Evergreen’s longtime Cantonese anchor with cart-service dim sum on busy days and a seafood-focused dinner menu. A neighborhood favorite for chicken feet, rice rolls, and family-style feasts; recent county inspections confirm it’s actively operating.

East Lake has been a long time staple for me in San Jose. Located on Quimby and White road, it’s a seafood Chinese restaurant located right between east side San Jose and Evergreen. I’ve been coming here since 2014. The lunch special is where I was first introduced to this place. Over the years it has evolved! From being a super small hole in a wall to becoming a bigger, celebratory restaurant. My favorite dish is the salt and pepper fish. Everything taste super good here tho! When I need a quick Chinese food fix, I can always count on East lake! We ordered: - wonton soup - walnut shrimp - fried whole fish - salt and pepper fish - chicken fried rice - house chow mein - Mongolian beef - warm sweet red bean soup They happily refill water when you eat inside. Love this place! See you again soon!

First of all I have to say their service is the best. The first 5 mins we couldn’t process what to order. The people here are so nice, they had fresh and piping hot dim sum on a tray and we got to choose what we like. The lady also patiently explained what is what and we also got hot green tea as complementary. We at different types of dumplings both shrimp and pork. It was amazing and moorish. The dumpling was soft and the meat was fresh. Additionally we got house special mixed fried rice and house special mixed thin noodle chow mein. Both the dishes were flavorful and yummy. The portion size was also good for two people. Overall I had an amazing experience and I look forward to coming back soon.

I was on the way to a different place and found dimsum! The rice rolls stood out the most and the onion pancake! Loved the shrimp and eggplant, tripe and the chicken feet!

One of the best Chinese restaurants in this area of San Jose. On the pricey side for Chinese food though, which as you know is generally cheap. We went on a week day so they didn’t have the lunch dim sum carts rolling. I think they do on weekends. But you can order dim sum through the waiter. The wet chow fun is yummy. Soft noodles, a decent amount of beef, and tasty gravy. Jin mein is crispy chow mein, and if you’ve never had it, I recommend to try of you like texture in your food. I mentioned dim sum so at least try the ha how (shrimp dumpling) and shu mai (pork dumpling). They’re big and plump. Jook (aka congee) is very good and you MUST get the Chinese donut (aka fried bread) to pair with it! I do NOT recommend the soup dumplings (aka XLB). They are terrible.

Dim sum is flavorful. Service is super fast and attentive. Prices are good and dish sizes are generous.

Dim Sums are delicious. Other foods also are delicious. Prices are right on. Parking is good. Pretty roomy. Will come again. Linh’s highly recommended 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Google
Over price food for the quality. Waitresses added a 30% tip to my bill without asking me, and she didn’t check on us once about if we needed anything. I had to go back to correct my bill. Will not recommend. So many other good places in San Jose.

There aren't that many Cantonese cuisine restaurants in this part of the Bay Area, and this is one that we come to from time to time. The food is usually pretty okay, and the price is fairly reasonable. And you would get complimentary dessert too.

Yelp
This is our go to dim sum place. The food & service/staff is awesome. The staff is super friendly and they are very welcoming. The restaurant doesn't get super busy so we never have to wait for a table. A few of our favorite dim sum items is shumai, shrimp rice roll, bean curd skin dumplings, and steamed custard bun.

Yelp
I know I wrote a review for this place recently as I've been a regular customer for years and wrote one when I starting yelping. Hmmm... Known for serving Cantonese style cuisine and dim sum. They have changed owners (a while ago). The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate a wedding party/reception, etc. The staff are super nice, helpful, and friendly. The parking lot is spacious, so it's not too bad to find a spot. Dim Sum... *Shrimp Rice Noodle - We were disappointed as this was cold as they specifically brought this to us. All the other dim sum were served from the steam cart. Siu Mai 2× Chicken Feet Sticky Rice wrapped in Lotus leaf Shao Long Bao Tofu Skin roll Sesame Ball

Yelp
My parents raved about this place so we decided to try it out as a family. We went on a weekend so that there would be the dim sum carts. Food: 4/5 Everything was so flavorful and the dim sum here is big. The only downside was the taro dumpling because it wasn't warm and at room temperature. Ambiance: 5/5 The waiters were nice and accommodating. We had a teapot at the table. They asked us if we wanted to order anything else. I liked the lazy susan's they had here and the restaurant is nicely spaced out. I can see people having parties here. There are lots of parking spots in the plaza. The total cost of the dim sum here is really affordable too! I'm happy to find my new favorite dim sum spot!:)

