Shortly after arriving to meet up with friends at East Brother Beer Company (EBBC) one asked "how'd you ever hear of this place?"
So off the beaten path that one would never just stumble upon it, EBBC is nonetheless known by many. I arrived at 4:15 on a weekday but by the time I left a couple of hours later almost all tables were filled and it was obvious that, despite the location, word is out.
You will come to EBBC knowing where you're headed and park in a large lot. Signs point the way towards EBBC once you're parked and you'll find it located on the side of a very big single story structure. A food truck may be present but you can also bring food in from outside.
EBBC has both indoor and outdoor seating, board games, and a pool table. It's a big space in a bigger space, with huge vats within view and a menu of beer only. They are quite generous with the samples, allowing one to find the perfect selection for their tastes. Even I, a non-beer drinker, found one I could consume and I enjoyed it enough to return for a second (mini, $3) glassful.
Even though I'm not a beer drinker there was really nothing I didn't enjoy about EBBC until, 90 minutes in, when a group of undisciplined school-age kids came in to celebrate. They were loud, out of control, and running all over the place and it made it impossible to enjoy the space any longer. Worse was knowing that the kids where related either to the owner or a worker who was allowing this behavior.
If you like beer and breweries you'll like this sort of secret spot. I really did until the kids arrived.
