"If the wait is too long for breakfast at local farm-to-table pioneer Early Girl Eatery, a short stroll down Wall Street to the iconic Flat Iron sculpture (aka the “Big Iron”) then down the hill on College Street leads to the Med, which has been cranking out diner classics since 1969." - Gina Smith

I got the sweet biscuit French - cinnamon apple and bacon biscuit. the service was friendly and warm. There was a very cozy seating feeling. Really enjoyed the large wide windows. I didn't love this French toast because I think cinnamon apples are not personally my favorite. I just wanted to try something different. I liked the twist on using biscuits in the French toast batter. I still prefer more traditionally used bread. Very large portion, they give you plenty to eat with this dish.

Best place to eat right outside of Asheville! Exceptional service and delicious food, also the serving sizes were giant. Overall, very pleased and will return on our next road trip!

Google
The atmosphere at Early Girl Eatery was super cute and welcoming, and our waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive. Unfortunately, the food didn’t quite live up to the hype for me—it was just okay and nothing particularly memorable. I appreciate the experience, but I don’t see myself returning based on the food alone.

Me and my grandmother came here about a week ago and it was amazing! I had their tofu scramble and she had the biscuit French, both were SUPER tasty! Our server was also really nice and fun to talk to. We’ll definitely be back!

Jennifer Heglar

Google
The food is consistently amazing and the service is, too! Today, we had Anna, who is attentive and cheerful. The combination of Early Girlfood AND lots of parking? Yes, please!

Google
The food was really good and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The "any gender" bathroom toilet was dirty, and the seat was up. I opted to hold it then to touch the seat. I didn't try the second one.

Very disappointed by the reviews here. I got the potato cakes with eggs. The cakes were good. The plate had butter all in it. The chef just poured the eggs in along with all the butter. The coleslaw was some of the worst I've ever had. Ginger doesn't belong in it. So pass on it. Our server was kinda pushy, which didn't help. The strawberry shortcake wasn't great. The strawberries were old and not ever red. The biscuits and jam were good. Overall, it's not worth the money. Go elsewhere. Thank me later.

Google
Cute place. Great helpful service and delicious food. We stopped by due to their vicinity to We Rock The Spectrum (about 5 min away) and they did not disappoint. 6 children, 2 with disabilities, and 3 adults. A nightmare table for a server. The gentleman who helped us was patient, kind, and professional. The food was fantastic (my wife and I got breakfast and the kids all got burgers) he was about my height (admittedly shorter) with a bit of a short beard but I didn't catch his name. If the owners see this, please recognize that gentleman. Anyways, check it out. Pretty good for brunch and didn't hesitate when we walked in with an army of demonic children:)

Yelp
Came here looking for a healthy breakfast and they did not disappoint. All their food is sourced locally, non-gmo and organic. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered hot cocoa on a cold January morning and it came with fresh whipped cream. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options.

Yelp
My husband & I had breakfast here on Sunday. The wait was long but, it was fine. The restaurant is typically not too loud. The waitress came around for our order. We ordered & it came out at a decent time period. Although the restaurant was full. When I received my food my eggs were good. The home fries were cold & had no flavor. The bacon was very good . We ordered a plain waffle that was excellent. I also got a biscuit with my meal it was also good. My husband got the Yam scramble and the yams were not good at all. We did enjoy the fresh squeezed orange juice & coffee

Tina S.

Yelp
I took my son & dil here for brunch they have good food, friendly service, nice location & nice decor.

Lakisha M.

Yelp
I ordered DoorDash today trying to give this restaurant. Another chance my food was so disgusting and I paid $55 for the DoorDash order only to receive literal trash.. never again

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Early Girl Eatery South has both inside and outside seating and plenty of parking at the shopping center it is located. The restaurant is short staffed but they were doing the best they could. I went with the fish and chips but the fish were fried too long. I was surprised that they were served like that. But I could remove the breading and still eat it. Although I didn't finish it. I also ordered a waffle to try that out and that was as delicious as they claim. I'd say what you order here will determine if it is prepared properly.

