"The Dunbar House Tea Room and Wine Bar is in Sandwich’s town center, housed in a beautifully restored 1800s carriage house on a hill overlooking Shawme Pond. The Dunbar House is owned by Kathryn Wolstenholme, who was born and raised on Cape Cod, and has been in the ownership of only six families throughout its 250-year history. Enjoy a traditional three-tier afternoon tea, including a pot of tea, scone with jam and cream, assorted finger sandwiches, and dessert, in the quaint interior or on the patio. In addition to traditional afternoon tea, Dunbar offers a full lunch menu of British fare, including ale, cider, and wine. Favorites include a mini beef Wellington, roast turkey sandwich, smoked salmon plate, curried chicken salad, and Guinness-braised beef stew. Perfect for a rainy day on the Cape and even better for a sunny one, when you can enjoy a long lunch and take a stroll through the historic Sandwich and along Shawme Pond." - Anna Darrow

This was hands down just a perfect experience. We celebrated an early Mothers Day and this may have just been the start of a new tradition. The rooms were cozy and elegant at the same time. There was a wide variety of teas served it individual pots with a cute warming wrap. The sandwiches were tasty and the pastries delectable. There were different options for high teas with a vegetarian and gluten free option. Service was on point and our server Jeremy was friendly and attentive. The beef Wellington bites were fabulous. Highly highly recommend. Made a reservation already for another visit.

We had tea at the Dunbar House Tea Room last week, and it was a mixed experience. The service was very good, as were the teas themselves, but I was surprised that our tea cozy was stained by previous encounters with tea. It made me wonder how frequently they were laundered. I was surprised as well to find kitchen strainers being used to strain our tea rather than tea strainers. We paid close to $100 for two people’s afternoon tea, and it seemed to almost laughable to be straining my tea with a kitchen implement when we were dining so formally. One tiered plate set was off kilter, while the other one was wobbly. Afternoon tea is always a delight, but I probably would not bring a friend here to celebrate her birthday.

The Dunbar Tea Room is a favorite for spending an afternoon with my mom, and sometimes my daughters. The place is lovely. The food has always been delicious and the drinks delightful. I love the chai with rum. The roast fingerling potatoes are not to be missed! My friends and I attended a Halloween event last year and loved it! What I call the tower of treats with finger sandwiches, petit fours, mini scones, etc... a hot pot of herbal tea in a cozy, what fun! The servers are always charming and friendly as well.

I have been to enough tea rooms to have an opinion. This is by far my favorite and the only one worth coming back to and this is my 4th time back. If you are looking for frilly dresses, harpists playing Downton Abbey greatest hits, fancy hats and bone dry sandwiches - do NOT come here. When I come here, it feels like coming home for a cup of tea and maybe a splash of something else. Everything is freshly made, the sandwiches are perfect, scones are amazing, the tea is wonderful, and the ambiance is perfect. If you are fully inclined for a nice dress and a lovely hat no one would bat an eye here....just remember to be comfortable. Afternoon tea is about good tea, good food and great friends (or just a good book). I left my fancy fan in the car. :)

Charming lunch place and the food was exquisite! Love that the scones were hot, and the bread pudding not soggy. Highly recommend the English pea soup, the crumpet toastie, and the delectable mushroom salad.

Awesome place ! Recently dined there with my boyfriend for our anniversary together. The atmosphere was very warming considering it’s a sunroom. I digress over experience was just 10/10 .

Finally had a chance to go to the Dunbar Tea Room with my mother and daughter for moms birthday. We initially sat in the main dinning room. It's really beautiful. But it's extremely loud and echos like one other reviewer said. We moved and sat outside. It took a bit for our waitress to come over to us but she thanked us for our patience (which goes a long way!). She even brought out a second pot of tea for my mother who didn't care for the first flavor (she's picky 🤣). I got the punch fruit tea and mom ended up with the orange blossom. They were both wonderful. All three of us had the Windsor tea tray. My daughter gobbled hers right up. I ate almost everything as well. I wasn't a fan of the roast beef crostini but mom loved it! The cucumber cream cheese sandwich and the chicken salad croissants were incredible and definitely the highlights for me. Loved the blueberry scone and the jam was so good. All the little desserts were good too. I will absolutely be coming back and telling everyone about it! EDIT: I went back several months later and sat inside with my sister. Same experience! Fantastic food, fabulous atmosphere, took a very long time to first be seen by our waitress as well as the table next to us. I absolutely will be back. I love it. But I do wish they would acknowledge a table a little earlier even with a "I'll be right with you!" Still a fan!

