their English is very much passable. Onto the very affordable and delish foods. Scallion pancake beef roll - amazingly textured, thick 蔥油餅 wrapped around braised beef and what I believe was 甜麵醬. Not your typical 牛肉捲餅 but definitely a fresh take on it. I literally cried tears of joy biting into this lol Taiwan beef noodle soup - this 牛肉麵 isn't the spicy red beef broth I'm often used to getting in the 626, but the flavors were fresh and well-balanced. Per the waitress, they make the bone broth and season it in-house so she recommends folks try it. Crab and pork soup dumplings - bro these 小籠包 will be haunting my dreams. The skin on these had a substantial chew without being overly thick and held together very well. The insides were piping hot with flavorful broth - delicious XLB filling with just a touch of briny sweetness from the crabmeat. Pan-fried pork burns - these were big and flavorful. Insides were heavy on the ginger. A solid dish but I like my 生煎包 a bit smaller, with fluffier bun, and a crispier fried bottom. Free cut oranges, fresh and juicy, afterward for the nostalgia. Definitely will be coming back many, many more times for the rest of my time in Boston.

Yelp
Amazing staff and service. We had a large group, 28 high school students from CA and they accommodated us so well. The food was fresh, and quickly served! The students enjoyed the large family style tables.

Yelp
It was delicious. Service quick and friendly. Everything we had was great! We had the green beans crab Rangoon, dumplings etc. everything was fantastic.

Yelp
Sometimes I just reminisce on Dumpling Xuan - the lobster, the chunky shrimp and chive dumplings (IM DROOLING), baozi, xiao long bao... honestly, I can keep going. The most heart breaking thing is that Boston is so far away from Las Vegas but I can truly say this was some of the best food I've had in a long time - especially, the dumplings. The restaurant was so kind and accommodating to our large group. We had great service and all the food was super fresh and tasty. Sometimes I talk about going back to Boston just to go back here. SGV and LV can't even compare to this. ESPECIALLY, their chive dumplings. Just get them boiled. Enjoy. Then order more. That's what I did with absolutely no regrets. I'll keep dreaming of you, Dumpling Xuan. Hope we can meet again in the future.

Yelp
The lunch special is phenomenal--an entree, rice, and soup for $13. The serving sizes were pretty big and I was able to stretch this across 3 smaller meals. I got the twice cooked pork which was soooo good. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the bok choy added a nice crunch to the dish. 13/10 recommend! PSA they only take card for purchases above $20

Yelp
We stopped by in a hurry to grab a quick bite. Their menu was quite big, but looked legit Chinese food from mainland, but there are also Taiwanese dishes such as stinky tofu. Shanxi sliced noodle as well as orange beef , an Americanized dish. Usually place with this type of menu, it's authenticity may suffer. We ordered pork Napa cabbage dumpling and steamed bao. One bite, we were very pleasantly surprised with the flavor. They were really tasty, with good texture. It was very authentic. We also ordered beef wide rice noodle and a vegetable. Both turned out to be good. The service was quick and friendly. Our waitress was very sweet with a nice smile. She even checked back with us to see if we like their dishes. Good chef, good service, we will be back.

Yelp
I don't hand out 5 stars much these days, it seems that the older I become, the pickier I get on Asian food. I also become apprehensive towards highly rated Chinese restaurants, some of them may have great service & ambience but average food, however, this place has all three. The food is just as good as my fav. Restaurant in Chinatown but much more spacious & cleaner for sure. The pan-fried bao has amazing flavors as well as texture, you can tell it's freshly made by expert hands. The soup dumplings are yummy but not as greasy as many places. The fire stir-fried kidney blossoms are clean tasting, an authentic Chinese dish that most Chinese restaurants do not dare to attempt. Finally I had to add the scallion pancake beef wrap because it's the most highly rated fish on the menu. I can see why, very yummy with both the pancake and the beef flavored with peeking sweet sauce, well done.

Yelp
Ordered delivery and this place lives up to their name. The dumplings were delicious. The soup dumplings weren't very soupy but that's because they don't travel well, so that's on me. They were however delicate and tasty. The pan fried pork and leek dumplings were really good too, good size, portion and taste. The sautéed Shanghai noodles were the star for me. Wonderful savory, umami flavor, lovely texture on the noodles, tender bok choy. Well deserved rating and rave reviews. I can't wait to try some more of their menu.

