"This Dundee Hills estate is far more than a vineyard and winery: Durant makes its own olive oil with olives grown onsite, hosts overnight visitors in its vineyard cottage, and welcomes families to stroll down its nature trail or through its gardens. However, because of Durant’s eclectic offerings and jaw-dropping hillside views with Mount Hood on the horizon, it’s a hot ticket, so reservations are recommended. For walk-ins, our best bet is to taste on a rain-free day, when the area can host more walk-ins in uncovered tasting areas. The tasting lodge is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily." - Zoe Baillargeon, Brooke Jackson-Glidden

First time visiting this winery. Very beautiful setting and friendly staff. Did a wine tasting and ordered a charcuterie and some chickpea and sweet pea hummus. Everything was delicious. Wine was a little on the lighter side for my preference but everything was outstanding. We also did an olive oil tasting which I highly recommend.

Google
This is a great winery! Excellent views when tasting, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Wines were delicious. Even did an olive oil tasting and of course I didn't leave empty handed. Definitely don't sleep on their shortbread cookies they're amazing.

Our fav spot during this trip. Perfect view of the valley, and Jim the brand ambassador is super cool.

Google
This was such a great experience! The property is gorgeous and has a garden/nursery, a gift shop where you can taste their olive oils, and a nature trail if you want to take a stroll. Their tasting room/area offers indoor, outdoor covered, and outdoor lawn seating that overlooks the vineyard. We did the flight of wines and our host was very friendly and knowledgeable! Definitely worth a good part of the day to lounge, walk, and enjoy some wine (and treats: their salted chocolate brownie is super good).

I came here with my friend and moved two chairs to sit in the sun after ordering our bottle of wine and food. Once we sat down, this woman with a tattoo of a whole garden flowers on her both arms came over and told us that we can not move lawn chairs and those chairs are for only those who reserved it with a phone call. To make it clear, there were no "reserved" signs on any of the tables. The whole time we were there, we've noticed that there were no one came for those chairs. With almost 99.9% of the white people who were sitting at all the tables, I can see why this woman didn't want someone with brown skin sitting there. Shame on you, tatooed woman with a white shirt. There were so many empty tables with lawn chairs around, and you did not want us to sit where we were. If you are not white, I would not go to this pathetic place. However, the server Daniel, whom we had, was really great and tried to cheer us up and serve our wine and food by knowing what had happened. Beautiful place with a horrible server with a terrible attitude. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE. To the owner of this vineyard , be careful of whom you hire as employees. They can give you a bad reputation. Hire people who respect and treat everyone the same. Answer to the owner - Thank you for the apology. At least you or your staff should have put a note on each table if they are reserved without asking us to go find any table that is available. As I mentioned before in my review, those chairs or some other tables were not occupied at all during our two hour stay. My friend who visited your place more than 6 times told me that it never happened to her before when she visited with her son. They used to grab a chair and sit. I guess there is a profiling as one reviewer said in his google review.

Google

Google
We had a great experience here for Mother’s Day! We did a wine tasting with food and went over to taste olive oil and shop afterwards. The staff were all amazing, kind and helpful. The guy who was pouting our wine was very knowledgeable and fun to chat with. We could not have been more pleased with our afternoon there.

Google
We had a really nice time here. They were ready for us when we arrived for our reservation and gave us options as to where we'd like to sit since the weather was iffy. We sat in the pavilion which gave a nice breeze along with the beautiful view. Their property is huge and has a gift shop. Plenty to see. Their wine is tasty and everyone we spoke to seemed to like working there. Definitely a do-over!

Marilyn R.

Yelp
What a beautiful and welcoming place ! Chris made us feel right at home and gave us just enough details on every pour. There is a lot to explore here, but we arrived late so we will plan another visit. Just a beautiful spot, and wonderful wines !

Miley D.

Yelp
Great view. We came too late in the day for a tasting. We had a glass of wine instead and some food. The dip and tortilla chips were incredible. And the olives were out of this world!

Dan V.

