The Chinatown Takeout & Delivery Guide

"Open only since 2017, East Garden is a big Chinese restaurant located in a strip mall off Hill St. The menu is full of dishes like cashew chicken and beef with broccoli, but we recommend concentrating on dishes like chicken in lotus leaf (our favorite thing here) instead. Takeout and delivery available on most major apps." - brant cox, kat hong

The Ride-Along Report: First Takes From Last Night’s Dinner

"What it is: A big new Chinese restaurant in Chinatown Perfect for: Lunch East Garden is a pretty big new Chinese restaurant in a strip mall off Hill St. in Chinatown. The menu is full of standards like cashew chicken and beef with broccoli - plus a page of Hawaiian-influenced food like chicken in lotus leaf (our favorite thing here) - and it’s decent for a quick (but heavier) lunch. But it’s not somewhere we’d go out of our way to eat again. Verdict: Decent Chinese and Hawaiian-influenced food, with portions big enough to be eaten again at dinner." - jess basser sanders, brant cox, brett keating

During my last visit to Chinatown, my partner and some friends enjoyed a meal nearby, and I couldn’t help but notice the hustle and bustle of this restaurant. A couple of months later, we decided to give it a try, and I’m so glad we did—they did not disappoint! The restaurant was clean and inviting, and I was pleasantly surprised by the extensive menu. We opted for a mix of dim sum and a lunch special. The shiu mai and beef noodle roll were delicious, while the spare ribs could have been improved. That said, the pork chops were a bit on the salty side due to MSG, but they were incredibly flavorful and damn delicious! The service was good, typical of a chinese restaurant IYKYK Overall, I highly recommend this place and can’t wait to return!

It was actually pretty good. I liked my spicy garlic shrimp & sweet and sour fish. The crispy noodles were good too.

For being in the heart of China Town, it was not very busy at all. Great ambiance. Tasty, authentic Chinese food. Reasonable prices. Good size servings. Excellent service.

Stopped in before seeing a show near by and we enjoyed everything. The tea was a nice touch to bring out and was hot and really good. All of the food was flavorful and a nice portion to share. The egg roll were also great. Even got some mango custard at the end and it was a nice way to end a meal. Will visit again if I am back in town

We stopped for lunch-dinner before living Chinatown. The place was empty (on a Wednesday),except for takeout orders which kept being picked up. Their food is delicious and we plan to come back, we had tea before the meal such a delicious with notes of orange blossom and jasmine. Our meal somewhat was excessive since we wanted to try everything, we kept ordering but didn’t take pictures of the other items. However we recommend this restaurant has such good service and delicious food! There’s plenty of parking and price wise it was a fair amount to pay for such exquisite meal. We will be back soon!

Google
East Garden in Chinatown is a must-visit for dim sum lovers. Their shrimp dumplings are huge and juicy, while the fried dough is crispy and satisfying. The beef rice noodle rolls are soft and tender with just the right amount of sweet soy sauce. We also loved the walnut shrimp—creamy and perfectly paired with candied walnuts.

Google
This is the worst Chinese restaurant we’ve been to in a long time. Air conditioning wasn’t working. We were sweating bullets in there. This restaurant serves Chinese food for non Asians. That’s all I can say about their food. They do have authentic dishes listed on the menu. But they were not good at all. The staff were nice though. Everyone was friendly and cheerful. Without the good service, this would be a 1 star review from us. Sorry, I don’t recommend anyone coming here for food.

Google
Good Cantonese food! Enjoyed the Dim Sum items and the entrees. Probably the best I've had in some time. We went with some cousins and we all enjoyed it. The Chow Mein was perfect. The Beef dry noodles were enjoyable. I especially liked the Har Gow and the molten bao with yellow creme inside.

