Project Juice Has Arrived to Cleanse The Marina - Eater SF

"The latest San Francisco location of Project Juice is now open for healthy eating and drinking in the Marina, where it ought to fit in nicely with the notably health-conscious neighborhood. In fact, at 2234 Chestnut Street, it’s mere lunges away from the nearest Barry’s Bootcamp. The store is the chain’s sixth in San Francisco and its eighth in the Bay Area overall." - Caleb Pershan

Google
I LOVE Earthbar, also this location. Actually just leaving the Berkeley location made me realize how much I love the Chesnut location. Earth Bar drinks and supplements have really helped my immunity, gut help and overall energy. The drinks are crafted to perfection here and every worker loves their job and customers!

Google
I called to make an edit on my order but no one picked up. Which is fine... if the voicemail box wasn't out of memory.... And since my order was time sensitive - I tried to call several more times but was then sent to voicemail..... every time Which begs the question why do you have a phone number if you don't plan to a) Pick up the phone b) Consistently keep your voicemail in check Odd decision

Google
I really like their drinks, have tried about 6 of them and all good. Their iced matcha one was really refreshing. All drinks are not too sweet and less sugar than most smoothies. I can always find a placé to sit. It's good for working on laptop too since most people just grab their drink and go so their is room. And staff is always patient to me.

Google
Don’t order delivery, even it’s 10 min it’ll be cold soup. Also use to love EarthBar but regardless of melting this is one of the worst acai bowls I’ve ever had. It has like ice shards in it and tastes like vanilla. Giving not fresh and additives.

Google
This is regarding Earthbar online support, which has done little to resolve numerous issues. With increasing prices over time and decreased quality assurance in both the bowls/smoothies (watery bowls, missing toppings that are said to be included in the description, less fruit and granola, large golf ball sized chunks of solid ice in the middle) and the app platform, including misleading and falsely advertised promotions sent via their app that are not applied at checkout after following the terms of the offer. I've been an Earthbar rewards member for years, and at this point, I think I've had enough.

Google

Google
I like healthy food! Clean, fresh, tasty...yes, yes, yes! Project Juice was a food start-up that opened first in Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. The couple who started it lived up the street. I started to taste their blended beverages in a bottle. They were delicious! One of my favorites is the Mint Chip. Now I’m into the Golden Immunity drink. The turmeric counters the environmental free radicals. That’s what we need, isn’t? Stronger immunity systems? The shop also has food! Paleo, gluten free and more. Yeah! Next time I’ll try the acai bowls or avocado toast! Multiple shops in San Francisco and beyond ;)

Google
Got a smoothie bowl, wish there was a bit more in it for $15. Also would’ve been nice if they had more customization with the smoothie bowls, both the smoothie and the toppings. Other than that, pretty good with a good location and store. The regular smoothies seemed cool, just pricey.

Yelp
Detox greens are the way to go for a quick boost! Also very delicious. Fast & friendly service. There are a selection of beverages that you can grab & go.
google avatar

Yelp
Now Earthbar is not the same smoothie shop. Different company in this spot. Pretty good. Had some snacks.

Busky D.

Yelp
Bad food, bad management. Found a diaper on the counter. tasted better than the acai bowl.

Yelp
Best açaí bowls and smoothies! best customer service If you are looking for a delicious and healthy way to start your day this is the place to go to. I always get their açaí bowl which is extra delicious and so full of nutritional value.

Yelp
Service is always quick. Workers are nice. Smoothie = great. This is an amazing option if you want something after a workout
google avatar

Karlee J.

Yelp
Good smoothie spot on chestnut! Fresh and many healthy options. A little pricy but good if you need a good smoothie
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
I stopped in to see if Project Juice still carried Turmeric Milk, a smoothie. They didn't :( But they had an Immunity Latte which I ordered. It's a hot drink which I appreciate cause the City has cold mornings. The latte is interesting since it has the beautiful yellow coloring of turmeric. There's a lot of other good ingredients too. Tasty! I will return to order this again. Wanna stay healthy!

Yelp
Great spot for quick and yummy healthy smoothies! I work in the area so I love popping by Earthbar to pick up a smoothie on my way in. It's pricey ($11) so definitely a splurge/not every day kinda thing. I get their mint chip and I love! Super minty, the cacao bits are a nice treat and I enjoy the small crunch.

