I tried three different pastries from Duo Pâtisserie and loved all of them. The outer pastry layers were incredibly light, crisp, and fragrant without being greasy. The mango cream puff is my absolute favourite so far —the cream is smooth, and the choux has the perfect crunch. I’ll definitely be back to try more!

I tried this café for the first time and had their iced hazelnut latte, honey oat latte, and turkey béchamel croissant. Both coffees were very good, and the iced hazelnut latte had a pleasant, natural hazelnut flavor that wasn’t artificial. The croissant was the highlight. It was light, flaky, and perfectly filled. All of the desserts looked beautiful, almost like artwork. The only downside is that the coffees come in just one size, which feels a bit small for the price.Overall, it was a lovely first visit, and I would happily come back again.

Dropped by Duo Patisserie & Café for an afternoon treat and went for the Mochi Honey Toast. The outside was nicely crisp and golden, and the center had a stretchy mochi bite that made it really fun to eat. You can taste the honey in the toast too — sweet in a gentle way, and I actually really loved it. The café feels calm and bright, perfect for a quick break. The staff was polite. If you enjoy desserts with a mix of crunch, chew, and a light honey touch, this one’s a good pick.

I tried the mango cake and a box of chocolates here and both were really good. The mango cake was definitely my favorite as the fruit tasted super fresh, the cream was light and smooth, and it was not overly sweet. You can tell they use good ingredients. The chocolates were also excellent with a nice variety of flavors and a rich clean finish. The café itself has a really cozy and relaxing vibe. It is the kind of place you can easily spend an afternoon chatting with friends or just enjoying a quiet coffee break. Everything is nicely presented and the staff are friendly too. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the portion sizes but the quality makes up for it. Overall a great spot for dessert and coffee if you want to treat yourself or catch up with friends in a chill atmosphere.

Its reputation is as good as you've heard. Tried the Fei and the Pineapple Coconut pastry. The real fruit really lends strong flavour and I loved both pastries. The textures and flavours are fantastic and it is not too sweet. Highly recommend.

Duo has to be my favourite Pâtisserie. They always have a great selection savoury and sweet. Must try has to be the 8 pastry is has delicious custard. Their items are always fresh. If you buy 6 items it will be tax free. 😊

Top ingredients, top taste, although a little pricey. Duo has remained as my favourite cake and croissant place to go to since they opened a few years ago.

One of the best patisseries in North Toronto! So many people go to Duo Cafe, which is their 2nd location that offers more of a sit-down cafe space but can be quite crowded. If you're just looking to pick up some pastries, cakes, or packaged cookies, or a quick place to sit down and enjoy your fresh croissant, this original Duo location is fantastic! I can never resist all the beautiful pastries in the display case, and I don't have to because when you purchase 6, it's tax free :) Whether you're more of a sweet or savoury pastry fan, all of their pastries use the flakiest, butteriest dough that even when you reheat them in the oven the next day, they still taste incredible.

This is one of my favourite bakeries in Toronto. They have a number of different baked goods with Japanese influence. The croissants are executed incredibly, and there's creativity in all of the various pastries. You're able to really taste the flavours that the chef goes for. I haven't tried any of the cakes, but they also look stunning. This is always a must visit for me when I'm in the area. There may be a line, but the service is friendly and the interior is simple but beautiful.

Located in the food plaza off Commerce Valley and Hwy 7. There is plenty of parking out front with sufficient accessibility spots to be had. The store is spacious to showcase their goods and a small seating area to enjoy the pastries with beverage of choice. The staff is very friendly and informative. Their craftsmanship is top notch and definitely coming back for more treats

My friend ordered Soleil for our friend's birthday celebration. This cake was perfect to wrap up a birthday party! I love the mango grapefruit compote, the sweet and a little bit sour taste from grapefruit make a great balance of taste. Love the mango mousse as one of the layer, so smooth and yum! Would definitely recommend Duo for any celebration

Excellent cake and pastries but one word. EXPENSIVE. I think this is what Duo's been known as from when they opened until present. The pastries are exquisite. I've ordered full size cakes and also small pastries from this place and it's always good. Recently, my brother had his 1 yr anniversary with his wife so we bought a soleil cake to celebrate the occasion. The sponge was fluffy yet moist and the mango cream was smooth as hell but one thing I didn't think worked well with the cake was the grapefruit. I know it was probably added to cut back on the sweetness of the mango but I just thought it was way too bitter and didn't actually work well at all with the rest of the cake. I'm not a master baker by any means but I think passionfruit would've been a much better complement to the cake than the grapefruit. I especially love the tart shells and lemon meringue at this place!