Yelp
First, parking is street or paid ($7 full day as of May 2025 on a Sat.), but the lot is right where the restaurant plaza is, so that's convenient. Next, it wasn't super busy at 11:30am on a Sat - most tables were open, though it did start picking up while we were eating. Service was quick, and we got everything we needed. Tea and bowls for congee were brought out to us as soon as we ordered. The beef rice noodle roll and congee came out super quick, and the rest of the dishes came out a little over 10 min later. When we asked for soy sauce and chili sauce, they brought out soy sauce and chili oil right away. Now, for the food, in the order it arrived: -beef rice noodle roll: A small mountain of rice noodle - I love them, so I was happy to see how much it came with! The beef wasn't evenly distributed, or even inside the noodle roll (more of it was on the bottom), but it was solid. I'd definitely get this again. -preserved egg and pork congee: my partner loved this. The seasoning was perfect, so no soy sauce needed. The pork bits were solid, and the preserved egg was an interesting texture (like a more solid jelly?). -spare rib w/black bean sauce: some parts were meatier and tender, while others were a bit chewier and drier, but overall the flavor was solid, and we didn't have trouble finishing it. -shiu mai: my partner thought it was softer than he usually likes it. Not his favorite, but he finished it. -chicken feet: the flavor was solid, and in terms of texture, there's a slight chew rather than being fall-apart soft, but I think that's a personal preference. I didn't mind it, other than it being slightly more work to get it off the bone. We definitely loved the congee/rice noodle roll combo. The pricing for dimsum wasn't bad compared to what we're used to for dimsum in the SGV, so it made the amount we paid for parking seem ok. Overall, we enjoyed the food and can definitely see ourselves coming back for dimsum. The selection is pretty limited, but they have the dishes we usually get at dimsum, so it works out well for us.

Yelp
East Garden felt very average to me during our visit this past weekend. Hubby and I came around 12:30 on a Saturday and were seated immediately. We ordered a pork rice roll along with a shrimp rice roll- both were fine, nothing special. The sauce was the best part. The homestyle vermicelli noodles were the tastiest item we ordered and they piled the noodles high! My husband likes the pork dim sum dumplings while I wasn't a fan. The broccoli with beef left a lot to be desired as it was heavily sauced and the meat was a tad too chewy. The prices were great and they have a parking lot that you can pay for. Bathrooms were clean enough, but I don't need to come back.

Yelp
Went there before mahjong night at General Lee's. I order the wonton soups because that's how I usually judge a new place I haven't been to that claims to be authentic Hong Kong style to see if it's a real deal. Yes , it is. Quick service but it was busy so food didn't take long. The only thing is that I ordered a thai tea and they don't make it themselves, they get it made by Quickly next door.

Yelp
Running errands in downtown with a family friend and she recommended one of her favorite spots for lunch- East Garden Restaurant. Luckily not too busy during the week for a late lunch so quickly sat. Took some time to get through their huge menu but decided on soup dumplings, honey walnut shrimp, chicken with mushroom, Thai tea and milk tea. Each came out steaming hot and rich in flavor. My favorite was the honey walnut shrimp! Only down side was the Thai and milk teas. Didn't taste like fresh made teas more so like a premade drink, expected a bit better in Chinatown. Apart from that, great meal!

Yelp
Hidden underneath of now defunct Ocean Seafood and even more ancient preceding Miriwa restaurants, East Garden is a down home eatery that serves a small list of Dim Sum all day as well as standard Cantonese fare. 1) Siu Mai: Plump, quenelles of ground pork with touch of oyster sauce, white pepper semi-wrapped in a thin wheat dough crêpes. Meaty, fatty, morsels taste fine except it's too overly sweet for a savory dish. 2) Jing Pai Gwut: Little pork riblets steamed with a bit of hoisin and Daut Tsi/ fermented black beans. Jagged bones and gristle are de rigueur and unavoidable. Good fibrous meatiness & porky hint of gaminess. Only wish that the black beans had more funky, fermented flavours as well as garlic to contrast to the fatty pork. 3) Rice Noodles Singapore Style was huge, mostly al dente, fine, thin rice vermicelli that had a solid powder curry aroma & taste with a touch of chile piquancy. Scrambled eggs, slivers of Char Siu, few cuts of green onion, paltry amount of bean sprouts, four shrimp round out the garnishes. It could have used slivers of bulb onions, and crunchy, sweet sour pickled scallions but that is asking for too much when it's going for only $11. At home, I added my own cilantro, garlic chives, pickled scallions. Like many Chinese eateries, service is not their strong suit. After I ordered, I waited. The order was left on the counter, and they didn't let me know as soon as it was ready. Prices here are cheap compared to other similar restaurants. Overall, 3+ stars.