Yelp
How the great have fallen. When they sold out to Earth Bar it started to go down. The hours were shorter. Closed by 6 PM when I'm getting home from work. I finally made it back during working hours and was just disappointed. Service was good (don't blame the messenger), but they no longer carried their famous green bowl (which I loved). The Marina Greens smoothie is no more. Instead of feeling like "home" and family and folksy, it's much more corporate. The ladies who started Project juice had such a great company, atmosphere and product. I'm so sorry they merged with Earth Bar and that such a good thing deteriorated. Probably the last time I go here as there are other options out there. The food wasn't horrible, but it wasn't the 5* quality either. Project Juice, R.I.P.

Yelp
Smoothie was great, but the toast was pretty bad. Very little ricotta and not toasted at all.
google avatar

Christina J.

Yelp
Project juice is the best Try the classic açaí bowl Will be back to try the mission mocha and the epic(chocolate)
google avatar

Laurra H.

Yelp
Typical "not Jamba Juice brand" but similar menu juicery. Food: i ordered the epic greens version. Sweet with banana but has spinach. Ambiance: fast grab and go setting. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Yelp
Wow... I would go to this every day if it were closer Crazy great options... unlike most places were I find one thing I like, this is a hit parade. Don't hesitate if you are near by don't walk, Run! Yum #glutenfree
google avatar

Tammie G.

Yelp
We stopped here several times during our trip in San Fran. It was always fresh and made me feel like I was doing something good for myself. I loved the açaí bowl and would def get that again. I didn't like the avocado toast as much as I tried. It sounds so good on paper but the gluten free sourdough is not good. It was pasty and didn't taste good. (Note to self... when in San Francisco eat REAL sourdough) Im not gluten free and would've loved it had there been an option for regular sour dough. Now I know stuck to the other menu items

Actually C.

Yelp
I had a good smoothie here. I forget which one but it definitely tasted healthy! I think it was Green? Yeah it was green! Nothing like a good ole green smoothie, I like to say!
google avatar

Kimberly J.

Yelp
In addition to making delicious healthy smoothies the staff here are wonderful! Thank you so much to Kat and staff today!
google avatar

Yelp
I have literally never seen someone work with such little urgency. Service is always so slow. If you want to order make sure you download the app and expect to still wait 20 minutes past the pick up time.
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
I stopped by Project Juice on a Saturday morning with some friends. I ordered the almond butter açaí bowl and my friends ordered the mint chip smoothie and avocado toast. The açaí bowl definitely hit the spot. It had a ton of fruit so I didn't run out at the end like I often do with other açaí bowls. The almond butter also added to the yummy flavor. However I wouldn't say it was the BEST açaí bowl I've ever had. It was good and it hit the spot. I tried my friends and loved theirs-- the avocado toast was really warm and on great bread. The mint chip smoothie was also delicious!

Yelp
Kale you can put more project juices around the city because this place is delishhhhh. I could gobble up every item on their extensive menu it's all so healthy and great. From avo toasts to green smoothies to açaí bowls to fresh pressed juices and wellness shots to....do I ever need to continue??? I am in luvvv with the epic greens smoothie. Causally find myself ordering one, waltzing down chestnut and finding myself cloud gazing in fort mason slipping on the latest and greatest green creation of all marina time. This smoothie is the best I've found in the marina and is probably the most affordable too. Another bonus point high five to project juice for being on Thanxx rewards and letting me earn money towards free smoothies with every purchase + wellness shots on your bday! Shut the kale up!!!! Whatever you do, don't pass this place up on your way to plant organic, earth bar, or the fuel bar - this is the only place that deserves your attention when you're in that smoothie mindset.

