Durty Bull is an excellent brewery. I had the rice lager and two hazy IPAs while there. All are excellent beers! There’s tons of outdoor seating but the main taproom area has a small cozy feel. The mojo of the place is great and it has a nice vibe overall. Craig, who was working, is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. Lots of beers on tap and a good selection of to-go options. I’d definitely recommend this brewery.

Went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was a great time. We got flights and had fun doing trivia! They had lots of outdoor seating options with tents so the sun wasn’t in your face. The people were very friendly. They had a food truck parked in the parking lot which was nice. The parking was super easy for us on a Sunday afternoon but it is mostly just street parking so I could see how it could be difficult other times. They have indoor seating too but I didn’t go into that room because we sat exclusively outside. Will be back!

Google
Great beer. First time to durham and picked an area to visit as many breweries as possible before going to a Bulls game. This was top of the list. Had a flight and I would drink all 4 that i ordered. Make sure to visit when in town!

Google
This is a great spot. Inside it's low key with a few picnic style tables, a bar, and some great beer. The brewery side is separate from the bar side and is full of beer vats and brewing equipment but there is also lots of great picnic table seating as well. Outside the property is fenced in with tons of space to hang out play corn hole and enjoy the evening air.

Google
Amazing beer selection, friendly staff and super clean. Well setup and allows dogs into inside area for colder nights. Warm tent outside for shelter from winds and 16 beers on draft. Soon to offer dog beers from a local company. Amazing seltzer, ipa, sours, and lighter beers.

Google
Stopped in while visiting from Delaware. Very cool place. The beer was decent (the stouts were the best of the bunch) and there was indoor and outdoor seating available. It's a fun place to pass an afternoon/evening.

Google
Always a great experience! No gluten free brews, but they have cider and wine. Love the live music, disc golf baskets, old school video games, food trucks, etc. Had a great time at trivia tonight and enjoyed a couple of ciders. Still waiting on a gluten free on deglutenized beer though.

Visited for the first time on a Sunday afternoon. Delicious beers and a super amazing staff. It was also nice to see the pride flags.

Yelp
Came here for the Open Mic Comedy Show, which they have on Fridays at 8pm, and had a great time! Was recommended the "Amateur Hour- Tropical Colada Fruited Seltzer" (smoothie-style hard seltzer with pineapple, orange, coconut, and nutmeg) when I asked for something sweet and the least "alcohol-y" haha, it was pretty tasty! Ambiance is relaxed, service is great. There's a free parking lot and lots of nearby street parking. 10/10 would recommend, awesome place to hang with friends!

Yelp
I went here with my aunt and we loved it. There was a very welcoming environment. They had something for everyone. Evan was great! He helped us figure out what we wanted. I don't like beer, but they have seltzers and cocktails as well.

Yelp
I have loved this place since I first met here with @bikedurham for community meetings in the before times. I stopped by a few times during the pandemic and ate with the food trucks that were here and enjoyed open mic night with my daughters, but hadn't been inside for years. They have added a game room and other seating amid the brewing tanks. It's a very chill, fun vibe, and, of course, their libations are all beyond the pale. I've been drinking their Painkiller riff (they call it a hard cider. I call it tasty goodness!) at a local restaurant for a month or so now, so thought I'd get it on tap here. The nice bartender said "You want it as a slushie?" I had no better answer than "Of course!" He even put an umbrella bendy straw in to complete the tiki-ness of the drink! I'm having a great afternoon! How you doin'?
google avatar

Scott J.