Yelp
I came here for dim sum on a weekday, and ordered their Shrimp Rice Rolls, Steamed Chicken Feet, Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf, Steam Preserved Egg Yolk Buns, BBQ Pork bun, and the Preserved Egg and Pork Congee. The shrimp rice roll, BBQ pork bun, sticky rice, and egg yolk buns were fine. Nothing extraordinary, and you can tell it's not freshly made. Most likely heated up from frozen packages. The preserved egg in the congee was old and did not have an egg consistency at all. It tasted almost hard and broke apart very easily. When the Steamed Chicken Feet came, my sister told me "I smell something extremely bad right now." She thought it might've been someone's breath so she carried on and took a bite of the chicken feet. She spit it out right away and screamed, "THIS IS ROTTEN. IT'S GONE BAD.". I smelled the chicken feet myself and this was the only way to describe it: IT SMELLED LIKE ROTTEN SWEATY CLOTHES THAT YOU DON'T WASH FOR A WEEK AFTER YOU GYM. It had a sour stench, and I feel so bad that my sister put it in her mouth. The staff offered to comp the dish or exchange it for another, so we asked for them to exchange it for the spare ribs. Spare ribs were overcooked and dry. I feel like people only come to this place because their prices are unbeatable and it's been a family business in Chinatown for a long time. As an Asian American who grew up in Los Angeles, I can assure you this is NOT a good representation of what Chinese food should taste like. Prices are cheap, but at the cost of you possibly eating food that smells and tastes like your gym clothes.

Yelp
When it comes to traditional Chinese food, look no further than the bustling city that is Chinatown-LA! After getting a reccomendation to this location from my girlfriend's father, we decided to check it out on a sunny afternoon weekday. We were quickly seated and ordered the traditional classics: The Hainan Chicken and the Wonton Soup with Egg Noodles. The Hainan Chicken was served cold, akin to traditional Chinese cooking, which offered steaming hot rice, served with vegetables, cold Chicken w/ skin and chicken sauce. The sauce offers a sweet and aromatic texture to the dish, and the chicken is immersed with a packet a flavor! The Wonton Egg Noodles were super delicious and plentiful, enough to share for 2. The technique of the wonton wrapping was evident through the 20+ folds for the wontons, each with a delicate touch. Come to East Garden if you're looking for a quick meal at an affordable price!

Yelp
Venturing beyond San Pedro, I discovered a gem of a Chinese restaurant with a serene ambiance and truly authentic flavors. The classics--curry chicken with potatoes, beef and broccoli, Chinese broccoli, egg drop soup, and white rice--were expertly prepared and deeply satisfying. Our server, Iris, was warm and attentive, adding to the welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. A must-visit for those craving genuine Chinese cuisine. Thanks for reading

Yelp
The food is pretty on point here and their lunch special is definitely worth it, good service and attentive, with a more relaxed environment and Chinese background music, good place for lunch

Yelp
I have pretty mixed feelings about this spot. What I liked: * The service was great. Friendly staff and fast service. We were even treated to complimentary hot tea and dessert, which was a nice touch. * Prices were very reasonable, and portions were solid overall. * The food wasn't overly salty or heavy, which I appreciated. * Street parking on a Saturday night was surprisingly manageable. * The fried rice was a standout! really flavorful and loaded with shrimp. What didn't work for me: * It's advertised as a dim sum restaurant, but there was only one dumpling option on the menu. * The beef and broccoli dish was mostly just a plate of broccoli, carrots, and mushroom with a few thin slices of meat. I would say 10 maybe less. * Overall, the food could've used a bit more flavor, it just didn't leave a strong impression.

Juan F.

Yelp
The food was okay overall. The fried rice was probably the best part--flavorful and well-cooked. The Mongolian beef was just alright, nothing special. What really affected the experience was the service. A lot of menu items weren't available, and the server seemed rushed and inattentive, like they just wanted to leave. It didn't feel welcoming at all. I still paid the bill with the 15% gratuity, but it felt more like an automatic charge than a tip that was earned. Hopefully the service and availability improve, because the food has some potential.

Yelp
Food is good. Not salty and oily. Good portion. Service very good. Ambiance is fine. The interior of the place needs renovations and upgrade. No aircon when I ate there. Maybe they did not turn it on.

