Modesto’s go-to for dim sum, with order-by-sheet favorites like siu mai, rice noodle rolls, and custard buns alongside Cantonese family plates. Longstanding, family-run energy and steady crowds on weekends tell you locals rely on it.

Easily one of my families favorite Dim Sum restaurants. The food is authentic and delicious, make sure to get there early to order Dim Sum they sell out fast. The BBQ pork buns and custard buns are to die for! If your in the mood for something spicy order the hot and sour soup it's the best in town. The staff are always super friendly and attentive. Five stars!!!

Google
Honey walnut shrimp offers a delightful balance of sweet and savory flavors, with a satisfying crunch from the nuts. The tender shrimp, coated in a rich, creamy sauce, creates a truly memorable dish. Mongolian lamb presents a bold and aromatic experience, with succulent pieces of meat expertly prepared. The savory spices and tender texture of the lamb make it a standout culinary choice. Both dishes are highly recommended for their exceptional taste and quality. Must choose these 2 items from Dynasty!!!!

Man, this is rough because this restaurant is owned by one of the sweetest families in town. But guys you have got to ease up on the garlic. My goodness is it overdone in the Chicken and Vegetables. I was craving chinese food today and thought to myself, I haven't been to Dynasty in forever. Well, as soon as I got home and opened up my meal, I remembered why. Please note, I love garlic, but garlic should not be the only thing you taste. It should accentuate the meats and vegetables in the dish not completely overpower it. I am far from the restaurant so I did not want to go back in, but I did just spend fifteen minutes rinsing all of the chicken and vegetables, and then straining the sauce through a fine strainer. There were FOUR TABLESPOONS of garlic in a single dish...TBSP not TSP. Honestly it looks like "jarlic", so maybe that's why they're so heavy handed with it. Unfortunately, I won't be back.

Google
The food was excellent—fresh, hot, and full of flavor. As many others have mentioned, the portions are very generous and well worth the price. My order was ready right on time for pickup, and the staff member who brought it out was friendly and welcoming. Overall, a great experience!

Google
I wish I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars. We had such a great experience here. From the host at the door to the servers who were checking in on us, all provided amazing service. They have a huge menu where so we tried a variety of dishes. I wish I took more photos. Everything we tried was delicious and you can tell they use good quality ingredients. The ambience is very homey I will definitely be back soon with the rest of my family. The portions are big and their prices are great!

Google
Wonderful & Friendly staff took our family of 4 out for dinner so glad we did The Walnut shrimp that we get from other places is usually too rich. We can never finish it. This was hands-down, the best Walnut shrimp we’ve ever had orange chicken was on Hit chow mein rice all of it wonderful thanks for a great experience and great service. We will definitely be back.

Google
Love this place. Always get the family dinner A. Great price for all the food you get. The pot stickers here are amazing.

Google
This used to be our favorite restaurant in town within the last yr or 2 the food doesnt taste the same as it used too. Recently we did two delivery orders once hot n sour soup and Szechuan eggplant tofu both were terrible the soup smelt stale and the Szechuan eggplant was drenched in sauce eggplant wasnt even cooked my mom had to salvaged some of it and re make it. Take out is supposed to be avoiding cooking at home. Second time recently we ordered hot and sour soup again to give it a chance and lunch shrimp and rice asked for no onions on the shrimp it was filled of onions. We definitely miss the old service n food it once was. Who knows if we will return or order again.

Yelp
Had their HK pan fried noodles and it was delicious. Combo proteins of beef, pork, chicken and shrimp with bok choy, sugar peas and carrots. Look forward to trying other options on the menu.

Yelp
First time reviewing Dynasty Garden but been going here since they first opened 20 yrs ago. This is the place if you are craving for dim sum and don't want to drive to the Bay Area. Took my staff here and for 2 of them, it was their first time trying this Chinese place. Ordered on the dim sum menu- pork shu mai, shrimp dumpling, steamed pork bun. Since we did family style, I ordered for everyone but gave them option to choose an entree. Sizzling rice soup - staff loved it, simple ingredients of bok Choy, chicken , shrimp and crackling rice that's put on the soup at the table. 5 stars Mongolian beef - favorite for the first timers. One staff said she liked the taste and the crispy won ton. 5 stars. Pan fried - Hong Kong style chow mein - basically the noodles is toasted and crispy and the sauce with the meats (chicken beef shrimp) with bok choy is placed on top! I always get this and i recommend peeps to try it! My staff loved it. 5 stars Pork fried rice - usually I like the pink bbq pork style fried rice but this isn't bad. Not a lot of veggies so not colorful. 4 stars Garlic chicken- pretty good: lots of onions. Doesn't seem that garlicky to me. 4 stars Hot spicy string beans- needed some greens and this is pretty crunchy and tasty. 5 stars Service- lots of peeps working. When you ask boxes to go, they give you it but don't put the food for you. 4 stars Overall, good place to sit down and have dim sum or order Chinese food. Popular place for Togo orders

