When it comes to authentic premium Cantonese cuisine, it is hard to beat the offerings at East Bistro. And yes, we would be remised not to first mention the price as it is undeniably an expensive meal. However as you taste each dish, you do get the impression that it is not expensive just for brand’s sake, but rather a reflection of the premium ingredients that went into them.
The roasted pigeon is well seasoned, has wonderfully crispy skin and the perfect ratio of fatty to lean meat. Their star dish - sweet and sour pork - is served over a bed of ice that helps retain the crispiness of the pork even after a prolonged time. Their bamboo clams are served whole, making for a substantial bite along with crunchy garlic.
Lastly, where most would come for their pao fan which is also excellent in its own right, what we would instead recommend is the claypot rice. An almost lost craft in Singapore at this point, their claypot rice manages to come closest to achieving the hard-earned golden brown crust that eludes even most other famous specialty stalls.
With so many great dishes, it is recommended to come in a larger group and be sure to check their online menu for dishes that require pre-order such as the roasted pigeon and sea cucumber.