Yelp
Food was great. Pleasant atmosphere. A must stop in Asheville! Dana, the server was fabulous even helping us with the guest Wi-Fi. Great suggestions and no hassle substitutions.

Yelp
Got carry-out from Early Girl in South Asheville! Ordered the Grilled Bacon Chicken Sandwich and a side salad. One negative about carry-out in general, the pictures of the food leave a lot to be desired. The taste was fantastic, and I'm happy I didn't order any fries (they usually are pretty soggy and cold by the time you reach your eating destination). I opted for the side salad with creamy garlic dressing and it was the best decision!! Wow that creamy garlic dressing is amazing! Luckily, I ordered extra dressing, so I got to make myself a salad at home the next day and devour the rest of the scrumptious dressing!!

Yelp
My wife and I ate at Early Girl today. The service was terrific? The food nediocre. She had a biscuit french and I had a breakfast bowl. Neither was as good as sinila r dishes we atr E in other Asheville reztaurants. TOO BAD.

Stacey P.

Yelp
Early Girl Eatery was a fantastic experience! During my trip I came here twice and both times enjoyed myself thoroughly. The food was great! The deep fried buttermilk batter chicken is savory, juicy, and tender. The flavors explode and melt. The biscuits were buttery and flakey. The mimosa flight - while somewhat inconsistent with champagne to mixer ratio from flight to flight - was a delightful way to start a day. Both times our service was great. Our waitress the first time was a bit more attentive than the second time but both were very keen on following allergies and being receptive to requests such as putting the avocado on the side. They both were fabulous. I believe I like dining near the windows instead of the enclosed patio since the enclosed patio became rather noisy when people were talking all at once. I didn't notice that in the main dining room. Once it cleared out it was a very pleasant place to sit. All in all Early Girl is an easy favorite of mine!

Linda W.

Yelp
This is a healthy country restaurant with vegan, vegetarian and Mediterranean options. It's not big inside, but it's comfy and charming.

Tim B.

Yelp
My wife had two eggs with potatoes and bacon . I had the vegetable breakfast bowl and a side of curry cauliflower. We both had coffee . The food was delicious and fresh the coffee was very good . The service was excellent I would highly recommend eating here and will absolutely come back certainly service with a smile . Lilly was our server she was fantastic very helpful and super friendly.

Yelp
We wanted brunch before heading out of Asheville and decided to try Early Girl Eatery as they had some dishes catered to vegetarians/vegans. We waited 20 minutes to be seated and once seated our booth seat was covered in water (not a great start so they may not have cleaned the table). Our waitress was also kind of in a rush and she seemed somewhat upset (in a very noticeable passive way) that we did not order any alcoholic beverages. I ordered the 12 hour pork breakfast bowl and I thought it was too heavy on the bacon gravy. The pork I thought was just okay but the gravy made it super heavy to where I walked out pretty bloated. The people I went with ordered the biscuit French toast and the organic tofu breakfast, all which were very bland. And we were very hungry when we got to brunch so that tells you how we felt while eating. To top it off, our waitress came to collect our card and when she gave it back, it was so sticky like her hands were covered in syrup and she touched our card to where we had to go and scrub it off. Overall, I would definitely try out a different brunch place as this didn't seem to do the job with us.

Pam J.

Yelp
Arden restaurant has the best service. Food is great and good atmosphere. Great place to have a quick lunch when shopping.

Asheville H.

Yelp
The food here is decent... however We waited at least an hour for a meal the other day at the restaurant and they were not busy at all... Not really sure exactly what happened... But I would say skip it and go to wild Ginger down the road.

Susan S.

Yelp
No one ever came to wait on us even though we were maybe one of two tables and there was plenty of waitstaff chatting with one another, joking, and one walking around eating a biscuit. I would've liked a biscuit, too. :( A server walked by us no less than 5 times with no eye contact or acknowledgement.

Robert K.