Yelp
Both times I had absolutely horrible customer service! I ordered enough food for at least 2 to 4 people. Yeah, I was by myself. And uh, I never saw my waitress again after my food was dropped off. Nor did I see anybody or have anyone come by the table to ask me, how was I doing? Did I need a refill on my drinks, did I need anything? Absolutely no customer service.! ve eatwn here twice in the last two weeks ; first time, two hours before closing and the second time today, at one thirty in the afternoon. Both times I found the service absolutely lacking. Both times while I was eating my food, I had to tolerate an electric vacuum, stirring up the dust right next to where I was eating... both times when I was done eating, I had wait staff. That placed the to go containers down on the table and walkes away before I could ask a question.. Yet i noticed that all the other customers, both males and females. Their leftovers worked gladly placed in the to go containers by staff without hesitating. Both times I ordered water to drink with my meals. Because I don't like sodas. I don't like the sugar and I didn't want hot tea. I want to I asked water because I was dehydrated yet my glasses we're only filled one time, and that was when they brought them to me. Once my glass was empty, my water was never refilled and no one stopped to ask me how my dinner was, or if I needed anything. Both times I had decent sized orders and I would have had no problem, leaving the correct tip. However, if you're going to say that you're open for business and then ignore me.Why should I leave a big tip?

Yelp
Last review was 10 years ago. Still our favorite restaurant for Chinese n such a beautiful family that runs it!! Food is consistent, taste good & fresh. Portions are a good size. Family that runs the business remembers you when you walk in. Very friendly. Food is delicious. We sometimes show up at eight they close at 8:30 so we'll call ahead and place our order when we come in food is ready for us waiting on our table piping hot. Ask for their special sauce. They make their own hot sauce and a chili oil. So good!!
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
Their portion sizes are very good. Very flavorful food as well. Would definitely recommend anytime

Carol B.

Yelp
The food is always delicious. I had the Prawns Dynasty from their lunch menu and an ordered of potstickers. Then I had dessert ....Yummy...great service and friendly staff.

Yelp
We had the evening off from the kids and asked ourselves where should we go, dynasty garden was the only answer. This place is sooo relaxing, on top of that the food is delicious, the service is amazing. Everyone is so kind. The prices are wonderful for the amount of food you get ! This is our FAVORITE Asian food spot ! We've been coming here for years now idk how I haven't written a review
google avatar

Sara D.

Yelp
They have pretty good din sum it's the closest we will get in Central Valley since we don't have a Din Tai Fung here
google avatar

Michele F.

Yelp
Hubby brought us here for their Dim Sum, we ordered 3 orders of chicken feet!!!I love them!! Service was top notch, food was outstanding, we will be back!!!!
google avatar

Philip L.

Yelp
The restaurant has been there for years. It looked dingy and didn't have a very clean feeling or atmosphere. Disappointed. They used to have great food too, and reasonable prices. Not any more. We ordered the Dim Sum and it was sub-par. It wasn't like the old days years ago before covid. And the hot chili oil that I used to like a lot, this looked like it was 6 months old, or older. Old!! The color of good chili oil should be dark red with a glossy shine on the surface, not washed out color looking more brown and with no glossy appearance. Wow! So disappointing. Be advised that they will add a fee to your bill when using plastic debit or credit cards. Cash only if you want to save yourself the fee. While I find it nice they accept cash, because many merchants these days aren't, the reason is veiled in not needing to admit to the fee. Their reason for higher menu pricing is higher cost of living and price of food during these times. Kind of felt more like greed. Their prices are higher than I've ever seen them. Not going there anymore. Bye-bye "Dynasty Garden". Other Asian restaurants have way better food. Go to them. You'll be better off.

