Redefining Bagels! Guys you need to try this place!! You will fall in love with Bagels. This is a whole new level. Props to Sterling!! He had the most amazing patience explaining Bagels. Aurelio is a master chef!! Just think about going to eat an average bagel sandwich and you just come out with a surprise!!! Check this out and see it for yourselves!!

Google
Really great bagels! Really great execution of the new york style bagel. My only wish is that they had more cream cheese flavors, but as-is, it's the best bagel in the conejo valley.

Google
I really want to like this place as it is the closest thing to a NY bagel in the area. One thing you can’t do if you are a bagel place is be skimpy with your cream cheese. The past few times I’ve visited, they put virtually no cream cheese on the bagel. First time this happened I thought it was a fluke but then it happened again and again. Very disappointing to spend almost $5 and eat plain dough.

Over sitting on the patio. Bagels were good. I like mine bit chewy, these were not.

Google
This is hands down my favorite bagel establishment. They provide freshly baked bagels throughout the day and the variety is fantastic. My favorites are the jalapeno bagels and the everything bagels. I take them to my office once a week and everyone thoroughly enjoys them. The staff is super nice and always helpful. They also sell day old bagels at a sizable discount. They offer some sandwiches and have a cooler full of various types of whipped cream. The chive and the almond are my two favorite whipped cream versions.

Ryan Russell

Google
Bagels were alright, but the place is just very off-putting. I'm always a little skeptical of places that have signs everywhere with rules. $10 for a bagel with cream cheese, recommending a 20% tip for counter service, unfriendly staff, and signs on the napkin dispensers saying take no more than 3 napkins per customer. No thanks, won't be back

Brandon Almudarris

Google
I love the food at this place but I really need to point out the service, the lady who answers the phone for pickups is extremely slow. After every bagel you order she will say “hold on” wait 3 mins before you can tell her the next bagel, then they tell you that you can skip the line but since they don’t have any pickup window or special phone order pickup line, everyone looks at you like you just cut them. The employees working the register never ask if you’ve already ordered or paid on the phone or not so they just say “next” and take the next person in line instead of acknowledging you at all. The food quality is amazing I love the bagels here cuz they are freshly baked but that’s why I rated it 3 stars. I would like to see more enthusiasm and more helpful employees since customer service is the only thing they lack.

Google
Best bagels in the area as far as I’m concerned. Only one visit though.. had a toasted onion with turkey, tomato and cukes.

Yelp
Okay so I am so glad we found this place. There is no yum yum or winchells around this area so this place is a gold mine for me. I've tried other bagel shops and this is the by far the best. They have so many bagel options that are delicious and they have hot sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, shakes even cream cheese and salads like chicken salad and tuna salad for purchase. The service is always great and fast. The restaurant is always clean 10/10 I will now be a regular.

Yelp
Calling this "East Coast Bagel" honestly feels like an affront to anyone who has actually lived on the East Coast and eaten these bagels many times before. The bagels are gross and lackluster, nothing says East coast bagel to me. Went in on a 1230 Saturday afternoon, there were many people working there, but the line literally didn't move for 10 minutes. The service was poor and didn't feel friendly. I simply ordered just 2 everything bagels with cream cheese, not toasted - and that wasn't even done correctly despite it saying the request on the ticket. $9 later I wasn't going to wait AGAIN to have my order remade. Then when getting home, a mountain of cream cheese was pouring out (although many places do this) but the bagel lacked flavour, somehow the everything part of it was way too salty, the bread was chewy, and not in the good way that you want bagels to be. I really don't like to leave bad reviews, but this was awful. When my husband tasted it, he also had a gross reaction to the taste and texture of the bagel and wound up throwing it away. I'm glad I didn't wind up going for the lox, which is one of our favourites at a bagel shop. Please save your money and just buy the bagels from a grocery - it would cost less and might taste better. Or better, make the drive to Camarillo for Old New York Deli. Totally worth it and very much like a proper East Coast Bagel along with everything else there.