Yelp
We use to go here since back in the day during high school. This was the spot for some good ole MSG flavored Chinese food dishes. Their lunch specials were some of the best deals in town. Anyhow we've been here a few times since then with the most recent visit being on Thanksgiving day 2024. We came here during lunch to celebrate Thanksgiving with the in law's side of the family. Everything is still the way it use to be. The old ladies still push the dim sum push carts around the tables. Fish tanks are still located against the back wall. And of course the food is still on par. We ordered the garlic pea sprout, Peking spareribs, Mongolian beef, house special chow mein, and house special fried rice as our main dishes. In addition we also grabbed the usual dim sum favs such as the deep fried taro, fried shrimp balls, rice noodle roll with shrimp, and siu mai from the dim sum push carts. Everything is delicious and appetizing. The staff and service is efficient. When it comes to both quality family style Chinese food and dim sum, East Lake Chinese Seafood is still one of the solid mainstay restaurants in the San Jose Evergreen area to provide that.

Yelp
Great place for dim sum. Service was very nice and super glad I was able to take my parents to enjoy with.

Yelp
Final Thoughts: 4.48/5 Dim sum for lunch with my friends after my 8-hour shift feels very rewarding. For this place, their dim sum menu is only available until 2:30pm, so just a caution with the time. We came at about 1:30pm and I had quite the pleasant experience from food to service. Food: 1. Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow): 4.4/5 The texture of the har gow is to my preference - Optimal balance of softness, thickness, and chewiness. Filling was also optimal for all 4 that were provided. The shrimps are nicely cooked and well-seasoned. Texture of the shrimps were crunchy and I enjoyed it. I did dip this one in soy sauce, but it could have sufficed even without the extra seasoning. 2. Siu Mai: 4.6/5 My personal favorite item was this item. Four are provided to you. Size, temperature, and flavor were all very nicely done today. Each item actually came out piping hot, so please don't burn yourself. Texture wise, there's a nice crunch from the shrimp mixed with the pork. I split mine in half to cool it off and get a cross section. Optimal amounts of both proteins are provided. Flavor wise - Delightful. I love the balances of salty, sweet, and some umami from the sauce and fish roe. 3. Steamed BBQ Pork Buns: 4.1/5 Seems to be your average buns. They came out nice and hot. Dough itself was still very fluffy with a good ratio of dough to filling. The meat was the standard red color. Flavor was also quite standard - well-seasoning with what I believe tasted like oyster sauce, soy sauce, and sugar. 4. Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll: 4.1/5 Texture of the rice noodle rolls were nice and thin. Good chewiness and softness with some body to hold its shape. Ratio of the rice noodle and shrimp was alright. The shrimps are plump, but they are smaller in size than other places that I have tried. Light seasonings and balanced flavors overall. The sweet soy sauce has a nice umami and sweetness to it that just compliments this dish. 5. Pan Fried Green Onion Pancake: 4.0/5 Very crispy pancake with some subtle flavors from the green onion. Lovely golden brown exterior. The outside texture is very crispy and the inside has the slightest bit of chew and pull to it from all the flattened out layers. Nothing too extravagant about this item, but it did pair well with a protein. 6. XO Sauce Stir-Fried Rice Rolls: 3.9/5 This dish always needs some kind of a protein to it because it's just rice rolls. There wasn't a significant amount that contribute to it, but I appreciate the shredded meat provided between the rolls. Personal preference, but I enjoyed the thickness of these rolls. They seem quite thick, but pair well with a protein. Nice spice and flavor from the jalapenos. Regarding flavor, some more flavoring would've elevated it. The sauce has a lighter taste to it that seemed to only be on the outside charring layer of the rice rolls. 7. Salt and Pepper Fish Fillet: 4.2/5 Definitely the protein that helped elevate the rice paper dish. Both paired fairly well together. Nice flavor of salt. I think I would have preferred a strong scent of the black pepper, but it was still good. They came out nice and crispy. Texture wise - Optimal. Slight crisp exterior and the interior was cooked to perfection. Not dry and just breaks apart with a soft interior. --------- Quality: Fair All food items were good overall. Temperatures were desirable and very palatable. My two notes would be the shrimps used and BBQ buns. One of the buns had a crack running through the top, and I usually see that with frozen, thawed, and reheated buns. The shrimps aren't the biggest concern, but the size is smaller than others that I am used to. Price: Fair Between the three of us, we paid about $21 each, which I deem a fair price for what we got. Considering we got 7 items and still had leftovers afterwards - Ideal for a simple, but nice lunch date out. They have a variety of items from dim sum to kitchen menu items, so the price will range and vary depending on what you get. Service: Very efficient The waiters and waitresses here took no time in seating us, checking in on us, and managing each table. They checked on us multiple times and there always seemed to be someone overlooking the tables. Each time we made a movement to signal for something/someone, they were usually already on their way over to us. Ambiance: Tranquil Seems like a very nice and quiet area. The interior is quite large and did get a little drafty, but that wasn't too big of a concern here. We were seated at a large table and ended up huddling together to one side. Tables and space seemed fairly parted, so we were able to enjoy our lunch and talk comfortably even in the quiet space. Location/Parking: Fair to optimal This place seems to be your average dim sum restaurant. The plaza is not one that I visit often. There are a variety of different stores presented here. Parking doesn't seem to be a concern at all. Some traffic is seen, but there were many spots available to us, nonetheless.