Yelp
Sunday morning came in right when it was opened at 11am with a party of 4. Got seated . Gave menu to write down what we want for dim sum. Asked for tea ($1 charge per cup). ALL were delicious: Chicken feet Shrimp and pork dumplings Deep fried sticky rice dumplings Beef tripe Har gao Pan fried chives Sticky rice Stuff crab claws Will come back here if I crave for dim sum

Yelp
Dynasty isn't the restaurant of three years ago!! Very Disappointed! I ordered the Pork Fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mien and Pot Stickers. I've never eaten such TERRIBLE FOOD BEFORE! The Chow Mien was undercooked, very little chicken and slimy! Disgusting! The Pork Fried Rice was overcooked, no flavor at all. The Pot Stickers were mediocre at best! I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EAT THERE AGAIN! I wish I can get my 35 bucks back!

Michael B.

Yelp
Best Chinese food and customer service in the Modesto area. Potstickers , lemon and orange chicken are fantastic. They are especially great on customer service and the restaurant is always clean and tastily decorated

Farah G.

Yelp
Seriously, this is the BEST Chinese food I've ever had! I've been to a ton of Chinese restaurants, but this place in Modesto is on another level. The flavors are so authentic and fresh, and everything is cooked perfectly. The service was also amazing; super friendly and attentive. If you're in Modesto and craving Chinese, you HAVE to try this place!

Nicole F.

Yelp
Love their chow fun. But most recently found out they make moo shu pork. Been craving it and it did not disappoint.

Yelp
My oldie but goody go to place. Dine is clean, nice and friendly. My kids love eating here. They are picky. Food is always fresh and hot. Eaten here for over 13 years. I recommend this restaurant.

Stephanie P.

Yelp
Extensive menu and consistent quality dishes! Variety in specials is on point. Service is always pleasant.

Yelp
Love, Love, Loveee their food! I'm originally from the Portland, Or. area so it's hard to compare apples and oranges but this was a true treat! The dim sum makes my heart melt!!! Owner is always very friendly...only cons would be is that the dim sum comes out slowly and only one dish at a time...

Yelp
All the way bad. Their restaurant is too pricey in my opinion I'm from out of town visiting my sister and we went here to try their roasted duck. They are charging $35 for half and when it arrive it looks like malnourished duck, taste was ok not the best but not bad either. We ordered a garlic seabass fish which is $40, hong kong style noodles, fried rice, chicken wings and hot and sour. Every meal comes out every 10-15 minutes which wasn't really ideal for us. 1st food that came out was hot and sour soup. It was ok not the best, I've had better somewhere else 2. Roasted duct 3. Fried Rice By the time the seabass came out we were already full and done by waiting too long. I'm not sure why the appetizer chicken wings came out last. When paid using my debit card looking at my check I see this admin fee $4.99 which was not mention to me. I asked what it was and was told that they charge you $4.99 if you use debit or credit. The lady stated that it's posted outside but I looked and there's no posting about it anywhere. I don't mind paying it but it would've been nice to get a heads up as I would've just paid cash.

Yelp
To start with, my wife and I were seated at a table about five feet long and because of the layout of the room we had to sit at opposite ends of the table, which was weird. I have to admit the staff was not friendly, but not in a rude way. I had chicken chow mein and sweet & sour chicken, and both came in large portions and were fresh and very tasty. My wife had a beef dish with dumplings which she liked fine. We ordered egg rolls, but found them small and mediocre, very inferior to those at Lee's Chinese Kitchen over on McHenry. And this restaurant didn't have yellow Chinese mustard, which we found amazing. We took a large box of leftovers home and would say we got a lot of very good food for our money.

Yelp
The food was fresh , nice atmosphere, service good , but no senior citizens discount.

Yelp
Ordered chicken chow mein and was very disappointed it was a half a plate and cost almost 13 dollars

Yelp
I came here recently after my last visit which was sometime during the pandemic. What I loved before was they would give these huge portions for a good price! Now with inflation, it seems like the portion size has decreased. I got the cream cheese wontons and the filling was skimpy. Some had no cream cheese :( Next it was the shrimp fried rice, veggie chow mien and the Kung pao chicken. The shrimp tasted a little bland but the chow mien was great. I love adding chili oil to it and it tasted great. The Kung Pao, I feel like it could have been a little more spicer but overall it wasn't bad. Service is fine. They do refill on drinks. I was super stoked when I was given a calendar year for next year! Heck yes haha Other than, it was ok. Feel like Dynasty was bomb af in the days before Covid though.

