East Side Pizza

They’ve never been good at pasta but every few years I give it a go, still a no in 2025. $22 for this Chicken Alfredo that features a half of a chicken breast on a bed of buttered fettuccine with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on and mixed in. The house Italian blend is always nice tho! I believe this place has great pizza but that’s it.. the deserts are store bought so I’d say you can’t miss there either! Don’t bother with the pasta, just take the loss and go with Olive Garden.

First time here. Clean and calming, warm and inviting environment. Came during Christmas season and the place was decorated with stockings and Christmas music playing. We ordered a dozen garlic knots - the marinara dipping sauce and the knots were outstanding (had raw garlic cloves and lots of parsley, cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and doughy inside). We ordered the lasagna and the shrimp scampi, plenty of cheese with the lasagna (wow!!) and more raw garlic cloves and robust, decadent flavor with the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and I dipped the garlic knots in the sauce of the scampi - chef’s kiss! Skipped on dessert this time, but was told by the pleasant waiter (Chris B) that they do have some seasonal desserts in rotation, can call ahead and ask. The chocolate cake is apparently really popular! Definitely coming back, new fave.

We were there for an adult birthday party. The food had been selected by the host and was set up buffet style. Salad, 3 types of pasta dishes and garlic knots. The waitresses were available as needed, the food was very good and the restaurant was clean and well ordered.

As someone who suffers from non celiac disorder it hurts to see there’s an up-charge for gluten-free pasta. I got excited when saw the up-charge. So hubby got to order a full meal and I was left with a salad. There was no gluten free bread option, which I understand but the sad part is I bet there would be a really high up-charge. Glad I’m only coming here once. The high up-charges aren’t worth it. I gave stars based on my husband’s experience of the food. Asked for a salad with no onion and there’s onion on it.

Omg the meatballs are some of the best I ever had. Such an awesome place in PTown. Everyone is so nice especially Aron who took care of us. Super friendly and made sure we were all happy. Excellent customer service. Love IT

This is a great little Italian spot with delicious, abundant food and great service.

Ordered via Doordash, everything was correct, packaged with care, and absolutely YUMMY! I will definitely try out more of their menu again! Update 12/31/23 Everything I have ordered has been seasoned and cooked to perfection, bagged with care and special requests completed with care and compassion. This place is awesome, I would trust anything I order and am very impressed with the attention to detail they do right to your table or door. Good job guys!

Lady who helped us did a good job just looked like she hated it. Food was well prepared but just not up to expectations. Lasagna was weird, have never seen lasagna like that. More of a meat in noodle dish.

Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so with that being said let's begin!. I have passed by this business on a number of occasions but never really gave it much thought to stop in until a couple of co workers mentioned that this restaurant was a sister company to Gianna's Pizzeria & Restaurant!. And let me say that this is the closet if not in comparison of NYC pizzerias!. So I decided it was time to try my hand, I was impressed with the pizza, it gave me the same vibe and feeling and also has the same restaurant resemblance as far as the table setup and bar area.. I purchased the pizza special which consists of an 8" 1 topping pizza and if you wanted to add more toppings it was an additional $1.50 for each additional topping!. Not a bad deal... My only complaint, let's just say one of them is the mozzarella wasn't as authentic tasting as Gianna's. My other complaint or maybe I shouldn't compare restaurants to each other because what my co worker said about Eastside being affiliated with Gianna's may not be true, I forgot to ask so right now this is just a rumor. So if this is not true then I have no reason to compare this restaurant to another. So let me be the first to say I apologize for the mishap!. Overall I enjoyed the pizza and I will return again and if you are ever in the area I would suggest you give them a try if you are into pizza!. I'm giving a 5/5 based on what we had which was just a large NY Style pepperoni pizza. We did a pick up order. Called it in. They were friendly when we picked it up. They gave us plates and toppings but no napkins. It a delicious and it was what was expected thinking of a NY Style pizza. We just needed a quick lunch for us and the kids and this was a hit. It was delicious and would eat it again.