Yelp
We were walking around and wanted Chinese and this place was so good. It was very clean and the service was great. The servers are very sweet. The menu here was very big! We went with the pork fried rice, beef and string beans, and pork soup dumplings. They were all soooo gooood. When we were full we wanted to box up leftovers and they boxed it up for us. They gave us a couple slices of watermelon too complimentary. We enjoyed our time here and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
First visit here and was not disappointed. The dumplings are the star here (it's in the name) and we had a few diff kinds. The soup dumplings were the best; first time for me and wow. The scallion beef pancake is one of the best I've ever had. Def a must when in the Cambridge area.

Yelp
Got here super late on a Thursday night as we were very hungry after a long day of travel and saw on Yelp that it was still open. Unfortunately they were only doing take-out at that point. Thought about just going somewhere else but decided not to. Man am I glad we did. The woman working the front was very helpful and recommended a few dishes to us. We ended up getting 2 different kinds of dumplings, shrimp (steamed) and fried cabbage/pork. Both were super tasty and perfectly done. You know how sometimes the dumpling can be really tacky and almost gluey in texture? Yeah, these weren't. Also got the scallion pancake beef roll. The pancake had a slightly sweet taste which worked really well with the beef inside. An interesting dish that I would highly recommend! Finally got the Dan Dan noodles with peanuts. The woman who took our order told us that they were kind of spicy but they were not. However they were still super tasty and a definite must try. For a place we found by chance late at night we really lucked out. If you're in Cambridge definitely give Dumpling Xuan a try!
google avatar

Maxwell C.

Yelp
Dumpling Xuan has become one of my top local Chinese spots. The scallion pancake with beef is the best I've found in the area, and the soup dumplings are solid. Also really liked an interesting spicy lamb dish on the house specials menu -- ask the waiter for recommendations. Clean, bright, functional space. I recommend dining in, the food is fine as take out but it's always better hot and fresh from the kitchen.
google avatar

Yelp
In honor of school nurses day last week, we were treated with a takeout order from this restaurant... the food was amazing! The pork soup dumplings were the best we ever had. Will be visiting this location soon!
google avatar

Andy N.

Yelp
Classic Chinese restaurant. They had a vast menu, cute and calm interior, and fast service. The prices are amazing for how much you get, and not a single dish disappointed. Everything was fresh, hot, and delicious. You will not be disappointed. Dumpling Xuan is good during the day, night, and any other time

Yelp
This place was busy on a rainy Saturday night so I had high hopes, we waited for 20 minutes for a table of 4! The pan fried leek dumplings surprisingly had a bit of soup in them, a meaty filling but the dough was a bit gummy. Similarly, the soup dumplings had a very thick and chewy dough and the filling had a stronger soy sauce flavor than usual. 3/5 The pork belly rolls were over saturated with chili oil and the cucumbers were warm and not refreshing. 2/5 The green beans were snappy and just the right amount of mildly spicy! 4/5 My favorite was the chicken and eggplant, the chicken was velveted wonderfully and SO tender, plus the eggplant was super soft so if you don't like mushy foods... 5/5 The stir fried rice cakes were fine and tasted like any other stir fry. 2/5 I might come back to try some other dishes I've had in China but I wouldn't come for the dumplings.

Yelp
I came on a Thursday at 6pm and we were the only ones in the restaurant, but saw a lot of people getting takeout. By the time we left the restaurant was packed! My friend recommended me this place and it was so good. The MUST GET is the scallion pancake beef roll. The sauce from the beef with the scallion pancake was amazing. I didn't try it but i was told the spicy fish fillet is good so definitely gonna come back!
google avatar

Amos I.

Yelp
Five stars for the beef scallion pancake roll. The eggplant was a little oily and spicy and the chives in the pork chive dumplings were a little overpowering, but the beef roll is so so good.