Yelp
Paid $24.60 for mongolian beef. Got half a container full. I could tell by how light the box was. This is my last time going to Eastlake. I live in Evergreen but I'll drive the extra 50min round-trip to go to Home Eat in downtown atleast the prices there are almost $5-8 less or Evergreen Panda in a pinch. Been going to Eastlake for more than 25 yrs. This is the last time they take rip me off.

Yelp
IG: cv.foodies CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS WAS ADVERTISED FOR ONE PERSON FOR LIKE ~$15??? ** A few dishes were a bit too salty/sour for my liking but great price for the amount of food Individual Dinner * Comes with Sweet & Sour Pork, 1 Egg Roll, Soup of the Day, Almond Chicken and Pork Fried Rice! All this for one person omg the portions were literally insane for the price and I'm still in disbelief Everything was really good but the only downside was that the pork was a bit too sour for me! Really recommend getting this!

Yelp
This is as authentic as it gets. Don't expect crisp kind service and extra napkins or to go containers that you can fit all of your food in when it's time to go, but do expect delicious food well seasoned and prepared and delivered to the table quickly. My last time here, I had the dim sum, and it was great as usual. The little plates piled up, one more delicious than the next. Our table also ordered the short ribs, which are my favorite, Chinese broccoli and fried rice. The restaurant is pretty old and inside the tables are rickety and sticky and I'm definitely sure they could upgrade their decor and seating but the food is so good that I look beyond that and just appreciate the meal. I've been coming here for years, and I don't recall one bad experience.

Yelp
Love Dim sum. And Dim sum is one of my top 5 favorite food. Always try different dim sum restaurant all over the city, state and continues. So my taste buds is very selective. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and back side with parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (2 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean but old. 3) Price: ( 4 point)- The price is competitive but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is good and portions are above average. 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of Chinese dim sum food they serve is pretty close to the way it was prepare in Hong Kong. Not bad! But some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. Go foodies Total max is 25 Score 18 Stars = 72% round up to 3 stars

Yelp
No complaints, solid dim sum place! I can't say my pallette for dim sum is super sophisticated but every dish I've tried here is yummy and satisfactory. This is my family's go-to dim sum place because of the taste, price, and distance.

Yelp
The people are so nice, but it is very overpriced for the food that you get. I get that times are rough, but 3 dishes shouldn't cost over $70 when you don't get much of each item. The last time I ordered takeout, I got the salt and pepper fish as one of my items. It stank up the car so bad that I had to drive the car with the windows rolled down... never had that happen before. The quality of the fish must have been terrible!

