Class Action Lawsuit Claims Charging More for Oat Milk Is Discriminatory | Eater

"A national coffee-and-doughnut chain is facing a class-action lawsuit alleging that adding a $0.50–$2.15 surcharge for nondairy milks discriminates against customers with lactose intolerance and milk allergies. Plaintiffs filed in late December in Northern California federal court on behalf of U.S. consumers who paid extra for nondairy milk over the last four years, seeking at least $5 million and arguing the surcharge violates the ADA because food allergies can be disabilities. The company moved to dismiss in March 2024, contending the ADA does not require equal pricing for accessible goods and warning of broad consequences; a hearing is scheduled for April 19 in San Francisco. The complaint also asserts that the retail price of the cow’s milks it offers is the same as, or higher than, many non-dairy alternatives, and critics say large chains have the ability to eliminate such surcharges." - Anastasia Sloan

Dunkin’ Expects to Permanently Close 800 Stores in 2020 | Eater

"The company announced plans to close roughly 800 U.S. locations by the end of the year — more than half of those being 450 limited‑menu Speedway outlets that were introduced earlier this year — and to shutter about 350 international sites as well. Executives frame the proposed closures as relatively small in sales impact, representing only about 2% of 2019 revenue. Like many fast‑food chains, it experienced sales declines during the COVID‑19 pandemic but has seen a recent rebound driven in part by drive‑thru business. The consolidation could make grabbing a large iced coffee in cold weather slightly less convenient, a concern playfully noted alongside celebrity customers such as Ben Affleck." - Jaya Saxena

I had a wonderful quick meal! Got a simple Latte with my favorite swirls in it, and I saw I donut that I don’t usually see back home! I was visiting from Pasadena to a random location in San Francisco, and I’m happy that I chose the right one! The donut I saw was called the Chocolate Cream! New favorite donut! The whole team was very nice, welcoming, and friendly! Thank you guys for the welcoming hospitality and service.

Google
Went to pick up my mobile order. The store is clean and the service is fast!! The coffee is more watery though but that’s kinda expected! Nice place overall

Jennifer Puett

Google
Did a mobile order for 3 bagels with cream cheese. Nearly $14 for all three to barely have any cream cheese on them. Absolutely terrible!

Chris D

Google
Burnt croissant and burnt hash-browns! When I tried to submit feedback in the app the form can’t find the store when I put in the zip code or the city.

The staff are great. The place was spotless clean when I got there. Everything was pretty much on the menu and the food was okay. If you need a 24-hour spot, don't hesitate. I never realized they had sandwiches as well as Donuts.

Nick P.

Google
Just an average dunkin experience Okay coffee and donuts

Heather Rose

Google
The doughnuts are always delicious. And this was my first time having the avocado toast. It was delicious! I'll be back just for that! But I gave them three stars because they got the drink orders wrong. And we had to go back in to get them fixed and it took just as long as the first time to get them fixed. So it's like waiting twice for your one order. We ate almost all our food before we had our drinks. (Sorry ate all the doughnuts before we got to the other food and photos!)

Tigran Tsaturyan

Google
Thanks to a great service who packaged on dozen donuts on Sunday 27th so nicely that I was able to take them on the international flight. Continue doing great service.

Yelp
We've just returned from a New England motor coach fall foliage tour. In New England there's a Dunkin everywhere you turn. This is our 3rd Dunkin in the last seven days. It wasn't intentional but we were early to Costco which opened at 9am so to kill time let's go to Dunkin. We parked in the shared parking lot with Togo & Popeye's. As we entered Dunkin there was a large group of women ordering at the counter. We decided to use the self kiosk. We ordered: 1) Boston cream pie donut and 2) double chocolate donut. With two original drip coffees. Paid and entered my name. Within a couple of minutes my name was called with my fulfilled order. Easy peasy. The group of women were still placing their individual orders. Our donuts tasted like the ones we had in New England. The coffee was fine. We were in and out within 15 minutes.

