SF Brewery Ordered to Stop Cannabis Beer Production - Eater SF

"E & O Kitchen is getting granular about its ingredients, devoting each of the next few months to a single spice. Executive chef Sharon Nahm and chef de cuisine Michael Siegel have menus this month devoted to Szechuan peppercorns — serving an entree of Szechuan chicken wings, a dessert of dark chocolate and hazelnut Szechuan peppercorn Truffles, and even a cocktail with peppercorns. Next month is turmeric, followed by star anise in July, and cardamom in August." - Caleb Pershan

I visited this place to attend a work event, so this isn’t a full restaurant review, but more of a reflection on their event-hosting experience. The party was held upstairs, hosted by one of our partners. The space was lively and packed with people. I headed to the bar and asked the bartender for a recommendation—he seemed knowledgeable and helped me pick out a wine that turned out to be decent. As for the food, a variety of appetizers and snacks were laid out, mostly Asian fusion in style. Unfortunately, by the time I got to them, many of the items had gone cold, which was disappointing. In a well-run restaurant, I would expect food to be kept warm or replenished regularly during an event. That said, the shiitake mushroom dumplings were a highlight—flavorful and well-made. Some of the other offerings were just okay. Another issue was the lack of serving utensils—there weren’t enough spoons or tongs, which made the buffet setup feel a bit unorganized. The staff also didn’t replenish the food quickly, which further impacted the experience. Overall, while the food quality seemed promising, the event service felt a bit underwhelming. I’d still be curious to return for a regular dining experience, as I believe the kitchen has potential.

I have been eating at E&O for several occasions, but have not written a review (and is long overdue). I recently had a group lunch, and we sat at the long table near the front entrance window. Our male server was efficient, attentive and focused our group needs. We ordered and shared various dishes: - Spring Rolls (3 long pieces) - Indonesian Corn Fritters (5 pieces) served with sweet chili soy sauce, one of my co-workers favored. - Green Curry Chicken with green beans: thick curry paste and more spicy (even though it has coconut milk). It was more spicy than I would like. - Dumpings: I personally preferred Shiitake Mushroom Dumplings over Butternut Squash Dumplings, both have 5 pieces. We also tried three desserts: - Brown Butter Coconut “B’ingka” ($12.00): Philippine dessert cake bibingka tasted little dry. - Ginger Spiced Cookies ($11.00 for 4 pieces): simple but delicious - Pineapple Coconut Cake ($13.00): Though relatively small, I liked it as it was balance with pineapple jam with coconut cream cheese. We will be back.

Our journey to The Philippine Consulate General led us to the delightful E & O Kitchen and Bar many years ago, and we’ve been hooked ever since! The flavors and aromas have remained consistently amazing, if not even better. Plus, the service is impressively quick, and the staff are warm and friendly, making every visit feel special. I wholeheartedly recommend E & O Kitchen and Bar – it’s an experience you absolutely don’t want to miss!

Fried rice are full of flavors but not salty, steak satay was so good, dumpling is also interesting as well as the corn fritters.

Google
Food was delicious. Friend and I split the butternut squash dumplings, brussel sprouts, and the indonesian fried rice. It was ~$65 and the portions were reasonable and we had leftovers. Service was fast and restaurant noise was mostly a dull hum but did have a few loud moments when it got busier. Will be back on my next visit for sure!

Google
Get the firecracker filet minon beef, it’s amazing. Also the drinks are great and the pineapple dessert cake was to die for. Hosted a small work dinner here and it did not disappoint. The only thing was that they didn’t have the pork buns but the service was otherwise great. We tried all the dumplings and they were all delicious.

Google
Wow! Come for happy hour. The food is amazing, and the staff and service is even better. Antonio was an exceptional server. I got the butternut squash dumplings, steamed pork buns, and fritter bites, as well as the Rickshaw Rita. Amazing. I will have to come back.