Stopped here for tea after our glass museum excursion, ended up with a fantastic meal and lots of fun! Our server Alana was also the house bartender. She made fabulous suggestions on teas, food, drinks, desserts... it was all delicious! Welsch Rarebit, Chicken Leek Pie.. the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake... OMG!! Make reservations, or better yet, sit at the bar with Alana!

Yelp
A local Gem! Had a delightful luncheon with the grands! It was busy but service was friendly . The girls had "kids tea"" and enjoyed sampling the treats and the eldest recommend the Mac and cheese! Nice relaxing afternoon with delicious options for all .

Yelp
Came here to celebrate Valentine's Day with my mum this week. It was incredible. The Afternoon tea selections were perfect - we shared the "Windsor Afternoon tea", the potato and leek soup and the cheese fondue. All of it was yummy but our favorite was the soup! The ambiance is equal parts cozy and peaceful with a little fireplace and warm tea. We could've spent all day there! If you haven't been yet, add it to your bucket list!

Yelp
I really enjoy this quaint restaurant in Sandwich Massachusetts. This is the third time that I have been here in the last several years and each time we bring members of our family with us to share in this unique experience. Whether you have older children or younger children they can accommodate you. Situated in an older home The Tea Room has a wide selection of teas and different meal options you can choose from. I recently had the Windsor Tea Service. It comes with a fresh pot of tea and I could choose the type of tea I wanted. It's served in a sweet little pot that's all yours with some delectable sandwiches, scones and desserts. We also had appetizers before our tea service which were also delicious. Wonderful deviled eggs, a cheese board that really set the tone for the rest of our meal. They also have other lunch and dessert specials that you can buy individually. Looking for something different in 2024? Then you need to check out the Dunbar House Tea Room and Wine Bar. I'm sure you'll be very pleased.

Yelp
Our visit to Dunbar House left us with a longing for more delicious tea and a yearning for another day of relaxation. Three of our party ordered a variety of tea (there are quite literally a hundred) and it was served brewing in personal pots with "kettle socks" swaddling the vessels. Cute. The beef sandwich was yummy. Our only concern was the price of the personal lemon cake. Thinking it would be large enough to quash the sweet tooth of two, we were informed that, in fact, it's the size of a cupcake. So why, then, is it priced at $18?!? Does it bestow magical powers upon the consumer once ingested? Does the frosting instill a sense of omniscience? No, sadly, these embellishments in character and ability are not benefits of the diminutive treat. You'll still be who you were prior to your meal. I must inquire as to the value of an $18 cupcake. Did I miss something? Our server, Tania, was blasè but in a pleasantly defiant manner, as though aware that an $18 cupcake is a crime against humanity. She was arguably the best part of our experience. This was a nice outing, overall, but likely a one-off. Worth a try for many but only a few will be tan-"tea"-lized enough to become regulars. Be your own judge...and tell me if you order the $18 cupcake.

Yelp
Great food and great service! The young staff were especially nice. Beautiful plates and teacups and the food really gave authentic English tea, however they were out of clotted cream, however I could have just popped by on an especially busy day. Very relaxed and chill ambiance, I felt no rush to leave.

Yelp
Really great food and service. A very nice place to eat and relax in the way to Provincetown, Ma

Yelp
The ambiance was perfect. We felt like we were at a giant tea party. We loved that they had teapot cozy's. A waitress was so helpful giving us suggestions on how to order and what to order.. we all enjoyed the three tiered serving platters. One tier had the sandwiches another had some desserts and another had fruits. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will go back again.