Went with a group of 6 or 7 for dinner. The service was great! I love Italian food so I was really looking forward to trying out this restaurant. I started with fresh mozzarella fried which was very good, I mean who doesn't like fried fresh mozzarella!! The sauce they had for dipping was very good so much so I wanted to have pasta with red sauce as my entree. Originally I was going to order chicken piccata. I ordered penne with sauce when the entree arrived the sauce was very watery like the pasta was drained good. The pasta was way over cooked. I swapped it out for another sauce with spaghetti pasta instead same situation. So unfortunately I didn't eat my pasta. Let's talk about the bread that was the best part of the meal to me. Not a fan of sharing with so many of us wish there was more of it. The other issue it came out very early so there was no bread left when our entree's arrived! Most of the other entrees were liked by my friends. My one friend raved about her dish she decided to try something she never tried before, and she was very happy. Two other people ordered pizza and like it very much. I have to admit the pizza look very good. I might go back to try pizza, but I'll stay away from the pasta. Another friend had ordered pasta like myself and she did not enjoy it as well, it was very watery. The lasagna was ordered by another friend, she said it was pretty good. Seafood pasta with red sauce was ordered by another friend, which came out with a garlic sauce instead. She thought that it didn't have enough seafood, not to mention it had a WHOLE garlic bulb in it. This is a little far for me to just go have pizza but if I'm ever in that area I might try it for pizza!

Waiter was great, as well as kids chicken tenders. The Ultimate steak & Cheese was not. Menu states fried onions, green peppers and mushrooms. Sub cMe with not one mushroom 4 little pieces of peppers and the waiter said onions are real small. No flavor from onions/peppers. Waiter did get me some mushrooms and peppers but they were all hard ( not cooked). Just heated up. Disappointed to say the least.

A gem of a place offering incredibly tasty food. You will want to start off with the garlic knots, ooey, gooey, doughy garlicky goodness served with a side of marinara for dipping. You're going to eat two so depending on your group size, you can do a full or half order. Main dishes such as the penne broccoli and shrimp scampi have delicious golden nuggets of roasted garlic and the perfect amount of sauce. Enough to coat the pasta but not drowning in a pool of oil. Hubs is a red sauce fan and absolutely loved the meat ravioli. We were in the area on vacation for a week, and he ordered this dish twice! If you didn't save room for dessert, get it to go because the carrot cake is probably the best you can have. Rich, dense, chuck full of carrots, coconut, walnuts and raisins.... It is ginormous and one piece would be enough for a table of four to share! Large room in the back offers an area for functions. Tables in the main dining room show off the pizza oven which offers its own entertainment as you dine. Love to watch the cook pull pizza after pizza out of the oven and slice it up! We mentioned to the manager we are from New England, know good seafood and good Italian... this place has both. You won't be disappointed.

Love the food and the service is always great, I love the chicken bella oh my goodness amazing! Chris was our waiter last time, good man! Great sense of humor and the canoli oh my i could eat 5 but I would be sick. Thumbs up, give them a try, you won't be disappointed

I was a regular at Eastside purchasing the Philly cheese steak and pizzas. I bought the cheesesteak on Wednesday and it was so greasy and salty I could eat it.. I complained they remade the sandwich on Tuesday. I got the same results greasy, soggy bread but it wasn't salty this time... it was still inedible. They have lost me as a customer of cheesesteaks.. I need a new place and suggestions.

I've been coming here since I was little. They've always been consistent with fresh toppings and great tasting pizzas. Our service has never been slacking whether eating in or taking out. Another place that gives your much needed loca pizzeria atmosphere.

My wife and I struggle with Italian restaurants but this one is ok. The service was just ok but it is a bigger restaurant and our server seemed to be slammed so we will give her some grace and we did. The food is good better than Olive Garden or carrabas. Not better than homemade if you can cook. We ordered the antipasto salad and lasagna which is the only Italian dish to go out for. It was nice evening with nice food.

