Ate here on Christmas night with some of my family (a party of 6) and it was incredibly busy. While we did have to wait a bit for our food (a party of 17 came in and we could hear several DoorDash orders arriving while we sat), our server attended to us calmly and kept his cool. My food was good and the broccoli was the perfect amount of firmness. Several people came in and complained about the wait and the restaurant staff maintained their calm and courteous demeanor despite it all. A thing to note is that we ordered water, soda, and lemonade — the lemonade came in a cup with ice, two of the sodas were canned, one was bottled, and all the water was bottled. Since this was my first time eating there, I’m not sure that is the usual practice. But you might check the price if you’re someone who orders water at restaurants to save money. Overall a good experience, and I would return to try it under calmer circumstances. (I had Szechuan pork)

Let me start off by saying that I’ve worked in restaurants so I understand when mistakes are made, however, being dismissive and rushing customers away is pathetic. I ordered honey chicken online (which was clearly on the digital receipt), and I was in a rush to get back to work so I didn’t realize she gave me orange chicken. I came back the next day to let her know since I was about to order again anyway. She kept telling me that I told her orange chicken. How could I have “told” you orange chicken when I ordered online. I’ll say that again. How could I have “told” you orange chicken when I ordered online? And when I explained to her that I couldn’t have folded her anything since my order was online, she dismissed and rushed the conversation.

***update still on the hunt for a regular Chinese spot. Sad day because we love this place but they use MSG, I had no idea any restaurants still used MSG. But unfortunately the affects are not worth their yummy food. 😢 This was the third Chinese restaurant we have tried in Montgomery and it’s by far the best. Happy to have found a consistently good favorite. We have really liked everything we have tried so far. Wonton soup, hot and sour soup, best wontons, lo-mein chicken and shrimp, generals and sesame chicken, fried dumplings, spring rolls, everything has been so good. We have been back now several times.

Food was delicious! Service was great. I will patronize them again.

The man at the register was Very rude he wouldn’t even give me any Fortune cookies that I thought were free to customers. But I guess not. I don’t know if it was because my appearance or what but he was very rude. I won’t be coming back at all.

Fantastic. Had the house special mooshu and my partner had the house special lo mein. Both were very good. The service was superb.

Google
This place is EXCELLENT for what it is: it's a standard (but yet not standard - definitely above standar) Chinese takeout place. You can eat in also, and I have. But it's mostly takeout. The portions are very generous for the price. And the quality is a solid notch above most places. There are a couple other Chinese places in town I like also. But, for bang for my buck, this place is absolutely top notch. I've been coming here for years, and eat here at least once a week on average. I've literally never had a bad meal here. Easy to order and pick up, also. I just call them, tell them what I want - they say, OK - Ten minutes. And, in ten minutes, I arrive, and it's either ready, or almost ready. Very well run place, and again - above-average quality and portions for the price. An exceedingly good value.

Yelp
Needed a quick meal, so we chose this spot. There was no wait time, the service was great, food was amazing, prepared just right. Hubby ordered the vegetables lo mein. I ordered the chicken wings with fried rice and pork. The atmosphere was quiet for a Friday evening, but steady customer entry.....

Yelp
Ate here years ago. The food is OK. Very good variety and choices. Clean establishment. Very maintain a good spot to eat and enjoy yourself.

Yelp
The food is spectacular, only 2 complaints: they're way in the back of beyond from the interstate, so aren't convenient to travelers, and they are take out only, so not suitable for anyone not living nearby, unless you really enjoy eating in your car or you're really hungry! If they had dine in, they'd easily get 5 stars from me!

Yelp
I stop by headed to Atlanta pork fried rice and chicken egg fu yung was great! I would definitely return! The only thing I think the sauce was to dark....

Yelp
Food is ok, service adequate, and decor is acceptable. A bit pricey, honey chicken is pretty good

Yelp
I have not found another restaurant that cooks General Tso's Chicken as good as East Chicken. I no longer live in Montgomery, but when I always make a stop by East China.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in the area! China King on Zelda left the poop in their shrimp (bleagh!); Top China left the tails on (nope!). But East China was perfect. Best tasting sweet and sour sauce ever. And the amount of food you get is amazing. Very friendly lady and staff working there. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Best Chinese food in the Montgomery AL area. I ordered a meal and it brought back memories of my family dinners. Thank you!!!

