East Wall Restaurant on Bellaire. An incredible opportunity to put together a dinner for 10 for Chowhound Dana LeJeune's visit. The food kept coming. All we said was "dinner for ten". The food just kept coming. I learned that seafood is often a focus as is considered celebratory cuisine.

Wife and I come here for their salt and pepper squid, fish, fish maw soup, steam chicken. Seriously good food. Definitely try it, and service is really good. Good vibe always here

I think I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant. I found this place on Yelp, really didn't too much of it. But man was I wrong. Not only is the food delicious, but the service is impeccable. Jamie, went above and beyond trying to find out what chicken I wanted. I told her I had this really good chicken in Virginia, and with my limited Chinese, I couldn't differinate between the two types of chicken they had on their menu. She was so patient and took the time to hear me describe and look at my photos, really wanting me to get *the* chicken I had desired. She explained what was what and how they cooked it. I swear, us talking about chicken was probably over 10 minutes. In the end, the chicken we thought was it, wasn't what I had in mind. So we ended up ordering other dishes: peking duck and xiao long bao. Jamie randomly came back and showed her phone saying she found the chicken I was talking about. Man, she really tried to investigate for me, even after we had ordered! I don't know if she's the manager or not but Jamie is truly the best. Now I've had peking duck at various places before but this one beats them all. The skin is so light and crispy while maintaining its flavor. The meat itself is thinly sliced to perfection. Writing about this makes me want to go back already. The soup dumplings were good as well, but the duck is the main star. For desert we had the fried buns, it's a change from the usual steamed buns so I quite enjoyed it.

Our server Jamie was WONDERFUL! The food was incredible too, excellent prices. It was really the service though that put our dinner over the top. I ordered the walnut shrimp (amazing, highly recommend) and it was easily the best I've ever had. Ambience is also really lovely. White table cloths and romantic lighting. We will definitely be back to see Jamie again!

East small restaurant is known for their Cantonese Chinese food. We arrived as a party of six around 7:30 PM on a Saturday evening and we do not have to wait for a table. Although we did have to wait about 20 minutes for food after we ordered. Overall, the vibe is lively, service is friendly in the food is decent. I would recommend the eggplant dish, stirfry noodles and the salt and pepper fish.

Place is clean staff were very friendly. I ordered the kung pao chicken, combo chow mean, and custard buns. The chow mein was nice and crispy and had beef, shrimp, fish balls, and imitation crab meat. The kung pao chicken had a lil heat to it and was flavorful, but lacked the peanuts. The custard buns had a strange consistency. The custard was runny and had sugar grains in it, wasn't very enjoyable. Overall the place is nice, I'd return to try other things on the menu.

The Chinese food here is not limited to one region as they have Peking Ducks to Dim Sum here. This place is really the real taste of China, all of the dishes I had here are very good but the Peking ducks is one of the best in Houston, they also give you the gua bao instead of the typical wheat wrapper. The decoration feels very classy on the inside. The service is top notch here. They also have great bottle fee for BYOB here. You have to visit here for some really good Chinese food with the service to match it.

The food was good. Portions are good enough for 3 people maybe not too bad i guess. The food tasted good and was pretty quick. Walnut shrimp had an interesting flavor i couldn't tell it i liked it or not. I also got the shrimp dumpling which was pretty good. The custard bun i would not get again.

Jamie was very Awesome food and the music was great. I'm going again any chance I get.

My daughter and I had dinner here last night. She wanted Peking Duck so we specifically picked a restaurant that had good reviews for that dish based on other Yelp reviews. The restaurant is located within a huge (must be over 50+ restaurants/shops), very busy busy within Chinatown. Parking can be challenging at times. The decor is a bit dated, but overall pretty clean. The service was very good. We had: Peking Duck (5/5) - Very happy we came to this restaurant for this dish. One of the best we've ever had anywhere. If we craved Peking Duck, we would definitely come back. Xiao Long Bao (4/5) - This was our 2nd favorite dish of the night. A good version of this traditional dumpling dish. Hot and Sour Soup (3.5/5) - Was okay, decent version of this soup. Steamed Prawns w/ garlic and vermicelli (2.5/5) - For me, this was a miss. The "prawns" are just medium-sized shrimp. Pretty flavorless dish overall with a hint of sweetness that wasn't great. I would definitely not order again. For anything other than the duck, we would go to other Chinese restaurants. But we would come back for the duck!