Yelp
There are several breweries to choose from in Durham, this is one of the good ones. They have several great beers on tap and so live music and trivia throughout the month.
google avatar

Yelp
Wow. Can beer be this bad? I don't think so. I think ppl here focus on IPA more than sour beer. Everything is tasting like hoppish ipa. Which is not my type of tea. 2 stars. Stop asking those unlaughable amateur comedians being on stage and talk about awkwardness

Yelp
The drinks: there's a large overhanging chalkboard menu with amusing drink makes. However, there's not much info of what's in them or the prices. To get that info is less obvious in that you have to walk up to the counter to see a couple laminated menus with all the description you could want. Drinks range from $7-$8. Even then being an alcohol newb I got lost in the options. Helpfully though the barista listened to what I wanted and offered me a sample in a shooter cup. I asked for something sour, fruity and popular, and got a passion fruit drink which did get me tipsy as a lightweight. The cub was tall and slim like a flute. The flavor was nicely balanced between sour and fruity, like if you took the natural sourness of lilikoi passion fruit up a couple notches. As someone who has lived in Hawaii, I approved. Location: Durty Bull Brewing Company is a bit of a Frankenstein indoor outdoor location. It's located outside of the bustling shop area in a bit of a residential zone which is quieter. The whole sector has an industrial turned upscale pub, but Durty Bull has the feeling of being a few years from that. Definitely has more of a neighborhood community center/frat house vibe than anything posh. Which it so happens I prefer. The issue with this is that there is some infrastructure issues to iron out. Issues: The expanded outside seems like a response to the complaints of the humid inside. It is a concern as the space inside is tight with people congregating under the air conditioner which also happens to be in front of the enter/exit door. And i was there at night when it was 74 degrees outside! The outside was actually preferable to being inside. The floor plan in general isn't my favorite, as it did seem like the relatively small interior space, various leftover walls and makeshift elongated walkway could lend itself to spilled drinks. Maybe the steel walkway is a response to such concerns to even out traffic flow. It's good that the owners are listening to complaints, as the open mic comedy special being outdoors seemed like a new thing. I didn't mind standing with a beer outside, though there was several types of picnic tables underneath tents and a food truck. Overall: Durty Bull Brewing Company definitely passed the vibe check for me. I liked the drink and the willingness to laugh that the patrons had. The area felt safe to be drunk in (there was even a lady with a baby strapped to her). $7 is more than I really want to spend on a drink, but at least I can say here there is an honest effort, and the atmosphere is there, in its crude, down home way.

Yelp
Really friendly staff, fun atmosphere, plentiful seating. Durty Bull often holds events like trivia, live music, and watch parties. There's always a food truck present if you're hungry. There are so many beer options. I've been on a gluten free journey lately, so I'm pleased to say that their house hard seltzers are really great!
google avatar

Stevan P.

Yelp
Went there with a friend to talk over a few beers, and the food truck parked in the patio with a very loud generator was so obnoxious it was impossible to stay. We asked but the management wouldn't do anything about it. Not going back!
google avatar

Juan Q.

Yelp
I visit Durty Bull weekly for my run club. Their standouts for me are the Beer Flavored Beer Pilsner and the Painkiller seltzer that somehow manages to taste like a fizzy smoothie while picking a whopping 6.5% ABV. Special shout-out to $500 Jeans for knocking me on my butt after drinking two. Star deducted Bc its very chilly outside during the winter months They usually have a Vegan food truck hanging around. Trivia on Thursdays.

Yelp
We came here because it was beautiful outdoors that day and they had music! I ordered a white wine with peach mimosa and hubs ordered a brew. Both were ok and we didn't stay long because they were re paving the seating area and since we brought the pup she would be really dirty laying in that. We may try again once they finish that. We aren't crazy about sours and they had a lot of that on tap. Nice venue and we will check out again.

Yelp
This was my favorite brewery of our visit. I got a flight that included Sippy cup, My Mom still packs my lunch, You're doing it wrong, and Do I look like I know what a JPEG is? I can't remember what the last one was called. I enjoyed them all with My Mom and JPEG as my favorites.
google avatar

Anna P.

Yelp
I always like to get flights when I go to breweries. I got the sippy cup, my mom still packs my lunch, king of the beach, melonius funk, queeny's kolsch. My favorite was probably king of the beach (a sour). My least favorite was my mom still packs my lunch (stout) which was a bit disappointing because stouts are my favorite.