Yelp
While the Dunbar was beautifically decorated for Christmas, we felt as if we were "rushed" out so that others could be seated. We did have a reservation, but were not even finished eating when our waitress brought us "to go" boxes and the check. She explained that other parties were waiting, and we felt it was made clear that our time was up. Had this been explained at the time of making a reservation that there was limited time to be seated, we may have chose another time to go there. The food was good but we were disappointed that we could not spend more time to enjoy the restaurant experience.

Yelp
We came across the Dunbar house after walking around Sandwich on Labor Day. What a find. This place is a beautiful setting to enjoy high tea as well as other lunch foods. This is definitely a place to bring visiting guests for a fantastic experience

Yelp
I've been the The Dunbar House Tea Room several times and have thoroughly enjoyed my visits to this establishment. A terrific selection of teas, great food in the English manner and a very cosy atmosphere. We went here today for lunch and while I have had what's called 'The Windsor Tea' before (I've included a photo) one of my companions ordered that while the other and I ordered starters and main courses. I will describe what I had. I started off with Deviled Eggs, served with dressed field greens. They were quite tasty, if a little underwhelming, flavor-wise. Certainly not off putting at all. I followed up with a shrimp salad croissant with more of the field greens and some veggies as a salad on the side. This was excellent! I loved every bite. One thing I will say is that the server left all of the pre-set china as well as used dishes on the table without clearing my teacup, strainer, and tea plate (I wasn't having hot tea) while bringing all of our food at once requiring us to juggle used or unnecessary service ware while he placed the food on the already laden table. As the food and ambiance were great, won't drop points for an untrained server. Do give this place a try. The set teas are very nice and are a lovely way to spend the afternoon and chat with dear friends.

Yelp
This was my second time at Dunbar House and both times were great! Joey was great both times - very polite and friendly. The champagne tea was very good, loved all of the sandwiches and snacks. Also tried the split pea soup this round and it was very tasty. A huge variety of teas to choose from. We ate in the 1920's hearth and loved the holiday decorations. Dunbar does a great job of making the place festive for the holidays. Would come back around the holidays or any time of the year!

Yelp
I went tonight for a Halloween Spooky Tales dinner event and would not recommend the event but separate this critique from the venue itself. The food and service ( 4 course meal) were excellent the entertainment was much too long and the speaker appeared to be totally unengaged from the audience. We paid close to $50 pp and were basically read to for over 80 minutes from The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and it was. difficult to engage with our dinner groups. I think Dunbars is a great venue for an afternoon tea but would have much preferred short snip its of entertainment vs one extra long program. The majority of guests were getting restless.

Caitlyn S.

Yelp
Every year the ladies of the Cape come here for afternoon tea and basically take over the place. Their selection is MASSIVE, and the presentation is so cute and quaint. The appetizers and tea sandwiches are delicious as well. It's a fun thing to get dressed up after being on the beach all week.

Beth C.

Yelp
We went for lunch. We both had the Windsor afternoon tea. I had a pot of peach ginger tea with mine. We enjoyed everything from food, service and atmosphere. I do not have another tea room to compare with. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
3 of my friends and I decided to take our daughters here for the first time today, for a mommy daughter tea date. We were so excited and our girls loved how they were given American girls dolls with high chairs and play tea sets. The girls were having so much fun, but while waiting for our check the owner VERY rudely came out and said the girls were disturbing the rest of the guests and they needed to be quiet. There was no warning, just a blanket rude statement of be quiet or leave. As a business owner myself, I can't imagine speaking to customers that way. I'm confused why children are given dolls and play sets in the restaurant if they are only to be seen and not heard? Giving 2 stars because the waitress was amazing and honestly the food was excellent. It's a shame that we won't return because of how judged and disrespected the owner made us feel.