Google
E & O is always a good time! Warning: do NOT go here when you're hungry because you will be tempted to order the entire menu. Everything is THAT good! I've attended holiday parties here in the past but recently went for dinner with a friend and it was just as amazing, possibly more because I was actually able to sit and eat instead of socializing. The bartenders were all super sweet (we sat at the bar) and the hostess was extremely helpful in helping us navigate the restaurant (I was walking with a cane at the time). A must-have is the corn fritters for sure, I've never been disappointed with them. Or anything else on the menu for that matter. Other restaurants could learn a few things from E&O about customer service and quality. Not to mention the aesthetic is gorgeous!

Yelp
Came here for a team lunch on a weekday, very spacious place with ample seating and great location I found the menu very interesting featuring pan Asian dishes, we went for chicken lettuce cups, shrimp and chicken shumai, mushroom dumplings and katsu burger for entree Portion sizers were generous and very well presented, chicken lettuce cups lacked a bit of punch for me but overall good experience

Yelp
I can't believe this is my first review for E&O. We've been going to E&O for about 20 years. There was a short stint where they changed names but it was reopened right before the pandemic. This is our go to place in the city. They never let us down. Beautiful ambience. Great for special occasions or casual dining. I usually get a few repeat items and then a couple of new things. Our always items are: corn fritters, shiitake, mushroom dumplings, pineapple fried rice. The new items we tried: pork buns & tea deviled eggs. I love the corn fritters. They're crispy and they come with the perfect sauce. It's such a great starter. I'm a huge mushroom fan, so I try to get anything mushroom when I can. These dumplings are filled with mushrooms inside and come with some sliced shiitake mushrooms on the side in the sauce. We always get the pineapple fried rice, but they changed it up a bit. It is now curry pineapple fried rice, which made it even better. It's served in half of a pineapple. It's a great presentation. I am always leery about deviled eggs because I really like a traditional deviled egg that is slightly sweet. This changed my mind. It was awesome and has such a great flavor. This is now going to go on my normal menu. My husband loved the pork buns, they had a great traditional outside bun, with a lot of spice on the inside. Watch out for those peppers. Trust me. E&O is the place to go in the city.

Yelp
Highly recommend checking out their happy hour from 3-6pm. The vibes and ambiance here are perfect for groups. My coworkers and I came across this nearby our office and loved it! Their happy hour menu has great options that are shareable. We got a few items: - salt & pepper calamari: 4/5 - kamayan be happy hour platter: 4/5 - half dozen oysters: 4/5 Their drinks are also really good, good balance of flavor and alcohol. Def would come back to try out their other food and drink items!

Yelp
Very vegetarian friendly spot! We came on a weeknight and it wasn't super busy but so it was nice and comfortable to chat and eat! All the food was very flavorful, some highlights were the shiitake dumplings, the green beans, and the corn fritters.

Yelp
Original fares, unexpected cool setup that didn't look like anything from the street. We had three small plates to share and flavors were great. We didn't have any issue with service on a rather busy Wednesday dinner, the experience was actually pleasant. Given another trip to SF, I will try other items on the menu.

Yelp
First time in a loooong time (pre prep pre pre pandemic). In the neighborhood, during happy hour, so we gave it a go and we were extremely satisfied. Sat at the bar and met the wonderful and talented bartender, Sergio. He is a wonderful person, attentive, and skilled in his craft. We enjoyed the platter for two and a host of drinks. The ones that stood out were the pisco sour and my newly coined Sergio special which was the old fashion w/ suntory whiskey and a special maple syrup with an orange peel. The drink was smooth, bright, and refreshing. Happy hour was priced well and the food was visually pleasing, full of flavor, and of good portion. We were wonderfully satisfied and plan on coming back. A definite spot to check out.

Yelp
We chose this establishment as the dinner before we headed to the Curran to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on July 22nd, 2022. It was within walking distance of our hotel and the menu sounded fun and unique. Maybe it was the bubbling excitement for the show that overshadowed the experience, but I left feeling rather underwhelmed. The service was clunky and even though we made a reservation and arrived at a time when the place was pretty dead, we felt like an afterthought to our server. Since we had arrived early, we were in the happy hour time and many of the appetizers sounded great. I still wanted a meal, but my companion was happy to order a few apps and share. This was a fun choice. Overall, the food was tasty and lots of flair with sauces and garnishes, but the flavors didn't always pop.