Duo is an amazing Japanese/french inspired patisserie, cafe & chocolatier, delicious espresso, scrumptious cakes, flaky pastries, fine chocolate truffles and more. Due to time constraints, I arrived to the store late Sunday afternoon, they were out of their most popular items, including the Mont Blanc, and canelé though their selection was limited, I was able to get my hands on Almond Croissant, Polonais Croissant (double baked croissant with hazelnuts & rum), and Banane (banana compote puff pastry), I also got a pair of single serve cakes, the Claire (yuzu cremeux, honey crisp apple, yuzu ganache cubes, yuzu montée cream, almond shortbread crust), and a Rockée (milk chocolate cream, chocolate caramel mousse, caramelized pecans, hazelnut coconut dacquoise, almond sablé, milk chocolate disk), and a box of (12) chocolate truffles, I could not leave before trying their coffee, pleased to say their espresso was as good as their pastries. Store is located in Markham, ON, right off highway 7, and 404 Freeway, though space is small, typical of most bakeries, it feels airy and very pleasant. Their customer service is excellent, the store is very busy, with long lines, but everyone was welcoming, they looked happy to be there, you can feel they love what they do.

Now this is what you call a luxury pastry store. As soon as I stepped inside, I was amazed by all of the pastries on display - absolutely beautiful. The price point is definitely up there, but you can see the craftsmanship that goes into each pastry, so I'm okay with paying the hefty price tag once in a while. I grabbed a plain croissant ($4.50), a Mont Blanc ($10.50), Pistachio Financier, and Pecan Breton. Plain croissant: nice layers and super buttery on the inside 8/10 Mont Blanc: absolutely beautiful and delicious! Something I would get again for sure 10/10 Pistachio Financier: comes with 6 in a pack, and since each one is so small, it leaves a bit more to be desired 6/10 Pecan Breton: If you are a fan of buttery pastries, then this is for you. Perfect portions 9/10 Overall, such a great place for French pastries. I'll be back next time I feel like treating myself to some fancy desserts.

Expensive but delicious patisserie shop. Super cute. Pastries very well stocked even till noon on a Saturday. Within walking distance of our hotel but not much seating for a busy afternoon. They also have coffee which we didn't try.

Picture-perfect pastries at a pretty price Food: We tried the Garden Cake (small) as well as several pastries/individual cakes. All the pastries were beautifully presented, although the prices were quite high to reflect this as well. The cake was not sweet at all, which we preferred, but it was very small for the price paid. The individual cakes and pastries were definitely the highlight, especially the mont blanc which tasted velvety and creamy with the chestnut puree and the whipped cream within. The lemon tart was nice and light, with the lemon cream being slightly tart and the shortbread shell being crumbly. The matcha book and fig tart were also very well made, with the nice flaky crust for both when reheated at the recommended 350 temperature setting in an airfryer. All in all, I would definitely revisit for pastries and individual cakes on a special occasion. Service: There were quite a few servers behind the counter working through the line-up in order. Everyone was friendly, and they helped remake the cake greeting message as they spelled the name wrong for my cake. Atmosphere: There was a long before the store opened on a Sunday morning, and for a good reason. There were a few small tables one one side of the store, but almost everyone bought their pastries and cakes to go. Everything was baked fresh, the servers were busy yet efficient in handling the line, picking out everyone's orders, packing them, and checking them out.

My first time to dine in for the decent cakes this time we tried for the chocolate one and the yuzu one. OMG!!!! Both of them are so good! Yuzu one with cheese, the taste is so fresh and filled! The service is good as well! Staffs are nice and helpful. The area for dine in is clean and there is a takeaway bar. Full of biscuits or fruits jam for you to choose from!!

I love this bakery for their pastries however their drinks are average at best. I have tried their matcha latte and believe I could make it at home better using instant powder. Love their cakes though! And I hope they offer ice cream one day!

Best Bakery and cafe shop around in Markham! Crossiants are made fresh in their shop and their cakes are soooo delicious!! Their Cafe location on 16th have good seating and service is always super friendly. Good local go to spot for yummy pastries!