Yelp
Filthy! Usually, this kind of dirty is reserved for those tiny gas station convenience stands that are situated right by the pumps. Or maybe even the lowest scummiest dive bar in the worst part of town. The floors were filthy, tables covered in crumbs, and the flies flew rampant throughout the place. I honestly don't know how they passed their health inspection. I stopped here for a donut and coffee, which I got, but it was probably the look of the place that put me off my appetite. You don't want to buy food from a place like this. The service was fine, the workers all behind the counter were doing their job, and they were busy enough, I just think they need better management and leadership to get this place in order. I will never know if they do get right, though, because I won't be back.

S M.

Yelp
Worst one I've been to. The coffee is watery and they fill half the cup with cream. Tried to order iced from here a bunch of times- always watery and tasteless, they never put enough flavor. Went in amd thought the hot coffee would be better. Still watery, still too much cream.
google avatar

Neen M.

Yelp
They have two kiosks here to order yourself and a line but it gets a little confusing and the line and wait ends up being long. They attend to the line orders first before getting to kiosks so I don't see a benefit to the kiosks at the moment. I got my order after someone who came in via line a lot later than me. I've had lots of dunkin' blueberry donuts but to me the blueberry donuts here tasted a bit different (texture, taste overall)

Yelp
People working here are nice. Cashier in the morning of thanksgiving was so nice to everyone. Bagel was good and coffee was hot.

Ryan F.

Yelp
I told the cashier to give me assorted donuts! you're job is so simple... make it better for your customers!!! This is the 2nd time happened to me with the same server! Ughhh stay out of the register if you dont like your job!!!! And i ordered a LATTE not a matcha latte!!! And Matcha latte is not to be sweeten! Not unless if requested!!! Do ur job well!!!!

Yelp
They never have any toilet paper, or tissue covers for the toilet seat. They never have the donuts I want, they use to have French crullers, but I don't see it anymore, and when you ask the employees info about the menu and donuts, they have no kind of knowledge about it, they just look stupid and clueless!

Karolina K.

Yelp
They always make my coffee watery, I have the most simple drink, and somehow they still make it bad.

Yelp
Pretty clean Dunkin right off the highway near the airport. There's plenty of parking and a bathroom too. The inside is spacious with many tables inside and outdoors. We had no issues at all with our visit, and the staff was efficient with getting our order out (and applying our coupon). The donuts were delicious as always! Download the app for lots of deals!
google avatar

Michael Y.

Yelp
Super friendly staff helped me complete my order without a problem. I appreciate the professionalism even though I had several questions and changes to my order because I was taking advantage of the September deal. The employee also was calm and asked the other person for help when unsure. Then the order was placed and completed quickly - done and perfect. During the process, I felt good about ordering, so why not? I ordered a few donuts. Great for dunkin'! It is one of the few spots open 24 hours! It is spacious with lots of parking. It is conveniently located.

Yelp
When I pulled the cash from my pocket the $20 bill accidentally tore. Peter, the manager refused to accept this $20 bill stating the bank would not accept the partially torn bill. I have never in 52 years had the bank not except cash that had a tear in it.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting a Dunkin so I will review this from entry to exit. First off the layout is aweful, I mean donuts are behind the counter on the wall where they cannot be seen, why they are not in glass cases to see? Second was the service, the ladies behind the counter lacked social skills, the one at the register was in training and English was not in vocabulary as she asked the other girl what I was asking her in Spanish and the other girl then answered. Third was I asked about softdrinks and the cashier smiled and shook her head and told me no, clearly she did not understand my question. Fourth was my order accuracy, I asked for a apple fritter and a glazed lemon filled, what I got was a cinamon roll and powdered sugar lemon filled. Next I will review the donuts. The apple fritter had no apple chunks in it or even taste of apple, there was a lite cinamon flavor, the sugar glaze help the donut together because the cake of the donut was too lite and airy, this was the worse apple fritter I have had. The lemon filled was the messiest donut ever, being powered sugar it was clearly not 100% sugar and was mixed with another powder like flour because the powder had a dry starchy flavor, no sweet sugar flavor, the donut was very lite and airy if you like that kind of thing but I like a more cakey or pastry density, the lemon filling was fine. Overall you were a step above Kruddy Kremes but I would never go back there again. Then the cost kind of shocked me at $2.50 each and their size was tiny. I could have got a bigger and better donut at 7-11 for less.