Yelp
Long overdue since this is my family's go-to restaurant for dim sum & we usually get the same items every time. Items pictured (can be found on the food carts that are pushed around the restaurant as you dine): Deep Fried Minced Pork Dumpling (I'm not a fan of due to the coating but my brother likes it), Deep Fried Shrimp Dumpling with Salad, Pan Fried Shrimp Chives Dumpling (my mom loves this), Shrimp Dumpling, Pork Siu Mai & Steamed Sweet Pea Leaf & Shrimp Dumpling (my personal fav). We also get the Fresh Shrimp Rice Sheet (not pictured) however this time when we got it the rice paper was thicker than usual making it unenjoyable so we probably won't be getting it again in the future. Another item we get is the Shrimp with Walnuts in Special Sauce (aka Honey Walnut Shrimp). This item is ordered from the menu so it takes about 10-15 minutes to arrive. We get steamed rice to pair with this dish & it's absolutely amazing! I would recommend this restaurant based on the dishes I mentioned but beware as it can get really packed at times.

Yelp
Quick take: I've been coming here forever. It's nonfancy comfort food. I do agree with a lot people when it comes to this place not being as good as it use to be. It's just the basic Cantonese style dim sum and food. We still come here with the parents after all these years. They are comfortable with what they know.
google avatar

LeeLee C.

Yelp
It's a small restaurant serving traditional dim sum. Nothing fancy and the tea is a bit flavorless. Dim sum is the average, not fancy but edible. Service for tea refilling is quick. Compared to last year we felt the price has significantly increased. Last year our party of 9 costed close to $200, this year party of 4 costed $100.

Yelp
I love going here for dim sum on the weekends. I always get the fried shrimp balls, har gow, shu mai, and chive dumplings. When I found out they were closed for renovations my hurt heart in a way that Yelp cannot understand unfortunately. However, I understand this is a minor setback, perhaps for a major comeback, and I look forward to what the future holds for East Lake Chinese Seafood.

Yelp
Every time my parents visit, they always want to go to try Dim Sum. I was getting tired of going to Dynasty every time as that is the nearest one with cart served Dim Sum and I just not a big fan of driving around Viet town or Story Road on the weekend. I looked on Yelp to find this restaurant that was roughly the same driving distance as Dynasty and in a "quieter" side of town. The plaza this is in is a neighborhood Plaza with plenty of parking space. I don't imagine this place ever gets so busy that there's no parking space. The restaurant upon entering is very spacious. We were seated nearly immediately and it doesn't seem to get all that busy. Once we were seated, those pushing the dim sum cart that were seemingly were on standby walked passed our table one-by-one. Overall, the food was comparable to Dynasty (as a baseline). I would say they were more stuffed than Dynasty. For example, the Ha gow at Dynasty and other dim sum places would be about 60-70% of what was served here. My main gripe with the dish would be how long it seemed some of the dishes were left out on the cart while waiting for customers to show up. A few of the dishes we got seemed to have been left out for a while as the wraps of some of the dishes seemed dry. Overall, the price is comparable to Dynasty with the added benefit of getting more value for what you paid and to avoid the busier side of town.

Yelp
This used to be our favorite Chinese Restaurant close to our house. There was a change of ownership and the quality is not as good as before and also too pricey.

Yelp
Want dim sum AND traditional Chinese food? The. This is the place to go if you're in South San Jose. So few Chinese places do both at the same time or if they do they do one well and the other is lacking. Here you get both high quality dim sum AND classic Chinese fare done right! FOOD: We've tried a lot and loved so much of it. The duck is wonderful and a reasonable price for the amount you get. The other main dishes like Salt and Pepper Fish are great too. My only "beef" was with the Broccoli Beef because the broccoli was underdone and too big. They have great dim sum and a nice variety too. They have the classics like har gow and shu mai but also things like chicken feet which some folks love. SERVICE: In a lot of Chinese restaurants the service is less interactive (a cultural difference) but here they are engaging, friendly, and helpful. The ambiance is nice too. Not too loud but you're definitely dining in a group of people. COST: For what you get I think it's great. This has quickly become our go to Chinese restaurant in the area for a sit down meal.

Yelp
I've been visiting this establishment for over 20 years. Although it's changed ownership a few times, the new owners have updated the interior a lot! The place looks and feels very open and clean. It's solid chinese food whether you are dining for a family meal at dinner or dim sum over the weekend. I have not had a dish that was not good. Some of my favorites are still the fish filet with fresh veggies and the clams in black bean sauce. Family favorites are still peking spare ribs, seafood clay pot and beef chow fun.
google avatar

Yelp
Logistics: -parking lot available with plenty of spots -takes card -plenty of seating -dim sum carts -excellent, quick service Decent dishes and they have the servers pushing the carts of dim sum. The har gow rice paper is a little too thick.