Good food, service was friendly and accommodating. The dining space is small but they managed to fit all of us on to 4 tables of 10. Of course for a party that size you need a reservation. Parking is a pain but there is a garage if you don't mind walking. Food was tasty. We started with roasted duck, chicken, duck feet with mushrooms and chinese broccoli, bitter melon and eggs, mustard greens with salted egg and preserved eggs, steamed fish with olive and steamed fish with soy sauce and lobster with Noodles and mix vegetables. All in all a very tasty meal.

We had the Lo Mein and requested it to be extra spicy- it came out perfect! Egg drop soup can serve four. Service was wonderful.. Another table celebrated a birthday and the restaurants birthday celebration was unique we couldn't help but join. Highly recommend East Wall!

I brought my Chinese father-in-law here who is very picky about food, and he actually enjoyed it which says a lot. I come here at least twice a month and the food is always good and consistent. The flat noodles are one of my favorites and the General Tso's chicken is another solid choice. The flavors are great, the portions are satisfying, and the service is always reliable. This spot never disappoints.

The food was so good! And we love the family style portions definitely makes it worth the price which is still fair! Definitely will be back for the Singapore noodles

I've been coming to East Wall for several years now and always have a great family style meal here. I have fond memories of coming with my dad to enjoy the Peking duck and when they made me a believer it is truly #1. The service is attentive and may get a little challenging when it's busy but they will come around and check on you. We've celebrated birthdays, holidays, and just eating with friends days here. They do allow BYOB with a corkage fee and we've seen plenty of parties bring in cakes to celebrate as well. Parking can get tricky but there are garages in that plaza.

This place is decent. The food was good, and the service was fine overall--a solid spot to bring the family for a casual meal. That said, the experience wasn't perfect. We asked for soy sauce three times and never got it, which was frustrating. Small details like that make a difference, and it felt like they dropped the ball. The food was okay--nothing amazing, but it got the job done. While it's a good option for a family outing, the service issues and lack of standout flavors make it hard to rate any higher.

Such a great place. The service was outstanding, so attentive and answered all our questions. The food was delicious especially the Peking duck. Also noodles and hot pot were amazing.

East Wall is worth our drive! The food, service, and atmosphere is great. Our family enjoyed the orange chicken, salt and pepper prawns, kung pow beef, sizzling noodles with chicken, dumplings, eggrolls and hot and sour soup. Our server was super helpful. We will certainly be back!

Went here with a group of friends and the food was very delicious! I don't remember the names of everything we ate, but I really enjoyed most dishes. The sweet and sour fish was yummy and we also ordered duck too. The eggplant dish was yummy, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the honey walnut shrimp. Servers were great and attentive.

Tried this place randomly since the other place I enjoy wasn't open . This place was not an upset everything fresh and very authentic. The service is normal nothing to be wowed about the ambiance is chill . I'm not big on Chinese food but was in the mood for some and glad I ran into this place I'd recommend if you are a Chinese food lover definitely check it out . I've attached photos of what we had all was great freshly made and full of flavor .

First time here, food was great and stomachs are full! Their staff were very friendly and attentive. I would recommend and come here again. Came here on Mother's Day and there was no wait, which was nice. Also, food came out pretty quick just as fast our appetite was (as you can tell by the picture hahaha).

We ordered The Peking duck, walnut shrimp and a vegetable dish with tea, everything was fantastic, well prepared, great flavor. I loved specially the Peking duck, is the best I have tried in Houston. The waitresses were attentive and helpful, very friendly. It was a great experience overall. I will definitely comeback.

First time here and it was for dinner with some Yelp friends. There was 12 of us in total, with that being said the wait staff took amazing care of us. From refilling drinks, serving dishes and just being attentive, we never had to look for anyone to help us. This establishment does allow BYOB. Sadly I can not remember the names of all the dishes everything was amazing and was a mixture of so many great flavors. A few dishes that really stood out for me was the Duck for sure. Perfectly cooked and tender! The lobster was another dish that made its presence known! Lobster had a great buttery, garlic taste. The last dish that really surprised me was the shrimp and eggs. It looked pretty simple as it's just scrambled eggs with shrimp but the flavor profile was unbelievable. It was one of the dishes I kept getting more of. I'm ready to go back and try some more dishes!

Looking for somewhere good to eat, while shopping. Based on past reviews, we tried and were not disappointed. Authentic delicious food and excellent service. They were even were able to accommodate me, and make my food with no soy sauce , due to my gluten allergy. Totally recommend..

I have been coming to East Wall for the past 4 years with my family and it has been consistently AMAZING every visit! I highly recommend the salt and pepper fish, orange chicken, and pepper steak! We will continue to eat here and recommend bringing your family.