Long time lover of Eastside. My all time favorite to order is the cheese ravioli, it is absolutely perfection! Lately I've also fallen in love with their pizza! So tasty!! I have dined in a few times and each time the waitresses that I have had have been really sweet. I have often ordered pickup and order was made correctly. Only downside that doesn't make me come back as frequent is that it's a bit pricey. More pricey than other Italian restaurants near me. Also their black pepper fries=delicious!!!

We always enjoy our meals here. No matter what pizza or pasta we order, it's delicious! We have had Ashley as our server for the past 2 visits and she is attentive and just fabulous. We highly recommend supporting this local business.

Absolutely the best calamari in 757 so light and fried perfectly. Customer service is always top tiered. Beautiful welcoming nice ambiance. Will definitely be back. Oh the red sauce is amazing! I had the penne all a vodka and it was heavenly. My one and complaint was the chicken added on to my penne tasted old but the pasta and sauce was sooooo good.

I usually have great service when I call in my order but this date I ordered in person for take out. this is what I received. burn meat scrapings and old bread. they remade my order but added half a jar of mayo on less old bread. I'll never go again. no apology received.

Food is delicious! We eat here all the time. Usually get to-go, but in person service was good also. Ambiance is nice for families also.

Two words describe the food here and that would be Yum. Yum. The full spectrum of Italia pizzas, pastas calzone, and Stromboli's antipasto . Along with many other staples, including burgers, and cheese steak Service was great fast and accurate I decided to have anti-pasta on this trip, and when the server said it was big, she was not lying. It was perfect. Full service bar with a good selection of wines Weird so it was simple, but it was very clear good light. The regular tables Booths and of course plenty of seating at the full service bar A very relaxed atmosphere

I attended my work Christmas party here in their back room. The service is always quick and nice, even for large parties, and they seem to always be very proficient. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Salad, and I really liked it a lot! I would definitely order it again, but probably make it hot instead of mild next time. The mild was super mild. The only con was none of the meals that were supposed to come with bread came with the bread, and no one realized it until it was too late. My friends would've loved to have had bread with their pasta meals, and it's a bummer that the server forgot, although there was a lot going on.

Some of the best pizza you can get!!! The last two times I've been I destroyed the seafood pasta added Italian sausage and took it over the top! Great food!!! Great atmosphere!!!! Even better service!!!!

What a neat pizza place and find in Portsmouth. I visited for the first time with a large group, and the experience could not have been any better. Our server "Holly" was just great and not only was attentive and friendly, but did not mess up any orders of the bill and many of us had separate checks. Most times you expect some kind of error or mix-up, did not happen. Now, the food quality was very good as well. Many in my party has the lunchtime pizza and soft drink special and I had a large steak sub and fries which not only tasted good but was reasonably priced for what you got. Parking is more than ample, they have room for groups, overall, this is a great spot.

First time dining at this restaurant. Went with a Funeral party of 50 guests & I honestly expected better. While the chef's were busy preparing the meal for the guests, I ordered a to go meal. Waited over an hour for an order that was never placed with the chef's. Server never once made contact with the delay or asked if I needed a drink while I waited. Got fed up with the abhorrent service & lack of customer service & walked out, without my order. Most people I know enjoy this restaurant, unfortunately I was treated horribly & will have to weigh my options before or if I return.

Great local Italian place. A little pricier than I'd like. The food is consistently good. Occasionally really good. I'm not a fan of the pizza but their pasta is good. Their dessert servings are INSANE. The chocolate cake is decadent and can be eaten over four sittings We had Mother's Day lunch here recently and the service was outstanding. We had the back room to ourselves (party of 12 with a toddler!). Will definitely be back for other special occasions.