Yelp
Really nice winery with stunning views of Mt Hood out east. The wine is good but we think the olive oil steals the show. Great selection of natural and infused oils and balsamics. Great oil tasting bar with really knowledgeable staff.

Robert K.

Yelp
Really cool place. Omg it's like a outdoor dream come true. So many things to do here besides taste great wine. Many trails, olive oil tasting and more. You can go hiking on a trail, see a bee hive and even get some homemade pizza in the brick over in the parking lot for $20.00. The view are spectacular and on clear day you can see Mt. Hood in the distance. I talked with Paul who works there. He is a somalier with many year of experience working for erath and other vineyards throughout the area. He is really cool and knowledgeable about all the grapes in the region. I can't wait to take my friend Betty here. She is going to love it.

Yelp
In the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, we had a couple of disappointing experiences with tasting rooms (one we couldn't even get into). This was not the case with Durant. After a little wait, we were greeted by Mariah. We asked if we could have a glass of wine on their patio without a reservation. She said, "you've come to the right place." Then we asked if we could also have a tasting. She said, "well, we are a little short-staffed but, why not?" She seated us in chairs on the grass, under an umbrella, with a drop dead gorgeous view. Everyone at this winery seemed to be busy, but they spent time with each guest making them feel welcome and not rushed. Mariah is very knowledgeable about the wines and gave us some good tips about other wineries in the area. There is another wine server at Durant who reminds everyone of Santa and has also been very welcoming to us. This was only my second time visiting Durant but I'll be taking all of my out-of-town guests here. The first time we had time to sample the olive oils and walk around the lavender field. Plus, I love their Pinot Gris. The pics are from both visits.

Yelp
The 2 stars are for the lovely view and good food and olive oil - absolutely no complaints there. Unfortunately, the service was terrible, the pours were small, and the wine was my least favorite of all the wines I tried in the area (we were on a winery tour). The service was actually really upsetting. We were served a tasting without being asked if we wanted one (even though we were on a tour, we opted for ordering a bottle to split or individual glasses at the other places we went), the server was very slow to bring the next tasting and the pours were small so we sat with empty glasses for ~20 minutes. Most importantly, we were only given 3 out of 4 tastings, but we were charged full price. We asked if we could order full glasses at one point and the server said yes, but waited a really long time to take our order and at that point we didn't have enough time for a full glass because we were on a tour and they were fully aware of this. It actually seemed like they were being neglectful on purpose because they didn't want to serve us, but none of us had much to drink at that point and we certainly didn't act inappropriately. One of the people I was with said they heard the server talking badly about us behind the bar :( I believe it because looking back, they were only friendly as they were checking us out.

Kyle K.

Yelp
Wine flight was very food. I'm a fan of bolder wines, but the rosé of Pinot noir and Chardonnay were actually my favorite in this flight. What really sets this place apart is their cheese and charcuterie platter - maybe the best I've ever had anywhere. The vineyard also harvests olive oil, and the kind they poured over the goat cheese was incredible. Elliot did a great job keeping things moving without rushing and the gift shop was lovely as well. It's worth the trip!

Kelsey F.

Yelp
A great spot and good wine! A group of us were in for a bachelorette party last month and had two bottles of the rose and really enjoyed it. Jim was great! Views are amazing and walking around the property (checking out the lavender) and stopping into the gift shop is a must.

Yelp
Love this vineyard so much!! Wonderful friendly folk with the best vino AND olive oil I have ever tasted!!

Ashley L.

Yelp
Great winery to spend the day at! Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. We opted to sit in their outdoor section that had heat lamps and blankets. Would recommend.

Susie T.

Yelp
Outstanding Wine, luscious olive oil, and flower and pants I am surrounded by paradise

Jamie C.