Yelp
We had shrimp chow mein, beef with pan fried noodles and shumai. All the food was really good. Shrimp chow mein wasn't too salty and had good flavor. One of the better chow mein dishes I've had. The beef pan fried noodles was good. A little too much sauce for my taste but the taste itself was really good. The beef was seasoned and velveted very well. It made for a tender and nicely savory flavor. Noodles got a little overwhelmed by the sauce. I could've controlled it by putting less so if I get this next time I will do that. Shumai was good. The flavor was what I would expect it to be. Nice balance of savory, sugar to balance but not sweet at all and the sesame flavor popping through just perfectly. My only criticism would be that the dumpling wrapper was slightly soggy and it fell apart too easily. It wasn't terrible to be fair. I'm making a very critical observation. Service was alright. They were busy and I expected to pay for my food, grab it and go as I ordered my food for takeout. Should've mentioned that up front. Anyhow, that didn't happen that way. I paid, I asked for fork and chop sticks and then I had to wait for the person at the front to help all the people a little by little while also answering the phone. She could've just put the forks and chopsticks in the bag so could be on my way. It took her about 10 minutes to finally get the chopsticks and forks from the back and to get me out of there. Not very good multitasking in my opinion. That's one big knock for me. It just didn't make sense. My food was in a bag ready to go when I got there. I digress. The restaurant itself was very clean and pretty standard Chinese decor. It was nice not shabby at all. I would enjoy eating in if I were to do so. Overall experience was good because the food was good. Service could be slightly better for the reason I mentioned. I want to leave by saying the lady helping was very nice so it made it easy for me to be patient. I will give her that. Will repeat for sure.

Yelp
This has been our local go-to spot for dim sum since I was a kid and now we bring our kids here. We love that it's close to home and it never disappoints. Food and service is always great!

Raina E.

Yelp
The rice was horrible. I was looking forward to having fried rice but it was cold, flavorless and non appetizing. The sweet and sour chicken was hollow. table was sticky and felt unclean, Food and drinks came late.
google avatar

Vivian T.

Yelp
Was sat immediately at night for a table of 5! The serving sizes were all great except for the mandarins chicken which I felt looked plain. However prices were relatively higher, I would say, compared to rplaces I have eaten before

Richard L.

Yelp
Our usual go to spot for takeout! Honey walnut shrimp and the salt and pepper pork chop is the best! Always friendly and quick.

Yelp
Nice people good food reasonable prices. It's in the middle of a strip mall. Good parking.

Yelp
My family and I stopped by for a dinner together, and I really appreciated the kind servers. One thing I really appreciate about this restaurant was how chill the staff was. I have a medical condition, so I am allergic to many ingredients (wheat, soy, sesame) in Asian food. I brought in a meal from another restaurant that I was not allergic to so that I could eat alongside my family, and the staff did not mention anything. My family members had a great time catching up, but there were some issues. I heard the restaurant is understaffed, so I appreciate their effort in trying to serve all the parties. Maybe because we were one of the last parties in, they were running out of a lot of food and drinks. They ran out of this one alcoholic drink we wanted and only had a few bowls left of their complementary che desserts. From my family members' opinions (I couldn't eat that much of the food because I was allergic), the buns were dry and hard, the meat plates had more onions than meat, the rice was not thoroughly cooked, the che texture was not smooth and did not taste the best, and they did not place our fried rice on the tab and thus did not bring it out for us. The servers were very kind though, and attentive in providing us with more water. There may be a bit of a wait on a weekend night, and even though they forgot our fried rice, when we asked about it, they offered to cook some and place it on the tab since it was never put on the tab. I was able to eat the rice and lettuce with my family, so I'm glad that this is one of the Asian restaurants I've been to where there is something I can eat due to my food allergies. My family members and I were very welcome and had a great time socializing.