Yelp
The service was outstanding. Was able to get a table outside. The chicken on the hot honey chicken waffle was perfectly done. Just enough crispness and sauce. The waffle was also done just as well. The fries could have been a lot crispier. The staff was outstanding was able to also get a lot of recommendations for smaller more discreet breweries.

Tanya K.

Yelp
While this place has a lot of potential the service was slow and the food was just alright. There were 4 of us and all of us had some sort of issue with our meals we ordered. One got the wrong thing, another's was cooked wrong, etc.

Lynn B.

Yelp
Fabulous way to end our weekend in Asheville. We had sweet and savory dishes and both were excellent!

Kalyn T.

Yelp
Just moved to Asheville and needed to grab some breakfast before a big day of unpacking. I'm not a big breakfast person but they also served lunch all day! The food was amazing and the service was even better. We were given refills without asking and provided with information on what people normally order and love! I will definitely be going back!

Tammie W.

Yelp
I have been in Asheville for a year and this place has been my favorite since my very first visit. The food is constantly very good and always serve red to my specific order. (I'm very picky). Today I had a dangerous drop in blood sugar. The Manager was very attentive and expedited getting my food and anything else I asked for to get my blood sugars to raise out of the danger zone. She did all could and even comped part of my bill because they weee out of an item that I asked for when I first arrived. The staff is very professional and they go above and beyond each time I eat there. Please support this great business!

Jeremy L.

Yelp
First, let me say that I don't often leave negative reviews. I understand that you could catch any establishment on a bad day, and I believe in extending grace. But my wife and I went here today and it was so disappointing. On a positive note, our waiter was exceptionally nice. Really attentive and we couldn't say anything bad about the service. The negative, the food was not fresh in the least bit. My home fries were burnt and our chicken tasted old. It was visually unappealing and should have been corrected. We powered through and ate the food. It was not bad, but just not commensurate with the cost. As South Asheville residents, we want to revisit this location and I will gladly update this review. But until then, please make sure that all patrons get the best and fresh food. Thank you the the waitstaff, you were very accommodating.

Paige B.

Yelp
Nick and Amanda were so friendly and service was fast! Food was good and came out quickly, a good casual spot for breakfast food!

Karen M.

Yelp
Food was excellent. LILLY was magnificent! The eggs were so fresh and I love your jelly

Frank M.

Yelp
Service and food was great will come back ......the staff was friendly ...Matalie was our server

Gary B.

Yelp
Food and Brittany were the bomb. We also got banana pudding and an apple bread pudding which we loved!

Kim E.

Yelp
Love the shrimp and grits! Also appreciate that it's easy to eat GF here. Very busy place, but the staff is always willing to answer questions about the food and make recommendations. The last time we went there, our waiter was hilarious and seemed to enjoy being entertaining. Some of the tables are placed kind of in the path from the kitchen to the rest of the place, and it's a bit weird to sit there, but aside from those, every other table or booth is comfortable. Outside seating is nice, even with H'ville Rd traffic so close.

V O.

Yelp
We stop at Early Girl when in the neighborhood. The service had always been great. Anna is such a pleasant waitress/server and is ready to make suggestions. We normally stop in on off-hours so there has been no wait and we get served quickly. I wouldn't say the food is top-notch in terms of seasoning and temperature. However, it is indeed tasty enough to have us return. I give it five stars particularly for the friendliness and service. We'll go back.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
Came with a big group for a work dinner, Melissa and Dana were excellent at managing everything and the food was delicious

Madeline H.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the service was even better! We came with a large group and they were so accommodating. Service was quick and the waitresses Melissa and Lilly were so kind and helpful. We had a variety of dishes and drinks, and every plate was scraped clean- it was all beyond delicious! When we come back to Asheville, we will definitely come back here!

Jennifer W.

Yelp
We got to the restaurant around 3PM as we walked in there were already a relaxed, clean, put together atmosphere. The staff was putting together holiday decoration. Both the visible staff smiled like we are regulars and asked what seating we prefer. The French toast biscuit's were amazing. I had an adult peppermint hot chocolate which was delicious. While our food was prompt, and drinks kept coming as needed we felt in no way hurried by the staff as we caught up with old friends. Go check out this location.