Yelp
Just spectacular. You could spend easily four or so hours here. Want to return for the olive oil tasting, but they do offer a complimentary version as well. Wines were pretty good but the rest of the offerings were even better. The bread and cheese appetizer was exquisite. They make al of their own honeys, cheeses, wine, salts, etc etc. They also offer a variety of tours. You can do an ATV tour, a tractor tour, a wine and oil tasting, just a wine tasting, have a hotel room to stay in, a gift shop, on and on. I bought a bottle of their award winning EVOO and one of the blackberry and roasted pepper vinegars. Two of the best things I've ever tasted! Such variety here. MAKE A RESERVATION!

Ashley C.

Yelp
Beautiful place! We went here because they had vendors selling pickles, we were on a pickle hunt that day. But they had so much more than that, there was Kelly's jellys and olive oil tasting and wine tasting. Great place! Would definitely come back.

Bernard N.

Yelp
We were delighted to have been taken in without any reservations and it was quite busy. Their wines were delicious and the views was spectacular. We wanted to do wine tasting in the actual vineyard rather than a tasting room in town and this was the spot.

S A.

Yelp
Very cute setting, Paul our server was knowledgeable , and personable. Bonus! They take walk ins. There's more to do here than than just wine tasting. Beautiful garden, olive tasting, then tastings with a beautiful view of the valley. Wines in most places are

Yelp
Did the estate experience with John which entailed Olive Oil and wine tasting with food and tour. Worth every penny. John was outstanding, fun and informative. The Oils were great, the wine was best with the food which was delicious across the board. Got there early and had a glass on the patio and the views were the best in the area. The lady checking us in let us sample each so we got to pick a favorite. Super service throughout the property. Don't miss Durant when in Willamette Valley.

B H.

Yelp
The service was with a smile. This group knows and understand what a special product they have with the property, views, wines, olive oil, nursery, chefs. Great experience for us and other family members. Let me know if you can find a lovelier property with as quality of wine.

Laurel R.

Yelp
A must stop in the northern Willamette Valley! We stopped here in a whim after another winery without a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. Great view and plenty of spread out seating options! We had wine flights and enjoyed the flavors. The baguette was delicious and we enjoyed browsing the gift shop! Check this place out!

Yelp
Review Durant I wrote an honest review depicting a snapshot of our visit, highlighting many great points and only two concerns. That was the sum total of my motive. Besides that, we were just one voice among many happy reviews. I was so shocked that I received three different appreciative emails from high ranking company positions voicing real concern over our snapshot. Each one a day a part. Sadly, in most companies, gone are the days of real customer service. However, that is not true here. They wanted to make it right so we could have the appropriate experience that most people who come to this winery have. They provided admirably without the slightest hint of negativity. Excellent wine selection for our flight couples with the service of caring and knowledgeable staff. I don't believe our time could have been better. A shout out to Amanda. We even desired three bottles, not because of feeling obligated, but because we actually loved the wine. We understand that any business or employee can have an off day. That's a reality. But it takes a solid, caring business and staff to want to make it right for the customer. And it takes boldness to carry it through. This is what the company did. Bravo.

Yelp
We were traveling down from CA to Portland and wanted to get a taste of Pinot Noir. Dundee hills has amazing wineries with views. We went down knocking doors without reservation, a mistake on weekend. However as we were coming down, we ran into Durant Vineyards. Very approachable winery and plenty of space. Loves the wine and the seating arrangement.

PD L.

Yelp
Beautiful property and view. The tasting pours were not even 2 full sips. Nice girl pouring but the skimpy pour made it so you couldn't really taste and take in the flavor of the wine. For $30 a tasting it was disappointing.

Ali G.

Yelp
We came here for a tour of the olive mill and the EVOO tasting. The weather was perfect and the venue was very well maintained and clean. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The EVOO was delicious as well! I feel like you get what you should out of what you paid for with this location.

Karen J.

Yelp
Smallest pours and waited a long time between tastings and thought we were being forgotten being all the way in the corner of the patio. I also asked for a fireplace and while there was one open i was told that we weren't able to use it because someone had called in to request it but it should be first come first serve unless that was a standing reservation. Also did not see a difference between their Pinot Noir samplings. Took my daughter for her first wine tasting and was really disappointed because I saw multiple great reviews. It was her first time at a winery and it was just an underwhelming experience. We had a fairly new sommelier so maybe that's why our service was below average.