Yelp
This Dunkin' location is my go to spot to loiter and drink a cup of their famous Joe. Even though I'm at least a good 10 miles from this Dunkin', I'd still recommend this place for its value and convenience. With the app, it's convenient for me to pick my large, strong and flavorful coffee at a mere $3.19. I've been enjoying the app thanks to the incentive points for free coffee. As for the donuts (and pastries), I do not recommend. I'm looking for a donut that's soft and tasteful. Their dough just doesn't cut it. This spot is also a convenient spot to cram and chop it up all night despite its small size. It's peaceful here and I've considered teleworking here on a daily basis.

Yelp
Donut taste like days old, sandwiches also tasteless Never again never mind paying good $ but Expect quality products.

Yelp
I order coffee from this location, almost everyday. The stuff is really amazing and they are so helpful and kind

Yelp
This Dunkin used to be a lot better prior to the pandemic. When I have to pick up people from SFO, I would drop by here to grab some coffee and donuts so that they have breakfast. Today, when I came by to do just that, I got the most water down coffee and pumpkin spice latte. It tasted like it had a bit of whipped cream and a tiny bit of cinnamon. The hashbrowns that I got were completely burnt. The only thing that was okay, was the donuts and croissant sandwich with sausage. I hope they improve the quality of it because it's kind of sad that the only Dunkin around SF is so bad. And give them credit that they didn't mess up the donuts. I know they did a re-branding to focus on other breakfast items besides donuts but the quality of the other stuff just isn't there. They ran out of hand sanitizer at the entrance so I decided to go to the bathroom to wash my hands before eating. You have to ask for a key that they will only give you if you buy something. I had to tell them that I ordered online and showed them my order as proof to get the key. The bathroom was also really gross. There was no toilet paper or paper towels. I ended up waiting until I got home to properly wash my hands. I will not be returning until conditions get better.

Yelp
Despite the bad reviews from many patrons the donuts here are great. The staff have always been friendly and courteous. My only complaint is that their coffee is a little weak for my taste. The only other downside is that due to the location there are often many homeless people acting crazy or bugging you for money but this will not keep me away.
google avatar

Yelp
The donuts tasted like day olds. We had an avocado toast, donuts and some coffee. The avocado toast with bacon and roasted tomatoes was OK. We ordered a half dozen donuts and some donut holes. After eating two donuts, we threw the rest away. They weren't fresh and tasted old. This was at 1pm. The coffee was fine.

Shayne L.

Yelp
Great coffee, donuts aren't bad, definitely smaller and a little drier than your average donut especially for the price, but nobody on the Jobsite will turn down a donut

Janice M.

Yelp
I was there's really early because I wanted to buy something for my coworkers, when I arrived I saw rats running out of the garbage room and I immediately left.

Yelp
This Dunkin is located in a small little strip plaza with Popeye's and Togo's with plenty of parking. This location is also open 24 hours, which is a major score for me and my husband since we came around 10 pm. There was a party of 2 people in front of us but eventually the line behind us started to grow (guess we aren't the only ones who crave something sweet late night). We ended up getting: Bavarian Creme Donut- I don't normally pick cream filled donuts but my husband decided to get this, and I thought it was pretty good. I liked that the cream didn't just pop out of the other side of the donut (which always seemed to happen and become quiet a messy treat). Powdered Sugar Donut- I didn't have any but my husband enjoyed this. 5 piece munchkins, assorted- I am such a fan for donut holes so I always tend to get this when I am at Dunkin. I had asked the girl to give me an assorted mix but to include pumpkin and apple cider. Both seasonal fall flavors were good. I also ended up getting blueberry (which I didn't really like that much), powdered sugar and chocolate. ------------------------------ (Total= $4.77 after tax) After we ordered, the girl got our items and placed it in 2 bags for us. So, wait time for our order was very short. Overall, had an okay experience and probably would come back to this location if I lived near here.