I love East Wall, it's been our staple for the past 15 years. All dishes are very authentic and the price is very reasonable. Besides the authentic taste, customer service is top notch, everyone is friendly and they treat you like family! If you haven't been to East Wall, you have to try!

It feels like this place has been in Dun Huang Plaza ever since the plaza originally opened, and I can see why. It's a solid Cantonese restaurant with mostly Cantonese speaking aunties. They also have high chairs for kids so I'd call it pretty kid friendly. Some dishes that are stand out to me: -Salt and pepper squid: this place fries the squid with basil which gives it a lot of flavor -Princess chicken 貴妃雞: the best I've had in Houston. It has the gelatinous shiny coating from being soaked in a marinade broth and is super flavorful -Duck soup: you can order it for an extra $5 when you order peking duck. Their version is the best in Houston to me because they do not skimp on the duck bones, making the soup extra flavorful. Plus it comes in a huge bowl, so it's a good price. -Tofu stuffed with shrimp: I hate tofu and I like this dish. The tofu is light and airy and the shrimp paste in the middle gives it a lot of flavor. Skip: -The duck fried rice you can order for $5 with the peking duck was just aite to me. I'd rather order another one of their fried rices.

It was our first time here. We ordered the general tso, beef lo mein, and king pao chicken. All 3 dishes were very savory. We enjoyed our experience here. Will be coming back.

O.M.G. the best peking duck is right here! I've had many peking duck dishes before from all over the country but this is one of my favorites! The duck was so crispy and flavorful and the buns were so fluffy. I also chose to make remainder of the duck as a soup and/or a stir fry - both were delicious! There was an additional few dollars added for the soup and stir fry but it's soooo worth it! I came back to this restaurant a few days later because it was that good! Definitely a traditional hong kong style restaurant (my parent's favorite!) The other soups, clay pots and vegetable stir frys were delicious! The one thing I wouldn't really recommend are the soup dumplings - they were quite small and not enough soup. I highly recommend this spot if you want some authentic cantonese food!!

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Chinatown! Jenny and Jaime are always wonderful and friendly. Every dish is made fresh and delicious! I have celebrated graduations and birthdays here! Always excellent!

The Rice Noddles with Chicken never fails and the customer service is always top notch!!!!! P.S. Tell them to hold the soy sauce if you have gluten allergies.

Place was packed Sunday night. Seated and served quickly. Food was delicious. Got salt pepper soft shell crab, pecking duck with stir fry, combination fried rice, and shumai. Great place for Sunday dinner with the family.

Wife and I have been many times in last couple years. All the dishes we have been well seasoned. Vegetables are crisp and meats tender not chewy or dry. Service has always been polite and prompt. Nicely decorated and proper lighting. Only thing is a mess of wire and cables seen from side of tv. We have always enjoyed our meals here.

Tried East Wall for the first time and it was such a great experience. The staff was super welcoming, the food was fresh and flavorful, and the atmosphere made it feel really comfortable. Already planning on coming back!

Rice is no longer included with any dish said the East Wall manager. East Wall was our favorite restaurant. They used to serve a bowel of rice for free with each dish we ordered and charged us for additional rice. Yesterday, we ordered a soup and three main dishes for four of us. We had four bowels of steam rice and were charged for three of them. After we asked the manager and waitress twice (in both English and Mandarin) the manager said she could give us two bowels of rice without charge and she changed the bill. When we asked her why it is different this time she said clearly in both English and Chinese that rice is NOT included with any dish because rice is very expensive now. NO MATTER WHICH DISH, HOW MANY DISHES PEOPLE ORDER, RICE IS NOT INCLUDED. So, don't forget to order rice if you go there because Chinese food is too salty without rice. 东禾酒家的经理说，现在所有菜品都不包含米饭了。 东禾酒家以前是我们最喜欢的餐厅。以前他们每点一道菜都会免费提供一碗米饭，如果加米饭的话要另外收费。昨天，我们四个人点了一份汤和三个主菜。我们吃了四碗米饭，却要付三碗的钱。我们用英语和普通话问了经理和服务员两次，经理说可以免费给我们两碗米饭，然后给我们改了账单。我们问她为什么这次不一样，她用英语和中文清楚地告诉我们，任何菜品都不包含米饭，因为现在米饭很贵。无论点什么菜、多少菜，米饭都不包含在内。所以，去那里的时候别忘了点米饭，因为没有米饭中餐就太咸了。

First time in this area... and highly authentic and tasty food! Recommend a stop here if you're in this part of town.... It does not disappoint!