Jenn W.

Yelp
We visited Durant this past weekend during a visit to the Portland area, and this was our favorite vineyard by far. Durant is a family owned winery, and you definitely get that vibe when you visit. We started at the gift shop and checked out the olive oils that they make on site. The ladies in the gift shop were so sweet and walked us through the types of olive oils they have. We ended up purchasing some things there, before heading up to the wine tasting room. The grounds are stunningly gorgeous! At the wine tasting, Steve Allen helped us, and he was phenomenal. We got our first glass, then headed outside to enjoy the views from their Adirondack chairs. Each time we were ready for the next wine, Steve was there - never hovering or overbearing. He told us about the winery, the winemaker, the family, etc. and it was clear that he enjoys working there. My favorite wine was the Lark Rose, and my husband's was the Bishop Pinot Noir. If you're in the area checking out wineries, but sure to visit this one. We visited two others that day, but Durant was our favorite!

Melissa C.

Yelp
The tasting room is large and we loved the club chairs by the fireplace. The outside is beautiful with ample seating. We ordered a glass of wine instead of the tasting bc our server eluded to small pours the bread and olive oil was outstanding! The cheese and olive oil was very tasty. We thoroughly enjoyed our server who was very personable.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Gorgeous tasting room, wonderful wines, and delicious olive oils! We had an amazing experience at Durant. Daniel was an excellent host! He was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the wines and provided us with a fun tasting! Order the food to go along with your tasting, and definitely sample the olive oils and vinegars, as well.

Yasuyo T.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the visit here. The wine is not bad. It is a small place. But I really enjoyed Olive and salt that they sell over there. I feel like the olive is much better quality than ones that I got in Italy. I would definitely recommend to check this place out on not only wine but olive oil.

Kristen N.

Yelp
We were sent here from a neighboring vineyard because I enjoy cooking and we had discussed olive oils. Well Durant does an estate oil that is award winning and very delicious ($45 a bottle for their limited edition) and they also do some blended oils with olives from California as well that are a little less $22. You can do a full oil tasting as well and see what speaks to you! But in trying to find my way around this property I stumbled upon Bobby who could not have been any more accommodating and friendly! She is amazing and had such a passion for Durants products and garden. She was great to talk with and gave me the full rundown on the oils, products, their beautiful garden which is on site is used in the food preparations within the tasting room and all their offerings. I also enjoyed the outdoor garden where you do your tasting for the oil and don't miss their wedding venue as well. This property is really stunning and massive! Sorry we did not have time to try their wines but we will definitely put it on our list to go back!! I picked up some of their oil Ann amazing balsamic which was super interesting and some salts. They also had some beautiful hand forged cheese implements and spoons! Really a great little specialty shop!!

Ashley L.

Yelp
Extremely friendly and wonderful host. I didn't have a reservation for a tasting, but they graciously offered me to have a glass of wine. Great views and a nice little walking trail about 1 mile long.

T O.

Yelp
Amazing views, a family feel, delicious wine, and olive oil in Oregon! You must visit Durant.

Cameron S.

Yelp
The view here is spectacular and the charcuterie plates they have are wonderful. Make sure to taste the basil olive oil too. Why two stars? - the service is terrible. I have been here twice and the first time the host forgot we were in the building. She came only once to our table and the other time we got service was when the food came out. The second time I came was today. The tasting room wasn't that busy but the lady working was rude. I ordered a bread plate and she literally ran out of the room afterward. I asked another person how they know where to take the food and he helped me. The lady was rude and said "you don't have a number yet". The whole experience was troublesome and having just come from Gran Moraine Durant was subpar at every turn. Durant felt like the Cracker Barrel of vineyards.

Emily R.

Yelp
I cannot express how much I love this place! While the wine tasting is great (you must try the Rosé) but the olive oil tasting is where it's at! I love the small shop, I found gifts for even the hardest people to buy for! What a view!!!