Yelp
I don't know that I'd necessarily classify this as an Asian restaurant, but more like Asian-inspired. Went to Palette earlier in the day and I felt like that was more authentically Asian. Was not such a fan of where we were seated because it was cold and next to a couple sharing the bench side so right away, it was kind of awkward. They moved to be across from each other but then the man was loud in my ear and that was a bit of a downer until they finished and left. Food was great! Took leftovers back to the hotel and grazed on it until it was done by morning. Realized why I was craving the Brussels sprouts - the box had popped open and that's what I kept smelling. Yum. I liked that there was outdoor seating and heat lamps for people wanting to sit outside and/or be Covid-conscious. It was raining though, and even a bit cold when the staff propped open the door to bring things in. Not sure why the restaurant closes at 9 on a Saturday but the crowd did thin out so maybe it just doesn't get the late night traffic. I enjoyed it! Will be back with colleagues and other friends. Servers were very attentive!

Yelp
Quick overview: Food 4.5/5 Service 3.5/5 Drinks 4.5/5 This food is absolutely phenomenal. Some serious "kudos" to the chefs. Some of the highlights included delicious pork buns, amazing pineapple fried rice, and the Brussels sprouts were the best brussel sprouts any of us at the table have ever had! They were crispy but heavily marinated so they were softer but with extreme flavor! The fact that the pineapple curry fried rice comes in the pineapple was a great style choice and created an impressive factor. The naan had a delicious tomato chutney that I would eat on its own! Service was kind and courteous. There definitely needs to be some improvements here. Over the course of the meal we were missing 3 dishes (we had ordered 2 naan, one came on time the other one didn't come and we ended up getting is after we had finished with the entrees. Desert naan anyone?) We also ordered 6 steamed buns (got 5 and had to ask for the missing one) and same situation for a side order of rice. Our server was very slow and we never got a refill on waters except when the check came by that point it was too late. Only redeeming factor was the second Naan was taken off the bill since we didn't even get it until the end of the meal (although the bill wasn't itemized it just had the total so there was no way to verify this...) Drinks were great, the Japanese liquor was very smooth with great flavors. Word to the wise, none of our drinks were mixed (likely for presentation purposes so you could see the pretty layers) so definitely mix before drinking!) Venue was moderate noise, tables spaced apart nicely, we had a reservation but it seems that they seated people quickly

Yelp
The food and ambiance were great, but our waiter had a bit of an attitude. He rudely snatched the receipt out of my colleague's hand when we pointed out an error with the bill. Our meal was almost $300 but he only rang us up for $56. Should we have been dishonest and kept quiet?? The rudeness was uncalled for. We had a great time, in spite of the rude waiter. The lousy attitude definitely left a negative impact on this review!

Yelp
Went here for lunch with coworkers and was very impressed with the food and service. The Brussel sprouts and eggplant were top tier! The Indonesian fried rice was okay but overall food were delicious! The ambiance is very nice.

Yelp
Oh E&O, you bring back lots of memories. First place I went to when contemplating moving to San Jose back in 2005. This time we went back to the SF location (SJ location closed years ago.) I was just happy to see they survived after Covid. We went around 6 and sat at the bar. Happy hour menu still in place! Good deals! The bar seats were not as cute as I remembered and the interior design has been stripped of anything like it used to be- no asian flair (this is an Asian fusion restaurant, I thought.) stark tan chairs, like outdoor seating texture (plastic "weave") I missed the red and brown leather, huge square bar stools with no backs, asian writing on red banners, and asian artwork and associated tchotchke. It seemed very sterile this time. Bar was great service, good drinks, and the food was overall still good! We got the sampler platter which had a bit of everything and it did not disappoint. The corn fritters were smaller than what I remembered but still crunchy and filled with poppin' kernels. The pork belly "baos" were very good. Skip the beef entree- not worth it. The inconsistency of the meat texture was too bad, some bites were cut correctly and some were very tough. Service was on point and the food runners were friendly, jovial and hysterically funny with good banter. One star off for the rather sterile decor, akin to the most basic hotel bar ambiance. Where's the asian trading company motif? Thanks E&O for an easy first night of our weekend in SF.

