Okay, I get it now. The rumors are true: This place is unbelievably good.
Drinks: The bartender was wicked friendly & talented.
I ordered the "Chilton" cocktail which is a very out-of-character drink for me, but I'm SO glad I did. Grapefruit vodka, house-made grapefruit cordial, lemon, soda, & a salt rim. I asked for extra salt & she delivered. I think I drank my first drink in 5 seconds flat, because it was that good. I ordered another, of course.
My partner had the "Old Fashioned On Draft" - Yes that's right. On draft. I snuck a sip & it was pretty good. *Very* good for $10.
Food: Oh my god? Phenomenal. We had the wood grilled shishito peppers to start. They came with bbq mayo dip that paired perfectly. Off to a great start.
For the main event, we went with brisket, pork belly, wood grilled wings (sweet & spicy mustard style), & potato salad. We ate mostly in silence because of how good it all was.
Bonus points for passing the gluten-free test.
Even more bonus points for passing the microwaved-leftovers-the-next-day test. Somehow the pork belly (which might be the best pork belly I've ever had in my life) was even better the next day.
Thank you, Durk's, for blowing my mind. We'll definitely be back.