Yelp
I went in by myself in route to Nh before hitting the Bourne Bridge. What a quaint little spot. They offer indoor and outdoor dining but the outside does not offer any shade nor tents so I dined inside. I was in the red room, small seats about 12 people and all two tops, the room is dark. I waited a long time for a server to even great me as she walked passed me several times but never even acknowledged my presence until I had to stop her. I ordered the BLT croissant daily special and it came with hot chunks of potatoes and I would order it again. The server knew it was my first visit here and it may of been helpful if she went over how the tea is served and options as the menu is overwhelming if you are not a daily tea drinker like myself. It was a Earl grey that I ordered and it was fresh, tasted amazing! The poor couple next to me had a gift certificate that they would not honor because they said it is new owners and they would need to contact the old owners about the certificate. The couple was so upset and I can see why. You would thinking you sell the business everything transfers. The server was not at all sincere. The manager or owner really should of came over to the table to handle the matter. This was a turn off to witness. If I go back I would sit in the other room where natural light is offered through the big picture windows. This is a place to check out and I imagine it would be a nice experience for a shower. Oh dessert a slice of chocolate cake with raspberry filling was great but large portion is good for two not one, $10 almost the price of my sandwich. Lunch, tea, and cake for one was $25.

Yelp
We were driving from Boston to Provincetown and thought we would find something in Sandwich. We happened to land at Dunbar and were exceptionally pleased. The ambiance is what you would expect from a tea house. Quite quaint. Tania was our server, she was great at making recommendations. White wedding tea was a good accompaniment to lobster on a croissant. Duck was excellent as well. I am baffled why some reviewers have given a low score.

Dit P.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I have frequented the Dunbar since the original owners and enjoyed most of the menu, watching it change and cheapen over the years, making it less a rich meal and more a rich owner. The past two times I tried to get reservations, calls were made during business hours, messages left, but never returned. They must be doing well to be so rude and unprofessional to just ignore customers, especially customers for decades.

Yelp
My husband and I went for a date night on their Wintertide Chef's Dinner event and it was super yummy!!! Such cozy and pretty venue for a fine dinner. The food, I was speechless. We'll definitely be back! (Also, I tried their high tea with my friends on a weekend and it was awesome too!) Dinner and High Tea photos are all below

Yelp
My friend and I just had the English tea at the Dunbar . It is our yearly tradition and it was delightful . The food was on par per usual . What really made the experience exceptional was the staff. Tanya was our server and she was outstanding . . Her kind , helpful manner made the experience so lovely . She was extremely knowledgeable about all the teas.and the menu in general . We then met Emma who chased us down in the parking lot to return my hat . Truly one of my favorite restaurants on Cape Cod .

Ron W.

Yelp
Had a lovely lunch here with my wife. We got the Turkey sandwich which was excellent. Lots of people were getting the tea service which looked good as well. They have multiple options for one or two guests. Also a ton of tea choices. It was also packed so make reservations!

Jennifer O.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday and we shared a Windsor afternoon tea. It had the traditional components of an English afternoon tea but did not feel like a super authentic experience. With that said, everything tasted pretty good and the venue was nicely set up and socially-distanced. Starting with the sandwiches, we got 2 fairly large portions of each one (vs what we got in London), with the smoked salmon and curry chicken being the better ones. The smoked salmon was a bit salty and the croissants that came with the curry sandwich didn't taste very fresh. The chicken curry itself was very good. The scones came out warm and were both quite tasty but had a more biscuit-like consistency and look vs a traditional English scone. Clotted cream and raspberry jam were both nice. Desserts were all pretty good, and my favorite was the Victorian tea cake - light and refreshing! FYI the tea is not included in the Windsor afternoon tea so you have to order separately ($4/pot) but they will continue to refill your pot with hot water. I got the jasmine green tea and it was a safe choice to go with. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're looking to have a private and quiet afternoon over tea and treats.