Lots of competition here off Bellaire for Chinese . Been here at East Wall x 2 now. Service is excellent. Milieu inside depends if it busy weekend night or slow early weekday dinner. But inside definitely stimulating. Had the hot/sour soup 3/5 . Deep fried salt pepper squid 4/5 . Chicken tofu salted fish hot pot 3/5. Beef with Chinese broccoli 4/5 and Twice cook PORK 5/5. Many places have OLD UGLY tasting PORK but their KO RO is a definite WINNER. Would like to give a cumulative 4/5 but you get a sense that inflation/competition is starting crack the East Wall. Watch out -- comparatively expensive $$ here .

East Wall has been my family favorite place to eat. I celebrated my engagement, graduation and other family affairs here! Service and food is great! They have a private room for gatherings to be intimate. Date nights with my husband and I, depending on the night we come, it could be clam or chaos. Weekend can be a crowded house. The menu have a wide of varieties appetizers, seafood, hot pot, dim sum, poultry and desserts.

Some Yelpers mentioned this so I bookmarked it. Finally got to experience this on a Wednesday night to celebrate a birthday with a group of Yelpers and couldn't be more thrilled with the experience. Wait staff is on top of their game, the menu is extensive, and it's BYOB. There was about 10 of us total when we arrived. Since everything was family-style served, we ordered an abundance of dishes which included the following (based on my hazy memory): Salt & Pepper crispy shrimp - 7/10 Handmade steamed pork dumplings - 8/10 Xiao long bao (soup dumplings) - 9/10 Shrimp fried rice - 8/10 Beef chow fun - 10/10 Peking Duck - 10/10 Chinese broccoli - 10/10 Crispy noodles - 8/10 So pretty much every dish ranged from very good to great. The crispy shrimp, fried rice, pork dumplings, and crispy noodles were all solid. The xiao long bao was delicious as well. We had some in the group who never had it before and they were raving about it afterwards. The winners were clearly the beef chow fun, chinese broccoli, and peking duck. The beef chow fun is a staple amongst chinese dishes and this place does it well with the tender beef and mix of thick noodles, bean sprouts, and scallions. Throw a bit of chili oil on it for some spice and BOOM! Chinese broccoli is a delicate vegetable in chinese cuisine with the garlic and hints of soy sauce mixed in. I love putting some of the duck sauce on each piece before eating it. Who said vegetables have to be boring! And of course the winner and what everyone comes here for is the peking duck. It's tender, flavorful, and I love the presentation where it's served sliced with some of the skin trimmings and scallions in the center. Comes with several bao instead of those chinese pancakes which is a nice touch. And they take the remaining duck trimmings and serve that as a sitr-fry with onions, peppers, and bean sprouts; I wish more places with peking duck would do this! Great way to utilize every piece of the duck! Each of us brought a bottle of wine so it was a fun eat/drink fest amongst friends/YELPERs. I can't believe it took me this long to check this place out. Definitely cannot wait to come here and do this again!

I just had my first Peking duck experience here and boy was it ever so marvelous. A large group of friends and I came here for dinner and the staff was so accommodating. Our table was set and ready to go and they handled us like champs. The drinks never went empty, empty plates didn't sit for long and they kept it nice and clean the whole time. East Wall is located in the famous Dun Huang Plaza. Parking can be a little tricky but here is a parking garage as a last resort. When I come to places that are unfamiliar to me, I am more than willing to let the experts order for me. We ended up doing a family feast deal which came with a preset menu, but also ordered some items a la carte. I would totally be lying if I knew the names of every dish we got, but everything we had was outstanding. We started off with a seafood soup that was light and just a peak into what was to come. After that we had a barrage of food hit the table. The first main to come out was the Peking duck. It was served with pillowy steamed buns. When you join those two together along with green onions, cucumbers and hoisin sauce, it makes for the most wonderful delicious bite. I am a huge fan! What I also like that they do is that they make a stir fry with the leftover duck and bring it out to you nice and hot. I won't go on and on about every dish, but close behind the duck was the salt and pepper squid, walnut shrimp, fish fillets and bok choy and mushrooms. Those dishes were also very tasty. Honorable mention goes to all the other dishes because there wasn't anything I did not like. The amazing service and delicious food with good company made for an amazing experience here. I would totally come back here again!

First time. Food was below average. Maybe bc we didn't order their famous duck. The salt and pepper squid had way too much batter and was way too fried compared to the many other places I've had it at. Service was decent. The ambiance was the best part - beautiful and traditional - but it wasn't beautiful enough to warrant a second visit. With sooo many choices for chinese restaurants in Houston, this is sadly also our last time to this restaurant. We will head WEST next time. Lol.