I haven't been here in awhile and decided to go before I did some food shopping. Still a very nice place with plenty of seating. My waitress was very nice and attentive. I decided to try and eggplant Parm sandwich and fries, and they were both tasty and came out very hot and fresh. I took the cheese steak Stromboli home and it was enjoyed by all. It really looks like a real Stromboli, too! The sauce is tasty, as well! I do think onions should be free of charge (instead of over $2) since it is common to include on a cheese steak but I guess those days are over. And, the basic cost is high enough already. However, you should check them out since their food is still yummy!

Young guy behind the counter was so nice and helpful for my time there. Couldnt help myself and ate a slice in my car before going home and wow! Delicious! And i dont say that lightly. Most of the pizza spots around here are complete trash but this was not the case for eastside. Will be back with the family.

Being from Northern New Jersey, I feel like I know a thing or two about good pizza! This place can hold its own against their northern counterparts. I actually drive by 6 other pizzerias to come here.

We were a party of 18 with a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Saturday evening. Portsmouth is not an area I frequent much, but I was happy we did this evening. This restaurant is located in a shopping center all the way to the end. The inside was dimly lit, clean, but also very welcoming. We were shown to our party which was perfectly hidden all the way to the back of the restaurant. Our server was terrific. I didn't get his name, but he served us all and was very courteous, patient, accurate, and knowledgeable. We ordered: greek salad, french fries, cheese garlic bread, Proscuitto di parma, Eastside special, meat combo, pepperoni, and cheese pizza. Their Greek salad was delicious! Great vinegarette! Big chunks of good feta. and their pizza?... It was perfect. The prosciutto arugula pizza was delish! I loved it! This place will definitely stay on my radar whenever I'm in town.

I've been here twice for large office meetings. Both times the restaurant was busy and the staff was hustling. This is a popular place in an easily accessible strip mall anchored by a Food Lion supermarket. I'm a big fan of pizza from local merchants versus chains and I wasn't disappointed. The pizza is delicious NY style crust with a variety of topping options. I had a piece of someone's pepperoni slice and it was perfectly cheesed and the pepperoni was nice and salty. I also tried the cheese steak with all the toppings. All of the components melted together perfectly. It's the kind of sand which that puts you into a full tummy stupor. I would order the pizza or a sub again no question. There were several people in our group that did not enjoy their choices. Two had the seafood pasta dish and another had penne pasta dish with what looked like an oil based sauce. Neither looked appetizing and wouldn't have been my choice. The staff was apologetic and didn't skip a beat in providing good service. Overall, it's worth a try for lunch or takeout. Wouldn't be my choice for an Italian dinner date.

Friendly staff. Food is really good. They have a full bar. Musics playing in the background. Pick up orders are available by grub hub or you can always call your order in.

Eastside is cool overall. Nothing super fabulous about it but it's clean, family restaurant, food is ok, and the people are nice. We have had a few small problems with our previous orders (not the entire order but there has always been an issue with an item). For example: once the pizza was burnt on the bottom; another time the fried mozzarella was too soggy due to the water in the cheese; next the chicken in the chicken parmigiana was burnt; and, lastly, the seafood Alfredo was....not good (chef substitute). So for us, it's ok. This order: The pizza was Fries good Chicken cheesecake - pretty tasty

Been going here for years for pizza mostly on pick up. We went here for work lunch very often. Service is great but they do get really busy at times so it might take a while.

ONE WORD ... DISAPPOINTED. $70 worth of bland AF food. Wings were over cooked but not even crispy, Alfredo and chick Parm sandwich had NO flavor, bland bland bland. SEVENTY dollars, unacceptable. Even had repack my own Togo food bc whoever packed it has no concept of space, size, or weight of boxes. Only slightly redeemable point - cannolis, SLIGHTLY. I wish Amicis was still open.

Normally our family loves going here. However, yesterday I went to with my friend and kids. She had a chicken steak grinder. As she was eating it she pulled a huge piece of paper out of her mouth! We told the waitress and she said "I have no idea what that is, want a new sandwich? " She said yes then the waitress asked is the other half good? My friend opened the other side of sandwich and there was more paper. She said she would get a new sandwich and a discount. It was absolutely disgusting. Then when she came back she only came back with half a sandwich! The discount $3! I am highly disappointed and not interested in going back anytime soon if ever.