Yelp
Great place for family style Chinese food. Parking is easy - only $5 for all day. Service is fast, food comes out almost immediately upon ordering. Love the old school vibes when inside. I really liked the pea sprouts and whole steamed chicken. Definitely come here with a big group to try everything!

Yelp
Came here because it was the only restaurant that was opened at 8:20 am. We ordered the fish congee & soy sauce chow mein combo, roast duck noodle soup and sweet & sour pork with rice. The food took 40 minutes to come out but the server didn't tell us beforehand it was going to take that long. The congee & chow mein combo was only $9.99, which was quite worth the price & they were good too. The sweet & sour pork tasted authentic without any bones in all their pieces. The roast duck noodle soup reminded me like I was back in Chinatown in NY, the broth was flavorful & duck was tender. Besides the longer than normal wait time, all the food tasted great along with the cheap cost. We'll def come back again if we're ever in LA craving Chinese food for breakfast :p

Erika P.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Sticky rice in lotus leaves, soup dumplings, and Rolled noddle was excellent. They have a big variety of food too. I also loved the congee. We will totally be coming back!

Yelp
This place is so good and consistent, it's now part of my yearly foodie pilgrimage, lol. - located in Chinatown in case you had any doubts it's legit - lots of space & great for groups - 2 tables of 4 outdoors + 9 tables of 4 indoors + 3 large tables for big groups Food: 1. Preserved egg & pork congee: still 10/10 2. Beef chow fun: 9/10, just a little less balanced in taste this time 3. Lava Buns: so consistent, love that squirting sensation in my mouth with that delicious egg lava 4. Stir fried pea sprouts with garlic: 8.5/10, needed a little more wok hei 5. Half a Roast duck: 8.5/10, the only item that didn't match my expectations as it was a bit on the dry side today 6. Black Pepper beef: 12.5/10 so good!! I couldn't resist and got extra good for dinner for the next couple days and got this to go Parking: Has a parking lot in the back, $5 flat rate and you can park all day

Yelp
Great comfort Chinese food! Got the roast duck, spicy squid, and beef chow fun served with complimentary tea and a slice of watermelon at the end. Very satisfied. Service and ambience are mid (why the 4 star) but didn't come for that. Would definitely come back again.

Yelp
Best Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Much better than the ones on the Main Street. Delicious food, very satisfied with the classic noodles, Honey Walnut shrimp and spicy pork chop. Came on Chinese new year and will come for every Chinese new year. Good portion size for prices Food came out quick and no wait. Nice Chinese music in background.

Yelp
This hidden gem in the heart of Los Angele Chinatown has such great value and menu. They serve traditional Cantonese dishes and dim sum. One of the most juiciest roast duck. A whole steamed chicken is only $16 right now. They also have lunch specials starting at $11.99 and dim sum items starting at $4.99. Don't sleep on these deals. Service was excellent and friendly staff. What we got for family lunch. Soy sauce chow mein Bbq pork cheung fun Fish congee Stirfry garlic green beans Dim sum Ginger chicken Super juicy roast duck Scallop fried rice Salt and pepper calamari Chicken feet Steamed chicken

Myphuong L.

Yelp
We come here every time we're in Chinatown. Although it's affordable, the menu has changed. Dim sum prices are low at mainly $4.99 each. There's a package to select one item from A and one from B for $9.99. We got our usual of: -Shiu mai - small but tasty -Har gor - small but tasty and skin was in tact -Chicken feet - need to be steamed longer. Skin did not fall off the bones and still tough. -BBQ pork noodle roll - the outer flour rice noodle was too much and very few bbq pork. I'm used to a nicely wrapped roll like a burrito. This was like layers and layers of crepe. Still tasty but meat to noodle ratio was off. -Egg yolk buns - my mom loved these. The salted egg yolk inside oozed out when you cut into it. Overall, very affordable, on the smaller size due to the price and still tasty. We used to order salted egg chicken fried rice entree but it's no longer on the menu. I also asked if they had other options for dessert. They only have the egg yolk bun or sesame bun.
google avatar

Ves S.

Yelp
Good place for lunch! They have a lunch menu that's available practically all day. The special congee + sides combo is $9.99 and you get a nice bowl of congee with your preferred addons (preserved egg and pork is a favorite) and various rice noodle rolls or appetizers. They also have a bigger menu with more selections and photos too. We liked the Japanese style braised tofu with mushrooms. Parking can be a pain. There is an attached lot that is "free" but it's right next to a paid lot. We came on a Sunday so street parking meters and white/yellow are free!