Charles C.

Yelp
The food is not very good. I had the chicken and waffles, which is paired with a bbq sauce. I wouldn't use the bbq sauce, but I got it to try anyway. It just isn't a good fit. The waffle is very dense and unappetizing. They have table syrup that doesn't taste good, it's not even sweet. Definitely not maple syrup. I also had a side of ham which was saltier than any ham I've ever had before. The service is subpar as well. Better choices are Tupelo Honey, Sunny Point Cafe or the Sawhorse. Avoid this place.

Anna H.

Yelp
Gluten-free dairy-free local foods paradise. Love the variety! The waffles are delicious.

Jim T.

Yelp
They've always had good food and friendly service - and the recent additions to the menu make Early Girl south a top pick when we are looking for a casual meal we'll both enjoy. Try their protein and two sides - I get the salmon which tastes great along with a wide range of choices for my two sides (try the sweet potatoes, the carrots, and the brussel sprouts). And they still have solid breakfast choices like the Southwestern Omelet.

Liz B.

Yelp
It's terrible! The "scrambled eggs" tasted and looked just like the ones on a cheap hotel free breakfast bar. From a box?? The hot chocolate was $3.50 and was in a tiny mug, obviously warned up chocolate milk. The food is served in a sloppy pile on your plate. Unappetizing and a waste of money.

Katie D.

Yelp
Just went today and oh my goodness everything was absolutely wonderful! All of the food was delicious and locally sourced. The service was wonderful our server Melissa was extremely nice and was on top of everything. The Ambiance was also amazing from the beautiful menu and dining area to the local pottery that they used for the plates and sugar holders. Over all a wonderful place that this Asheville local will keep coming back to.

Carl S.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant that serves a variety of gourmet country style food. Breakfast all day... Fish and chips... Chicken that's incredible... And a unique twist on all of the offerings. The fish and chips are the best in Asheville by far. I love the new south location... It's clean and has outdoor seating. The staff are very nice and accommodating. I'll be here many more times

Amanda R.

Yelp
Early Girl Eatery has great food and service. They're always very friendly and accommodating.

Brittany M.

Yelp
Great brunch spot! You will probably have to wait a while. If you aren't in a hurry, it's a great place to eat breakfast or brunch. Probably not the best for kids, since the weight is so long.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
What a difference 9 months makes! I came to Asheville in February of '22 and ate breakfast here. I ordered the veggie bowl and got it vegan. It was delicious and tasty. The service was fantastic! My waiter was kind, and on top of things. The hostess was lovely and accommodating. Food came out fast and hot. Cut to today. I am visiting Asheville with a friend and told her we had to come here. She loved the menu. The hostess was cold and irritated when we asked to sit at a table against the wall rather than in the middle of the room and it wasn't even busy yet. It was literally right next to the original table she wanted to seat us at. Our waiter, while nice, was inattentive, and nonchalant about everything. He never came back to check on us. We needed coffee refills and I would've asked for more salsa because my food was terribly bland. My friends order was also so bland and tasteless she decided not to eat it. We finally asked someone to find our waiter and when he came back he did offer to replace her meal so she got the biscuit with egg. Again, terribly tasteless and the biscuit was so old it was crunchy and fell apart because it was so dry. We got our check and sat for ten minutes waiting to pay until I finally got up and walked over to the waitress station and asked a waitress if we could just checkout. She was obviously annoyed and said no, we'd need to do that through our waiter. Not "Let me help you out with that. I'll take the bill and grab your waiter" or anything helpful. So I asked if she could help me find our waiter and again annoyed she said "Well I don't know who your waiter is." Um yeah...I know that. How about a little help?? Overall the experience was lacking terribly. Bad food, dismissive service, and the floor...oh my gosh don't even get me started on it. You have to be VERY careful because there is so much grease on the laminate flooring you slide while walking. I know Covid did a number on service but wow...this place really needs to get it together. We've dined in lots of local places several times since we've been here and the experience never lacked in those places so I'm not sure what the problem is here. I definitely won't be back.