This tiny cafe is super adorable! The space inside is very small, prob had like 6/7 tables only . I stopped by around 4:40pm, it was supposed to close 6pm and they were already running out of selections. Ended up picking the yuzu cheesecake dome. Price was just over $10 including tax. Taste wise it was unique and not like anything I tried. I can't say I loved it but definitely peaked my interest. It was also on the sour side if you eat the different parts solo , but if you took a little bite of the cheesecake /yuzo and cookie crumble , the combination of the three was pretty good. I'll definitely come back next time to try other flavours :) One thing to note is try to take the cake straight home to eat . We stopped for dinner before going home and the cake shifted a bit :( even though the bottom was taped down . Prob was due to texture not holding together .

Always my go to place for pastries. But noticed they have recently increased the pricing. Would still visit but may not be as often because it's getting expensive

Today's newly tried items (4): - Banane (Pastry with banana compote): tasty. But wanted more buttery flavor to the pastry itself. - Baba (with Pineapple): tasty, well-balanced flavor & texture. But I expected more liquor punch. The rest of the items, # Pearl (cream puff with mango) # Yuco (Yuzu and coconut, new!) # Rockée(caramel & nuts, new!) # Virgo (Espresso) # Mont Blanc Were excellent as usual. (all 5 stars) :)

Duo patisserie have the best cake and dessert choice for an afternoon tea on weekends Haven't visited this location for quite some time, now they have tables for seat in lots of variety of choices, good service and clean

Walking into the store and opening the front door, you sre welcome with the fresh smell of croissants, butter and bread freshly baked, is totally irresistible. I had to buy something, let alone the favt that there is a beautiful display of pastries, cakes and baked goods for you to peruse. We bought a apple pastry with almond spread on a pastry-croissant, it was totally delicious. My daughter had a raspberry rose, it was similar to a danish with almond paste and fresh fruits on top, beautiful presentation. Limited seating at the time we went in, so we dis not stay, instead we took it to go. I did end up getting a cup of coffee somewhere else to have my apple pastry. Pastries are on the pricier side but i would come back again!

It is traditional for Duo Pâtisserie & Café at 230 Commerce Valley Dr E #4, Thornhill, ON L3T 7Y3 lacation to charge more money from customers. It happened to me few times. If the service can be given 0 star, I will give zero. This is third time they charge more money by their mistake, 4 cakes charge 6's price. Last time they charged bigger size cake price. They didn't admit their cashier made mistake and said that the screen in front of the cashier was for you to look. They changed wrong or extra because customer don't look at the screen in front of cashier and that screen is Not functioning. I have to drive 40-50 minutes to get back the fee that shouldn't have been charged. They classify the mistake of charging extra money as the customer does not check it themselves. The screen that has not been working and shows "loading" is the reason why they charge you more. Their attitude is the worst I have ever seen.

WOW! Love the ambience, the pastries, their cakes and drinks. We were in town a a little bit and came here every morning for pastries & coffee. Even they were busy, the service was good & fast! Wish we had this in the states.

Finesse & artsy pastries + cakes! Visited Duo after my baker friend recommended me this place & I've been hooked ever since! Duo is definitely a popular spot uptown Markham/Thornhill area and I personally frequent this place because it's close to home and I don't have to encounter the dreadful traffic downtown to get my hands on some good pastries and cakes They have quite an extensive selection when they are stocked. So go early- the earlier the better since getting there before they close will probably leave you disappointed the items you've been eyeing have already sold out. I've ordered something new every single time I've visited & yet there's still so many more items I have to try! So far some notable items I would order again would be their mont blanc (a chestnut flavoured Christmas tree shape cone lol), virgo cake (for all the espresso mousse lovers out there) & their plain croissant! Honestly nothing I've ordered so far has been bad and I'm confident with their selection, everyone can find something they'll like This location is more catered towards a bakery pick up and go style with almost 70% of the space inside used as a retail area/bakery. However there are some tables lined on the side for dining in (very few like 4 or so tables). From all the times I've visited the tables have been full because it seems people love just chatting there so just keep that in mind if you want to stay. Overall I can really taste and see the finesse in the pastries and cakes made here. Def a spot that won't disappoint!