From the freshly baked bread to the most delicious white pizza, Eastside was delight after delight! Our waitress was super friendly even on a busy night. Food came to the table quickly and, like the bread, was hot and fresh! The White pizza drool-worthy!! Brilliant combination of cheeses without being complicated. The other one was pepperoni and black olives. Crust on both was perfectly thin and crispy! We much preferred the white but both were good. Price range was $14-17 and the two pizzas easily fed 4 of us! The vibe was casual enough for jeans and T-shirt or you could get dressed up for a little fancier experience. So glad we found this place and will definitely be back!

Best pizza- Quattro Formaggi. We love this place! Good salads, appetizers, and great pizza.

Food was delicious and the service was awesome!! We were there for a 50th birthday party and it was just great all around!! The staff was friendly,helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu and the suggestions they gave us were perfect. I'll absolutely be back!!

Love this Resturant. The eggplant is wonderful. I've never had a poor meal here. The service is friendly and attentive. Even when the restaurant is busy, the staff makes a special effort to make us feel important. A family friendly restaurant, we feel comfortable with the whole family or just my wife and I for a quiet dinner. Well worth the trip.

Just returned my pizza. I'm the guy that left the pizza on the counter and walked, no refund, because I was so disappointed. My son and I have been working all day and figured I'd treat us to pizza and wings. We got buffalo wings and the east side special pizza. Wings were barely cooked and the buffalo sauce was watery. My son ate them anyway. The pizza wasn't cooked. The crust was soggy, the toppings weren't cooked, cheese barely melted. Parts of the pizza were cold, and I ve never had pizza with water on top of it before. I showed the young man as I put my hand on the pizza and the water came off on my hand. The staff was goofing off and making odd noises while I waited, other young man at the counter could give two s@&ts about anything. Very unprofessional. Management needs to pay attention. There's a lot of bad reviews on here.

The food is great, but fattening. It has good service, but it took the waiter a long time, before she came to our table. Want to sit down forever? Go to Eastside Pizzeria & Ristorante.

I don't normally do this often but I sh!t you not I took a bite out of the first slice of the Eastside Special Pizza and my mouth went numb and immediately it tasted like gasoline... as if there was a gas leakage... this is my 5th time ordering. I enjoyed all my other times as well which is sad and oh not to mention a strain of hair in my sisters salad.

Food is fantastic and always has amazing service. The restaurant is always clean and the workers are friendly.

Found this place on Google searches while in Portsmouth past 9:00 pm. It was one of the few dine in restaurants open at the time. What a surprise on the inside! Staff friendly and personable, prices affordable and the food was good. Couldn't eat it all! Only gave 3 stars -- the pizza is good, just a little too greasy for my taste.. maybe some one else will grade it higher. It is worth a visit if you like NY style pizza. Overall, very good service, clean and timely. I enjoyed my visit

Went here b/c we wanted something slightly different from the usual close to us. Rather pumped that we did b/c our server was amazing. She was super friendly to us and our daughter and just kept things lively. She's a rockstar to this restaurant and I'm rather upset I forgot her name. The food was very delicious and I was very surprised of how delicious the salad was. I'm a salad brat and seriously... it was real good. Overall, I feel like I need to re-integrate this place in to some of our 'places-to-go' rotation as we were very happy with the taste, service, and relative cost. Really used to LOVE this place but the past few times we've gone it's been super disappointing. The quality of the food and service isn't as good as it was before.

Tito's is considered "top shelf" $8 a shot. Food is ok but I would stay away from ordering drinks. Silly to have a bar if you can't recognize pricing your alcohol. Even the server was confused on the pricing had to ask a manager to make sure that was right.

The BEST pizza around! My family and I absolutely love this place! Even when we stay home and order take out and they deliver, they ALWAYS deliver the best! They are so fast! Such a great restaurant! I can't get my pizza anywhere else!