Yelp
Ooh wee! Coconut syrup in iced coffee is bomb! I'm a little adventurous today. Usually get caramel so I decided to add coconut surup. Glad I did! So yummy.

Yelp
Great varied menu! Great location I visit when in town for wrestling events. I was overcharged twice in one visit and although it was fixed; no manager was on site and they didn't believe me until I showed them my online bank account as proof. Check your receipts! They don't seem to be trained on giving refunds.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been frequently going to this location for the past week or so and they have really been doing better about making my drinks correctly !! This one employee in particular always makes my drinks the best however I haven't caught her name unfortunately! They seem to be better staffed and I really feel it's helping the overall quality of the drinks/food. The ONLY thing I absolutely hate is the cups/straws. I understand it isn't the employees fault but oh my goodness it's annoying . The paper cups just don't keep my drink as cold and the paper straws get soggy after 5 minutes in my drink. I've been having to go to the 7-11 to get a plastic cup/straw just so I can enjoy my coffee throughout the morning. They seriously need to get the correct cups . Every other Dunkin has it so I'm unsure why they don't have them. This could be just a personal preference but it really is frustrating having to make two trips for my drink in order to enjoy it. Because it seriously has been way better lately just the cup issue is annoying . Please fix this Dunkin !!!!
google avatar

Jen T.

Yelp
This is the worst location to visit, unless you like to wait and soggy melted donuts and the coffee is in a soda cup. The 2 ladies working has no clue what they are doing. It shouldn't be hard to make to simple coffee and put a couple of donuts in a bag. We went in about 11:30am and I'm still waiting at 12:15pm. Trying to get their attention and they are "too busy" to come back to answer. Training needs to be reevaluated for sure! I've been in the customer service industry for 25years and this is hands down the worst!! Please stay away from this location, even though it's at an airport location is the slowest and challenging location. The owners need better employees here.

Mary A.

Yelp
This is by far the most unorganized, mess of a place. It's so sad this is the only Dunkin close in the Bay Area. I grew up on the east coast and loved Dunkin. This store makes me never want to go back. Do not pre order, they will forget your order. They never get the order right. Always forget the food. You'll wait 45 min whether you pre order or not. I tried one last stop this morning (gave them another chance), pre ordered. They once again forgot my order - after waiting a half hour I heard them calling numbers way after mine. Ended up cancelling and getting a refund (which also took forever) and went to Starbucks. If you want a frustrating morning and to wait 45 min this is your place. Also! Prices are just as expensive as Starbucks anymore! Will not return.
google avatar

Issa A.

Yelp
They need to stop with the fast food soda cups and paper straws. This place went quite downhill after the pandemic, but it's a long time since everything has opened up now and they need to improve. Just poor management now. Their drinks have been horrible the past 3-4 times I've been there and Dunkin is not cheap. Do not ever get the avocado toast it tastes sour and disgusting. Wake up wraps are decent but overpriced and smaller now--just like the rest of their food. The only way I could justify visiting this store is a coupon or discount, but even then it'snot worth it. I'd rather enjoy better coffee at Peet's/Starbucks/a Nespresso. A positive note--the employees have always been really friendly and helpful there. It's the company that needs to improve. Get your sht together Dunkin. And get rid of those crap cups asap!
google avatar

Kyle H.

Yelp
Got two boston kreme donuts, 2 french cullers and 2 apple fritters. Fritters were okay but overpriced; luckily the nice female employee only charged me for 1 @ 2.19! Cullers had great texture, and not too sweet. Boston kreme donuts were of creamy goodness, with chocolate toppings. Make sure to sign up for their dunkin donuts rewards; they have an app too, for 2x points and deals. 200 points gets you a free beverage as well.

Yelp
The food and drinks are amazing. But the reason for only one star is one of the employees. I came in to use the restroom and was told someone might be in there because the key wasn't where it normally is, so I stood there and waited. Another customer also was waiting after me. We waited 10 minutes. The other customer left and i went up to the employee and asked her about the key because after knocking on the door I realized no one was in there and the light wasn't on. I was told that the key must have been left in the bathroom and theres no other way to open the door. So I went next door. I came back a few minutes later to do some work on my laptop and I see her handing the key to other people who come in and need to use it. Bad customer service is the main important thing in any business..... That prejudice and bad service knocks my over all review to 1 star.