Yelp
Food - Excellent Environment - Fun Waitress - Fantastic Owner: HORRIBLE! If you have Children - Stay far away from this business. We went to the Dunbar to have a Mother and Daughter day with our 4 year old girls and everything was going well. We had been there for about almost 2 hours at this point (food took a little longer to come out) as anyone with children knows kids are good for maybe 2 hours in this type of setting. Our girls were finished with their meals and were marching around the table and laughing. They were having fun and being kids! No one was in the room with us at this time.. How could they be disturbing anyone??? The owner marched herself into the room we were sitting in. She didn't introduce herself or say excuse me or say can I have a moment of your time.. but instead chose to scold us like little children about how I children were misbehaving and bothering her other guests. How about the guests you were talking to? We were left in shock at how we were treated. Here's a suggestion.. set a tea time for kids.. or don't do it at all. Your business is a casual setting not high tea! Get over yourself! Kids were just being kids. Anyone who has children understands the basics. You were not kind, understanding, or empathetic. You acted entitled and rude. Just because you own the place doesn't give you the right to treat guests badly.

Madison H.

Yelp
The owner and manager, Kate, has an absolutely HORRENDOUS attitude. Quite literally the least hospitable environment I've been in in a very long time. We walked in to inquire about hosting a baby shower there and it was as if every question we asked was an inconvenience. She looked at us as if we were stupid for asking very standard questions. We actually started chuckling at one point because we thought it was a joke. Upon asking around after this experience we were informed by two other family friends that they had the same experience with her. Kate, if you can't get a better attitude then please get out of the hospitality industry. I happen to work for a well-known PR company and my husband is a professional athlete - great job blowing an opportunity for significant exposure and a good chunk of money in your pocket. I RECOMMEND ALL TO GO ELSEWHERE, as we will be doing

Marina S.

Yelp
My recent visit to Dunbar Tea House in Sandwich, MA left much to be desired. Despite the hefty price tag of $32 per person for afternoon tea, the quality of the food was severely lacking. It made me question whether the sandwiches and pastries were freshly made in-house or bought from wholesale megastores. Having experienced delightful tea houses in the UK, I expected better than sandwiches seemingly made with wonder bread and pastries lacking in freshness. Even the fruits and berries failed to meet expectations. Overall, a disappointing experience for the price paid.

Krissy W.

Yelp
An absolutely lovely tea room experience. I went with a friend and they managed to get us in without much wait since we don't have a reservation. We got the Windsor and Buckingham Afternoon Teas and they were really good. We couldn't even finish the desserts. I would definitely go back!

Stephen T.

Yelp
My sister-in-law and I have been going to the Dunbar for many many years. Today we were greeted by a very disgruntled hostess, who immediately told us that there were no available tables without a reservation, which was fine, but she could've greeted us with a smile, or had somewhat of a better disposition being the first face that you see when you walk into the Establishment. she was straight up rude not sure we will be back. We were very disappointed with the nastiness of her greeting.

Linda A.

Yelp
Good food. Quick and polite service. I got the dumplings, herbed bread and tarkari. The owner was a friendly guy who stopped by our table to check on our spice level. You order it at a level between 1 and 10.

Jen W.

Yelp
I have been going to Dunbar for lunch and high tea for years, it is always excellent and simply darling! On my most recent visit this past weekend, it is clear the new owner is doing fantastic things for this place too - she has retained its classic style but everything felt more elevated. The food was fantastic, and the place was energized. They have a bunch of fun holiday and themed events too, which only adds to the charm. This visit I enjoyed the clam chowder which was absolutely incredible with diced sweet potato, and the high tea was delicious! The sandwiches were creative, and desserts divine. Plus the service was friendly, and the crowd lively - not an empty seat in the house. The owner even took time to talk to me about different teas and how I could make them at my home, so I bought a lovely single serve cup and a couple different teas. This place is precious and such a wonderful part of Sandwich. And I'm thrilled with the enhancements the new owner has made. Can't wait to return!!

Deirdre C.

Yelp
I recommend the Dunbar House to some friends based on a visit a few years ago. We went today and I was not impressed at all. The food was subpar, couldn't identify what the sandwiches were because there was so little filling. We got the $80 champagne option () and the waitress who was extremely condescending, poured two full glasses and a half glass for three of us?! And walked away. Very disappointing and will not go back.

Steffen R.