Yelp
Terrible service. Didn't bring my food. Didn't care because gratuity was already included in the bill.

Yelp
Excellent food & service. We ordered about 10 items for 4 adults and two kids. Calm quiet ambiance. I should have brought crayons / coloring books for the kids. I would not bring kids w/o activities. All the food was very tasty. Quick service. We ordered garlic noodles, pork bao buns, spicy green beans, pad Thai, butternut squash dumplings, chicken & shrimp shu mai, chicken sate, a salad, noodles. Manhattan cocktails served w smoke. Delicious. Would return!

Yelp
Food is decent and prices are pretty standard. Started with this crunchy corn thing and some shrimp and meat dumplings. The fried corn bites were pretty bland and you needed to add sauce to it. Dumplings were good. For a main got Firecracker beef which was super tasty and tender - my only complaint is as an entree it does not come with a side order of rice. Which is a little disappointing to have to have a plus charge of white rice. Ordered a blonde ale and a cocktail which both were good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Spent around 70 with tip. Would probably look more like 50 if I opted out of the drinks.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for happy hour after hearing about it from a friend. I got the kimchi Bloody Mary which was awesome - I've never had this fusion type of Bloody Mary and I really loved how spicy it was and the deep gochujang flavor. It was also decently strong thanks to our gracious server :) My friend and I shared the happy hour platter which allowed us to try almost all the bites on the happy hour menu. I most liked the fritter and dumplings, everything else was good too. The interior reminded me of a swanky hotel and was fairly classy - perhaps not the best place to get rowdy but good for work happy hours .
google avatar

Trish C.

Yelp
I got here around their happy hour. It was a great deal so I ordered a bunch of different things to sample. I got the butternut squash dumplings, Indonesian fried rice, and corn fritters. Thoroughly enjoyed everything - especially the butternut squash dumpling and corn fritter. Kudos to the staff - all very friendly and attentive! Great place to meet with friends and hangout - fast service, great vibes + great food! Def worth checking out if you're in the area.
google avatar

Yelp
Great lively atmosphere for happy hour or a group dinner with a few drinks! We celebrated a birthday dinner here. I thought the food - Pad Thai, fried rice, etc. - was solid for an asian fusion restaurant with lots of lively atmosphere. The food and drinks were pricy and weren't all that unique. There's still lots of ample space and seating even with the lively, large bar space in the center.
google avatar

Ayall S.

Yelp
Overall good experience. Located downtown, large space with a terrific interior ambiance. Modern asian-food style joint; the food wasn't anything spectacular but wasn't bad either -- just "good." Service was also good, on par with what I'd expect for a place like this. A few call-outs; Ahi tartare was very good, recommend. Firecracker beef was just okay, wouldn't necessarily recommend. Tamarind hoisin glazed spareribs looked amazing, but were actually way too fatty and ended up not being good; I would recommend avoiding this this.

Yelp
My daughter selected this restaurant because it had very good reviews. When we arrived to it the restaurant was pretty much empty. One table was occupied. We of courses got a table immediately. The restaurant itself was very nice and modern. Clean from what I can see. We placed an order and wanted to make a change within just a few min... of a single happy hour pc of meat to a full sampler. Which in any case is to benefit of the restaurant a $2-$3 vs a $33 difference. However , the server was hesitant to make the change. I asked him again about it and he finally went to kitchen ( I guess to check if they started cooking the ONE single pc of meat we wanted to cancel) and came back and agreed to make the change. Food came out pretty fast . The food was overall good . We ordered the calamari, shrimp dumplings, sampler dish, cheeseburger, and jicama salad. Unfortunately this was the last time we saw a server. NOBODY came to offer a refill to our drinks or to see if we needed anything at all which in fact we did... what makes matters worst it there was plenty if staff just handing out.. standing there talking. By this time 1 other partiy had arrived and a new one was walking in. Clearly they were not "too busy" to not be able to stop and check needed anything or at least provide a water refill. For this reason I would not recommend this place and was truly disappointing considering the many reviews it had.