Yelp
After spending time on the east coast and having family from New York, the title of this restaurant caught my eye! It's hard to find real bagels in California that match the East coast flavor! This shop delivered on taste! The bagels were good! And smelled good too: as soon as you walk into the shop you are greeted with the smells of fresh bagels! The menu is a bit pricey. Bagels are a dollar and seventy cents. The lox bagel sandwich was fourteen dollars and fifty cents. I thought for this price there should be more lox on my sandwich. I think the tomato on my sandwich was thicker than the amount of lox on my sandwich. My friend had a bacon, cheese egg sandwich, and this seemed to be a better value than my sandwich. We also had a blended drink that was a bit icy but was corrected when brought back to the counter. This place is quite popular on the weekend. There was line that went out the door when we arrived at 10:30am. The line moved pretty quickly. Inside the shop there is only a couple small tables. Outside there are plenty of tables. Despite the price, I enjoyed my bagel experience!

Rob S.

Yelp
Was passing by on an early Sunday afternoon and realized I hadn't really eaten yet, and was instantly hungry. Suddenly, a bagel seemed perfect and well, why not a bagel on an early Sunday afternoon? The place is decorated by college pennants and college basketball paraphernalia. While Westlake Village is not a college town, this bagel shop has a college town vibe mixed with a quaint old bagel joint in 1970's New York City vibe. Okay, nice. They have seats inside but also a nice outside terrace, shared with the burrito shop next door. I ordered a Christine's Creation-"Turkey Club" on an onion bagel. And it was tasty and freshly made. The avocado and bacon especially hit the spot. My only demerit is that the bagel sandwich was pretty diminutive along with being $12. Big bagel sandwich price for a tasty, but small, bagel sandwich. Hence 4 and not 5 stars. But again, it was tasty and fresh.

Jen B.

Yelp
On an errand in Westlake we searched for breakfast sandwiches and found East Coast Bagel. Thought we'd pick up breakfast and then saw a large patio - added bonus so we could sit with our dog and eat. Little did I know this place typically has quite a line! I lucked out and got in line right at the doorway. Pretty soon there were 6-8 behind me. It took a while but the breakfast bagels were piping hot when we opened them and very good! Tip - order ahead and just walk in to pick up. We both got the Egg and Lox - a two egg omelette with lox, onions, and smear on toasted everything bagels. Delish. Worth standing in line, which went reasonably fast.

Kathy C.

Yelp
My husband and I come here just about every weekend. The bagels are amazing. I'm partial to the everything bagel with lox cream cheese spread. He enjoys the cheesy jalapeño bagel. Service is friendly, they know your name and your favorite order. Great staff. The owner and her daughter are both frequently working here as well. Ambulance is casual and low key. We tend to prefer the patio but there is indoor seating as well. Great place to- five stars!

Brian P.

Yelp
I'll preface this that for the weekend bagel this is my go to place. The bagels are generally better quality than the other specialty bagel stores in the area. On the weekends , the lines definitely are long and I do highly recommend calling in your order so you can skip the line. The service is genuinely friendly, I always feel bad because they seem to have limited space for the amount of orders they're getting in especially on their busy days. It's because of the long wait times that it's not quite a 5 for me, you can buy a bagel for less and faster, and so there are a lot of direct competitors with tradeoffs of speed , price, convenience, and quality. This is probably one of the few places in the area that have the satisfying east coast* bagel experience, but still has a west coast vibe to it. I could do with more schmear on my bagels for example. The bagels themselves are still far away from what I consider to be a good east coast bagel. For the options in the area this is a good place with a variety of bagels. But if you hate long lines and aren't a big bagel fan to begin with it's not a place I'd go out of my way for.

Maddy T.

Yelp
Always great service and food. Mariana is a particular rockstar!!! Love that they have lox cream cheese.

perry b.

Yelp
Never going again I asked for a Italian sandwich on a pretzel bagel and they said "No". I could pick any other bagel but not pretzel They could not tell my why but when I pressed them they said they would charge me and extra 10 bucks just for the bagel So 20 bucks for a 10 dollar sandwich I don't think so

Hessian P.