Yelp
My family loves this place and we go here often. We usually go for the orange chicken, the dry beef chow mein, and the salted chicken fried rice. They have dim sum in the afternoon available and at night you get a little soup dessert as well. Service is great and is a nice casual spot that's not overly expensive.
google avatar

Yelp
I used to frequent this place on weekends, but haven't visited in over a decade. Management has changed a lot, though they did renovate the inside of the restaurant. We ordered the Singapore rice noodles, Kung pao chicken, and salt and pepper spare ribs. Prices have increased at all restaurants, but they did give pretty generous portions. The salt and pepper spare ribs were one of the better ones I've had. We considered ordering the Peking duck as well, but the staff was very honest and shared that it wasn't the freshest today, so we decided on the other dishes.

Bo N.

Yelp
Came for dim sum on a Friday. Disappointed that there was no carts, maybe they are weekend only. Food was just ok -- nothing wowed us, but nothing was awful either. Menu seemed a little small though, we couldn't find any baked items.

Kathy N.

Yelp
Delicious food. Beef fried rice is the best on the menu. Great for large gatherings. Splendid service. Trilingual waitresses.
google avatar

Lana J.

Yelp
We love the generous portions of all the dishes we ordered: flounder with braised tofu, beef and gai lan chowfun, sweet and sour pork ribs. Every dish came out fresh and piping hot!

Yelp
The place remolded and expanded few times. The place is clean and relaxing. The food has a little MSG. It still the one of best sit-down Chinese places in Evergreen area. We've been there only in the evening for dinner. The price has got a lot more expensive since we started going there in the late 90's. The service is decent, but the food is tasty. We come couple times of the year to support them even though there is a another restaurant that taste good and cheaper. Plus, I know they have dim sum for lunch during weekend and weekdays.

Yelp
We frequent East Lake quite often since it's super close by. The dim sum and service is pretty good. It never fails to curb my dim sum cravings. There are so many favorites at this location. First dish has to be the chicken feet. I love how they make it at this location. The sauce is addicting and the collagen is fall of the bone since it is cooked & marinated to perfection. Second dish has to be the turnip cake. Love the texture with the chunks of turnip which makes it sweet and savory. The third dish would have to be rice rolls with shrimp & the light sweet savory soy sauce. It always comes out piping hot because these go out FAST. Great soft chewy texture with plump shrimps. As a guilty pleasure, I dip the turnip cake into the left over sweet savory sauce. Yum! Honorable mentions: the shrimp balls! They usually don't have this as often anymore and when they do it goes fast! You can never go wrong with dim sum here!

Yelp
Love this place! Love my dimsum cart aunties! Usually go here for Sunday brunch and never been disappointed so far! We had 14 orders of dimsum today, so good!

Yelp
A little overpriced for Chinese food imo, but everything tasted great. Extremely quick service and staff friendly. Walnut shrimp portions were small. Don't know if we will be coming back.

Yelp
East lake gives a bang for your buck! First time trying the orange chicken, and I thought it would taste like Panda Express but it was actually very orangey. Not bad, but not what I'm used to. Flounder fillet clay pot fire as always. The kung pao's sauce is a little watery but overall tasty with a little spice. The war won ton is okay, but I do appreciate how the broth isn't too salty. They packaged everything very nicely and are always super fast!

Yelp
I'm giving it a 3.5 stars since I haven't got to try most of their dishes yet. We ordered the family Dinner B for 4 people. It came with egg rolls and wontons for apps. Chicken corn soup and for main dishes it was Mongolian Beef which had too many onions and beef was too thick. The fried rice e was mediocre. The pork with broccoli was ok. I thought the BBQ pork as an j gradient was a bit strange. Cashew chicken was. It great. The best one was Peking spare rib. That was tasty and flavorful. Lots of parking and open space in the restaurant. I'm looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the evergreen area since the best one closed down last month

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday around lunch time and was seated right away. The inside of the restaurant looks pretty basic, although a little outdated it was still clean. This the style of dim sum where they push around little carts and you pick out the dishes you want to eat. 1. Har gow - 6/10. I found the skin of this to be slightly too overcooked because it lost it's mochi stretchy texture. This one crumbled apart which knocked it down a few points for me. The filling was pretty standard, I may have gotten an old one that had been sitting out for a while. Not amazing, but also not bad. 2. Siu mai - 8/10. Also a pretty standard siu mai. Nothing wrong with it 3. Chicken feet - 9/10. This was full of flavor and unexpectedly very spicy!! It was a nice change to some other chicken feets that I've had 4. BBQ porn bun - 8/10. Pretty standard pork bun, I wish it were a bit larger but it was still solid 5. Shrimp rice roll - 10/10. Absolute best dish of our meal, in fact I would say this is one of the best shrimp rolls I've had in the bay. Must must get if you are here for dim sum! Overall this was a solid meal and the price was decent. I'd come here again if I ever wanted some quick no frills dim sum

