"We did some cleansing recently, and while that definitely felt good, it hasn't changed the fact that we still thoroughly enjoy being reckless carnivores that sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with the meat sweats. At the conclusion of our One Lucky Duck raw/vegan cleanse a month ago, we were ravenously craving a steak. Rewarding ourselves for staying the course, we took a trip down to Tribeca to fulfill our needs. My family has been coming to Dylan Prime for years, and although it's definitely not the best steakhouse in NYC, there's something about it that's always resonated with me. It's got a cooler, more laid back vibe than most steakhouses, and, compared to Midtown, a better location as well. Prime's main dining room still attracts the usual steakhouse crowd (large groups of [perfect_for slug="suits"]Suits[/perfect_for]), but it balances out with a healthy dose of local flavor. Looking for a more sophisticated spot to watch [perfect_for slug="sports-on-tv"]Sports on TV[/perfect_for]? The Dylan Prime pub room offers up comfortable seating, an expansive bar and a menu of steaks and burgers. Our favorite part about Dylan Prime? They aren't elitist about their meat. They actually encourage diners to smother their steaks in up to four delicious toppings that range from mushroom & truffle to bacon & cheddar. They also have the balls to stuff a filet mignon with oysters. That alone is worth a few points in our book. Pork Belly Tater Tots We weren't really sure how this was going to turn out, but there was no chance we would skip something called "pork belly tater tots". They turned out to be a little underwhelming, but are definitely still worth ordering just for the fun of it.Poached Pear Salad If you're going to roll with a salad as an app, this is the one to go with. Poached Bosc pears, frisée, watercress, candied pistachios and goat cheese. Tasty.Steaks Rock solid steaks. That's what you get at Dylan Prime. Will these cuts of meat blow your mind? Probably not, but that doesn't mean you're aren't in for a meat-eating treat. The fourteen-ounce Rib Eye is our go-to. Load that baby up with Dylan's foie gras butter and green market hot pepper sauce and get to it. We're also big fans of the eleven-ounce Filet and twelve or sixteen-ounce New York Strip. Whatever you order, don't be afraid to go a little crazy with the toppings and the sauces. That's the whole Dylan Prime experience.Carpetbagger Steak An eleven-ounce filet mignon stuffed with Blue Point oysters and served with baby spinach, mashed potatoes, Guinness and brown sugar sauce. Is it weird that once you've dug out the oysters, the rest of your steak kind of smells like the ocean for the rest of the meal? Nope, it's actually kind of awesome.Sides Don't sleep on the sides, Dylan Prime does it up right. The baby baked potatoes with roasted garlic are creamy and delicious. The grilled asparagus is excellent, as is the creamed spinach with bacon. Food Rundown Miniature Beef Wellingtons A miniature take on the classic, these little puff pastry guys are very solid and a good item to share." - Andrew Steinthal

My date bragged about the lobster mac and cheese, so the minute the waiter came to our table we asked him to bring us an order of the side dish. It was super creamy and rich. I wasn't disappointed at all. For the entree, I ordered the marinated skirt steak that came with a chimichurri sauce to spread on top of the meat. Delicious! We didn't want to wait for a table so we sat in the lounge area, which created a causal dinner vibe.

went here on a tuesday night for a client dinner. we were there kind of early, so the restaurant was pretty empty. the porterhouse for two was awesome, amongst the best cuts of beef i have had in the city. there was wine list was good and allowed good pairing with meet. the ambiance wasn't there on tuesday...service was fine.

For a chic downtown swanky feel but yet casual, head to Dylan Prime in Tribeca. The steak is fantastic. They will cook it to your liking, in my case bloody rare. The ribeye was tender and juicy. We started with the lobster bisque. It was light and had chunks of lobster. For the table we got pork belly tots, beef Wellington, crab cakes and an accessory of mac and cheese. In all honestly, the first three were very luxurious and classy. The mac and cheese was a fail. Perhaps the lobster mac and cheese is the way to go but one would be better off without the heavy coagulated cheese they use. Skip it and use the dollars for dessert instead. Dylan Prime does a sinful three chocolate bread pudding.

even if you are not a carnivore, this fun yet mysterious restaurant has so many delicious and decadent side dishes, you will be spoiled for choice. a great place for a big party to enjoy a boozy dinner with the quite reasonably priced magnums of wine on offer.

This is a good, new-school steak house. Hip and modern and worth the trek down to TriBeCa. Could be good for a family gathering, a group of friends, or a 1 on 1 situation. Great neighborhood to cruise through after the meal.

still my number one favorite new york steakhouse. a little more romantic and a lot easier to get into than the big places. the fondue appetizer is not to be missed!

trendy steak is always a dangerous proposition. dylan does a decent job pulling it off, though some of the other options on the menu are actually much better than the steak itself. attitude of the servers can sometimes be unfortunate.

Service could be nicer in particular the hostess. That said food is good but had better steak in nyc. Very out of the way to get there unless you live in tribeca.