Grace P.

Yelp
We picked up a box of donuts (a dozen). When we drove back home and opened the box (5 min drive as we live in Oyster Pt.), there were ants in the box. Ants!!!! We contacted Dunkin Donuts regarding this issue (health and safety issue) and they never replied to us. It is a terrible place. Please avoid. If you must get something from here, inspect before you eat.
google avatar

Polly W.

Yelp
I came here to try their new brown sugar cold brew with cold foam. Let's just say they definitely are not Starbucks and do not specialize in coffee which came in a fast food soda cup. The drink did not taste like brown sugar what so ever and just tasted very off. Ended up throwing most of the drink away. Also got a glazed donut for $1.79 which was very dense and mediocre
google avatar

Bennett W.

Yelp
It is so good to have a Dunkin' Donuts location here in South San Francisco. I don't even need to go down to San Carlos or anywhere in the Bay Area just for donuts and coffee. If you need a cup of coffee and donut / breakfast sandwich, come on in to Dunkin' Donuts. Yes, there are tables and chairs available for those wanting to enjoy their donut and coffee right away. Items from today's purchase: - sugar donuts - medium iced mocha These two items always hit the spot when seeking for that quick eat. Plus: Free WiFi Open 24/7 Parking lot available Minus: Just no drive thru Overall, positive first experience here. Staff members are friendly and service is excellent.
google avatar

Kimberly B.

Yelp
I was staying at a nearby hotel and was waiting for some friends to pick me up...it was an absolute hot mess in there. There was trash everywhere and I literally had to wipe a corner of the table down so I had someplace to eat. Honestly super disappointed

Bubba L.

Yelp
Bathroom is. full of poop and they let homeless people go in so they really don't care about customer. They also need to smile and be friendly. They are beautiful young girl. It's a job. Just because you smiled it doesn't mean people should take that as love at first site or any billishit like that. It's only out of respect for customers. I blame both management and workers.
google avatar

Ghe G.

Yelp
I placed my order at 10:52 am and didn't pick it up until 11:26. The 3 young women behind the counter tried to be calm but they appeared to be completely overwhelmed and wouldn't make eye contact and had these little nervous smiles as though they expected to be yelled at at any time. Seeing their actions tempered my anger, but my family had a plane to catch. The kiosk was surprisingly easy to use, but it didn't indicate if the store was out of certain items, so during my long wait I heard at least two people being told that the oat milk they wanted was not available. So after 20-15 minutes of waiting they had to make a substitution. My daughter went to the ladies room and came out to report that there was no toilet paper dispenser, just napkins placed on top of the toilet. When I checked my order I found an extra sandwich in the bag which would have alleviated my ruffled feathers a great deal except that there was a long black hair in it. And my bacon snack were practically raw. I don't live close to a Dunkins anymore and I was looking forward to making this visit, but I think that from now on I'll wait until I go back to visit in Florida.

Yelp
We were headed up to an afternoon wedding from the S. Bay on an empty stomach and I remembered that this location was right off the freeway with easy access off and back on to 101 NB. I'm so happy that Dunkin' who is predominantly on the East coast has locations in the bay now. This is a good spot if you are craving donuts and coffee (sweet with cream and sugar or a good cup of freshly made coffe). Their donuts are fresh and they have all the varieties you would expect made fresh throughout the day. On days, we prefer something more substantial, we order the croissant sandwiches with bacon and egg, which are made fresh when you order. This is a good stop when you're also on a road trip and need a pick me up and a clean place with nice bathrooms!

Alfred K.

Yelp
Order a dozen donut, and can't get it right. Ordered Vanilla crème and gave me chocolate. Can't even pick order correctly.
google avatar

Daphnye R.

Yelp
Here's nothing impressive about acting like you just work here. As a GrubHub driver I work for their customers. They always press the "order is ready" and then proceed with the drive thru as first priority. When they do get the order finished it's 90% of the time late, and wrong. If they are missing an item they don't tend to say anything and half of the time they might offer a sub. The not saying anything is horrible when you staple or glue shut the bag the customer will receive. I think if they put more pride in their brand they'd shine in so many ways.
google avatar

Tram N.