Yelp
Love checking out breweries in new cities when I travel and durty bull was one of the stops I made in Durham. They had a lot of unique sounding sours on the menu, so I went with one of those (can't remember the name), but it was solid. I was a little surprised at the high prices for some of their beers, but that is not atypical at craft breweries. A solid choice for a craft beer in Durham.
google avatar

Jennie B.

Yelp
Wow, how my review has changed since my first visit. I initially did not like Durty Bull and avoided it for years and that was my bad. Their beer has improved so much and I love the beer slushies that they offer. The outdoor vibe is great and they host really great events (trivia twice a week for the win!). The staff are still super welcoming and friendly. I appreciate having a go-to spot that doesn't get as crowded as other bars near Rigsbee. Also, they have some really great food trucks as well that you don't often see at other places!
google avatar

Richie K.

Yelp
Been a few years since my previous review so wanted to take the time to provide an update. First and foremost, Matt and team are doing their darnedest to keep customers and employees safe during the pandemic which I know isn't easy. What other breweries have offered on site PCR testing from Curative?. On the beer side, the menu continues to grow and I really appreciate the willingness to collaborate, whether for the opening of Queeny's or another Bull City Beer Runners birthday. Bull City Beer Runners (meet at Durty Bull every Tuesday at 7:00pm!) aside, there's always a whole host of cool things things going on at the brewery from the holiday market to music and comedy. Come by and check it out!

Yelp
This brewery is located in more of an industrial part of Durham and looks like it was an old warehouse at one time. There is a chain link fence around the perimeter of the location. Access to the tap room is a metal ramp type of set up. But I kind of like the industrial feeling to it. There is outdoor tables with umbrellas, corn hole outside and also indoor seating. The girl that was working there on the day we went was very nice and helpful Parking is good. You can park inside the chain fence but also on the street. The only negative to me is there were a lot of IPAs and sours, which I dont care for.. so that is more my problem than theirs! LOL! They did have a lager on draft and it was actually one of the better beers that we tried all day. I would definitely go back. If you like lagers or light beers for hot days, the lager is a really good choice.
google avatar

Yelp
In town and went here using our Groupon on casual Thursday night. The brewery is located on a quiet side street so there was plenty of parking available. Our Groupon came with flights so we were able to choose from the many options of beer they had ranging from Sour IPAs to wheat beers. We really enjoyed the Right Round which was their Raspberry sour IPA. The rest of the beers were tasty as well. They also have the Dankery food truck outside every time the brewery is open to service your hunger. They serve some of the best friend chicken sandwiches around! The night we went they had an open mic comedy show in the back which was nothing short of hilarious, seems like this runs weekly. They also have other events which go on during the course of the week. We will definitely be going back!!

Yelp
Great beer and fun atmosphere. Been there twice from Maryland. Always great service. Big fun.

Yelp
Casual, low-key, no-fuss type of place to go out with friends and chat or play some board games over a couple of beers. The whole "storage shed converted into a brewery" type of ambience is so quintessentially Durham. This is the kind of place that you'd pick if you're feeling like you want to hang out with some close friends or family without having to go through the headache of downtown Durham parking. If you're looking to end up in Shooters in a couple of hours though, I'd probably pick a rowdier bar with a younger crowd. They have two "rooms" inside, and a large projector screen in the main room that shows the big basketball games. There's seating outdoors as well with cute strings of lights hanging overhead. The place is dog-friendly.

Yelp
Amazing beer, many options for Sours and a nice nutty gose, hard to find decent sours that aren't over powering or so sour you can't finish it. The Orange range has to be the best sour I have had in a long time. We are huge brewery hoppers too. Deff try it out. You do need vaccination proof & ID to come in!!
google avatar

Stephanie J.

