What an awful experience. Where to start.
We arrived at about 1:30 for lunch. They show prices for lunch and dinner on their menu, and obviously lunch is way less.
We ordered Gyoza and mozzarella sticks for appetizers (Mozz sticks were really weird to see on the menu, but my friend loves them, so she ordered them). The gyoza and mozz sticks are just frozen from a bag. Not terrible, but not great. They served the mozz sticks with chinese sweet and sour sauce (WHAT).
I ordered a Thai Iced Tea. I have had hundreds of thai iced teas, and even the worst of them still taste like thai iced tea. Whatever it was they brought me was nearly clear and tasted like someone poured condensed milk into water. No flavor to be had, at all. I returned it for a diet Coke.
The ramen was boring. It was pretty, and I will admit the pork belly in my ramen was quite good, but the broth was just devoid of flavor. Just salty. She had asked us if we wanted it spicy, we both said yes, and there wasn't the slightest hint of spice in the broth. Absolutely none. Just super bland.
But, my blood started to boil when the checks came. We were charged for the dinner portions of ramen - $13 - instead of lunch. There was a big difference in price between the two. Also, I ordered an extra egg with my ramen, which the menu listed as $1. I was charged $1.50. When the waitress came back, I asked her politely when lunch hours were. She told me, and we easily fell within lunch hours. I questioned why we were charged dinner prices and she said it was because we didn't tell her that we wanted lunch. At 1:30 on a weekday. There is also a $.55 charge for dining in and a similar charge for using a credit card. She begrudgingly changed our dinner charge to a lunch charge....well, I think she did, because when she brought the new checks to us they weren't itemized, so I'm not entirely sure what was adjusted.
The whole experience was awful. The best thing about the meal was my Diet Coke. Super bait and switch going on here, probably to make up for the lack of business due to Covid, but it's gross and unwelcome and I would never go back here. Too many amazing ramen joints in Denver to put up with bland broth and bait and switch pricing.
EDIT: After reading through the bad reviews for this restaurant, I am /shocked/ at the responses from the owner. I hold the belief that if you're a good restaurant owner and you have seen numerous bad reviews describing the exact same problems (bland broth, ridiculously bad thai iced tea), you would try to make improvements to your business. Instead, you throw insults around at people? I have such secondhand embarrassment reading the owner responses. How gross.
