Where to Eat on Old South Pearl Street | Eater Denver

"At the end of 2016, Gaia Bistro closed its doors, and made room for Yard Bird (now just Bird), which serves creative comfort food. The menu provides three square meals including pot pies, meatloaf and garlic mashers, and fried chicken, as well as Benedicts and waffles." - Gigi Sukin

We live within walking distance of Early Bird, so it’s become our go-to spot for breakfast. The tacos are my absolute favorite—I find myself ordering them again and again. The latte always arrives piping hot in a wonderfully oversized cup. The kids love the loaded waffles, and honestly, they’re a dream come true for anyone ready to indulge in something sweet. Service has consistently been excellent—everyone is friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is pleasant overall. I do wish the patio looked a bit more inviting, but I understand there are limits to what can be done with the space.

Food was pretty good and filling a really good choice for something quick and easy! The service was great and the outdoor seating was very nice! The staff even helped to make sure the sun wasn’t in my face! I got the classic American with French toast and scrambled eggs.

Oh my goodness, this food is incredible!! I had to write a review before I even finished my brunch. The crispy chicken is perfect. The eggs are fluffy. The Brussels sprouts are delicious. And this as a takeout meal, I have to imagine it’s even better fresh out the kitchen!!

We loved our experience here. Thanks to Zindy for an awesome first experience. Awesome service. They have an outside area for warmer days, a small bar area that is cool, some nice merchandise, and fun dance music in the background. I was between the La Jefa and Landmark and got the La Jefa. Unique and delicious. Waffles, corn, egg, etc. I decided to not do the maple syrup and chose their house made hot sauce and Hollandaise instead. Liked my choice, but I am sure the syrup would have been legit too. Wife had an Orange Julius drink that was tasty and I had a Session draft. They have a happy hour where everything is $5 on alcoholic drinks that is worth checking out. It is in the passbook and that is why we checked it out. We will be back, and I will make sure to get the delicious looking Landmark omelette. They get a 4 in my book for one reason. Every single drink was the same price at $9.75. No separation. My Session was $8, which is about $3 above market price. Otherwise, I highly recommend, and see you there!

The food is usually pretty good, but is sometimes served pretty cold. The takeout orders from here only come home right about 25% of the time though - more often these orders often have missing or incorrect items. When we have called in to fix (~ half the time things are wrong). The managers are usually friendly and helpful at resolving issues. Sadly though, it’s the owner who is more often crazy condescending, disrespectful, or just downright rude to even his more loyal local customers (even when they’ve spent thousands $$$ at his locations in the last year). He’s even accused my partner of lying when he came in to redeem a free entree credit offered by his manager at his other location from a messed up order of double eggs there. When I spoke to him directly today about the overall frequency of mistakes on our takeout orders his response is “then why do you keep ordering from us, just move on to another place if you don’t like our service.” So - quite clearly he doesn’t actually value his repeat customers or their business if they do ever bring his attention to take accountability regarding missing items that were paid for or to fix incorrect orders / mistakes. I really do hope this location succeeds for the sake of our neighborhood overall. It’s doubtful to me that they will longterm though if their best response to critical feedback is to send regular customers elsewhere. This is how they treated us, some more frequent patrons of both locations …so I guess just buyer beware!

Nice place, food is good. Overall okay. I got the omelette which was really good, I loved the arugula on top. The potatoes needed seasoning or something, they were missing something. The biscuit is pretty dry, I love a moist biscuit. There is a nice patio to sit and relax on.

I went here first thing and it was very quiet so service was fast and freindly. Food was good size portion. Lots to choose from but all the usual American breakfast choices. Everything was tasty and cooked well.. they also had espresso coffee choices.

Tucked away off Pecos and 67th in the Midtown neighborhood is The Early Bird Restaurant. A hidden gem that I'm not sure enough people know about! We went in at 8am on Saturday morning and it was completely empty! The restaurant has a cool high class coffee shop vibe with high top tables, bar seating and cool, hip decor! The menu is filled with classic items that all homemade and cooked to order! We got the chicken fried chicken and eggs and the Biscuit and gravy with a waffle. The chicken fried chicken came with a large batter fried chicken brest that was crispy on the outside and juicy in the middle. The batter was well seasoned and the cook was perfect! It's covered in a sausage gravy that is hot and flavorful! The EB crispy potatoes that come on the side are also made very well! Big chunks of potatoes that are well seasoned, crispy with fluffy pillowy insides! The over-easy eggs were done exceptionally! Hot runny yolks and firm cooked whites. Just the way they're supposed to be. Each meal comes with a serving of Arugala, roasted tomatoes and a fried shishito pepper. A nice little burst of color and freshness to the plate. The biscuit and gravy was also very good. My dad said it was one of the best he had ever had!! The GIANT homemade biscuit was buttery and fluffy! It came with a giant serving of potatoes and large portion of gravy filled with chunks of sausage and bacon! The waffle was perfect as well! A crisp sweet crust with a soft airy inside. Sprinkled with powdered sugar and finished nicely with butter and warm maple syrup! The staff was always checking on us and made sure to keep our coffee and waters topped off the whole time! All in all this place is amazing and needs to be shown love!! GO! TRY IT OUT!