Yelp
I stopped by on a Thursday evening around 8pm on the way up to West Hollywood. My husband and I had our dog with us, so we had to get our order to go. I saw that they were putting away chairs at tables that were outside right before we pulled up, so outdoor seating might be an option earlier in the day. We got the half Peking duck ($27.99), snow pea leaves with garlic ($17.99), beef chow fun with vegetables and gravy ($13.99), and fried tofu with spicy salt ($12.99). I had to try a piece of fried tofu while it was still fresh, and it burned my mouth, but it was so worth it!!! It was so delightfully crispy and savory with the most silky smooth and soft interior. The half Peking duck was just okay considering the taste and price, but everything else was such a great deal considering the huge portion size. The snow pea leaves were tender, delicious and loaded with garlic. Beef chow fun had good wok hei despite being the wet version (which is a bit harder to find having wok hei flavor in general), so I highly recommend it. They kindly packed the noodles separately from the gravy so that it wouldn't get all soggy. The Yelp check-in offer for a free egg waffle is old, and they no longer honor it. Parking is either street parking with a pay meter or adjacent parking lot for a flat rate. The restaurant was pretty empty when I came by (granted it was a weekday night), but people are definitely sleeping on this place!! This place is comparable to restaurants in 626/SGV and definitely better than anything I have had in OC, so be sure to stop by the next time you're in the area!

Yelp
There's nothing like a Chinese feast! I went to East Garden and enjoyed so many of their delicious dishes. Everything is served family-style, so expect large and shareable portions. We tried their crispy duck, beef short ribs, scallion pancake, wor wonton soup, Chinese donut (youtiao), siu mai, har gow, steam juice dumpling, bbq pork fried rice, supreme soy sauce chow mein, cha siu bao, chicken with cashew nuts, mapo tofu, tomato and scrambled eggs, and sautéed string beans. I loved the variety and everything was just perfect.

Yelp
We drove by Chinatown and decided to look for a place to eat a little something. The food was served hot just the way I like it. The beef congee texture was not too thick and it's perfectly seasoned. The beef Cheung fun is good, but not easy to grab with chopstick due to the skin's stickiness. The chicken feet was hot and yummy. The price is so good compare to other places. They have many other dishes ok the menu. This place is nothing fancy but it's worth coming. If you are craving something that would totally hit the spot, this is the place for you.

Yelp
In the mood for Chinese food to celebrate Lunar New Year but don't want to fight the crowds on the main streets, East Garden Restaurant is the spot. Sizable parking lot available for the shops in the plaza and surrounding area. Not packed at all. Servers were extremely welcoming and attentive. Decor is your typical Chinatown establishment. Not the cleanest but you go for the food, not the atmosphere. Lots of options including veggie options. We went in with an idea of what we wanted already so we placed our order within minutes of receiving our hot tea. Food was hot on our table pretty quickly and everything was tasty. Food: -Shrimp Shu Mai (a must) -Honey Walnut Shrimp -Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce (I could eat this all day) -Steamed Juicy Dumplings (not the best. I could have done without) -House Special Chow Mein East Garden is definitely staying on my list of alternatives when I have zero patience to wait at any other Chinatown location.

Yelp
The service was fast and polite. They start you off with a hot tea that had a floral essence. The chowmein was sooooo good the beef & chicken were so tender. The fried chashu was honestly mid. The breading had a hint of cinnamon or clove that put me off. My partner liked it but the pork cut was a little tough even for him. The strawberry smoothie tasted like nesquik. They did give us free mango dessert that was delicious.

Yelp
Today I treat myself to eat some of delicious Chinese food for lunch. The service was great and the ambiance is great too, and the foods were so delicious. I will come back here again next time

Yelp
What a hidden gem! I say hidden because I'd never heard of this place before, but it's in the middle of Chinatown and the food is AMAZING! The portions were huge and everything was so flavorful without being salty. It's not one of those huge dim sum places with carts like Ocean's next door used to be, but that also means the service is better. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We wanted Viet food for brunch but our go to is closed on Mondays. My companion said that this place had chào (porridge all different kinds) so we came. Her favorite is the pork and preserved egg with Chinese donut. The combo brunch was a good value for $9.99 and you have plenty for a second meal. I should've followed suit, but decided on the wonton noodle soup and it was so bland, I had to douse in soy sauce to coax out some flavor. It's a happening breakfast spot for the locals who smoke outside. Meter parking through app is about $1 per hour. Very convenient. I will just order the chào next time and not risk anymore disappointments.

