This new bakery is East Durham has scratch made pastries that are really tasty. The best item that I had today was the Morning bun, but the scones and croissant were also terrific. The interior is well lit and cozy with fresh flowers on each table and a broken in design vibe. The people who run the bake shop are really friendly and helpful. Parking is kind of what you can find in the area although it looks like there is a parking lot across the street down a little further on South Driver.

East Durham Bakeshop did an amazing job on the pies we ordered for our daughter's wedding reception at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. They were incredibly delicious and the customer service was outstanding. Although you can also get mini pies and galettes, we chose to get whole pies and the caterer cut them for us as well as provided whipped cream. Ben and Ali were very helpful when it came to choosing the amount and type of pies. My family also ordered several pies ahead of time and had a pie tasting party. So much for my diet...The hardest part of the entire process was deciding on the flavors as they were all so delicious! We ended up with blueberry lattice, honey bourbon pecan and chocolate espresso. Our guests raved about the look and taste of the pies. I'm so happy we went with East Durham Bakeshop! Thank you!!

This place is so cute and charming! There was a long line when I came in, but the staff are really great at getting people through quickly (while still giving great service) I ordered a latte and a slice of pecan bourbon pit. The latte was delicious! My pie was pretty good too --- the crust was exceptional, but the filling wasn't as good as some others I've had. I'll be trying a fruit filling next time I come. It's a cute place to work too, there's pretty fast wifi and lots of tables.

Wonderful selection of goodies you cannot go wrong. Come again and try it all. Great atmosphere. Beautiful bright space with an open kitchen and friendly staff. Exciting to have the shop in the neighborhood.

First time in and we had the savory breakfast galette, chocolate croissant and apple pie. Everything was great, and the drip coffee was good as well. Highly recommended!

Not sure how this place has such high reviews. Based on recent ones, it seems maybe they've declined recently. Pros: outside is nice, they have a board inside where people can pay it forward and leave notes/free menu items for strangers. There were ones addressed to hungry people etc. Cons: customer service, quality, cleanliness, speed of service I had been wanting to come here for a while. It's close to my job but hard to make it here during the week. It's far from home so hard on the weekend. I had called and spoken to someone a few months ago who sounded nice and knowledgeable (probably the owner). He said they always have fruit crisp available. We finally went there on a recent Sunday and were not impressed. Started off with slow service. We were the only ones in line, and of the 3 other people inside, only one was waiting for an Americano. We waited about 15 min for a latte and an Americano if our own. I can make these in 3 min each at home on a far cheaper machine. We had hoped to order pie, but they only had one kind by the slice, and it didn't look appetizing. I was hoping for some kind of fruit pie. They also didn't have crisp/cobbler, which contradicts what the guy I spoke to had claimed. The galette, cookie, and kale croissant were thrown on a plate and given to us right away. My wife had to go back to ask for an extra plate and silverware so we could split them. No one asked us how we'd like it served. Just, "for here or to go," like I'm at McDonald's. The young man did ask if it was our first time, to which we said it was. You'd think would be a clue to give us all the details, but read on... The drinks were delivered separately. It looked like they had a multi-group espresso machine, which means they should have the drinks ready at the same time. When the latte finally came out, the art looked like it had been drawn on by a 1st-grader with a stir stick. I can only do a heart myself at home, but it looks a lot better than that. It was pretty foamy, not microfoam, which again I can do at home. But she might just be learning, and the beans/extraction were good; so the taste of the latte was great, even though the texture wasn't. My wife made a mistake on her order and thought she had ordered a latte rather than an Americano. She went back, admitted it was her fault, and apologized for any inconvenience. She asked the barista for some cream, since there was none at the station. The young woman behind the counter was rude and made my wife feel worse about it; not at all gracious or warm. I had been waiting to eat until we got our drinks, and asked them to warm the kale croissant, but the young man (nicer than the 2 women at least) explained that they don't have any ovens... Seriously, a bake shop without ovens?! Nope, no way to warm things unless they come out of the warming case. This was never explained to us ahead of time. There's no sign up for this. The one saving grace was that the cookie tasted great. The galette was good, though on the edge of tasting stale, and could have been better had it been warmed a bit. If that had been it, it would have been fine, though disappointing overall. However, my wife found a hair in her kale croissant and we told the other young woman. She said, "oh, it's just an eyelash." (!!) I said, "my wife doesn't want to eat that." She didn't apologize, let alone offer to give another one or comp it. I really should have asked her if she is ok with eating other people's body hair, but I was just flabbergasted by her response. That was the last straw. We just got out of there as soon as we could. What a disappointment. The guy was the only one who was pleasant throughout the whole time we were there. The 2 girls looked like they didn't want to be there. Didn't smile at all. We drove 25 miles and gave a tip; the least you could do is be nice.

What a wonderful little gem in Durham. They have sweet items and savory ones too. My family and I stopped there on the way to South Carolina , definitely worth rerouting our trip to go to one of my Instagram places. The customer service is great as well. We ate a gaggle and took a bag to go! #lovethisplace❤

Love, love, love the Bake Shop! The treats are delicious, but the savory items, coffee and tea options, and sunny ambiance exceed expectations! A perfect addition to the neighborhood.