Yelp
My only gripe: the display case is behind the counter. I couldn't see everything they have. When I was next in line I ordered fairly quickly because I didn't want to be the annoying folks that took forever that were in front of us. Took my sister and Gavin here this past Sunday. It brought me back to my trip to New York more than 6 years ago. All happy memories. I haven't had a donut in so long- glad I decided to splurge a bit. The Oreo-seasonal donut is a must for Oreo lovers. There is creme filling in the middle. My sister enjoyed her old fashioned chocolate, Gavin enjoyed his donut holes, and a total of 2.5 of the seasonal-Oreo donuts. He ate 30% of mine and I bought him 2 more for the next 2 mornings. I'm definitely a fan.

Elle H.

Yelp
Should be a 0 stars review. Went there on National Donut Day this year on June 7th because I couldn't remember the last time I'd had a donut and had never been to a Dunkin' Donuts before. BAD DECISION - LIKE REALLY, REALLY BAD DECISION!!! Even though it was only early afternoon, the 2 different donuts I purchased were TOTALLY STALE!! One was a French Cruller which I spat out immediately it was so foul. The other was what THAT Dunkin' location calls an Old Fashioned, but it is actually a CAKE and neither of the 2 counter employees knew the difference. IT'S ON THE DUNKIN' WEBSITE! DUH! I was disgusted and heart-broken at the same time since I was really looking forward to a GOOD donut. On my way home, found ROYAL DONUT in Skyline Plaza in Daly City and got there just before it closed and purchased the last 2 plain Old Fashioned they had (and these were the actual Old Fashioned style donuts, not cake donuts). THEY WERE AMAZING!!! And, FRESH even at 5pm. DITCH DUNKIN' unless you crave stale, dry, disgusting donuts.
google avatar

Shrader F.

Yelp
I really like Dunkin' cold drinks. Love their cakes too. They have very good service and always have friendly people. thanks!
google avatar

Milan F.

Yelp
Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Over priced, over hyped, overcooked pastries. No thank you! Stick with our local Mom & Pop doughnut shops that do it amazing and fresh daily WITH KINDNESS AND A SMILE! We don't do that type of foolishness here on the West Coast Dunkin! Yuck!

Biff B.

Yelp
Switching to massive iPads and no human contact for ordering isn't a good look. I was coming to this location often but I won't come back. Making ordering more difficult and having to answer multiple prompts on a screen sucks. Not to mention getting my order took longer then before. Good job.
google avatar

Boxter T.

Yelp
I loved this place, shake of banana was delicous. I can not believe that something like that even exist
google avatar

U L.

Yelp
Gave this place another shot since my credit card offered 15% off. Even with that, it's Still not worth going here. A large coffee cost more than Starbucks and it taste like brown sugar water. Donuts are over priced as well. Workers looks like they're miserable. Sad.

D S.

Yelp
See picture . Management has no solution on the securing the cup from not spilling over in your car . It's time for a change management. Putting stickers on the lid is not a solution . Call your HQ in Mass and make it happen. Adapt.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here and must say store was filthy, staff was not friendly, very unwelcoming, ordered an iced matcha latte and honestly it was all milk no matcha taste, ordered an iced peppermint mocha and no peppermint flavor... so disappointed.. not sure about the hype of this place...

Yelp
I love Dunkin' on the East Coast. I don't love Dunkin' on the West Coast. Rather, it's a heavy like, nearly lust. Why? The coffee just isn't the same, a totally different formula. It's bomb, and an East Coast staple. Dunkin' is donuts, mainly, but also coffee and coffee drinks, bagels, sandwiches. Now, they even feature plant-based meats: breakfast sausage and patties. Something for everyone, and something for all times of day. This location is fairly new, a tiny strip/mini-mall along with a Togo's and Popeye's -- yes, all food shops! Yes! The parking is a L-shaped lot, and can be challenging at lunchtime.