Yelp
The same usual Chinese food joint. The chow mein however was not Noodles- it was made from cabbage which I was surprised. The rice and chicken was really good. They did not have sesame chicken on the menu though.

Yelp
Arrived at restaurant and was greeted. The restaurant has a nice area in both sides for eating in. Drink order taken. When server arrived with drink, she also brought back delicious fried wanton chips and fresh duck sauce. I ordered General Tso's Chicken combination with egg drop soup and an egg roll. Egg drop soup was creamy and very good however the egg roll left a bit to be desired. It was cover cooked. The General Tso's Chicken was excellent. It is served with broccoli and pork fried rice. Overall food was excellent, portions were sufficient and service was spot on. This is a Chinese Restaurant that deserves and has earned a great review. Revisited and food and service is excellent. Portions seem to be even bigger last night. Great experience both visits and will be back again.

Yelp
I tried East China for lunch, and was unimpressed. I ordered cashew chicken off of the lunch specials menu...the chicken was stringy and overcooked, and the vegetables were far from fresh. They had the texture of chewy cardboard, like they had been frozen and reheated before being added to the sauce. Fried rice was bland. Egg drop soup was fine.

Yelp
This is a great little gem of casual dining. The spring rolls were good, the egg drop soup was bright and thick without being heavy with a good broth. The spare ribs are probably the best we have had in about five years. And the Mongolian combo was a bit strong by itself but excellent over rice! Will definitely add to a list of favorites! They make a great Arnold Palmer.

Yelp
Our only and favorite carry out Chinese restaurant! The food is always fresh and not to mention good. My favorite is the beef with broccoli and hot and sour soup. Friendly service too!!

Yelp
This is a fantastic restaurant! Today was my first day to eat there. I was greeted by an employee, ordered my food, was seated and served delicious wanton chips with sauce. I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken. It was fantastic! Very generous servings. The egg rolls were great, too. The staff at East China are very friendly and eager to serve. This is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten at. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. Thank you for a great dining experience!

Yelp
After receiving a gift certificate for East China we decided to dine in on Chinese New Year. The restaurant is clean, nicely decorated and the staff was very friendly. They were constantly checking on us and filling up our water. English was not our servers first language so when I had questions about the menu she needed an owner to help. I ordered the bean curd and vegetables with no mushrooms and it came out with mushroom. Besides that mix up the food was really good. The veggies were steamed just right with a little crunch to them along with a good non-oily sauce that wasn't too sweet or salty. I look forward to coming again and trying other dishes.

Yelp
Not as good this time around. No music. Employee or owner's kids sat behind me and kicked our seat the entire time. They brought half of our entrees out way before they brought out the other. The food tastes ok, but not worth the sloppy experience. Thankfully, I discovered Mr. Chen's.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and had the Mongolian Beef. Prices were great and the food was very good. Outstanding egg roll and it came with the lunch special. Comes with fried or steamed rice and an egg roll for about 5-6 dollars. Great value for lunch and good food.

Yelp
Ordered Sesame shrimp, portion and shrimp taste was out of this world had a great saucers won't disappoint

Yelp
Going steadily downhill under new ownership. This place used to be reliable, quick, and good. New owners took over about 18 months ago and it has been a slow decline since. Portion sizes have shrunk, special requests are ignored, and they seem generally disorganized. Today I placed an order via their website and when I arrived at the restaurant was met with a blank stare as they were not even aware of my order. Until they get it together, try Top China.

Yelp
This is my family's "Go To" Chinese place, the food is consistently fantastic. Large servings, on time, and great flavor... I have tried several of their dishes, but now I always get the cashew chicken and my wife is all about the mu shu pork. The lady that is always there (I'm guessing that she / her family owns the place) is always crazy busy when I walk in. But, she is always friendly, fast, and sometimes helping her kids with their homework since they are there with her after school. Over the past 4 years and couldn't tell you how many to go orders... my order has never been wrong. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I went to get lo mein with a friend. What I got was a blubbery soup. I had a high hopes, but I was disappointed when I got my food. She got the curry chicken and refused to eat past one bite. I really wish our experience was better but what can you do? The daughter was really cute though, she said hi and bye to us

Yelp
Best Chinese food in Montgomery! I'm pretty picky when it comes to Chinese food. I've lived all over the country and the northeast seems to be the best. After trying East China in Montgomery, I have to say it's probably my favorite Chinese restaurant ever. The employees are nice and attentive and the food is delicious!