Yelp
Came for tea, and boy did we get tea. Very happy with the service and the food. The outside garden was a great setting for an early afternoon tea time and even the tea snobs of the group were very happy with their orders. We had about 10 different teas by the end of the meal circulating the table. Ended up leaving with an extra dozen of assorted scones with all the fixings, even the plain scone with currants which I've found is hard to pull off just right. Even came back a few months later on a drive by and picked up another dozen or so scones, the available flavors cycle regularly. Very satisfied and will be returning as well as directing people to enjoy a tea time afternoon at the Dunbar!

Krystyana R.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to dine! I absolutely love afternoon tea and this place is dreamy. The service has been exceptional every time and everything is homemade and delicious. I had the best butternut squash soup ever there. If you want a break from tea, they also have a bar with fun tea-themed cocktails! I made the 1.5 hour day trip just to take my mom here because I needed to share the experience. Thanks for being great, Dunbar!

Sharon K.

Yelp
I visited Dunbar Tea many times in the past but I was greatly disappointed when I visited with a guest and attempted to use a $100 gift certificate that I received just before COVID and in the interim ownership changed hands. The waitress informed us that it was no longe accepted. I spoke to the the owner/manger who refused to honor the certificate and said we could sue the previous owner. What a great disappointment to be treated this way. I can no longer visit this place again. How sad

Kellie F.

Yelp
A group of us attended the Spooky Tales dinner last night at the Dunbar. The food was excellent, the wine pour generous, the service great but the "Tales" aspect of the night was VERY unenjoyable. Although the hired entertainer was pleasant, a complete 80 minute reading of the "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" was entirely too long. We were unable to visit with our friends and felt trapped in an awkward situation. Even the waitstaff were apologizing for the experience. The audience grew quite restless and gave up politeness about an hour into the reading and attempted to salvage some social experience out of the evening. Our table of 7 paid over $90 for this night out and left frustrated and relieved that it was over.

Amy K.

Yelp
Great place and wonderful afternoon tea! Our family had a wonderful time. The staff was very friendly and the service was great.

Lois E.

Yelp
We had a wonderful baby shower. The staff was excellent, and the food was delicious! I can't wait to go back for tea, but it is a really lovely and unique place to have a function. Every one of our guests were impressed with the Dunbar house. Can't say enough good things about it!

Mark P.

Yelp
I have been remiss in not posting a review of the SIX special event dinners we've attended at the Dunbar House going back to the Oktober Fest dinner in October of 2022 and the Charles Dickens dinner in December 2022 right through last Saturday's special National Rose' Day dinner on June 10th. Four of us have attended all six meals and each meal--always organized around a theme--has been outstanding in terms of ambience, service, and food. On a few occasions, the meals were served buffet-style, but mostly the meals have been plated and served, sometimes with wine pairings and sometimes with purchased beverages appropriate to the meal. A big shout out of admiration and appreciation to Chef Patrick Hurley, the inspiration and executor of these gastronomical delights, and to the wait staff for their impeccable presentation of the meal. Each meal has been memorable for the number of courses exquisitely prepared and in some cases, in addition to outstanding food, a theatrical presentation (as was the case with the Dickens Dinner where the entire Christmas Carol was performed during the course of the meal). Dunbar posts these special event meals on their website a few months a head of time and it is very easy now (through Resy) to make reservations. We are all looking forward to what the summer and early fall will bring from Chef Hurley. These special dinner events, are, without a doubt, one of the top dining experiences on the Upper Cape.

Lisa P.

Yelp
Adorable Tea Room and Wine Bar! We enjoyed a delicious lunch and had excellent service! I had the afternoon tea which included delicious sandwiches, a pumpkin scone and variety of desserts. My family members enjoyed quiche of the day, Clam Chowder, and Curry Chicken Stew. All delicious We will be back!!

Yelp
Good tea & lovely space. Enjoy the atmosphere, thinking of All Creatures Great & Small!

Yelp
The food is always amazing. Have been coming here for 20 years and never disappointed. Menu even better with new owner. Service is superb. Best to have a reservation for weekend, but I prefer weekdays

Heather G.