We visited Duo Cafe for the first time to try their cakes and sampled the C4 and Hazel single cakes. Both were delicious. Service was fast and efficient, and we appreciated that the servers wore masks, which is important when handling food. The place was neat and bustling. We'll definitely be back for more.

Beautifully made delicious pastries and cakes. A bit on the expensive side but worth it.

It's always a pleasure to visit Duo. I've tried most of their pastries and haven't been disappointed by any. My favourites are the citrus brioche, roast beef croissant and chestnut tart. Their desserts are also great. Everything has the balanced sweetness that East Asian palates typically appreciate. The staff are friendly and the place is clean. You order first and if dining in, find yourself a table, and throw away your plates and cups when done. there are 5-6 tables.

3.5 stars Every pastry and dessert displayed in the shop looked so good! It was really hard to just pick two items but my friend and I went with the C4 and pistache. The C4 consists of chocolate nougatine, chocolate mousse, chocolate flourless biscuit, Nama chocolate, pecan praline and chocolate sable. I liked that it wasn't overly sweet but it was still on the sweet side for me. The various textures (smooth mousse, crunch from the biscuit and pecan praline) worked well together. The pistache is fresh raspberries, raspberry jam, pistachio cream and raspberry jelly on an almond shortbread crust. Out of the two desserts that we got this was the clear winner. The pistache was just the right level of sweetness and the various textures (fresh raspberries, smooth jam and cream and crunchy almond shortbread crust) were so skillfully combined. Overall, desserts are pricey (almost $20 for two items) and on the sweet side.

Each dessert is beautifully constructed and light in sugar. The cheesecake had a floral scent and taste and the chestnut dessert was crafted on a delicious cookie-like pastry. I'd love to try more next time, but feel a bit conflicted by the price (rightfully priced based on how exquisite their desserts are). We also got the hazelnut and honey oat latte. I thought the hazelnut latte was delicious and didn't taste artificial, unlike the usual ones I get from McDonald's, Tim Hortons, and Starbucks.

Omg this place is always so busy and I can totally understand why! Their pastries are amazing, colorful, gorgeous and absolutely delicious. I love their raspberry pistachio tart, honestly one of the best tart bases (crust) I've ever had. Not too sweet, the raspberry pistachio tart is a must try if you love pistachios, have a preference for tarty, light and not so sweet fillings. It's super refreshing and light! All their pastries, cakes are definitely a must try as well, I love their tiramisu as well, comes in a pretty glass jar to keep. Layer of coffee, cookie crumble like topping, creme filling in between layers great to enjoy with a cup of coffee. Must go early if you want more options as they tend to sell out quickly!

I love this place but I took 1 star away because unless you go in the morning, they run out! They make amazing croissants and one of our favourites is the honey twists. On this visit I also got the custard croissant & ham and cheese. Since it was first thing 10am, it was still warm! $4.50 worth it. The custard was also very good and I plan to buy more next time.

This is for the location in Thornhill at Commerce Valley Dr East. I ordered the Garden Cake (4 servings). It contains red berries, vanilla cream, strawberry bavarian cream, white sponge perfurmed in raspberry and strawberry. The cake was delicious and definitely one of the best I've had!!! The store was busy with patrons and seems like they have lots of orders for pick-up. Make sure to call ahead to put in your order and expect to wait about 5-10 minutes if there is a line once you arrive. Total for the cake was $41.70 after tax. There is a surcharge for a message on the cake.

I always love coming to Duo Patisserie. The atmosphere is so aesthetic, and the desserts are always yummy. Beware that they share the plaza parking with other restaurants, so I recommend coming here not during peak hours to help yourself with parking. Sharing the plaza parking with restaurants like Congee Queen and Kiku Sushi can be pretty tight. I've ordered cakes from Duo a number of times and I have never been disappointed. I've also gotten some of their baked goods - all which have been good too! I even really liked their raspberry lychee jam. The jars are so cute. The staff are also always super friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend their drinks in addition to their cakes!!

