Richard met us on Labor Day weekend and was most helpful. He gave us a museum tour of his coffee roasting business. He explained the differences between all of the numerous fresh coffees he roasts at his facility. We chose Costa Rico, Kenya, and Columbian coffees. All of these coffees were the best tasting and freshest coffees we ever tasted in our lives. Richard will meet customers at his facility at their convenience. We can see no reason to ever buy coffee from any other place. Maureen & Stephen.

We bought espresso beans half an hour ago and came home to try them immediately. The espresso was phenomenal. Richard was so knowledgeable and great to talk to, we learned so much and couldn’t wait to try the coffee. For the past few weeks, we have been trying to pull a good shot but couldn’t do it with any other coffee bean brands, and as soon as we tried this, we were stunned. We drank it black, which I usually don’t do. Richard is excellent and truly a master at his craft. If no one is there just give him a call and he will be there so quickly! It's amazing to have someone so passionate about their product and quality! We will only be buying from him now.

Amazing coffee. Insanely fresh. The owner was extremely helpful. You can tell he takes pride in in his craft. We will be back!

Google
Best beans in town! If you want high quality coffee, get your beans here. Richard is so obsessed with the quality of his product, it’ll be impossible for you to go back to getting coffee anywhere else. I have my favorites—Ethiopia, PNG, Costa Rica, but every other type I have tried is superb. Fresh, flavorful, aromatic. That’s the only drawback—it’ll be hard to enjoy any other coffee. Call in advance—he’s a one man show and as much as he tries to be there all the time, be nice and give him a heads up you’re coming by:)

Finally!!! I’ve been looking to replicate the awesome experience I had in a recent Europe trip; anywhere we went we were served fresh delicate delicious espresso with beautiful crema. Every where I tried getting the same in NY it’s been a disappointment. I met Richard at his roasting shop and I have nothing but beautiful things to say. I went in to buy a pound of espresso beans and ended up getting a free coffee bean history lesson. I stayed for a whole hour listening to this passionate fellow while he was roasting a new batch. I finally got real fresh coffee beans that don’t need a pressurized basket to get tasty beautiful crema as it is supposed to be. Thank you sir.

Google
Freshest coffee beans you can get anywhere near here. Richard was super nice and had a lot of knowledge about coffee. I will be purchasing from him again!

Google
Stopped by for several bags of coffee to giveaway to friends and family. I must of spent over an hour chatting with Richard about coffee while he gave me a tour of the facility. He is very knowledgeable about coffee and has a true passion for his craft. Needless to say the coffee is excellent and very flavorful. Will be visiting again!

Google
I have been on the search to find high-quality, fresh coffee beans. I finally found where to purchase! All single origin coffee from various locations. Rich took the time to "educate" me on the different coffees. While I love coffee...I didn't know there was SO much I didn't know! I bought 2 different ones (Brazil and Columbian). I can't wait to try others! He truly is passionate, knowledgeable and skilled. It shows in his products. If you want great coffee (ground or whole beans)..this is your place.

Yelp
I'd like to refer to myself as a coffee connoisseur ;) In our house, coffee brewing is a cultural & social way of life...from Italy to Spain and places in between, I've sampled many a macchiato! East Coast Roast has been on my radar for a while now and I finally had the pleasure of indulging in my first cup of their Costa Rica-Tarrazu! This description is profile precise: Medium roasted with a fruity aroma...notes of tart lemon, milk chocolate & honey still residing on my pleased palate. Looking forward to expanding my coffee collection with orders from East Coast Roast

Yelp
Stopped in here to pick up some coffee and was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of the beans and hospitality! Definitely swing by and give these beans a try, they're fresh and best in the area.