Yelp
Best brewery in Durham? No. Creative beers? Yes. On this visit I was able to try several small pours of Durty Bull beers, none of which super impressed me. A few of the beers that I did like included the Durty Bull Blonde Sour, Brett's Cinnamon Apple Ale and Durty Bull BBA Blackberry Sour. The taproom is smaller but they do have an outdoor seating area. If you are looking for food, check out their website to see what food truck will be on site. Cheers!

Blythe R.

Yelp
Please stop putting BEER in the frozen seltzers without listing it as an ingredient! Very dangerous for those with gluten allergies.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved it here! Got a sour flight and loved all of them, from the orange rosemary one to the key lime one to the one that tasted kind of like a sour chardonnay. Parking - in the lot, or on the street. Games - plenty of board games inside! Seating - plenty of seating within the bar space itself, as well as more tables outside the actual bar more in the brewery area. Outdoor seating - yes! Several picnic tables. Wi-fi - I think? There were people working on their laptops when we went. Food - they have chip bags and other small snacks, but I believe they have a food truck during busier days as well. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
Great spot! Loved the sour flight. They have board games, cornhole and frisbee golf, what is not to love!
google avatar

Sophia B.

Yelp
I just got back from my first trip to Durham, and Durty Bull was my favorite brewery we visited! They have a wide selection of options, from IPAs to sours to hard seltzers & more depending on the day. I got a flight, and every beer was a hit (even the ones I tried that were outside of my usual picks). Really friendly staff, and plenty of seating (some covered, some out in the sun, and heating lamps for those chilly nights). Hoping to come visit again soon!
google avatar

Tim J.

Yelp
Great little brewery. If you like fruity, sours and IPA's this is the place for you. I was pleasantly surprised. A great variety and the bartenders were great in helping me find drinks to try for tasting. Came in for an open mic comedy night. So much fun. Did not disappoint. Great to see people getting out there and having fun.
google avatar

Yelp
Dropped by on a Thursday afternoon to check this place out. I tried out one of the sour ales (King of the Beach) which was tasty. Im not a huge beer drinker so the fact that I liked it says alot. The designs of their cans are super fun and eye catching. The staff was extremely nice and helpful in picking out one of the ales on tap. They also have a gravel parking lot (and of course street parking when that gets full). There's outdoor seating and a permanent food truck located there too. Ill be back to try one of the beer flights and slushie.
google avatar

Yelp
With so many taprooms in Durham, this is probably our third option or so but it's growing on us. We enjoy their stout and were even here for a beer dinner pairing a few years ago. The interior space is small but there are plenty of tables outdoors to facilitate social distancing and food trucks. They've also hosted events in the past featuring local artisans and food trucks. We'll give them props for good beer and good support for the local community.

Emily N.

Yelp
This brewery is amazing. I took a group of friends there, and they had just changed their hours to open a couple hours after we had gotten there. Because they had not updated it on their normal website, they decided to open the brewery early just for us. They also let dogs inside and have amazing beer! Highly recommended.
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
So updated review: Three years later and the beer has improved, the tap room has better lighting and decor, the outdoor seating area is much nicer and the event space is cool. Still the #1 craft brewery in downtown Durham.
google avatar

Bruce G.

Yelp
I agree with some other reviews that this place isn't much to look at and doesn't have as large of a space as Full Steam or Ponysaurus, but they do have competent and friendly staff and a good product (old school video games too!). I had a few of the lagers on my visit and thought the beer tasted smooth and refreshing. Durham is starting to become a brewery town and if you are doing the circuit you should definitely have Durty Bull on your list!
google avatar

chaz t.

Yelp
Awesome brews. We tried the stout which was hearty and slightly malty and sweet. It was 12.5 ACv. We also had the lager and it was a hefty 13 percent alcohol. Both were to go in growlers. An added plus was mikes vegan hotdog truck parked there on Tuesdays.
google avatar

Carly S.