Yelp
Their bagels are a bit larger than the competitors, and they have a nice chew, but I am not as fond of their everything bagel as I am of others. Never disappointed though.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
closes up pretty early , stopped by about 2:10 and they didn't have any plain egg bagels but they wanted to sell me the daily leftover of the onion bagels. I declined . will be back in area pretty soon so maybe try again. hey they could sell bagel sandwiches in the afternoon if they didn't roll up their sidewalk so early .

Kristi A.

Yelp
I don't know anything about east coast vs. west coast bagel. What I do know is these bagels are fresh and delicious. And if you hit it in the a.m. they'll still be warm, which is an extra star for me :) the staff is helpful and will make suggestions if you can't decide. Also lots of different flavors of cream cheese! Should hit the spot for either your sweet tooth or a savory bite.

Diann B.

Yelp
Really thick bagels! They were tasty. Hubby had the Cheesy Jalapeno and I had the Onion bagel. We bought extras to take home. The line was long which is always a great sign, right? 4 stars because they were a bit too thick for me.

Kasi C.

Yelp
The employees at East Coast bagel are so helpful and professional. I've been several times recently and am always so impressed with their service and pleasant demeanor. Well done East Coast Bagel

Summer W.

Yelp
These are my absolute favorite bagels in the area. The people that work there are so kind and friendly. My favorite thing to get there is the iced latte and the plain bagel with plain cream cheese. The inside is small and loud but it cutely decorated with flags for different universities. Feels very small town bagel shop.

Kevin F.

Yelp
Good bagels and good coffee, but kind of crummy that they are closed on Mondays. I had to go to Western Bagel instead.

Venice B.

Yelp
This morning was a bit disheartening. I was told my bagels couldn't be sliced because the team was 'too busy,' with the comment, 'Look at all the orders!' I understand how demanding the work can be, but I've always appreciated how consistently you've taken care of my orders, even when things were hectic. Hopefully, it was just an off day.

nicole m.

Yelp
Older blonde lady cashier is rude not approachable no Hi whatsoever when being greeted.

Deanne H.

Yelp
Want the best bagels!? Look no further. I highly recommend calling and ordering ahead unless you have time to be patient. Bagels are always fresh and cream cheese is perfect. They pay attention to every detail. Cute outdoor seating would be great for kids. Gluten free bagel options (but be aware it's a bagel shop and crumbs are everywhere) The best order: "Jen special" -*note it's not on the menu and you can't YET order it by name... maybe some day soon* Veggie special- sesame (or preference) scooped and toasted- no Mayo or mustard- substitute chive cream cheese- provolone and Swiss cheese (or preference) all veggies.

Dan M.

Yelp
First, call or order ahead if you're not eating there. The lines can get long, but they go quick. They have nearly every bagel I can think of. Get the cream cheese of whatever flavor or type from the case, rather than have them add it as part of the order. I had about 1 TB for two bagels and to me that's a little shy of a proper schmear. Service is top notch. Very friendly and attentive. Ambiance is great if you're outside on a sunny morning hanging out at one of the little tables. But it's a legit bagel shop and we go there all the time even if the line can be long. There's a reason!

M K.

Yelp
Bagels are always fresh and the sandwiches are great! The staff is always super friendly and probably the best bagels in ventura and la county.

Ron W.

Yelp
Seen this place for years and never been in until the best friend said, hey let's do lunch here! They have a diverse menu of hot and cold sandwiches, which took me a while to decide. Once I settled on the decision, ordered and waited, I nibbled on my friend's chocolate bagel with cream cheese. I usually don't like anything other then everything, egg or onion bagels. That was a really great treat! I was surprised I liked a sweet flavored bagel. My sandwich came out great and the star of the show was the everything bagel. I would eat here again if I get there in time. Possibly get a dozen of bagels to go.

Robert F.

Yelp
Terrible service. Waiting in line is not an issue but when I finally get to the front and start ordering bagels someone else comes in and asks for their phone order. Instead of finishing my order the person then walk around looking for the other person order. Terrible!

Jaxson S.