Yelp
I have been looking for a local roaster since starting on my coffee journey and today I visited East Coast Roast in nearby Island Park. Richard is amazing. He gave me a tour of the facility and an education as well. Such a friendly guy!. I purchased two types of coffee, one for espresso ("MOORSE CODE ESPRESSO") and one for pour overs and french press ("COSTA RICA - TARRAZU"). I eagerly drove home to taste them. First the pour over. Wow! this is just what I had been looking for, a full body medium roast with a smooth and delicious taste and no bitterness at all. I normally drink pour overs with milk and sugar but this was so good I drank it black so as not to mask any of the full coffee experience. Next I brewed a shot of espresso and made a latte. Again I'm blown away at how good Richard's coffee is. I've found the best source for my coffee beans going forward. What a gem this place is.

Yelp
I've been searching for good coffee beans in long island for a while now. At first i went to starbucks reserve roastery where the beens were literally 42$ for a half pound!!!!! At east coast roast , richard (the owner) greated me very pleasantly and even had the time and patience to explain the different coffee beans and how they are roasted etc. .Not only that , the beans only costed me 14$ for half a pound, and they were infinitely better than the starbucks reserve beans. I really wish that this place was more well known , so more people can get to taste some true, high quality coffee.

Yelp
We've been searching for good coffee beans for a while and came across East Coast Roast. The reviews are true! Rich and East Coast Roast are the best coffee beans around. If you love coffee, do yourself a favor and throw out the store bought beans and go visit Rich. His knowledge and passion for coffee are evident in each cup we brew! Go visit in person and call in advance!

Yelp
If you are looking for fantastic fresh roasted coffee, sourced from around the world, look no further than East Coast Roast. They provide some of the finest coffees I have ever tasted. You will never go back to super market or coffee shop coffee again. You will find a roast that satisfies every palate. Simply the best coffee you can purchase.

Yelp
Just superb selection and quality of coffees! The owner Rich is a delight, and very knowledgeable. Cold brew is delish too!

Yelp
Was tired of all the stale blended store bought beans sitting on a shelf that were roasted who knows when, as well as the over rated coffee at Starbucks which is blended half the time and just the lack of availability of a quality roast which created my desire to search for something better. That search ended when I found East Coast Roast. It's location is somewhat deceiving, in fact I almost left thinking I had the wrong place. That's when I meet Richard. Upon my arrival I asked if he sold to the public from this location or was there a retail location I missed. He said I was in the right spot, after parking Richard greeted me at the bay door entrance of his location (the area is surrounded by somewhat small warehouse's that are trucking products in & out daily and in the middle of this sits an unassuming Richard and East Coast Roast). Richard invited me in and took pride in showing me around, from the Jopler small batch Roaster he uses that comes from Portugal to the single source origin of the beans he uses to the finished product of the roasted beans and invited me to smell each one and enjoy the aroma and quality of each. Wherever your journey started to find a quality Roast, it ends at East Coast.

Yelp
I won't buy my coffee from anywhere else, and neither should you! In order to get the best coffee, it's got to be roasted correctly and fresh. I've tried coffee from many different local roasters, from all over NYC and Long Island, and the coffee from East Coast Roast is BY FAR the best. I prefer the Frank Sumatra with the Papua Don't Preach as a close second. Do yourself a favor and get a sampler pack (or two) and try a bunch of them to find your favorite. I know you will become a fan.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee beans and even better customer service. One of the most important factors to a quality cup of coffee is the freshness of the bean. If you're in the area, you absolutely need to be getting your beans from here. They are roasted to perfection and you'll be getting a batch that is fresh. If you're getting your beans from a supermarket shelf (or worse, Amazon) you have no idea how long they've been sitting there. You can order your beans whole or ground, and you can even choose how finely you want them ground (aka, if you use a french press, order them course). I prefer to grind my own, but it's a nice feature they offer. East Coast is my go-to for my daily brewing and I consider myself very fortunate to be living so close to a quality roaster. I toyed with the idea of roasting my own beans, but it's not worth the efforts considering how affordable East Coast is. Why mess with perfection? Rich, the owner, is just an all around great person and personally helped me as we came up with a gameplan to use his beans as a party favor for my wedding reception. I had personalized mini burlap sacks that he examined and figured out how to properly package the beans in. I was sad to give away the fabulous beans (I wanted to horde them for myself) but it was great working with him. His wife also works at the store, and is equally fabulous. A great product from a local family run store is all you could ever ask for. I love this coffee. I'm drinking it now as I write the review. I shudder when I see people wasting 4 bucks on a mediocre Starbucks cup. East Coast is the only way to fly!