Yelp
An excellent happy hour menu in the City. We had $9 cocktails and I tried the rickshaw-rita. I especially enjoyed the basil sugar on the rim. We also split a half dozen oysters which came with lemon and red pepper vinaigrette. Add both onto an oyster for amazing flavor. The restaurant is decorated in Asian fusion and is a short walk from Chinatown. There were other drinks and food items on the happy hour menu I would happy to try next time I'm in town.
google avatar

Yelp
The last time we were here was before Covid, so my group wanted to find out whether they are still as good as we remember them to be. Came for Happy Hour but ended up having dinner instead. The ambiance was still good with comfortable seating. Gotta say we thought the food was even better than before. The service was fine and our waiter was very pleasant and polite. You must try their corn fritters! So good we ordered a second order. Definitely will return.

Yelp
Got the burger. Pricey but pretty good. Solid medium rare. Nice taste, good texture. Can tell they make the burger in house. Good caramelized onions and grilled pineapple with the burger. Fries were nicely seasoned. Came with some house made pickles. Normally don't like pickles unless they're freshly made in-house. Perfectly mildly sour and crunchy and fresh. Great side with the burger and fries. Friend got the salmon I'm which is topped on like a porridge (jook) style bowl. Looked good, warm, moist, tender and very homely meal it looked like . Corn fritters looked okay too but i didn't try it because my burger and fries were filling. Ambience is very dark like a bar/ bougie semi-fancy restaurant. Bathrooms are very clean and nice. Friendly staff. Only complaint is the prices are high but that's sf i guess . Overall was not disappointed but nothing amazing. Solid place to try with a friend or a date. The menu choices are pretty unique which is a plus.

Yelp
Connected with a few colleagues for dinner here. It had been many years since I had been here but I remembered that the service and food was really good. Well they did not disappoint. The service was really great and they took really good care of us. The food was as great as I remembered. It was late so we got a few dishes that we could share. We had the Naan with Minced Lamb, Salt and Pepper Calamari, Minced Chicken with Lettuce cups. Pad Thai (with Shrimp), Roasted Black Cod, and the Corn Fritter Bites. Everything was really great but the Roasted Black Cod, and the Corn Fritter Bites were the stars of the show. The atmosphere was great and the drinks were really good also. Next time I am in SF I will definitely will come back.

Yelp
I hate to say it but my dining experience here was underwhelming. E&O is a fine dining asian fusion spot with the expected dim lighting and tiny plates. I was a bit disappointed in the service we were delivered. When we first entered there was a friendly greeting from the host but this abruptly ended when greeted by the indifferent attitude of our server. I completely understand not exactly enjoying your work and that sometimes showing, but there were many times we felt neglected and had to flag someone down in a seemingly empty restaurant. We felt like we were burdening them by asking for more water, straws, or asking about the menu, which left a sizeable impression on most of us who were visiting this city for the first time. Our table ordered a number of shareables and were lucky enough to hit the happy hour around 5 on a Saturday night. The food was also just alright. Somewhat exploratory with mixing flavors but I would not say this was very Asian fusion. We had the Butternut Squash Dumplings (4/5) - The best thing we ordered. In my opinion, this felt more like a pierogi rather than dumpling since the skin was so thick. The marinade that it came in though was delicious Corn Fritters (1/5) - We tried this based on the reviews. It was overall very underwhelming. It was quite literally corn fried with butter which if this was your jam, I can see being fun but not worth the price it was listed. Shokupan Rolls (4/5) - The bread came out nice and moist. It was also delicious with the sauces they came served with. Kamayan Be Happy Hour Platter (3/5) - This was an assortment of the happy hour shareables. While fun, it kind of just gave us an idea how the rest of the food would be. I may be biased because I am not the biggest fan of Asian fusion, but I do believe that E&O played it very safe with these dishes (save for the dumplings). They were all somewhat interesting dishes with a mix of different Asian inspirations, but these were all well translated in the taste. This combined with the service brought my review to a 3. It is an experience with fine dining and I do think the presentation is nice, but the price point vs the flavor quality does not match up in my eyes.