Yelp
For this small town of Modesto, this is the only and best dim-sum place you will find locally for now, unless you would rather drive an hour or so to other/better places out-of-town (Stockton, Sacramento, Bay Areas, etc.). LOCATION: In a corner plaza with Plenty of parking spaces! Clean and cozy looking interior. STAFFS: Friendly and accommodating! FOOD: Basic and very limited dim-sum items (as shown in attached photos). Do not have specialty items like most other dim-sums places. Also, took a while for order to come. Due to the limited items, I ordered only 4 dim-sum items found to my liking and had to wait quite a while for each to come. Taste was good. PRICE: not high nor low (middle range)

Yelp
Great Chinese food and dim sum. The mushu is amazing and the server makes them just perfect. The pot stickers are high on my list to order also

Melodee N.

Yelp
Went here for my daughter's birthday. She loves dumplings and Chinese food so we had heard about this place and wanted to check it out. First I would just like to ask why is this the only restaurant in Modesto that does dumplings? it was awesome! Great time very friendly and quick. I was so excited to get all the food and try it out that we were not able to take pictures. Definitely going to be added as a family spot to go. The inside is old school and the have the spinners on top which is convenient when you have a large group. One last thing for the amount of food and for five people and with the way the price of food is now you definitely want to come here. We had four big sides and tried about five different clusters of buns and dumplings and drinks only for 100 bucks! You can't beat that with a stick!!! Definitely worth a try my family and I definitely enjoyed our experience hope you do too!!!!
google avatar

Autumn L.

Yelp
Not very many places to eat dim sum over here in Modesto, so I don't expect too much from it. Decent place Chinese/dim sum food. Sometimes they don't have chili oil though sadly. However my favorite from here is the bbq steam pork bun!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
We have only done takeout and delivery from this restaurant and have had a great experience. They are the one place right now we could find a peaking duck! Their service is quick and the food is delicious with plenty of variety of dishes. Couple of our favorite dishes is the Mongolian lamb or beef if you like spicy. I also liked the chicken or shrimp in black bean sauce.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
The food here is delicious! My first time dining here was around 2010. Food has always been good... BUT..... they have the worst customer service. They are rude. I went last night 6-26-2024. At 730pm. We called before getting there to ask what time they close. The lady confirmed 830 although google stated 8, so we went. Our food arrived a little before 8. Without exaggerating the waiter came every 2 minutes to ask if we needed a box. As we are enjoying our delicious meal. He was doing that to a couple next to us that got there after us. Just every time I go they just lack manners when we spend our money there. I might just do take out from now on. Way too rude every time! 1 star for horrible service

Yelp
I am not a local of Modesto, nor ever came to Modesto prior to this visit to Dynasty Garden. As a Las Vegas local, our Chinese food scene is absolutely mediocre. We have some restaurants that are definitely ok, but not AMAZING. I will be honest, I had little to no expectations of Dynasty Garden prior to arrival. We only chose to come here due to the fact that nobody else around the city of Modesto had salt and pepper pork chops or stir-fried green beans. Simply put, if you are strictly looking for TERRIFIC salt and pepper pork chops or stir-fried green beans, Dynasty Garden is the place to be. It is very rare to find a Chinese restaurant able to successfully cater to the general public and specifically Chinese folks wanting authentic Chinese food. The salt and pepper pork chops were so soft, and the batter coating the pork chops were so, so light, almost like tempura. There was flavor in every bite of the pork, and it went so well with the white rice. The stir-fried green beans are perfect. If you've ever had stir-fried green beans, they usually end up being too crunchy and not cooked long enough, or too soft and cooked for too long. Here at Dynasty Garden, the green beans are cooked just long enough that it is somehow soft and crunchy at the same time. This is actually quite difficult to describe, and you must definitely come and try it out. On the other hand, if you've never had stir-fried green beans, do try it here. Now the Mapo Tofu was just ok, you don't get the more authentic side, you get the more watered down side of Chinese food here. The tofu was just ok, and didn't have that hot peppery flavor you would want. The Xiao Long Bao were more like meat dumplings. It comes with 4, and normally a lot of juice inside surrounding the meat. In this case, the meat dumplings inside the outer layer were more like delicious meatballs. The flavor is definitely there and delicious, but I wouldn't call this Xiao Long Bao, as it didn't have the traditional juicy explosion of flavor. Overall, do come to Dynasty Garden for some really good Chinese food.

Jake G.

Yelp
Food here awesome and quality they serve it hot. I love food here perfect so yummy and good price.
google avatar

Brends J.

Yelp
Eat here about once per month. Food is pretty good. Always busy. Both in restaurant and take out. My husband and I typically order the same items which are Hong Kong fried rice and spicy green beans. We always add an additional dish. Service is good and prices are reasonable.
google avatar

Alwyn B.