Yelp
So glad we stumbled upon this place! Wide array of teas to choose from. The full afternoon tea was delicious. Highly recommend !

Kait M.

Yelp
Great food and exceptional service in a cozy, homey environment. Also love the seasonal themed menus and the character teas for the kids.

Yelp
We were driving around Sandwich and looking for a place to eat lunch early today. What a find!!! First I called to make sure they were open and the hostess was very friendly and assured me they were open. We arrived and the same hostess was pleasant as she gave us a brief tour and walked us to our table. Next our waitress, I believe her name is Elena, greeted us, very respectfully in light of Covid restrictions, and explained the menu and pointed out various parts of it so that we wouldn't miss anything. Everything we ordered was above and beyond our expectations. So fresh, so creative and incredibly delicious. What a gem this restaurant/tea room is, especially during these crazy times. Other customers at two other tables finished, while we ate, and each of them were complimentary of every thing, too. We are grateful they are open, grateful that they also offer a take out menu, including family dinner choices for two, and that their food is amazing. The individual rooms are gorgeous, the presentation of food was beautiful, and the music in the background was relaxing and perfect.

Michael T.

Yelp
If I am being honest, I am a guy who is way more comfortable at a steak house. I know that when I go out and pay for a meal, I want to be full and satisfied at the end. I didnt think DunbarTea House would fit the bill. I was deliciously wrong. With their new chef and ownership, the Dunbar Tea House creates amazing meals that are very filling (if you want them to be). The hot turkey sandwich is a must, combining sweet and savory, as is the shrimp and corn chowder (sorry New England Clam). Pair that with their tantalizing tea flavors, and its just pinkies up all day. They still offer finger sandwiches and light fare as well for the less voracious, but ladies, I guarantee your husbands will be more than stuffed when they get up if they really want to be. I cant wait to go back.

Yelp
The Five Course "Wintertide" Dinner at the Dunbar House was exceptional. Chef Patrick surpassed our expectations. Everything was outstanding from the truffle bread to start all the way to the dessert. His ability to combine flavors and his presentations were spot on. The first course, scallops with corn polenta combined with onions, bacon jam, and brussel sprouts was absolutely delicious. The second course of thinly sliced pan seared tuna served with black garlic purée..woah, and fried shallots was so tender and flavorful. The third course, duck confit, melted off the bone and for the fourth course of roasted prime tenderloin paired with a Stilton potato croquette was cooked to perfection. The dinner ended with a banana foster bread pudding with tahitian vanilla ice cream was a perfect way to end the meal. I'm really looking forward to Chef Patrick's next dinner special.

Yelp
I cannot say enough nice things about Dunbar Tea Room. My family has been going to visit Dunbar for years and it is always exceptional; we were a little worried when they changed ownership a few years ago but the new owner greatly improved the experience and variety of food/ drink options in my opinion. It can be difficult to get the full afternoon tea experience anywhere in the States but Dunbar does a great job of it; they also have many other delicious food and drink selections besides tea, scones, and finger sandwiches. I'm always encouraging friends who have never heard of Dunbar to go because I think it is a fun experience for people of all ages! Thank you Dunbar Tea Room for always creating a warm and fun dining experience.

Yelp
Every year we kick off our Cape vacation with lunch at the Dunbar House. And it never disappoints. Beautiful restaurant both inside and outside. Friendly professional staff. Terrific food; whether you chose lunch or tea. The cocktail I ordered had ice cubes in the shape of roses-how nice is that! Huge fan of the chicken salad on a trumpet-Yummy!! Make a reservation-have lunch-ENJOY

Yelp
Dunbar House has it all Decor, great food, excellent tea, great staff. My friends and I have been many times it is such a elegant treat. My husband knowing how much I love it sent myself and eleven friends there for my fifty-th birthday party. I recomend going the full high tea at least once. The combination of sandwiches and sweets is decadent. Try different teas you may come up with a new favorite. You can buy the tea after you try it. I find Dunbar House a treat that you should indulge in often.