Yelp
A hidden gem in East Cambridge that we stumbled across on a rainy weeknight! Came in with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Overall would come again to try more items on the menu! Experience 4.5/5 We came in around 6:30pm on a rainy weeknight and there were only two other parties at the time, but around 7:30pm a rush of people came in to fill the entire restaurant! Considering that I would not think to come to East Cambridge for Taiwanese and Chinese food, I was pleasantly surprised with how well-kept the interior design looked and how clean the bathroom is, which is always a plus! Our waiter was very nice and was attentive to our table. Food 4.5/5 The Scallion Pancake Beef Rolls here are the best that I've had in the greater Boston area so far. They're crispy, and packed with flavor with every bite. I've ordered the rice cakes with pork and mustard greens at other Taiwanese restaurants before but didn't know what it was called on the menu. Our waiter was a big help by just looking at the picture I showed her and we were able to order this "off the menu" dish! The rice cake dish was super flavorful and quite addicting, something I'll always order! The xiao long bao dish is pretty standard for what it should taste like. However, the Pan Fried Pork Buns (Shanghai Style) were disappointing and did not have much taste.

Vivian C.

Yelp
Pretty authentic Sichuan style cuisine. Services are great! Great for families - has dumplings, fried buns, noodles, and crispy duck for kids and tasty spicy food (Lazi chicken, dandan noodles, spicy ribs etc) for adults! We love going there after visiting the Science Museum. The after meal free oranges are always refreshing too!

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
Amazing food. Amazing service. Lovely atmosphere. The beef scallion roll is incredible. There is not one thing in the menu I didn't like.

Yelp
I've come here twice recently, one for a social gathering with friends and another for a team dinner with colleagues, and I have to say that Dumpling Xuan is a pretty solid staple for Chinese food in the East Cambridge area! I came on Tuesday evenings both times and the place was a little busy, but not overwhelmingly so. A few tables filled up both times so it didn't feel too lively, but not too empty either. I got the same server both times and she was friendly and accommodating for both occasions. Their menu is standardly extensive and covers a wide variety of dishes, making it a little difficult to choose, but eventually we settled on about one dish per person. The buns and baos were pretty good - definitely felt more homemade than the frozen types I'm used to making at home! Each of the main entree dishes were a little small, honestly. For the price we were paying, it definitely felt a little disappointing, especially the flat noodles. The second time I came, we had a gluten-free person with us, and while they couldn't eat any of the soup dumplings, the staff were super accommodating with ensuring that everything else we ordered was without soy sauce and other sources of gluten. Overall, I enjoyed both visits here and wouldn't mind returning. They also have pretty decent bubble tea if folks are interested in the popular drink!

Yelp
Excellent food reasonable prices beautiful dishes. Really enjoyed the wonton soup and soup dumplings. Drove over from south side and it was well worth the trip!!

Yelp
I really enjoyed the dumplings here! If you want Northern Chinese cuisine this is where you want to be. I ordered pork and eat dumplings soup dumplings and watercress with garlic vegetables, General Gaos chicken, mapo tofu, spare ribs on a skewer, beef and black pepper sauce, and Chow fun. I enjoyed everything! Great place to share with big group.

Yelp
Got take out once a few weeks ago but decided to try dining in. We came around 830pm on a weeknight and it wasn't crowded. The server was very friendly and courteous. We got vegetarian steamed dumplings and fried pork with leek dumplings. Both were delicious with good amount of fillings. We also got pork with bamboo shoot (very flavorful and not too salty), sautéed bok choy and green beans (cooked perfectly with a light crunch). We will definitely be back to try the other dishes! We were too hungry to take better photos!

Yelp
I finally made my way over to Dumpling Xuan and it's now one of my favorite restaurants in the area. Not only are their dumplings and spicy dishes good, they make amazing niangao as well! I am always thinking about reasons to return. The pork xiao long bao are very good! Flavorful hot soup, sturdy (but not too thick) skin. Fresh ginger in the dipping sauce (though I would rather have soy sauce than vinegar). It definitely made me want to try more dumplings next time! The niangao was the star of the show. Probably one of the best I've ever had (and I order it whenever it's on the menu). I love the addition of bamboo -- it adds flavor and texture that elevates the dish. Great flavor, perfectly cooked rice cakes, tender flavorful pork, and crunchy veggies. I would come back just for this (and have). The hot and spicy fish fillet was recommended by the waitress. I honestly thought we were getting the boiled fish fillet but this was a delightful surprise. Delicious savory and spicy flavors in the seasoning, tender, crispy, and hot fish fillet...and the peppers were a nice touch as well. I loved it! I would definitely get this again. The eggplant in garlic sauce was pretty sweet and the eggplant was less tender than I like, but it was pretty good overall. The second time we went, we also tried the chive and egg pocket which was tasty, the mapo tofu which I thought was nothing too special (but we did get it vegetarian, which may be different from usual), and the dry chili chicken which was good but not my favorite iteration. Overall the niangao and hot and spicy fish fillet were super delicious and I can't wait to come back and gorge on dumplings next time. The staff are super friendly and accommodating of dietary restrictions and the restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating. I will certainly be back soon.