Yelp
I love their sandwiches, but I can not stand when they disconnect the phone line. It's very inconvenient. Especially when I need to edit my pick up order.

Rachel A.

Yelp
Just conducted a blindfolded taste testing of the plain bagels at the top four recommended bagel places in the Thousand Oaks/Westlake area (don't ask), and East Coast has the best tasting bagels in the area. I took my bagels to go, so I cannot speak much on the customer service, but I was in and out in maybe two minutes. Super quick service. The plain bagel doesn't look too exciting, so I am including a picture of the East Coast pretzel/pletzel instead!

Alan Jr R.

Yelp
Super long line out the door but I can see why, bomb bagels with the bacon egg and cheese is a must. I've been on the east coast for a long time and this place would hold its own over in Brooklyn. A bit slow for my liking but worth the wait

Nijole T.

Yelp
Wonderful family run business! The bagels here are fantastic! Service is friendly and welcoming, their prices are fair and they have a great variety of bagels available. They keep very well, you can just freeze them and toast one as needed. They also have sandwiches, drinks available for purchase to enjoy there. Highly recommended for a great breakfast in the area!

John J.

Yelp
I LOVE this place! The bagels are some of the best around and the bagel sandwiches are to die for! 5 stars!

Cara W.

Yelp
As New Yorkers, we have found our perfect west coast bagel shop. We will definitely be back, and recommend for all to try! Perfectly toasted, and right amount schmear. Thank you!

Chris J.

Yelp
This sandwich was packed with egg and cheese but it really wasn't too flavorful. It was pretty bland and honestly had too much cheese. I like the idea here but it's all just a bit too much, including the price. On the menu it said this sandwich was 6$ but when I went to pay, I ended up giving them 7.50$ For a breakfast sandwich!! That's too much for me.

Eileen ..

Yelp
I've gone here twice. Once it was great and once it was good. The bialys are great but to me didn't work as well with the lox and cream cheese. They put way too much cream cheese on them once i paid for double lox. Anyhow the portion was generous and I would come again.

Claudine P.

Yelp
Great bagels. Always busy and friendly people. I crave bagels always. Ham and bagels my favorite. 5 star.

Eileen M.

Yelp
One day I was driving along the freeway on my way to oxnard and suddenly I craved a bagel and found this one on line. It was getting close to their closing time so they had run out of bagels. At first I was a bit bummed but then they said they had an onion bialy. I gotta say I am so happy they ran out of bagels as the bialy was AMAZING! The only bummer is I don't live closer or they would be seeing me on a regular basis!! So so good

Julie S.

Yelp
Their turkey salad on a bagel with the works is my absolute favorite for lunch! Sounds silly, but I was sad to see the chicken salad go but they replaced it with the turkey salad which is awesome! The young kids working there are delightful - no attitude! The cream cheese spreads are delicious, and everyone's happy at home because there are so many flavor choices for the bagels themselves. Always fresh and have the right amount of chew.

Emma G.

Yelp
I was impressed with how fresh these bagels are. I don't know if I just happened to come at a good time, but they were soft and warm, perfectly good on their own without needing toasting or anything. I got a variety for my coworkers and I along with three types of cream cheese. They were out of hot chocolate this morning and charged $3 for a cup of hot water and a tea bag.... but I'll be back for the bagels themselves. Super fast and easy!

Jillian G.

Yelp
I thought the bagel sandwiches were great. I got the BEC on everything and added cream cheese. My bagel was not as coated in everything seasoning as I would have liked, but it had a good salty flavor that paired well with the filling. I thought the patio was the best part--it was such a stunning day and I loved spending it outside with a good bagel in hand. The wait was not too long, and they announced the orders as they were ready over the microphone. All in all a solid experience!

Danielle G.

Yelp
I emailed and left a message a day apart for a large catering order, but they do not return messages or emails. Western Bagel got my business instead. Bummer.

Lily G.