Yelp
All the dishes tasted amazing, great interior, and super nice staff. Tamarind hoisin glazed spareribs - 4 stacks of ribs with side of coleslaw. Super flavorful and a lot of meat on the bones. It's seasoned with a savory Asian sauce, which I love way more than bbq sauce. Recommend getting rice with this, so it can soak up the sauce. My favorite out of the 3. Firecracker beef - stir fry with vegetables and cashews. Love how there are whole cashews in the dish! Every restaurants crushes them, which makes the flavor weak and have an awkward bitty crunch within the food; not a big fan. The cashew brought a lot of flavor and the beef had the perfect tenderness. Get this with rice so mix with the sauce. Indonesian corn fritters - better than I thought, and surprisingly the deep fry (I think) and the seasoning balances out the corn flavor, so corn is not the most prominent and obvious taste. I would get to try it, but I got sick of it after having one, probably since it's slightly oily. The serving size is big too with 5 pieces.

Yelp
It was a cool spot in downtown San Francisco. The food was good although the fritter burger was impossible to eat as a burger. It was much too tall. I ended up using a fork and knife. The bacon was also chewy. The spring roll and sauce were excellent! The service was lacking and the staff seemed confused about who was helping whom.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour for food and drink. I got an old fashioned and we tried the sampler platter, oysters, and calamari for food. Service was friendly and checked on us frequently. Drinks were good and food was delicious. The corn fritters were nice and crispy, the baos were soft and not too dry with juicy and tasty filling. The dumplings in the curry sauce were our favorite and got an additional order. I'd definitely come back to try other items from the menu and recommend to check out E&O.

Yelp
we tried this restaurant bec it was near where we parked. And we were so hungry that we got lazy to walk around. The food was okay not that great. The pad thai was too sweet for me, 3/10. Too tasty, we didn't finish it. We also tried the pork buns and egg drop wonton soup which were okay. Must try for me will be their satay steak bec it comes with veggies that is so good, i'll give that 7/10. Service was okay. The server was nice. Paid 91.46 for these.

Yelp
1 star for service, food was okay. We made a reservation and were seated in the dining area. We moved to the happy hour seating area since we wanted to order from that menu (host and servers helped us to the table). Towards the end of our meal (around 4:30pm) a different host comes up and let's us know the table we're seated at is reserved for 4:30pm. I let her know we didn't know that then she says we told you that when you were seated :) I said uh no, no one mentioned that at all. We're clearly still eating and we're celebrating a bday so I mentioned that but she still hovered around saying well who should I leave the check with? At that point we're kinda annoyed since it's an awkward situation so we agree to pay but it felt very rushed after that. I understand they had a reservation for that seat but it was the restaurant's fault for seating us and not communicating the table was reserved. Here are my rankings from most favorite to least favorite: 1) Butternut Squash Dumplings 2) Chicken Chow Mein 3) Salt & Pepper Calamari 4) Shiitake Mushroom Dumplings 5) Pad Thai 6) Hawker Breakfast 7) Indonesian Fried Rice 8) Chicken Lettuce Cups (SALTY AF) Food was good but not great. A cool take on traditional Asian dishes and a few unique items that I've never had (butternut squash dumplings were great).

Yelp
Came here for happy hour after work and it did not disappoint! My friend and I got the 1/2 dozen oysters and happy hour sampler platter and it was delicious. Everything tasted amazing and the happy hour prices were very worth it as well. Drinks were definitely on the stronger side, but no complaints of course. Service was good as well and we never had to flag down a waiter to ask for something. Definitely a huge restaurant but if you come in during their happy hours it's pretty empty and you can get away without making a reservation.