Yelp
Dined in for the first time and it was a great experience. Restaurant and bathrooms are super clean. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive but not over bearing. Food was delicious as expected! Their soup dumplings are some of the best in Boston.

Yelp
This place always comes up when I'm searching for new spots on Yelp, and I'm so happy I finally tried it! Super tasty with a large menu and so many different kinds of dumplings. It's always pretty full when I walk by, and I'm definitely starting to understand why. For our first order, we tried the below and would actually order every single item again! - Mini juicy buns with pork (probably our favorite thing we tried!) - Beef with Long Horn Peppers Noodle Soup (heads up--when they say spicy here, they mean it, but this was so so good) - Chicken with American Broccoli - Scallion pancake beef roll We ordered takeout, and everything traveled really well. I'd love to come back to eat in the restaurant, it was surprisingly spacious when I walked in to grab the food. I've definitely got my eye on a few different kinds of dumplings for next time! Seems like a great place for a quality, casual meal.

Yelp
Came on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of space. We ordered pork XLB, spicy fish, a beef roll, and a few other items. The food came out within ten minutes. The spicy fish was a surprise as it tasted just like the soup version. Would recommend coming with a group to try a few dishes!
google avatar

Tracy A.

Yelp
Street parking available. I would recommend take out or getting an earlier dinner. We arrived before 7 on a Saturday and they were slammed before we left. Tables were full and front entrance full of waiting customers. Ordering can be done with a server but faster if done through your phone. QR code is available at each table. Food was delicious and service was ok since there were only 2 servers. I would recommend the ribs, sauteed flat noodles with beef, scallion pancakes with beef and spicy peppers. Bubble tea wasn't worth it in my opinion.

Yelp
I was greatly pleased with all the dishes we ordered tonight for takeout. We ended up going with the classics of Shrimp and noodles, pork dumplings, generals Gaus, and fried chicken strips. All the dishes were tasty and fresh. My favorite was the Shrimp noodles ( lo mein) and probably the chicken strips. The fried chicken strips did not match what we saw online but were very tasty. The pork dumplings were large and tasty but was hoping for a bit more filling for there size. Excited to find a local chinese restaurant that has great quality. And look forward to trying more on the menu.

Yelp
Best Chinese food I have found in the Boston area. Hands down. I've been in pursuit of good Chinese food for over the better part of a decade. Can't believe I'm only just now discovering this place. The soups were delicious - hot and sour was just the right amount of spicy and not too greasy; egg drop was perfect. The pork soup dumplings were also excellent. Not too greasy, perfect textured skins and proportion of meat. The home style tofu and stir fried string beans were also delicious. Only dish we didn't love was the sesame chicken - but perhaps it's more about not loving this dish generally vs that they didn't execute it well. The service was fast and friendly. Prices are reasonable ($100 for lunch for family of four). We ended with a yummy boba tea. Street parking is also pretty convenient around there.

Yelp
Food is consistently great albeit a little on the pricier side for Chinese food. We are repeat customers!

Yelp
5 stars for the A14. Scallion Pancake Beef Roll W. Spicy Peppers! Highly recommend!!! The shrimp dumplings were good (if you like steamed dumplings), the beef teriyaki was okay, we didn't pack up the leftover dry chicken dish with the overpowering star anise, BUT I would drive an hour just for the scallion pancake beef roll. Period. Will be back for more!

Yelp
Great find. The food is flavorful and portions are generous. The lunch menu wasn't too inspiring, so order off the regular menu.

Yelp
A lowkey spot in Cambridge that serves delicious, authentic dumplings. The Taiwan noodle soup with beef was light but incredibly packed with flavor; the beef was tender and soft - definitely a must try. Of course, I also had to get the buns (xiao long bao). The wrap was light and thin, the pork was flavorful and bursting with that savory soup when you bite into it. My only critique would be that the pork was not as tender as some other dumpling places I've been to, which is why it gets 4 stats. Overall solid spot for dumplings in Boston.