Yelp
As a self proclaimed "coffee aficionado", I have been looking for a local roaster as an alternative to a coffee of the month subscription service I've been using for a long time. I'm so glad I stumbled upon East Coast Roast on a day off around the neighborhood. This place is a coffee lovers dream! Thank you Rich for the amazing tour of your facility, and showing me all the amazing coffee you procure from all over the world. Just the experience of going to the warehouse was worthy of 5 stars, but then I tasted the freshly roasted "Kenya Dig It" coffee, and I can honestly say it was the best cup of coffee I've ever had in my life!! I'm so thankful that I have such an incredible roaster so close to home, this is the only place I will get my coffee. East Coast Roast is a true gem!!!

Yelp
This is seriously the best coffee I've ever had. Roasted with true passion by a roaster who is knowledgeable and passionate about every bean. I'm telling you - try this coffee, and you won't ever buy other beans. My FAVORITE is Frank Sumatra!

Yelp
Owner is passionate and expert about his coffee. I smelled the coffee from a block away! Bought a few pounds and enjoyed them. Will definitely return

Yelp
Richard roasts fantastic coffee! If you want fresh coffee that is perfectly roasted and will settle for nothing less, than this is the coffee for you. I found this local gem through happenstance, and so happy I did. For years I have been getting my coffee through the mail from various gourmet roasters (Brooklyn Coffee, Boxcar, etc.). East Coast Roast is as good if not BETTER than the "fancy" premium coffee roasters. Do yourself a favor and only get your coffee from East Coast Roast!!! My favorites are: Frank Sumatra NY NY and Brazilian BFF.

John A.

Yelp
Am I glad I found this place. Richard knows his stuff and is passionate about the quality of his coffee. I've now tried 3 different kinds of his coffee and all were fresh, perfectly roasted, and high quality. Nothing better than freshly roasted and ground coffee to start your day.

Matt C.

Yelp
I met with Rich who is passionate about his coffee and is quite the coffee historian. If you live in the area and you love coffee and you are not buying your coffee from a roaster and getting it fresh (does your store bought coffee show the origin and roasting date?), then you are missing out on a great cup of coffee. Rich knows his beans and buys the best from all over the world. He will definitely have something to meet your tastes, beans or ground, and he even has Swiss Water processed decaf that tastes just as good as all the other coffee he roasts if you are a decaf drinker. His espresso is unique. I'll be buying my freshly roasted coffee here from now on. Keep it coming Rich and thanks for the tour/class!

Kelly Ann F.

Yelp
Local Coffee Gem. Owner knowledgeable and super friendly. Went in and gave me a full tour!

Jim M.

Yelp
Visited Friday with friends Joe and Lisa. Received an in depth coffee education by the owner Richie. There's a lot more to coffee then we believe. I got a little tired of the same old "Grind" of coffee, Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks everyday. Dinner coffee is awful. Wake up New York, this coffee at East Coast Roast will open your eyes to real brewed coffee right here in Island Park. I took home three 1/2 pounds as a tasting, all brewed Thursday, yes the day before my visit. I'm done with Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. Come taste what you've been missing.

Yelp
East Coast Roast has my favorite locally and freshly roasted coffee in NY. They roast every week, and the Frank Sumatra is my favorite... You can pick up at the warehouse or they can ship.. They also sell at local farmers markets on Long Island.

Yelp
Fantastic Coffee Beans from all over the world! Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Brought my daughters there and the whole process was explained to them from nuts to bolts. Just a great overall experience. If you are a Coffee Lover this is the place to buy your beans from whether you are a business or an individual. Just phenomenal!!!!!

Yelp
Fantastic dark roast. Sleek packaging. The smell alone will get you hooked. 10/10 and I'm a coffee snob