Yelp
Juice bars are the hipster trend popping up in all the big cities across the nation. Love the concept and the product since it's quality, fresh and delicious juice and smoothies. You do end up paying an arm and a leg for the quality though. I ordered the berry blaze smoothie. Very intense berry flavor that I liked, but the banana seemed a little too overwhelming. Also the texture of berry smoothies tends to have too many blended up seeds. Not overwhelmingly sweet and overall the flavors work well together. Nice little location in the marina district. $9+ seems a little outrageous for juice, but to be fair I'd rather hit up a juice bar than an alcoholic bar! Drink: 4.25/5 Value: 2.5/5 Service: 4/5 Overall: 3.75/5

Yelp
What a horrific customer service experience! Went in this morning to order a Blue Moon Smoothie which is on the menu and the young man said they don't have it on the menu. I then showed him it on the menu and his response was well I don't know how to make it. He also said there was no recipe card and he was the only one in the store. There were no other patrons in the store and he could have called the store manager or looked online for a recipe, but he told me to go to another store‍

Yelp
Me and my partner had a couple smoothies the other day, and it was good, but I have definitely had better. I had the Rock Star, which comes looking totally DIFFERENT than pictured online. Online it's a brilliant blue, supposedly from the blue spirulina. When you get it, it's far more on the grey spectrum. The taste was also a bit odd. Was it healthy? Sure! Was it tasty? Not necessarily in my opinion. I gave up after 1/3, so I only tossed around $7 of my purchase... Partner had The Epic, and had a similar reaction. He said it was lacking in taste, and was more of a nutritional shake than something nutritious AND tasty.

Yelp
First time trying project juice and for the most part I was satisfied with the drink I got. I ordered the epic smoothie with the greens in it. At first, I was worried I would taste the spinach, but after drinking it, I couldn't even tell it was added to the smoothie. I really loved that it included vanilla protein as well as almond butter so that this smoothie could be substituted for a meal. I got this before heading to a yoga session and it definitely filled me up and gave me the energy I needed to go through class. I gave this a 4 star review though because I was expecting it to be a little cheaper, instead of paying a meal price just for a smoothie. Other than the price though, I would be willing to come back and try out some other juices and drinks that they have.

Iulia R.

Yelp
I guess we're all just paying $12 for smoothies without batting an eye now? But then again, it's not like I'm going to purchase spirulina for the house... whatever that is. Service is exactly what you'd expect.

Yelp
This is the BEST Project Juice !! Best smoothies: Strawberry Maca, Peace Love and Kale Best bowls: Green Bowl, Dragon Bowl Best Cold Pressed Juices (pre-bottled): Radiance I am a big fan of Project Juice and Beaming! I've been to many PJ & Beaming stores in both NorCal and SoCal. I can say THIS Project Juice on Chestnut St. serves the BEST smoothies and bowls! They probably all follow the same recipes since it's a chain, but this one tastes the best. Somehow it tastes the freshest of all the stores i've been to. Also the staff are super friendly. The person who helped with my order was Adrian, very helpful & welcoming! We visited recently during COVID. We can tell the staff are following all protocols and very serious about food safety preparations. Thank you Project Juice on Chestnut Street!

Yelp
I hate giving this place a three star rating because I wanted to like it, but it is just what I think is right. I got there early, right at 8 and the guy let me In and was very kind and let me sit and wait while they got the equipment ready. Both the workers were super kind. But, the açaí bowl didn't meet my expectations. I finished it and it was good, but it was just good. It wasn't great. There's two main things I would change about the açaí bowl. It should be colder, and thicker. It was liquidy and almost room temperature. There's definitely much better açaí bowls out there. Something I did like was the inside of the restaurant and the ambiance.

Yelp
Great product terrible service Online orders take 15 min after you show up Different staff every time, never seen anyone more than once Seems like it's run by teenagers
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
I got the marina greens and absolutely love it. It's a bit sour due to the lime but also slightly creamy because of the avocado. I've never had a drink that was both sour and creamy at the same time and it surprisingly works really well together. They use spirulina in this drink which is a superfood so t has a lot of good benefits. I'll be back to try other things on the menu, such as their toast, waffles, and superfood bowls.
google avatar

Hani G.

Yelp
Great customer service and healthy ingredients. Although I ordered the strawberry smoothie and in the menue starts with house made Mylk, and they add WATER instead. So base of my smoothie was water and ice. I asked the lady and she said that's the old menue, we changed the menue. For 10 dollars you are adding water? Anyhow I felt disappointed. I hope they get the old menue back or at least change it. Not after receiving the item and I ask, they tell me.