Yelp
My first time here. Got the lox and egg on a spinach Parmesan bagel. The bagel had a satisfyingly crispy top but made it hard to bite through the sandwich. Will definitely try this place again since there's ample outdoor seating and also dog friendly. Not too busy if you get here early. We watched a lot of people come in for large orders of bagels and cream cheese.

Michael T.

Yelp
Bagels are the size of truck tires. Also East Coast Bagel ran out of blueberry and egg bagels when I last visited them.

Josephine G.

Yelp
Ordered California chicken sandwich on a cheesy jalapeño bagel and the chicken was super dry. I took out the chicken and it became a good sandwich.

Pradeep D.

Yelp
Amazing choice, fast moving and best bagel and sandwich choices. We had bagel of month with honey cream cheese and everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese.. yummy!

Elaine H.

Yelp
This place is great! I didn't even know this existed in Westlake but my dad recommeded we go in for a breakfast. We got the lox bagel sandwhiches and they were great- lots of flavor and not too salty, unlike other lox bagels I've had. I'd want to explore the rest of the menu, and even try just a bagel with cream cheese. Their coffee is ok, but they do have a wide selection. The prices are pretty cheap and the quality is really present in everything from the bagel itself to all the other ingredients. Will definitely be stopping by another time!

Bethany P.

Yelp
Excellent bagels and coffee, but not an option when time is of the essence. Line usually to the door (though they work very quickly) and no one answers the phones to take pickup orders.

Elisa H.

Yelp
Probably the nicest bagel place in Westlake Village. The folks working here are terrific as are the bagels. So many varieties to choose from, onion, everything, wheat, egg, cinnamon raisin, sesame, plain, chocolate and yes, you read that right chocolate, poppy, blueberry, salt, jalapeño, wheat everything, bialy, rye, pumpernickel, garlic, tomato, basil, sourdough, cranberry, Asiago, cheesy jalapeño, cheesy bagel, spinach parmesan, pretzels, pletzels and bagel chips. You can order a sandwich or a toasted bagel for here or to go. There's also a nice patio if you were to bring a furry one along with you or you can eat inside. After 23 years in the area, the folks here know the pulse of their customers and they provide. Highly recommend.

Eugene B.

Yelp
Dear You, It's 7:24am. This is a mom & pop kinda place. I assume the sports pennant flags, banners, caps, etc. that covers these walls have nothing to do with bagels. It's simply something the owner likes? That's the beauty with the mom & pop shop approach. Doesn't have to make total sense. Anyways, the West Coast Beggel is what I'm eating now. Omelette, cheese, turkey, ham, bell peppers, and onions. All on an onion bagel. A little bland for my taste. But as I'm thinking of my mom and her senior years and dietary needs, I'm good with this. Just get the hell up and grabs a packet of salt. Easy peasy! The Kona coffee is not the real deal obviously. But that's ok. I'm diggin' the vibe yo:) Get in here and give it a try. Lots of choices. And it goes beyond bagels. Hot and cold sandwiches and salads and smoothies. Lots of ands! Best regards, Eugene

Bailey B.

Yelp
I'm so happy we stumbled upon this gem of a bagel shop in Westlake! We got there around 11:30am on a Saturday and many of their popular bagels were sold out, so go early to make sure they have the whole selection. The bagels were great! We tried the cheesy jalapeño, sesame, and bialy. The bialy was interesting because it's a super soft onion bagel that is not boiled before it's baked. We LOVED the honey almond cream cheese. It was the lightly sweet with slices of crunchy almonds throughout. I would love to try it on a cinnamon raisin bagel! We also loved the blended spiced chai latte. It was heavily spiced, but it a very good way! I definitely recommend you stop in for a delicious, cheap breakfast. Tip: ask them to go easy on the cream cheese because they really slather it on!

Matthew H.

Yelp
Big sign inside that says call and order ahead, when you call it leads to a message saying they can't take your call/order.

Janelle J.

Yelp
Cream cheese was delicious. Bagel itself was nothing special. Lady at the front kind of rude and abrupt.

Sharen H.

Yelp
Excellent bagels-great sandwich options-pricey but worth it! Cute outdoor seating. Be patient if the line is long, they are efficient!