We arrived pretty late so most of the pastries were sold out, but we got to try the Pearl. It was so good that we wanted another one, but they sold the last one right before us. Please read the description of the dessert and coffee we got. - Pearl [GET]: This item was so delicious, literally a heavenly flavor explosion in our mouths as soon as we took the first bite. The mango was the freshest we ever had, and it paired wonderfully with the mango and mint cream. The cream was light and airy, and not too sweet. The only thing if I had to pick on it, was that the pate a choux or cream puff was a tiny bit on the stale side, maybe because it was late in the day. If it was crunchier than it would have been perfect. Everything else was beautifully executed. - Americano [GET]: Coffee cures everything, and the Americano here is great. The coffee was strong and good quality, definitely can taste the coffee bean aroma of nutty and floral flavors. It didn't taste too burnt or dark, it was great for Winter Wonderland. Ambiance: 4.25/5 - The place is clean, neat, and organized with the limited space they got here. They have a display counter in the middle of the store, where you can pick the small and cute treats or gifts they make for sale. The only bad thing is the dining space is small, and we had to wait for a bit before we secured a spot, because it was packed with customers even around 4PM. It is not too loud and great for a date spot. Price: 4.25/5 - I got a hot americano for $3.50 and a Pearl cake for $8.75 before tax. The total came out to be around $13 after everything. I think the prices here are not cheap, but pretty reasonable for the high quality of desserts they make. It is definitely a worth it purchase. Service: 4/5 - The staffs here are welcoming and friendly. They were nice and able to answer my questions about the pastries and provided me with recommendations. The ordering process is pretty fast and easy. We literally tell them what we wanted as soon as we walked in, and it is ready when we were paying at the register. BLUF: Duo is a hidden gem for high quality and delicious desserts! Their pastries and savory items are mostly French but still incorporated some Asian flavors to it. I love it, and I want to come again to try their croissants and other cakes, so make sure to come early! They are better than Daan Go, so highly recommend that you come out to try and visit. You will not regret it.

Disappointed in the roast beef pastry, there was barely any filling inside. Halfway through I didn't get a single bite of roast beef so I decided to check inside and take a pic. It tasted good for supermarket roast beef cold cuts, but come on lol not worth the money.

Their pastries always impress because the sweetness and flavour is just right, ontop of the beautiful presentation of their pastries. They also open really early in the morning. The croissants are super flakey and buttery. I'd stock up on these! For the single-cakes, the Mont Blanc is their best seller and for good reason! The chestnut cream on the exterior is so amazing, and the inside has almond cream too! The lemon tart is also really great! I love how tart it tastes and the biscuit is nice and dense I love the mixed berries tart because of how fresh all the fruits taste One of my favourites is the YUCO, because of the coconut and yuzu flavours. The texture of the cake is creamy and the coconut shavings on the exterior add a nice light touch of flavour. Black Forest is perfect for dark chocolate lovers! It's definitely not a black forest cake you have at a typical bakery Wish I lived closer to here because I'd pick up breakfast here all the time if I could!

If cooking is an art, than baking and confectionary are a science. If you want that perfect croissant, there are no margins. The timing, the proportions and the techniques must be exact. I don't know what the kitchen at Duo Patisserie looks like, but I am imagine that it resembles a science lab. They have achieved perfection and deliver it with ridiculous consistency. Duo Patisserie was first recommended as serving the best croissants north of the 401. Having tried it half a dozen times, I don't disagree. They have a large selection of baked goods. Their viennoiseries seem to be the biggest draw and take up about half of the display case. There is some variety here ranging from the traditional to the unique. The plain croissant with its rich buttery flavour and flaky dough is by far my favorite. If you want something a little more unique, try a matcha book, which is square pastry filled with matcha cream. Duo Patisserie also sells single-serving and full-size cakes. Their Yuco is to die for (a delicious light Yuco cheesecake with mango and coconut). I have also tried their crème caramel which is good. The bakery is small and clean. The process is simple. There are 3-4 staff members behind the small counter. You place your order and walk over to the cashier to pay. The service is expeditious and courteous. They maintain social distancing fairly well, which results in a lineup outside the bakery. Keep in mind that if you wish to order in advance, they need a full business day. You can't, for example, call them 30 minutes ahead and ask to hold an item. Also, they tend to sell out on most days. If you want something specific, come early or be disappointed.

I love duo's little pastries. I always like to get a small assortment so I can try them all! I also ended up getting my moms birthday cake from here and it was delicious! I thought it was reasonably priced too, considering how nice it looked. It was decorated with macarons and strawberries! Yum.