Yelp
Very mediocre beer in a overly hot warehouse location. Came on a Sunday when it wasn't too busy, but they were out of a few of the beers I wanted to try. Ended up getting a flight of 4 different beers (Sippy-Cup Blueberry/Strawberry, Sippy-Cup Mango/Tangerine, Bonus Cup Stout, and The Brutest Brut IPA). My favorite out of the bunch was Bonus Cup Stout, but not the best stout I have ever had. The Sippy-Cups were quite sour and tart even though they were not listed under the sour section. Very let down by this brewery that was the best brewery in Durham a few years back.

Yelp
Okay craft beer in plastic cups.... We decided to check out this spot yesterday after discovering one of their bottled beer at Whole Foods. The tap room is located inside an old garage or warehouse. The indoor portion has a large projection screen, Mario cart for the kids & three tables. Their beers certainly suggest that they are putting in effort. The artwork on their bottled beer is quite good too. Beers that we wanted to try listed on their website, bourbon barrel-aged blackberry sour ale & rhubarb beirliner weisse, we no longer on tap when we got there. So, we opted for others. I had the Brettanomyces IPA & my wife had the Blonde Sour Ale. Now, I don't consider myself as a beer nerd or an expert, so keep in mind this is my opinion. I felt the IPA was odd tasting and make me think of prison hooch as it warmed up. A friend with us had the same beer and struggled to finish it. My wife's sour ale was quite tart. Not that bad though. I suppose we could have tried some other beers in plastic cups, but we decided to just forgo it and head to Fullsteam for a glass. Who knows? I might be back someday.

Yelp
I can't say enough about the awesomeness of this place!! I first discovered Durty Bull in early spring of 2018. Matt the owner/bartender was super friendly and welcoming as soon as my partner and I walked in (with our puppy too!). The beer was great and we loved all the game choices, from old school Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, to pinball and board games. This is a great place to hang out with friends and family! Fast forward several months to my partner's 30th birthday. I was on the hunt for a laid back, yet cool place to throw her a surprise party. I contacted several places with not a lot of luck. Then Durty Bull popped in my mind! Matt was immediately responsive and helpful about renting out his space, along with getting me in touch with local vendors to rent tables and chairs. The prices was so reasonable and the location is great, not to mention the amazing beer! I threw my partner the best surprise party! The bartender that night was so down to earth and appreciative of our business. Set up and clean up was a breeze and we were able to bring in our own food and decorations. You can't go wrong visiting Durty Bull! Cheers, and be sure to try one of their Gose or IPA's!

Yelp
Great brewery to come and hang out in the patio. They sometimes have food trucks, events, musicians, and handmade craft market. Their beer selection is good as well. They have board games that you can play with your friends and they also have Nintendo games. There's parking around and I've never had issues finding a parking space. Overall, a solid place to drink and eat.

Yelp
Durty Bull is a little up-and-coming brewing company born out of the back of a repurposed brick building in Durham. While small, I think they've got the heart to carry them further. Pros: 1. They specialize in sour and barrel aged beers, but have a decent selection of more traditional style and unique flavors. 2. Often have food carts available on-site 3. Also do other events, for example they had a beer and art class when I went going on. 4. Outdoor seating 5. Dog friendly Cons: 1. Inside seating is limited and a little less than cozy. 2. The atmosphere of the venue very much feels like a small brewery with big ideas that are slowly coming to fruition. Between the gerry-rigged walkways, the repurposed building it's situated in, the benign surrounding area, and small taproom, it will take some time for DB to show its true colors. --- What to get: I tried the Ginger Weisse and the Red Wine Barrell Aged Brett. The Weisse was superrr gingery, but good if you're into that, and the Red Wine BAB was fantastic!

Yelp
I totally dig Durty Bull, it reminds me of the Durham breweries of days past with the upgrades of current breweries (ie: clean, private bathrooms). Their beers skew towards high ABV and sours, its space is no frills and hard to find in a not fully updated warehouse. There's a big TV that usually plays the games of the day or FoodTV as the backup. It's a great place to hang out with friends, bring a game, or just catch up. Durty Bull, keep creating those delicious and innovative brews!
google avatar

Claire L.