Alexandra W.

Yelp
We absolutely loved visiting Durant Vineyards! Their tasting room and patio overlooks our favorite views in all of Dundee and their vineyards. This winery is definitely worth your stop in! We had a lovely flight out on the chairs in the sun. This winery is also dog friendly! Also, don't forget their amazing olive oil!

Michael C.

Yelp
-W-onderful wine. -I-ncredible views. -N-ice tasting room. -E-xcellent service. Durant Vineyards was the first stop of the day on our wine tasting adventure. My first impression was that setting was beautiful. The backdrop of picturesque views overlooking the sunny valley was a terrific way to start the day. The tasting room is spacious, as well as simple and elegant. Service was terrific. After our wine tasting, we ventured over to the next building for olive oil tasting. Apparently, they are one of the largest olive oil producers in the Pacific Northwest. There are a variety of olive oils to sample, and the staff are friendly and welcome any questions about their products. BOTTOM LINE: A great experience overall at Durant Vineyards.

Garrett W.

Yelp
Visited: March 1, 2020. We went to the winery and then realized they do a lot with Olive Oil and we quickly had an interest in doing an olive oil tasting. The tasting is free but we purchased a cookbook after we tasted. The olive oil tasting room is so pretty and peaceful. Tamara answered all the questions we had and brought such a gentle and relaxing energy to the space. She's the perfect person to have in the room. We didn't want to leave. We then went to the winery where we got to try a Sauvignon blanc (not found at many wineries) and realized we had to leave. There's a big outdoor space with Adirondack Chairs and fire pits if you want to chill out. I got to pet a dog, so that is always a plus.

Arianne R.

Yelp
The best vineyard and wine tasting room I've been to. I was so impressed I became a member!

Michelle R.

Yelp
Wonderful spot. Family owned for 45 plus years. I am so impressed with all they've done to make a visit a 'full bodied' experience. No pun intended.

Molly M.

Yelp
Beautiful views and amazing wine but you can never ever get a tasting reservation for the same day you visit. This is not the same as other wineries which are as popular if not more so. I dropped my membership because of how annoying it is to try and book a time to visit. I wish they would go back to allowing drop in tastings.

Laura H.

Yelp
Phenomenal experience! It was raining hard, but the outdoor tent seating was dry and warm and the service was exceptional. Emma Anderson took such good care of us. Such a fun, knowledgeable, well traveled, educated, and witty young woman to share the afternoon with. The gift store is exquisite and unique; the staff was fun there too! I can't wait to go back.

Travis T.

Yelp
This was the second stop on my wine tasting tour. We did the 4 wine tasting and I thought all of them were good. Definitely better wine than Erath, but their prices are also a lot higher. I also preferred the experience at Erath where they told you about the wine and were attentive. The person working at Durant just poured the wine and walked away. The tasting area was also a bit crammed and I was bumping elbows with the person next to me. I wanted to buy bottles of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but the Pinot Noir was a bit out of my price range. The best part was the bread with olive oil and black lava sea salt that they offered samples of. I was tempted to take the entire tray for myself.

Justin K.

Yelp
This was our last stop on our wine tour for the day. It was a great way to end our Oregon wine tasting experience. We did show up as they were closing, so there was only one person there doing the pouring but she stayed later then she had to and was super friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. The ones here were good but no great. I enjoyed there Chardonnay which was lightly oaked. I like my aged in oak and not steel, so that is a personal preference. Their pinots were good as well. I enjoyed their Bishop Pinot which had complexity and a smooth finish. I definitely walked away with a bottle of this. Next to the wines the view is absolutely amazing. To sit there, look at Mt Hood on the horizon and enjoy a glass of pinot on a beautiful day, I couldn't have asked for much more. Unfortunately we did not get a chance to enjoy their olive oils. Maybe next time.

Paul P.