Yelp
Project Juice has finally made it to the Marina! I used to frequent the Russian Hill location, and was so excited to see that the Marina spot would include a more robust menu. With a prime location on Chestnut St., you can now stop by for a smoothie/acai bowl post-workout at one of the many gyms/studios nearby. The menu includes: acai bowls, toasts, smoothies, and lattes, and there's also a grab & go section packed with juices and snacks. I ordered the Matcha Adaptogen Latte & can't wait to come back and try more!

Min S.

Yelp
Awesome customer service! I stopped by earlier to get an almond butter bowl. They made it within less than a minute! Just as i finish inserting my credit card! The barista has already packed and ready to go! Uh-mazing! I only mentioned it cause i was about to be late for work if it were too long to make!

MacKenzie R.

Yelp
For those of you that frequent this location and noticed the poor quality and service over the last 3-5 months... good news is the management has definitely turned over for the better. Ordered online through PJ directly, it was ready on time and the staff was *very* kind. Quality of the food (acai bowl) needs a little work but the old project juice is back to being a neighborhood favorite for us! 4/5 only bc the fruit was less than fresh..
google avatar

Lily C.

Yelp
One of the best acai bowls I've had! Project Juice is popular amongst locals. I dropped in before my yoga session, and the servers were warmly greeting other customers that they recognized. The bowl ordering process is easy -- first you choose your base, then the toppings, and finally the style. What's even better is that everything here is natural, no artificial or added sugar! They also have their own nut butters. Can you imagine, cookie dough nut butter? Remember to download the Thanx app to earn rewards from regular purchases. Located in the heart of Chestnut (the main street of the Marina district reminiscent of a downtown with plenty of shops and eateries), it's a great place to people watch. This location has a wide open window where you can sit on a barstool and observe all the fit and athletic passersby.

Yelp
Came here for some pre-workout fuel and since I had a coupon for this new location and I must say I am impressed! I got a Matcha Energy latte as well as an Almond Butter & Banana paleo protein waffle to share with my boyfriend. Both were pretty good! The waffle was so yummy and better than I'd make at home because of the additional toppings like the coconut yogurt and hemp seeds, so I also thought it was reasonably priced ($7) considering they don't skimp you on the toppings. The matcha was just a tad sweet for my taste, but I thought that was fine for my pre-workout drink. I also tried a bit of my boyfriend's smoothie which was good as well. They have a lot of superfoods that you can swap out in their menu items as you'd like. In terms of protein options they have those paleo waffles, but I'd like to see more paleo protein powders to swap like collagen. I wasn't sure what kind of protein they use in the waffles; other menu items are marked if they contain eggs and this one didn't say. I have been trying to be more paleo recently and something did upset my stomach a little which could have been in the smoothie or waffle, so it would be nice to get more info about allergens on menu food items!

Beth O.

Yelp
Super bummed as this was a go to for me. The quality has completely changed. I had an Açaí bowl today that was liquid consistency. When I asked to make a new one the gentleman showed me the pre made cups that were liquid. The berries are no longer fresh and the avocado toast is miniature sized. It also seems a bit dirty now. The was my third time of "trying again," bummer.
google avatar

Jenny H.

Yelp
My friend and I were hanging around the Marina and saw this place after getting brunch and knew we had to come back and try it. We were super dehydrated from our event and this helped alot!! I ordered the pitaya dragon on with the protein toppings. I'm glad they allow to substitute toppings if we don't like certain ones without a charge. Our bowls came out in a timely manner and with a ton of toppings!! I thought it was a bit pricey at first but the amount of pitaya and toppings was enough to make up for it. Each spoonful had the right amount of smoothie and toppings. It's quite busy on the weekends as people come in and out to get their healthy fix! Super clean store and they have a small outdoor patio too. Definitely will be coming back!!
google avatar

Julia Ysabela F.

Yelp
Okay so I seriously don't usually like anything pumpkin but boy oh boy this pumpkin bread was something else. I honestly can't thank my mom for forcing me to split it with her because it was so moist and flavorful at the same time??! I usually would go for açai bowl and wasn't feeling it that day but a slice of pumpkin bread paired with a sweet smoothie is the way to treat yourself this holiday season. Try it now, thank me later.
google avatar

Karla C.