Yelp
I brought my family here for an early Friday night dinner. we had an age group of 7 - 87. everyone was extremely happy with the restaurant. the service was perfect and so the ambiance. the kids loved the lazy susan on the table. the pea sprouts and the orange chicken were the standout favorites dishes of night.

Yelp
I love eating out in LA, finding some new spots or old hole in the wall places. We were actually looking for Ocean Seafood but I guess they permanently closed ): We were standing right outside this restaurant looking for Ocean when we ultimately decided to eat here. Food: We ordered an eggplant dish, fish mong soup, pea shoot stir fry, and lobster with noodles. The eggplant dish stayed piping hot throughout the meal. It has to be eaten with rice to balance out the rich sauce. The fish mong soup was delicious. The soup is thick, but we noticed that as it cools down it becomes more runny, that's so interesting because normally it would be the opposite! I love any stir fry veggies, the pea shoots were a little chewy but it was delicious. Im not a huge lobster fan but my family loves it, they liked the lobster, the noodles could have a better texture. Service: The restaurant was pretty empty so we were attented to pretty well. The owner/manager offered us cookies on the house for dessert! I think it was filled with like a mung bean or a type of bean filling, with super flaky crust, very lightly sweet. It was so nice of them to give that to us! Ambiance: The restaurant is quite small, its located in a plaza. There are little shops surrounding. Everything seemed clean. Not much else I can really describe. Its a family style restaurant, where you share the entrees.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I am subtracting a star for missing a dish that I ordered. They confirmed the dish when I initially ordered but later they denied I ever ordered it. They serve a variety of Chinese dishes and some dim sum during opening- 1 pm. I recommend eating family style because one dish would not be enough for one person. They are an average price for a normal Chinese restaurant ($10-15) per entree. Their store is very large and they also have seating in another room. I also subtracted another star because although they have a separate room for additional seating, they put families who they think do not speak Chinese. I also subtracted another star because service will make you wait for at least 30 min for your food (so make sure when you go there to order right away or go when you are not hungry). They will also be faster if you are either a local who have rapport, an influencer or a family friend. Their food is very flavorful but watch out for their seafood (I had an allergic reaction to their walnut shrimp). I would not wait for this restaurant. Edit: My entire family got food poisoning.

Yelp
This spot offers decent prices, with most items ranging from $10 to $17 and small dim sums around $5. I liked the spare rib. The food arrived quickly, about 10 minutes after ordering. The flavors have an interesting old-school style, with less sodium and oil than typical dishes, making it a lighter option. Parking is free on Sundays on the street; had no trouble finding a seat around noon. Casual spot.

Yelp

This has to be the best Chinese food I've had in such a long time it was 10 out of 10 so so good. The house special lobster dish was incredibly amazing. Best lobster I've had. We had the orange chicken, shrimp kung pao, honey walnut, shrimp, pecking duck, braised Japanese tofu, sautéed pea leaves, beef chow fun, fried shrimps, and steam juice dumplings. Service was super great and friendly and very efficient and fast. Very cute restaurant you will have to pay for parking. It was seven dollars at 5 PM.

Yelp
While visiting Chinatown, we decided to try something new, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. Both the food and service were underwhelming. I ordered the wonton soup, which lacked flavor, though it did contain a generous portion of noodles. The rice paper with shrimp was disappointing--perhaps it would have been better with the traditional sweet soy sauce, as the char siu-style sauce didn't complement it well. The long shrimp egg rolls had an unusual chemical aftertaste, which was off-putting. Additionally, the cleanliness of the restaurant was a concern. The restrooms were not well-maintained and had urine on the floor, which made the visit less enjoyable. Since we didn't enjoy the food, we packed it up and gave it to someone in need. While we appreciate the opportunity to try a new spot, unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. They should add chili oil & soy sauce on the tables especially when serving dim sum.