Yelp
Used to be my favorite place. Now not so much, great view! rude staff!!! Especially a staff member named Christina. Getting a little hot for there Bridgets. So many better places and better wine in this area. Wine ok, and I'm being nice. Only went there for the view and the fact that you could bring a basket of goodies cause there's was weak. But loved it until the staff became so rude and you can no longer bring a picnic type of atmosphere it's all about rules and they feel Powerful and want to enforce. It's gross! Have fun!

Henry H.

Yelp
BEWARE!!! I went there today and asked for a lawn seat/chair. I was asked if I had a reservation. I told the waitress that I didn't but that I would like to sit on the lawn and try their wine sampler. She told me that I would have to sit on a regular table to get the wine sampler. I ordered a bottle of $35 wine and got the lawn seating. I stayed for about 2 1/2 hours and never did the lawn seating ever become full. Both couples on each side of me (on the lawn seating) ordered the wine samplers. Without a doubt these people profiled me.......and I am "a white middle aged male". Would hate to think how I would have been treated if I was a minority (as I think about it there were no customers but Caucasians). AVOID these people!!!!!!

Jen A.

Yelp
We had the best time on the tractor tour with our family in town! It was a great activity to be social distanced but still enjoy Oregon Wine Country. It was a very authentic tour and we thoroughly enjoyed the wine! What a fun day :)

Jessica M.

Yelp
What a fun, and beautiful little winery! We had a private lunch & tour here, so we really had some time to explore and snoop around. For the lunch, they had us setup under their wisteria archway by the lavender fields - such a beautiful setting! The catering wasn't them, but it was fabulous anyway. Paul (owner's son) was our tour guide, so it was great to not only learn about the family winery, but the other stuff they do - like olive oil! We got to walk around with Paul through the vineyards as well, and tasted wines along the way. And such a beautiful day for a tour as you can see from the photos! Before we left, we had time to shop in the gift shop & tasting room and buy wines to bring home if we wanted. I was impressed with how accommodating they were to our packing needs - most everyone I was with was wanting to get one of their special shipping boxes so the wine could be checked as luggage on the flight home, and they were running back and forth to storage to get whatever we wanted! They have a huge lawn area with comfortable chairs out by their tasting room. I could see it being really fun to pack a picnic, and just hang out here all afternoon!

Brianna M.

Yelp
Great way to spend a few hours with a beautiful view. Split a wonderful Pinot Gris with a friend and enjoyed the scenery.

Schatzi M.

Yelp
Breanna and Christina are Amazing! I came here on a tasting and joined the winery. It is a wonderful family owned winery in Oregon. I drive from Seattle to enjoy this property and the winery. The staff are very knowledgeable and don't push anything. They cater to your taste. I highly recommend this winery for anyone who loves a family owned business who values FAMILY! Amazing olive oil as well. I can't say enough about this place. The staff make this amazing and above the other wineries in the area! They know you on a first name basis and are very attentive!

Danielle K.

Yelp
You really can't beat the views at Durant Vineyards. As far as their wine goes, it is delightful, though not my favorite in the valley. They have a nice little olive oil shop a short walk away with lots of goodies there. This is definitely worth a stop in for a tasting!

Tamara C.

Yelp
A wave of déjà vu swept over me as I walked in. Then it came to me; we had an awesome Yelp Elite event here a couple of years ago. It was good to be back! This was a great way to wrap up a fantastic day of wine tasting on our Embrace Oregon wine tour. The grounds, the view and just the entire property, everything is beautiful. The wines are all delicious and the folks here are friendly and welcoming. What's not to like? The pinot gris was the winner in my book, I am kicking myself for not buying a bottle when I had the chance as I think it would have gone well with Thai food, which I also love. I suppose I will just have to come visit Durant Vineyards again and this time, snag a bottle of that pinot gris. At $18.00 a bottle, it was reasonably priced. When at Durant, wander over to the adorable Red Ridge Farms boutique for some olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting - so good! I see another wine tour is in my future and I'll most certainly call upon Embrace Oregon. 2014 - Review # 13