I was made aware of Duo Patisserie years ago from following all of the amazing photos on Yelp. In recent years, I received gifts of pastries from Duo. Last week, I finally made a trip to the bakery. There was a line-up out the door as the bakery is following COVID protocol and only allowing a few customers in at a time. There were so many amazing pastries to choose from. I really like their croissants. The croissants are soft, buttery, and airy on the inside but crunchy on the outside. The almond croissants have almond paste on the inside and shaved almonds on the outside. I really like their ham and cheese croissant. So savory and flavorful! Pre-pandemic, I used to come to this area often. Now that I know where it's located, I'll definitely be back.

I recently ordered the Yuzu cake for a birthday. The small size cake is enough to serve 4-6 people for approx. $35, as it is quite thick and creamy. The chocolate sign also costs extra. The cake looked really pretty and had quite a strong, lemon taste! I personally liked their black sesame lattes and matcha croissant better as they are very unique and cooked to perfection! Nice treat once in awhile!

Duo seems to be the new popular Asian bakery choices in uptown. I saw many good reviews, also heard friend's recommendations to this place. Tried it twice separately for two birthday events and tried a bunch of chocolates too. The chocolate cake called "MONA" and their chocolates were both on the sweeter side compared to other Asian bakeries. The fig "cake" was also not well-received by the audience. I could hardly call it a cream cake because the shell of it was very too hard to be cut into pieces. It was more like a very hard piece of cookie. Very weird and disappointing experience with this place, especially given the products are pricy.

Just love, love, love this place and everything they carry! Their cakes are really out of this world, my two personal favorites are the black forest cake, and "The Pearl"- the latter is made with fresh mango and cream in the most heavenly choux pastry. Another consistent product I have been getting over the years is there a Montblanc. Give them a try if you're in the area!!

A sleek and sophisticated cafe in the Markham area! This little morsel of heaven was absolutely delightful to eat. I don't remember ever being so happy to eat a dessert that is complex and light all in once. I absolutely love this cafe. But be warned, they run out of desserts by the afternoon, so be sure to stop by earlier in the day!

This bistro has one of the best French croissants in Toronto, flaky and buttery. It rivals many of Paris' croissants. The pastries are also exceptional. I'm there very often enjoying a bit of France. Also the lattes are awesome, smooth to the pallet and at the perfect temperature. Not the over heated kind that breaks down the milk, whole milk is best.

One of the best local pastry shops around! While everything we ordered was good, the roast beef croissant was definitely an unexpected, but really pleasant surprise. All of the croissants were very crisp with soooooooo many layers (yes the extra o are warranted). The almond croissant was really really nice but second to the roast beef, I really enjoyed the "8" with custard. The small pastries themselves weren't only a feast for the eyes (&the gram), but also a feast for the pallet. I loved how each of the pastries we had (mont blanc, the rose cheesecake, and pearl creme puff) all had extreme balanced textures in regards to crispiness versus velvety cream. I went in fully expecting mont blanc as the favorite, but once I dug into the many layers of the rose/raspberry cheesecake hmmm hard decision. Guess i have to go back.....for a fair test....

Craving their Mont Blanc so I drove to Duo. My go to dessert place in Markham. Knowing their desserts are always sold out after 4, I was a little surprised it was still full stock when I arrived on this Sunday afternoon around 2:30. Mont Blanc and Pistache are always top notch. No complaint. Claire (Yuzu tart) was a new try for me, is it a seasonal thing? I didn't see it on their main website. It's a very refreshing tart with light yuzu cream and fresh crispy fruits inside. I liked it a lot, but it's not the best choice for people who don't like sour food.

You need to come here early to get a good selection as they sell out fast! You need to buy 6 or more pastries to get a box or else you need to buy a box for a dollar. All of the pastries were delicious and not super sweet.

The almond croissant never disappoints here. I usually get the plain, but since we are doing a YELP review I wanted to get fancy. Nothing more to add - it's just a croissant. It's a little pricey, but it's delicious. Service is always so friendly! :) 4/5

Searching for a nice cake for a special birthday. I needed the looks and the taste! Ive heard so many thing about Duo so i looked up their website. It wasnt too user friendly or i was just too dumb to understand how it works, so i called to ask what kind of cake they have. After they explained their list of fancy named cake, there was a few i wanted to try. But consider it wasnt my birthday, i ordered according to the birthday girl's taste. Made my order through the phone and left the birthday message i wanted on the cake, which cost extra. On the day of pick up, i got there, they got the cake and the name was a different name, i even remember spelling it out for them, or if u werent sure, ASK! Wrong name on a birthday cake is a big no no. So they offered to fix it right away, but then the font was completely different And it was rushed and ugly af. For something that costs extra, i expected better.... (minus one star) Still managed to get four stars cuz the cake itself tasted great! Light cheesecake with a hint of yuzu. Very light and refreshing. Everyone loved it and complimented on my choice. Will still come back to try their other cakes. Hopefully they wont get the name wrong next time.