Yelp
Food is great. FAMOUS INDONESIAN CORN FRITTER BITES is a must-try. Satay is not impressive and kinda pricy - over $20 for only 3 pcs. Overall a great place for happy hour.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. Great ambiance for a romantic night with your partner. Food and quick service too. Everything we had was delicious. We got the beef noodles and it was amazing. Would Come here just for that. The butternut squash dumplings were amazing too. Oysters were delicious. My least favorite was the tuna tartare and shrimp and chicken dumplings but they were still good. Would highly recommend!

Yelp
Fantastic dining experience. Pad Thai with chicken, fried rice served in a pineapple, and the corn fritters were amazing. The drinks were stellar. Our server was great and gave us great tips on what to do on the way to and while at the Giants game. Would definitely visit again!

Yelp

Yelp
Stopped in with co workers to enjoy a happy hour vibe around 5pm. There was no seats around the bar so they sat us in the back and mentioned they had a reservation at the table. We asked for happy hour menu and then informed us we couldn't in the back. They kindly moved us outside. We ordered beverages and they took about 20 minutes to get to us. They forgot to put our food order in too! We wanted another round of drinks and had to beg the host to come take our order. Service could have been better. When we finally go our food it was great. The ribs were my favorite and the corn fritter bites. Overall food and drinks were great, service needs to improve.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday after work for happy hour - I would highly recommend for anyone looking to try this restaurant to first visit during happy hour as a lot of their appetizers are on the menu here as well Overall, the ambience is beautiful! I would recommend getting the gin and tonic drink - it is on the sweeter side and definitely not as strong as I would have hoped. The calamari was not bad as well, but if you do order, I highly suggest getting a side of spicy sauce as well.

Yelp
Ok, I was wrong. E&O isn't some tourist trap restaurant. I've always been suspicious of restaurants with too much space & extensive menus. It was raining, & just inside is a cute little lounge/waiting area. Thought I'd get something to go & sit a while nursing an iced tea. Friendly lady next to me says hi, & one hour later we're talking, having drinks & sharing appetizers. Second visit strictly to go, too shy to stay, third stay, a comfy booth & a selection of Asian fusion fun. Bring a paper map & fancy camera to blend in. Enjoy!

Yelp
E&O holds a special place in my heart - I find myself in the neighborhood every so often and because of its happy hour it's the first place that comes to mind. Seriously, there isn't a better happy hour program in the entire city. Let's talk about it. The environment is luscious and chic, very much so upscale but not pretentious. The service is attentive and friendly, while also knowledgeable of the menu and ingredients. Don't be afraid to ask for staff recommendations! The food. When I tell you that for 2 dollars per item, this happy hour goes unrivaled in the city. It may be the best kept secret. 9 dollar craft cocktails? Unheard of. You can catch these specials any day they are open from 3pm-6pm and I highly recommended doing so. While the dinner is elevated and worthy of a full price point, this happy hour has me coming back once a week. Also, not that it matters, but anthony bourdaine reviewed this place and was equally as blown away as I think most patrons are by how well E&O delivers both quality and quantity.

Yelp
Who doesn't love a good happy hour? After a month of working through what seemed like the longest month ever, the girls and I decided to end our meeting at E&O Kitchen and Bar. I was able to make a reservation for (9) 2 days prior and they shared the cancellation policy which I believe was $25/person. We arrived almost an hour late due to our meeting going over but they were still accommodating and had a table saved for us. We ordered a ton of sharing dishes such as the fritters, salt & pepper calamari, and the steamed pork buns. There's definitely flavor there but this was slightly a miss for me. The calamari (which is always a big hit with me regardless of the establishment) hit different. To me, the food was alright. The drinks were beautiful and the service was good. Next time I want to try actually grabbing some of the bigger plates over the small ones and of course, enjoy a drink or two. I finished the Thai tea so quickly.