Yelp
Went back for a second time again at this location, the guy in the cashier with the blue hair recommended me my new favorite juice: Liver Cleanse. It's so good! I guess this makes up for them taking out the Recharge.
google avatar

Alex M.

Yelp
Came here for something light and refreshing, was not disappointed. I tried the Pure Green juice (celery, mint, lemon, parsley, spinach) and it was great! Also bought one cacao coconut date ball (forgot what they actually called it in store) as a little sweet treat and it was rich and delicious. My only reason for taking off a star is that they pre-bottle all their juices in plastic bottles! Really wish it was glass, have seen their juice places that do that and then offer customers a small discount for returning the bottles directly to them.
google avatar

Lucas C.

Yelp
I usually only go to Jamba Juice out of convenience.I went here on a wimp since I was visiting friends and unfamiliar with the neighborhood. The place was clean and neat. The staff was really helpful and patient with answering all the questions I had. Considering the current situation, this store surprised me with their hospitality. The green juice... Not my favorite, but I would return again to try something else, if the occasion arises.
google avatar

Lawrence L.

Yelp
Nice clean and sunny juice bar located on trendy Chestnut Street in the heart of the Marina District. Order the Acai Bowl, which was adequate in taste. It was a bit pricey for the small portion that they gave me. Still prefer the acai bowls at Basik on Polk St.
google avatar

Therese H.

Yelp
I edited my previous review due to the management reaching out to me immediately and being really on top of correcting the issue I had. It was just an error of website info apparently. Giving 4 stars for that rectification alone and hopefully 5 when I go back to try again!
google avatar

Casey G.

Yelp
Love this Project Juice on Chestnut! The smoothies are delicious. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. They are always willing to make suggestions to adjust your smoothie based on any dietary restrictions or added health benefits. Special shout out to Adrian and Eli they are always so friendly and you really feel like this is a great neighborhood spot. So happy they've been able to stay open during lock down.

John M.

Yelp
Absolutely awful experience at the new Earthbar on chestnut street. One person working on a Saturday morning. They had one person working on a Saturday morning. How is that possible? I'm still here waiting for my order that I placed on the app. Who owns this store? Thanks for wasting my Saturday morning. I'll never come here again and will be seeking a refund.

Tyler O.

Yelp
Took 40 minutes for them to even start to make a waffle and a smoothie I ordered in store and I was the only person in the store. Their system was apparently down and they just didn't say anything to me as people came in to pick up mobile orders they were making.
google avatar

sara m.

Yelp
*updated review after being contacted by management* I came here midday, after leaving work because I felt really sick. I figured a smoothie could be a boost back to health. Project juice obviously cares about their customer's experience and satisfaction. The smoothie I ordered tasted fresh and delicious, the employees were friendly and welcoming and I was blown away by how rapidly I received a response from management (after mentioning a slightly disappointing amount of smoothie in my cup). I will definitely give project juice another chance. It's a little bit pricey, but I guess that's the price you gotta pay for fresh, healthy and yummy ingredients. I'lol be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Perhaps the best place to have healthy choices on the block. So much choices in healthy food. Incredibly popular among locals and runners.
google avatar

Brittany W.

Yelp
Stopped in before hitting the road down the coast. My friend recommend it to me. The food was totally my style. I got the paleo waffle and a smoothie. The waffle was enough to fill me before a long drive. I was able to enjoy the smoothie on the drive down route 1. Everything was so good and clean eats. Would highly recommend if in the area. Be warned there may be a wait.
google avatar

Susana L.

Yelp
Great Bowls and Smoothies ! Found it trying to hunt down a place that sold açaí bowls ... coming back again !
google avatar

Kristina I.

Yelp
I ate about it! This Project Juice location may be their best yet!!! It has everything from HPP organic juices (safe to drink if you are pregnant) , grab-n-go lunches and salads, and the BEST Avocado toast in the city, and their smoothies are so tasty you may need to get a few and share. To say we are obsessed is an understatement- I get the protein cocoa smoothie almost everyday after BODYROK. My kids get the gf waffles, almond butter toast, and a cookie! I'm also now hooked on the brain tonic stress relieving adaptatagen latte-- try it , you won't be sorry! Clean eating as it's best!