Yelp
Place has gon downhill within the last 5 years. I've been going to this restaurant since I was a child. I got plenty of good memories with my family here. Just sucks to see it die slowly. Hope they get a new staff cuz the customer service is sucks. Only one person knows how to give good customer service, the rest are just there to make a dollar seems like. Don't waste money here. Go somewhere else.

Loretta S.

Yelp
Food had no flavor has to put soy sauce on everything The house chicken was good but the honey walnut shrimp was a very small dish with barely any walnuts and was $79 for 3 people

Dorcas C.

Yelp
We visit our family here in Modesto at least once or twice a month They always either order or we eat there my favorite is their vegetable egg foo young. They make it better than my favorite Chinese restaurant near or far.

Les T.

Yelp
Came to this place for dim sum last Saturday and after wait for almost 20 mins (after the waiter came and gave a menu without saying anything and left). He just greeting and serving the people came after and sit behind us. We end up had to leaved be cause after 20 mins no one came to order nor bring any water. We will go to Stockton for dim sum from now on. Very selective and bad service.
google avatar

Sabrina S.

Yelp
Don't do it. This place is a ripoff.!!! They changed their noodles to spaghetti noodles in their chow mien, very little chicken, and they changed the portion size on the chicken chow mein too. I called to ask a question about their chicken chow mein noodles. Be- we noticed the difference right away. The lady that answered the phone acted dumb like she didn't know what I was talking about, and blamed it on the kitchen and hung up on me. I guess she thought she was putting me on hold. I called back and spoke to a man and he said yes we changed our chow mein noodles to dry noodles. If they're " NOT " going to be consistent, we would rather order from Panda Express. Too many ripoff changes. I spent $69, for us to be disappointed. Never again we're done with this place.!!!

Jen M.

Yelp
DoorDash was not a problem. I had heard this place was amaz balls. Ordered hot and sour soup that tasted like soy sauce water. Chow mein was starchy and sticky like maybe it hadn't been heated? Mango chicken was really unfresh, not sure how to describe. Won't try again. Ordered East China, much much better!!
google avatar

Anna S.

Yelp
I absolutely loved this place. Super authentic, delicious food. Amazing service. Very reasonably priced. We got cream cheese Rangoons, bao, sweet and sour pork, noodles with plum sauce, and broccoli (and a bottle of good wine). All the entrees were delicious. It's family style with very generous portions. The meat was amazing and really tender.

Monserat C.

Yelp
Food is so good and staff is always patient and nice. Our family loves coming here to eat.
google avatar

Jonathan V.

Yelp
I've dined in this restaurant a handful of times, they have the best sweet and sour pork I've ever tasted (I've tried a lot) the lunch specials are such a good deal can get a plate of food with chow mein for around 11-12$ the servers working here are accommodating.
google avatar

Andrea F.

Yelp
I love this place for dim sum! Sometimes they don't have all the option available but every-time I go I am satisfied. Some things I recommend for first time dim sum goers are the lotus wrapped sticky rice as it has some pork and chinese sausage. The Shanghainese pork dumplings are delicious. As well as the pan-fried dumplings! On sundays they can tend to get really busy but they offer dim sum everyday!

Yelp
My siblings and I met here today for my father's birthday. My dad and I from Calaveras County and my siblings and their families from Los gatos. It was well worth the 1.5 hour drive for all of us. Our party of 9 was welcomed warmly and seated immediately. We had a large selection of dim sum and some items from the regular menu. All are delicious. When they found out we were there for his birthday, they brought out a special dessert and took pictures of the whole family for us. Definitely recommend.

edward p.

Yelp
Place is really good. Service is good. Dim sum excellent. Best of all, Steven really makes sure we have a great experience every-time. I strongly recommend this restaurant. If you enjoy Chinese food, this in my opinion is one of the better places to enjoy.
google avatar

Nathan W.

Yelp
Good food, great Dim Sum, place could use a good cleaning but everything else is good

Sandy M.

Yelp
We ordered some dim sum, chow mein and chow fun. The food tasted good but took forever to come out. When we were almost done eating, my granddaughter said she wanted to eat some steamed rice. I asked one of the workers to bring me a small bowl and she came out with a container that had maybe four bowls worth. When I got the bill, they charged me $8.80 for the rice - ridiculous!! When I complained about it, the worker told me I should have asked for a cup of rice, not a bowl (grrr!). In addition, they added an extra charge for using a credit card. Just be aware of what they're charging you.