Yelp
Came here for dinner! Parking in sf is always difficult so look out for parallel parking lol Made a reservation, which I would recommend to make sure no waiting. They have a great selection of drinks (cocktails, beers, sake, non alcoholic beverages) We ordered the Indonesian fried rice (slightly oily and buttery in my opinion, but very flavorful and tasty). We also tried the dry fried green beans (very standard Chinese dish; slightly salty for my preference), tamarind hoisin glazed spare ribs (super good, fall off bone meat!) with a delicious side of slaw (super crunch and refreshing to lighten up the heavy meal) Loved the ambiance!

Yelp
Always my go to place when I'm done shopping in nearby Union Square. They have a great daily happy hour menu and the bartenders always provide great service.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Saturday night dinner with friends! Overall decent place to eat - some creative takes on Asian fusion. I enjoyed the inside decor and ambience as well! Orders: - Ahi Tuna Tartare: Appetizer. Friend enjoyed it. Came with some big black sesame rice crackers that were interesting to eat with - Chicken Satay: Would recommend as well - Chicken Katsu Sandwich: Surprisingly it came with buns instead of traditional Japanese milk bread. It was still very good! I really liked the sides (pickled vegetables, root vegetable chips) - delicious!! - Sanshool Pavlova: Interesting flavor and texture as a dessert. Might not be my style though. Would come again for a dinner with a group of friends.

Yelp
Couldn't decide where to go while here for work and ended up here since I had visited before years ago. Will not forget the beef and broccoli noodles or the butternut squash dumplings. Stand out options! I'd skip the edamame next time and try something new.

Yelp
A great find for happy hour in the city :) The ceilings are elevated and the decor is fit for celebratory meals or a good excuse to dress up. The happy hour platter is so worth it, and lets you try all of their most popular dishes. My favorites are the rice and corn fritters.

Yelp
On the pricey side for Chinese food but definitely more of an upscale white table cloth experience. The interior is quite nice. Dishes are beautifully presented and tasty. Wait staff are attentive. Nice place to bring someone special for a meal followed by some nearby shopping at Union Square. Garage and street parking available.

Yelp
My sister and I came on a Saturday afternoon and was told the wait would be about 15 minutes long. We luckily got seated a bit earlier and the host told us in advance that there may be a wait for the food since they were a bit packed today (we didn't think the wait was long at all). He took us to our table and was such a gentleman since he pulled the seats out for us. - Famous Indonesian Corn Fritter Bites: One of their most popular dishes that tastes just how it looks. It's fried, crispy, and had a good flavor and seasoning to it. However, both me and my sister got tired of eating it. It basically tasted like airy fried flour with a hint of corn. It's not a bad dish and it's worth a try since that's what they're famous for, but it wasn't our favorite dish. 3/5. FYI, it comes in 5 huge chonkers lol. - Tamarind Hoisin Glazed Spareribs: My sister's favorite dish. It came with 4 ribs and a citrus coleslaw, which I didn't try, but my sister did and she was not a fan of it. While she thought the meat was well seasoned, I thought it was slightly salty. However, the flavoring was still delicious and the meat was very tender. 4.5/5. - Firecracker Beef: My favorite dish. It kind of reminds me of the Vietnamese shaken beef. The meat was cooked to a perfect medium and they also had whole cashews in the dish. I would have preferred crushed cashews, but my sister liked the whole pieces, so it's up to personal preference. Overall, 5/5. - Steamed Brown Rice: Simple brown rice that wasn't too dry. 4/5. Our waiter was super sweet and friendly as we had a few small, funny conversations about the famous dishes they served. It did take awhile for someone to get us the bill, but once someone came by, we quickly paid on the card swipe machine they had in their pockets. Also, the kitchen was in the open at the back, so it was cool to watch the chefs. We also used the women's bathroom, which was located downstairs at the front of the restaurant. The sinks weren't touchless, but the bathroom looked VERY nice and was decently clean.
