Ferndale’s Double EE Restaurant Will Reopen as Earl’s Diner | Eater Detroit

"A new diner under different ownership is set to replace the shuttered spot in the same building; owner Gino Zoto plans to reopen the location in October, rehire many former employees, and offer a menu similar to the previous greasy spoon. The forthcoming name is a nod to Zoto’s father, Earl Owens (who owns Telway Hamburger System), and the change follows the lease nonrenewal that prompted the earlier closure." - Brenna Houck

If traveling, get off the beaten path. This is a wonderful locally owned café. It looks a little iffy on the outside, but walk through the door and it is extremely clean, the staff is phenomenal and the food is delicious. It will be my stop for breakfast or lunch everytime I drive through Popular Bluff.

I have to say Earls is my Favorite place to eat out at . I have always enjoyed eating there with my mother and or my daughter. For one the cost for eating out doesn't completely break the bank at Earls, Considering the outrageous prices these days, Also, there portion sizes will definately have you leaving stuffed. The service is always excellent. Unfortunately I'm not financially able to frequent Earls quite like I was even a year ago. But when I do the ladies always fixes me a sweet tea to go by time I leave. Thank you Earls.😀

The Hillbilly Hash and it was quite good. The place quite cozy and clean. Our server was very friendly and I enjoy our interaction with her.

Hillbilly hash was excellent! Biscuits and gravy were a little undercooked. Extra crispy bacon was delicious and very crispy. French toast was very good, but also very sweet. Service was excellent. Definitely a great local hangout, with great food and atmosphere.

Place has really nice food, I ordered bologna and cheese with Hasbrowns ever. I loved the bologna too but didn't expect it to be thick. The atmosphere is very crowded feeling however and but they are just working with what they got. The staff are very nice and gave me a refill without me even asking! Thank you guys for a nice time!!!!

A great hometown diner. A staple for this area. Delicious home cooked favorites served in great portions. The staff is always helpful, friendly, and eager to serve. Their pancakes are the best I've had in town.

Earl's is a great little place to eat, great food and service. My wife had the fried chicken which was excellent and I had 2 eggs, sausage, hashbrowns and a biscuit with sausage gravy all for about $8! The eggs were cooked just as I requested and the hashbrowns were golden brown and crunchy outside yet tender inside. Food of this quality at these prices is rare. Well worth your time!

Very good old style diner. Very good food and it’s got a classic feel. Definitely lots of locals here as well.