Yelp
A small and cozy restaurant that served variety of Chinese food. Hot and sour soup was good, not to spicy and not to sour, I like it that doesn't taste any white pepper in there. Soup dumplings was wow (is a must) the filling wrap was between chewy and firm, firm but not a thick wrap, chewy but bitable, the wrap was thin but it hold the soup inside the bun and didn't break or exploded while is was steaming (some place happens). The wrap was so firm that if you don't make a hole to drain the soup before eat it, it might exploded the soup all over your clothes (that happened to me) Noodle with sauce was a bit plain in flavor, it lack of seasoning or something The spicy chicken was good but not my favorite, is made with dry chili and is mala spicy style, I really don't like the numbing taste Service was good, although was like 8 tables at the same time she manages all

Yelp
Decided to check this place out with the hubby due to a last minute craving for Dim Sum! Didn't have a chance to try out the whole menu but did enjoy a few of the dishes we ended up getting. Service was super fast! Our food came out so quickly and our server was so kind! She helped us choose a few options! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
I tried the juicy buns with pork and the spring rolls from dumpling xuan it did not disappoint. I called ahead and my order was ready in 10 minutes. I came slightly earlier than 10 minutes and was able to pay with cash, they prefer cash, and then I took a seat in the booth by the window until my food was ready. Ready. It was ready in a couple minutes and the whole place seemed rather quiet, but it was just 5:00. On a Thursday. I saw a cool tank in the back with crabs and lobsters and I think I would definitely try the fresh crab from here because that looked really cool. Prices are fair. The food is good

Yelp
Was in the area and decided to check it out. Parking is difficult to find but then you can say that about everywhere in Cambridge. Ordered some things recommended by other Yelpers but TBH it wasn't the great culinary experience I expected. The lobster in garlic and vermicelli was fresh and made to order, but the flavor was completely overpowered by the sliced pork belly in garlic sauce and steamed chicken in chili sauce - both of which were like sauce with a side of meat, and if you have high BP I suggest you bypass these two dishes. I really couldn't taste the lobster after having the two dishes first. Steamed buns were pretty good, and the scallion pancake beef roll was OK but with too much mushu pork sauce and became mushy after a short while.

Yelp
Dumplings yesss! Came by with a few friends and we tried the shrimp dumplings, pork buns, pork soup dumplings, beef scallion pancake, and the egg drop soup. Everything was good but the weird stand out was the egg drop soup. It was sooo good! I'd definitely come back and try additional items. I've had the beef scallion pancake a few places so I'd recommend Chinatown for that over this spot. Service was good and we had tea as well. Glad this is open! Way better to have more options on this side of Cambridge.

Yelp
Ordered takeout today! 4.5/5 Great experience with delivery and even better food. We enjoyed the Taiwan dumplings, hot and sour soup, General Tso chicken, eggplant in garlic sauce, and crab Rangoon! Truly good quality and appreciated the restaurant including some hot chili sauce for my husband and I upon request. Only constructive feedback would be for the price point, they should really include at least white rice with the entrees. Would order again.

Yelp
Dumpling Xuan was one of the few places nearby that was open on Christmas that we hadn't tried yet, so we decided to order takeout. My partner ordered the spicy chicken, which was good (but not amazing) & super spicy even for him (who has a pretty high tolerance for heat). I ordered the home style tofu, which was drowning in watery sauce & only came with a few vegetables (I think I counted 4 tiny pieces of bell pepper, 2 mushrooms, & 2 unidentified veggies which I think were jicama). The tofu was okay flavor, but super soggy/limp/wrinkly. I ended up draining most of the sauce since it was so soup-like. We also split an order of scallion pancakes which were really yummy & the best thing in the bag. Unfortunately, both of us felt sick almost immediately after eating and were still feeling it the next day. We had about half of the food left, which we ended up throwing away out of fear of getting more tummy trouble :( For two entrees, the side of pancakes, & 2 sides of rice, it was about $70 (which is a little too high for us to risk trying again).

Yelp
Hmm. Had several types of dumplings and all were delicious. Not sure how we ended up eating here since it's not close to where we are staying but food was very good. Hit the spot.