Yelp
A group of people cut me off and were seated before me, but I had time so I let it happen. The service wasn't great, there was no ambiance, and the food was mediocre tasting. Lacked flavor. I won't return.

Yelp
Stopped here because we were shopping nearby and got hungry. We walked in thinking it would be a small little restaurant but it was bigger than we expected! The food here was very reasonably priced and there were lots of great options. The sweet and sour chicken was delicious. The lotus leaf rice was also pretty good. Dim sum was tasty. There were a lot of people eating here for lunch - and lots of older Chinese people (which is a green flag!). The only thing is that we received the dim sum we ordered about 30 min after we got our main dish, and we wish we could've eaten everything at the same time. Also, heads up that there is an automatic 15% tip that is easily missed. We ended up tipping like 40% total because we didn't realize this, lol. I would definitely return next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
Want some authentic and delicious Chinese food? Yes there are a bunch of that in China town but this particular restaurant really stood out. From the quality to portion and great price, East Garden is now my favorite!! Hidden under Ocean Seafood restaurant, you will see this restaurant right when you park your car. They had everything from lobster, Peking duck, dim-sum and then sum more! Great service and comfortable big space. I'll definitely be coming back for more!

Yelp
Great place to get nice chinatown food if you are in the area. I went on a Wednesday so the parking wasn't that bad and was $5 for the entire day. The food was pretty solid as well and we didn't wait that long for it come out. Overall very nice and I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Very authentic Cantonese food. Very good value. It serves the best 肠粉 in LA. Very good porridge and fish maw soup.

Yelp
Came with colleagues to celebrate 4 bdays at two tables. Food was decent, but nothing that wowed us. Pea leaves were good. Not every restaurant serves this dish. We also enjoyed the fried pork chops. The eggplant with minced pork - we didn't see much of the pork. Waitstaff was pleasant and attentive. Nice ambiance. By lunchtime, ladies' restroom was out of toilet paper. $5 parking lot or street parking. Consensus was decent food, but we'll try other restaurants.

Yelp
We came here on a Saturday afternoon. Andy was our server and we received such fantastic service from him, we left him with a 25% tip, and even still, we think we fell short. The food was fantastic, the place was clean and organized. We were getting everything quickly and to our expectations. 100% recommended place. Also, there's street parking or there's also a parking lot in front of the restaurant that let's you pay in one of those machines where you put your tag number and pay the necessary amount.

Yelp
This restaurant is one of my favorites! They do large, affordable portions that are very value for money. We ordered a variety of dishes and didn't have a single miss - everything was delicious. Highly recommend the $9.99 breakfast combo, you can not find this kind of deal anywhere else. It is a huge portion of congee with fish and beef cheung fun that was incredibly filling. We also really liked their cashew chicken, French beef, and garlic spareribs. The location is very convenient too, with a parking lot at 750 N Hill St that's only $5 all day. For those too lazy to hunt for street parking, this is the perfect option. Overall, Highly recommend giving it a try!

Yelp
Stopped by Chinatown for some good ol Chinese food and this place did not disappoint! First off, their location is so conveniently located next to a parking lot (that was $5 for the day) or street parking which was $3 for 2 hours. There's also a lot across the street, so plenty of parking options here for easy access. Next, onto the food! We tried a variety of dishes from their dimsum to their lunch entrees. Personally, I enjoyed their entrees the most. Several must order items include the Crispy Wings (fried to crispy perfection), Peking Duck, Steamed Chicken (there was a promo going on where it was $16.99 for a whole steamed chicken, amazing deal for the portion size) and the Chow Fun (a staple item). Overall, enjoyed my visit and definitely would stop by again for their lunch specials or to try some more items with my family.

Yelp
Chinatown LA has so many hidden gems, and this past weekend I was able to stop by East Garden to get some amazing dim sum and classic Chinese dishes! My favorites were the Mongolian beef, house special whole lobster, and their special deep fried cha siu which was super tender and juicy! They had all the classic dim sum dishes like har gao, siu mai, xiao long bao, and lo mai gai too. The house special fried rice was a bit too oily for me, but it still paired well with a lot of our main dishes. Most dim sum dishes are around $5, and other shareable dishes like their fried rice and Mongolian beef are around between $12-18 too!
