Duncan Street Sandwich Shop - Review - Millvale - Pittsburgh - The Infatuation

"There are plenty of guides that are going to tell you to beeline straight for Primanti Brothers to get a sandwich with coleslaw and french fries on it. It’s a piece of the city’s history and worthwhile for that alone. But that’s not where we’re going to send you - when we want a sandwich, we go to Duncan St. Sandwich Shop. Served on homemade focaccia and solidly the size of a brick, options include the Everything Seasoned Pork (our go-to), Rosemary/Brown Sugar/Black Pepper Turkey, and Roasted Mushroom (vegan). While you’re there, be sure to try the homemade sodas, peanut carrots, and daily homemade Rice Krispies treats." - Madeline Quigley

Two of us ordered the Rosemary/brown sugar/ black pepper turkey sandwich, ginger salad & roasted potatoes. The ample meal was delicious and filling. Big, crusty bread, but plenty of fillings and flavors. The turkey was moist and tender. The salad was fresh, colorful, textural and tangy. The potatoes were dressed with an herbaceous sauce, a perfect side. A lovely patio made our visit complete.

Duncan Street Sandwich Shop in Millvale, PA is a popular spot known for its creative and flavorful sandwiches, such as the everything pork and rosemary brown sugar black pepper turkey. The shop uses high-quality ingredients and everything is made from scratch. It has a casual atmosphere and reasonable prices. However, the shop can get busy during peak hours, so it's highly recommended to call ahead for takeout or delivery.

I could slap myself for living in Millvale for a whole year before trying this gem. Duncan Street Sandwich Shop is always a great experience and everything we've tried has been excellent. The BBQ sweet potato, toasted cheese, Nashville hot turkey, all the sides, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Keep an eye on their rotating homemade sodas too, they're just sweet enough with unique flavor combinations.

There is elegance without pretension in the flavors and preparation. And the location and setting are simple without being spare. Everything is fresh and, if it's not made on-site, its locally-sourced. It all tasted great! Amazing soup, perfectly cooked and garnished turkey and pork sandwiches on fresh baked sourdough bread. Hearty but not heavy side of root vegetables. Home made sodas (Ginger cinnamon was wonderful). And they cater. Went back today, 8/21/22. I won't say they're the best sandwiches in Pittsburgh because I've not had every sandwich in Pittsburgh. But, I'd be hard pressed to say anyone else's sandwiches could compare.

Do yourself a favor and go try this place! Everything is home made and SO GOOD! The chickpea salad is the best thing I've eaten in a while! Turkey sandwich was so yummy, and so was their ginger soda! Overall a great experience and the owners are the kindest people!!

Unique and delicious menu. You know a sandwich is good when the bread holds up till the last bite. Love the fresh sides they have and their house made sodas are amazing

Got the regular black pepper roast turkey sandwich. 1st, the bad. I literally only have 1 critique and it’s that the crust is super hard to bite because of the general crustiness. It really hurts to bite down on it so you have to use your front molars like an straight up wolf. Other than that, albeit messy, the sandwich was great. I got it to go so it was a little cold, but still very delicious. The turkey was not dry, had nice thick slices, and held up as the basis of the sandwich. The goat cheese added a nice creamy factor that didn’t over power with sourness. The lettuce and nut thing? was a crispy element and finally, that balsamic was to die for. I literally dipped the sandwich in the sauce that dropped out. For $10 it was well worth it and I will definitely be back. Watch out because there are only 5 seats in the place and 3 of them are bar stools. Also, the Mexican chocolate rice crispie has a very surprising spice to it that made the thing just that much more interesting. Give it a go guys!
