My mom practically dragged me over to Duran Bakehouse today and I have to say, while the interior and decor are beautiful, we were both disappointed for a number of reasons.
For 1, we arrived 20 minutes before closing(not intentionally as we didn't know they closed at 3) and were informed by the young girl working the front that the coffee machine had already been cleaned and this she could not sell us any coffee. This completely deflated me and turned me off. I was loving the vibe and interior but now I was pricked because as a mom of a toddler, I really needed that coffee!
2, the prices. Ouch. Almost $7 for the cheese and artichoke danish, and almost $9 for the strawberry tart. Both were tasty but we both couldn't help but quip, "would be better with coffee!"
The service, as already implied, was not great. On top of telling us she had already cleaned the coffee machine and couldn't make us coffee, she then asked us if we wanted our pricey pastries to go. Um, girl no! My mom had to ask that her savory pastry be heated up and then she did not heat it for long enough so it was still cold in the middle.
For my mamas, no high chairs in sight. Bring your travel stroller and you might be lucky to snag the window table where you have enough room to squeeze it in. Otherwise, your tot will be on your lap like mine was.
No restroom on premises. Parking is street parking and scant.
