East City Chinese Food Take Out

This was honestly the best old school Can Chinese food. Portions and prices were awesome. Cantonese chow mien had the freshest veg and tons of meat. Chop suey sprouts fresh with crunch. Consume was nostalgic. You can call for fast delivery from restaurant, save yourself half a mill on other delivery services.

Good Christmas Day meal. My husband enjoys it more than I do but it’s a good place to eat. The sweet and sour sauce is too runny and we didn’t get any soy sauce with the meal. Service is always friendly.

Ordered on DoorDash, waited 2 hours for them to cancel my order. While I do understand it’s New Year’s Day, if the restaurant cannot handle incoming orders they need to turn off the option to order. Super unimpressed, I didn’t care how long it took. Just wanted the food.

Friends recommended this place. Unfortunately, this was the worst Chinese food we have ever had. The owners are lovely and very nice, so I feel bad writing this. Egg rolls and Spring rolls tasted like dish soap inside. Garlic shrimp had 8 tiny shrimp, and lots of over cooked vegetables, but the sauce was tasty, but too salty. The Honey Garlic ribs looked like they were boiled to death with garlic. No sauce and the meat was as hard as a rock or rubbery! Maybe it’s new owners or a new cook, maybe they are cutting corners! I will not be back!

Terrible! Do not order. I ordered on skip and the food was inedible. I couldn't even eat it and no refund either. Went to bed hungry. Such a disappointment and very upsetting. Hot and sour soup is a joke. Tasted like celery water with a bit of corn starch. Who would serve this up and claim it is hot and sour????????

The best Chinese food we have ever had. Huge portions, wonderful taste, lots of meat and fresh vegetables.

A huge let down the inside of chicken balls are gross almost like not cooked. General Tao chicken is lacking chicken. Rice was ok. Expensive and wouldn't spend my money on it again. Ordered online for delivery.

Ordered through skip a few times as we like it usually, but I was shocked with the combo playe with beef and broccoli today. A huge bunch of broccoli with three thin mini pieces of beef. Definitely not what expected. Also, chicken fried rice had rice and huge chunks of onion wth occasional pieces of chicken in it. What happened??

The food here is wonderful under the newer ownership. Also, they try very had to work with the customer and everyone I know that has eaten from here has loved it. The menu is varied, the prices modest and the food...FANTASTIC! Don't let the obviously false negative reviews stop you from ordering from here, there's clearly something else going on and let me assure you that the food is wonderful, flavourful, hot and delicious! I could not give a higher recommendation!

I so wanted to love this place since I've been looking for a great Chinese place in Hamilton. The breaded shrimp we're good the sweet-and-sour sauce was mediocre. The garlic beef was OK and the general Tso chicken was terrible. The rice and noodles were fine nothing special. Not sure if I'd ever come here again

East City was my go to Chinese Take Out place for over 15 years. Their food was always top notch & never one complaint (other than the service taking longer than I would like) but it was expected & you just learned to deal with it. Im not sure what happened... I ordered sometime in the new year & was shockingly disappointed. This is not the East City Ive been eating at for the last 15 years; Im going to assume its under new management or they hired a new chef. This is the reason I went on my hunt for a new Chinese Take Out place. I do not have the heart to give anything less than a three because they have provided years of excellent food & service. Im really hoping it was just a hiccup; Im willing to go back & try it out again; if its what i experienced in the new year; than I will sadly have to let this place go.

Extremely poor service. Waited over 3 hrs for my order and it still wasn't ready. Went somewhere else and was served in 20 minutes.

waited 2 and a half hours for a delivery phoned 5 times to see where it was finally phoned to cancel order driver showed up well I was on the phone with her she gave us 12 dollars off a $62.60 dollar order food was cold and things that should have a crisp to them were soggy never again will we order from this place .

We ordered from here because it was a lazy Saturday and nobody felt like cooking. So yadda yadda yadda we order some rice, some asian noodle dish and whatever thinking it's gonna be your typical asian food. Boy did they prove us wrong. With the first bite I instantly knew this place was my new go-to take out place. The chicken was delicious, the ratio of sauce to noodles was on point and the whole experience was overall amazing. Never again will I settle for any other asian food. My heart belongs and always will belong to East City Chinese Food Take Out.

Food is good, the wait time for food is about as average as other Chinese food places and the staff are professional. I live across the road and when my friend was pregnant (lives in same building) she didn't feel like walking over (especially after work) and they would still deliver it across the road (for free too).

Normally we call and pick up our order and pay cash to save some money. We always order enough for at least 6 people and the food lasts us for 2 days. Today because of the bitter cold we decided to have it delivered. When you order for pick up you must expect food for 6 to take awhile. It usually takes 15 to 30 minutes longer then the estimated time they tell you depending on how many walk in's they get for orders for one or 2 people. They tend to try and get them out faster. If you've ordered there often especially Thursday to Sunday you expect delays. We find the food superior to other Chinese take out restaurants on the east mountain so we don't mind the wait. Today with our food being delivered to us for the first time it was actually here in less time then the estimated time they told us. So if you don't want to drive around looking for parking and sometimes wind up across the street then sit around in there little waiting area and you don't mind losing the cash discount give delivery a try.

Ordering here for New Years for years now but no more. Prices went up 25% and quantity went down at least 25%. Quality was average, ribs sucked.

I wish I could tell you how the food was. We placed an order and have waited more than a hour in the takeout area. :(

Love this place for the price u get lots of food. For 2 people we spend 40 and it lasts 3 days. Very friendly staff.