Greg O.

Yelp
Disappointing experience. Took much longer than necessary to be seated because the server was scrolling on their phone. Got the chicken biscuit and everything was super dry. The "biscuit" was more like an English muffin and did not taste fresh. It's a cute environment with indoor and outdoor seating. Won't be returning.

Joseph C.

Yelp
Very nice place for lunch with great service. Had the Shroomie Garden Sandwich, which was quite good, with a side salad. The Raspberry Vinaigrette was unique and very good. Really wanted the waffles but they didn't serve Real Maple Syrup, which was quite surprising. May want to consider offering it as an option even for an up charge.

Ed B.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to try this Early Girl location. Sat indoors facing the driveway. Noted the garage door enclosure which could be opened when the weather warms. I had the poutine with bacon gravy and pulled chicken. It was tasty and filling. Was expecting a slightly bigger serving size however. The servers and staff were friendly, helpful and busy with the lunch crowd. I like the ambiance and cooking at the Haywood Rd location better. But that is just personal preference. You can't go wrong dining here as well.

Gillygaloogirl G.

Yelp
5 stars and a great big ol Hallelujah to Lilly and gluten free fried chicken and gluten free waffles! now I can die happy.

Jonathon S.

Yelp
Early Girl Eatery is the perfect brunch or brekfast spot for any morning. The atmosphere was cute and comfortable and the service was very friendly. Food- I ordered the Bow to the King which is a fantastic take on tradition chicken waffles. They substitute the waffles for buttermilk biscuit pancakes which provide a light, fluffy and savory treat. The southern fried chicken totally hit the spot and evened out the sweetness of the meal. Other members of my group got the goat cheese omelette, Yam-Scram, and Charleston Chicken Biscuit. No complaints from anyone on there meals. Really feel like you cant go wrong on the menu here. Overall Early Girl Eatery is a solid breakfast joint with a plentiful menu and some really good flavors

Margo H.

Yelp
I took great efforts to speak with the manager, try to contact the owners. Sadly, I got nowhere The food (breakfast), coffee and service was terrible. I wasn't mean. I just wanted th to make it right. I was told I'd get money off the bill. I didn't ask for that, but appreciated it. Ultimately no money came off, no apology and as I left (the server was tipped) the manager and team were laughing about me as I went through the dining room.

Emma G.

Yelp
Food was outstanding! Service was pretty good. Cornbread with molasses and honey butter was BOMB (you NEED to order if you like molasses!) but the coffee was pretty bad, very acidic :( Bring your coffee for the morning with you, though, and you're good to go!

Elizabeth W.

Yelp
Not sure if the pancakes always come this charred.....but I was extremely disappointed when I got home with my takeout order only to find burned pancakes. At least the staff was friendly when taking my carry out order in person (because they don't allow phone call carry out orders).

Alexandra S.

Yelp
We stopped by the South location of Early Girl on Saturday afternoon for lunch, as we waited for our cars to be worked on down the street. This location has both indoor and outdoor seating, the outside seating is covered. We were sat right away and reviewed the menu. Breakfast is served all day so we started with a biscuit with the vegetarian herb gravy to start. It was lunch time so my partner and I also ordered the vegetarian burger with fries and the fried grit cake meal. I'm a big french fry lover and I really enjoyed these fries. They seemed to be hand cut, well fried but not crunchy. They were kinda floppy fries (and I don't mean that in a bad way, I love floppy fries). I ordered a side of ranch for dipping and I wanted more fries and ranch by the time I was done with them both. My burger was a standard LTO burger, no thrills, but it was great. I hate my entire plate, and then some, which I don't normally do. My partners grit cake plate was gorgeous. It's served with a HUGE circular, and thick, fried grit cake, topped with sautéed vegetables and a tomato gravy. He ate it all up and I really enjoyed the bite he shared with me.

A J.

Yelp
The Sunday hostess, and I use that term loosely, was an incredible b&@*%, and we ended up at Tupelo instead... WHERE THEY KNOW HOW EERVICE WORKS.