Yelp
My meal ( general tso's chicken) and my boyfriend's lo mein were perfect. THE SIDE OF WON TON SOUP WAS THE BEST PART. It was so amazing that i wanted to buy thr broth in a gallon jug ( my bf seconds said desire). The service was prompt and polite. The restaurant was super clean and adorably furnished. The booth was comfortable, the atmosphere friendly and inviting. The bathroom was incredibly clean and stocked. The prices were reasonable for the amount of food recieved. All around amazing.

Yelp
We purchased the family dinner. While the portions were very generous and the take out service was acceptable, the food was NOT good. Everything was of very poor quality. For example, the meat in the chicken fried rice was questionable, the wonton soup was excessively salty and the general chicken was all breading. Needless to say we will not ever go back. We had a ton of leftovers and did not even bother to keep it- all went in the trash. What a waste!

Yelp
I ordered the black pepper chicken (2) and 1 sweet and sour soup over the weekend and was Awesome! The flavor was bold and spot on with the chicken. The soup needed and extra something but it hit the spot.

Yelp
It's a blessing and a curse living so close to this place, because it's definitely the best Chinese food in Montgomery. The sesame chicken is always flawless and portions are more than generous. Pricing is awesome and service is always fast and friendly. They have been a staple here for over 10 years and I don't see them leaving any time soon.
google avatar

Angie L.

Yelp
It was average. General Tso was crispy but lacked spice. Pork egg fo young was good but the gravy with it was thin and watery. Fried rice was very bland with only a few peas and a few pieces of onion. Egg drop soup and egg roll where good. Over all just so so.
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
This is somewhat Americanized Chinese food (it is in Montgomery after all, so I'm sure they've adjusted things to suit Southern tastebuds), but it's by far the best I've had in the area. They will gladly make things more authentic if you know what to ask for. Staff is nice and will remember you, even if you only come in once in a while like me. Food is done in a flash, I rarely wait longer than 10 minutes for anything, and portions are a good size.
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
This place is pretty good for Montgomery standards for Chinese food. Of course they have the usual standard Chinese (American) menu. However, we rarely eat anything off that menu. My in-laws know the owners, so we usually ask them about the specials, which is a bit closer to what we are use to eating at home. Occasionally they will have fresh fish, which they'll steam with ginger and scallions (just like how my mom cooks it). So yummy.

Yelp
Pretty good Chinese food! The portions are large and the price is great! The pan fried dumplings are outstanding and the food was prepared fast.

Yelp
Finally found good Chinese food in Montgomery. Great price; fast service. Excellent value

Yelp
We ran into this place entirely by chance. I've been to many Chinese restaurants and this one is by far one of the best. We got Sichuan tofu and shrimp/chicken with chili sauce. Absolutely outstanding. And among other things, this place actually gives you vegetables unlike most places that deep fry everything then stir in some sauce. The shrimp were huge, too. It doesn't look like much when you walk in but don't let that put you off, the food is incredible.

Yelp
Love this place! Great food. Fast take out. The best Chinese food we have found in Montgomery.

Yelp
#1 Chinese Restaurant in Montgomery I went with my family of four during a road trip to this quiet little Chinese place tucked into a regular plaza surrounded by a very nice community. The staff was very friendly and made it easy to order with no communication problems. I ordered a dinner combo plate with Kung Pao Chicken and Pork Fried Rice (the kung Pao was very good, while the fried rice was average). All of our food was made fresh within a few minutes. Overall, a great experience and great food coming from an avid Chinese eater.

Yelp
One of the area's best Chinese restaurants: East China is everything a good restaurant should be. The decor is just relaxing and perfect. The service is great, people are nice and attentive. The food may be the best Chinese offerings in Montgomery and is well worth the price. I always enjoy the meal and the experience at East China. We love this place. I don't think you can go wrong giving East China a try.

Yelp
Always good. Always friendly. Best Chinese takeout I have found in 25 years in Montgomery.

Yelp
They give you a owl of crispy wontons and sauce when you sit down. Yummy sauces. Egg roll was very good. And lots of good kid friendly options.

Mike M.

Yelp
The food here is consistently good. In fact, they have some of the best hot and sour soup in town. If you ask, the cooks will season to your taste. Service is always excellent and carry out is usually ready in about 10 minutes.