Yelp
We ordered salted fish chicken fried rice, braised tofu, and Peking duck. The fried rice was served first, and the yellow color of the rice was very strange. It seemed like they added yellow food coloring to it. It wasn't pretty, but it was delicious! The Peking duck had crispy skin, and the meat was a little dry, but it was okay. The braise had too much soup, which was unusual. The owner explained that it was because it was cooked in a hurry, so it wasn't very tasty ! At the end of the meal, the restaurant even gave us a complimentary dessert, which was quite delicious! I give the food 4/5 points. The service 5/5 bc the receptionist and service were very cheerful and attentive, even though they were in a hurry. The restaurant is a bit old, so I only give it 4/5 points. When the restaurant was in Milpitas, this was one of my family's favorite restaurants. I hope this will be our favorite restaurant from now on.

Yelp
My family and I used to be regulars here and we made sure to celebrate birthdays & other milestones at this particular restaurant. The last time I visited happened to be in 2013 and I never looked back because the visits and the food seemed to take a huge dive. Granted, I've never experienced East Lake's dim sum offerings. So, I had been craving dim sum for the past few weeks and was in need of a spot ASAP to feed my hungry toddler. I recalled some not so good reviews about their dim sum from a few Yelp GFs, which only added to my hesitation. I allowed my niece to be the deciding factor and here we were... EL was a lot busier than I expected. While there were not rolling dim sum carts, the entire room was filled with loud clattering and patrons mixed conversations. We were greeted and signaled to wait as another party was seated. I made the request to sit as far away from the door due to my toddler and the gentleman [whom I believe was the owner] accommodated. Cons: -No Dim Sum Carts. Orders are placed on laminated menus. -Food took waaaay waaaay too long to come out. Random items would come and then it would be another 15 minutes or more before another item would be given. -Some foods came out room temp and more on the cooler side. This left for the tripe, spare ribs, & chicken feet to get gelatinous- AND IVE NEVER EVER EVER HAD THAT HAPPEN!! -Shrimp Dumplings wrapper was extremely thick. This made for huge dumplings but we unanimously got tired of the item very quickly. Pros: -Very friendly customer service from employees. The person in charge was even more attentive and came over personally to thank us for patiently waiting. Not expected but definitely appreciated. -A dish error was immediately corrected and the gentleman in charge even left the dish out on an adjacent table so it was undeniably NOT being recycled and simply "fixed". -Cost is super affordable. I would consider EL overall cheaper when I compared them to other dim sum restaurants. 3 Stars. They need a bit of work when it comes execution but with the genuine service provided, I'd definitely give them another try.

Yelp
Food is good, but not as good as it used to be. We used to frequent this place so much prior to the pandemic. This was our first time visiting again since, and it was different. However, service was still great and all the dishes came out fast for dinner. Albeit, it might have been because we were here on a weeknight, but the worker(s) made the time to check in on us to see if we needed anything. The prices have gone up and portion has gone down, and I hate that I'm writing this review in such a way, but most of the dishes doesn't taste like there's much effort being put into it except for a few like: the sweet and sour pork; it was so crispy and saucy, but some of the crisp was only crisp and no meat; and the salt/pepper shrimp. The soup we ordered was too thick and bland and the incorrect meat was used for our fish fried rice. I guess if you set all that aside, it's simple comfort Asian food: variety of dishes over a bed of white rice, it hits the spot. I've yet to come here for dim sum, but I hear (and read) it's better than their entrees.

Yelp
Food was satisfactory. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of parking too! My family used to come here a lot growing up for dim sum and dinner so I decided to come with 2 friends for a quick weeknight dinner on Monday. We were the only table dining in with a couple of to go orders getting picked up while we were at the restaurant. We ordered 4 dishes: Combination fried rice, Beef chow fun, Salt and pepper spare ribs, and Honey walnut shrimp! The portions were large and tasty with fair pricing imo. They also served us hot tea and this hot sago dessert! Still a very solid place to go for tasty chinese food.
