I'll be honest--this one caught me a little off guard at first and kept me guessing . When I arrived, I was in the mood for something classic like chips and salsa, and was politely informed that they don't serve salsa here. That definitely surprised me, but I appreciated the staff's friendly approach in explaining the concept. I just really wanted that for sure.
I decided to go with the "chips" mineral and guacamole, but the "chips" ended up being large, round tostada-style pieces that you break apart yourself. Not what I was expecting, but it was a creative twist and the guac itself was fresh and flavorful, just not exactly what I would prefer for either the chips or that style guacamole. Not bad just not for me. I would like to know if they are cooking with seed oils and will find out soon.
Now for the dinner--that was where the restaurant came through a bit. The steaks, Branzino, and other dishes were all very well-prepared, with unique flavors and thoughtful presentation. The kitchen clearly puts a lot of care into the food, and it shows. It was good but expensive, hence the $$$'s.
That said, the overall style of the restaurant was just a bit more "out there" than what I usually go for when it comes to Mexican cuisine, even "upscale" Mexican. It's definitely a more elevated and experimental approach, which I can respect, but it's not necessarily my go-to.
I may come back at some point, but with so many great Mexican restaurants that offer the full, traditional experience, this spot may not be at the top of my list. Still, if you're looking for something different and well-executed, it's worth trying at least once. Due to inclement weather, we're not able to sit on the rooftop, but that is definitely a plus.