Yelp
Durty Bull has been a great addition to the brewery scene in Durham over the last year. While not a huge sour or wheat beer fan, the guys here have introduced me to a few that I've really enjoyed, including the current favorite (Hibiscus Ginger Berliner Weiss, and earlier this year, the rosemary orange sour). I appreciate that the taproom looks great and the unisex bathrooms stay clean. I also appreciate that Durty Bull does a lot to get and stay involved in the Durham community. They host workout classes a few times a month (shout out to PiYo from Megan!), plus community markets and music, and you seem to always see them supporting events and organizations in the community. My favorite food truck they host is Baricua Soil, but they have other great ones a few times a week, which they post on their website. Cheers!

Yelp
Durty Bull is a newer brewery specializing in sours and barrel-aged beers. If you're looking for a dose of hops or selection of stouts, you have many other options in Durham. But Durty Bull is EXCELLENT at what they do do, and for this reason, they are my favorite brewery in the Bull City, on the strength of their beers alone. My favorites are their Blonde Sour Ale, Hibiscus Ginger Berliner Weisse, and anything that comes out of a bourbon barrel. For a place specializing in funk, their lager is surprisingly solid, and thus, my beer nerd friends will argue, they pass this critical shibboleth for being a competent brewer. Many of us head to Asheville ("Beer City") for our beer adventures, but I will put my foot down in stating that Durty Bull can serve a sour with the very best of them. The brews are so great that I'm quite willing to overlook some quirks about the vibe, but a reasonable person could disagree. Despite being located just a couple blocks from the Motor Co/Fullsteam crowd (~5 min walk), Durty Bull's location feels much more off the beaten path. Getting to the taproom is slightly unintuitive (up a metal ramp), seating is okay, and the bar is very loosely Simpsons themed in a kind of arbitrary way? There's an N64 with 4 controllers and some mint condition cartridges (GoldenEye! Mariokart!), and a solid collection of board & party games. On weekday evenings, I've often found myself & friends to be the only people there. They serve light snacks (e.g. bags of chips), and occasionally have food trucks parked outside. In general, you'll find some of the best tart and funky flavors in beer anywhere, which is top priority -- I simply can't wait to drink Durty Bull's beer!!! But, I will admit they could benefit from an interior design consult somewhere down the line. If you want to try their beer elsewhere, I've seen it on tap in other places, like the new 'Pour' location in downtown Durham, or bottled/canned at Beer Study or Sam's Bottle Shop.

Lucian S.

Yelp
Durty Bull is one of the best breweries in the Triangle! It's a great place to explore different beer styles. They make delicious, interesting beer that always drinks smoothly. You can trust them on weird beer styles that you're curious about. Their service is outstanding and the environment is set up to maximize customer safety given the pandemic. Their beer is available in many grocery stores and bottle shops throughout the area as well.

Yelp
This place is just around the corner from a few of the other Durham breweries in what looks to be a former industrial building. I had the Indecent IPA, which was categorized as a Northeast IPA, and it was a bit of a miss since it didn't have the hazy grapefruit flavor that you would expect from a NE IPA. We sat outside which was alright, but the inside had that typical dank smell of a small brewery and a very friendly and helpful bartender. Unfortunately, I didn't think there was anything special here. I will admit that the deck was a bit stacked against it with the best hangout spot being outside and it being about 55 degrees and windy. I have heard good things about some of their sours and barrel aged beers, so maybe next time I'll have a better review if I try some of those on a nice sunny day.
google avatar

Sybil L.