Duo Patisserie is my go-to patisserie for single serving cakes and whole cakes. All of their cakes are expertly designed to make each cake unique and a multidimensional experience. They are made with love and the utmost care which you can taste in each bite. Soleil ($53.70) Mint Cream Fresh Mango and Grapefruit Compote Mango Cream White Sponge perfumed in Mango and Passionfruit Mango Cremeux The perfumed sponge cake flavor is enhanced with the sweetness of the mango components. It is then complimented by refreshing mint cream and mint leaves while being perfectly countered with the tartness of the candied orange peel and segmented grapefruit. The Mango macaroon tops and bottoms also adds great crunch and depth. Garden ($53.70) Red Berries Vanilla Cream Strawberry Bavarian Cream White Sponge perfumed in Raspberry and Strawberry The garden is all about the refreshing mint and berries. The already sweet and tart berries are magnified with the light and airy cream. It is then topped with strawberry macaroons and meringue to add more taste and texture. Mona ($53.70) Dark Chocolate mousse 66% Orange Yuzu Marmalade Mandarin Yuzu Cremeux Praline Crispy Almond Sponge The sweetness and bitterness of the dark chocolate mixed with the citrus components with the crisp from the praline and nuttiness of the almond sponge is a match made in heaven. Staff is very caring and thorough. They take extra steps to make sure your order is correct and ready for when you need it. I also made multiple pick up time changes and they kindly changed it with no problems at all. Overall, all the cakes are expertly crafted to satisfy your dessert and celebration needs. The combination of tastes and textures are absolutely extraordinary! Will be coming here often for celebrations and dessert cravings.

Surprised I haven't reviewed Duo yet especially since I've been going for years. Favourites are the Pearl (choux pastry with mangoes and cream) and ham & cheese croissant. Those have been my go to for years. If you're planning to get either, I would suggest going in the mornings on the weekends as it sells out by mid-day, or maybe I'm just really unlucky. Honey twist, raspberry rose danish, Pistache (pistachio and raspberry tart), pistachio and raspberry travel cake (which I hadn't tried until recently), maybe just anything pistachio and raspberry are all honorable mentions. Frangipane (tart looking thing made with almond cream, cassis and apple) is also really good but a little heavy which is the only reason why it ranks a tiny bit lower. Book (chocolate filled pastry) is great but a tad too sweet. Splitting the last two might be ideal. I've tried all their single cakes by now and though I like some much more than others, they have so many different ones, I'm sure everyone can find one they enjoy. Mont Blanc seems to be popular but I thought that was just okay. When I got Avery (rose and raspberry), I only did so because it was one I hadn't tried yet and I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would. Yuco is great for coconut lovers but not so good for those looking for yuzu. Hazel (hazelnut and dark chocolate) isn't as sweet as the others and has a nice crunchy part. For their full sized cake, I've only gotten Garden (berries, cream, sponge cake) and Mona (dark chocolate, citrus, sponge cake) and honestly, I was disappointed. Garden is very pretty but I thought it was mediocre, maybe even a little bland. Mona was a little better but nothing to write home about. Definitely doesn't compare to the single cakes that I like. Turned me off from getting another full sized cake again but they offer some of the full sized cakes in single cake form so I don't feel like I'm missing out on much.

Love their pastries Staff were friendly and quick service. Great place to chitchat and enjoy your food and drink.

This is in a shopping center next to the Hilton Garden Inn Markham. It's surrounded by restaurants. Cute shop with some delish pastries and drinks. My friend had visited on her previous trip to Toronto, so it was a must for this trip. We shared the croissant and a tart along with a London Fog and Black Sesame latte. The croissant was buttery and flaky. The tart was creamy and not overly sweet. Our drinks were well balanced. Wish their hours were a little bit longer though. They don't open early enough for that first of the morning coffee drink, and they don't stay open late for dessert. This is definitely a must again on my next visit to Toronto.