Yelp
Great beer, great events, great food truck (shrimp and pasta dankery) outside! Couldn't ask for anything better

Yelp
This is a fairly new brewery in Durham, just a few blocks from the busy area of Motorco and Fullsteam. The immediate neighborhood itself is a bit sketchy-looking, and the high chain-link fence with barbed wire on top doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. The signage is a bit unclear when you get in, but if you wander up the ramp, you'll come past some outdoor seating and into the bar itself. The inside is really quite small - most of the building must be production area. A few tables, some bar seating, and not much else. The beer selection seems to be a bit more specialized than most of the other Durham breweries, with a wide variety of sour beers and IPAs, and not much else. A lager that didn't inspire much love with me. They did have a Bull City Ciderworks cider on tap, which I ended up choosing. Tried a stout out of Sam's Quick Shop that was reasonably good, but they had nothing darker when I visited the brewery itself. Chill place, one baby inside, dog-friendly, with a console and Mario Kart on it for people to challenge each other. Pretty cool place, just didn't enjoy the beers very much.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night, with a Groupon that I purchased. This brewery is located in a very good area, with lots of other breweries within walking distance, and also Boxcar. I liked that this place had the option for food, having a food truck outside. When arriving we went to the bar to get our full pour that came with our Groupon. We tried one of the sours..though I can't remember it's name. Though I'll admit it wasn't my favorite, obviously I still drank it. The tour was short, and sweet. The head brewer was very informative, and answered all of the questions knowledgeably. The place was starting to get crazy packed by the time the tour was over, for their Friday night Open Mic. We went back into the bar area to get our 5 pour flight that also came with our Groupon. The selection was great..we tried a different sour, a barrel aged, IPA, a port, and one other one. All very interesting, and unique flavors. I loved that there were board games, and also Super Mario. Overall, it had a cool vibe to it.

Yelp
Went to Durty Bull on a Friday evening. It's a very casual, and quaint brewery. It has a very cute small outdoor seating area and inside is small as well. They have corn hole outside and a food truck was there as well. We thought they had very simple beers. Didn't try a lot of the beers and ended up ordering the IPA, and a Lager. The IPA was decent but we've had better. The Lager was ok but nothing exciting. We loved the vibe but didn't think the beers were all that.

Yelp
Tucked around the corner from Rigsbee Ave lies a newer brewery that offers a variety of beers. At first glance we questioned if they were open since they have a full on privacy fence with barbed wire around the top and a temporary looking ramp to the entrance of the taproom. We park outside of the fenced area and walked across the street. The taproom is small with a few tables and a small bar with no windows. We tried a couple samples of their beer and my husband really enjoyed several of the sours. I had the Sour Tamarind Saison, the bartender handed me a glass and immediately I saw something stuck on the inside of the glass. At first I thought it was carbonation bubbles, but after a second look there was definitely something there. I tell the bartender and he took it back, looked at it, sat it aside and poured me another beer... never did he apologize that the glass was dirty or seem to care. The weather was nice so we sat outside to have our beers and enjoyed a conversation with neighboring couples. It could really add to the atmosphere if there was some music outside. The ramp really made an impression, with my husband and I walking on it and one other man it was wobbly and the flooring of it popping causing us to spill our beers. We will try the beer again, but we were not overly impressed with the spot. The beer was okay but it wasn't enough to make us sit in a chain linked fenced area on a Saturday afternoon.

Yelp
Bottom line: They allow dogs inside, beers are good, prices are too high for a chill brewery. My husband and I went here to grab a few beers on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't very busy, which was nice. We were able to bring our dog in the tap room (seems like they're welcome anywhere but the actual brewing section). LOVE indoor spaces that allow dogs :). The blonde sour ale was delicious, and my husband liked his saison. It was quiet inside (there were some people studying/working), so it was and easy place for us to talk and be able to hear each other. The only problem we had with this place was the pricing. $7/$8 for a 10 oz pour is kinda ridiculous. Especially when most Durham breweries are charging that or less for a pint.

Yelp
Durham's got a new brewery town, tucked around the corner from the DIY district (Fullsteam/Motorco). At about six months old, the small space is established, but isn't much to write home about. You'll find several basic picnic tables outside and bar seating + community tables within. They're already putting on a variety of events here (cask tappings and more) and are partnering up with some local breweries to collaborate. But, from the beers that I tried from Durty Bull, they're mediocre compared to their competition.
