"Conveniently set up inside the same Chinatown strip mall as Roy Choi’s Chego, this teeny but beautifully curated vintage store is arguably one of the best in L.A. It’s also the place you want to be when hunting down the perfect pair of vintage Levi’s—the selection here isn’t necessarily vast, but each piece is lovingly chosen, washed, and repaired by the owners themselves to look its best. There are also band t-shirts, army jackets, and a few racks of dresses—all in excellent shape. If pins and patches are your thing, the semi-annual pin-and-patch parties are a totally gold mine. "

Randomly stumbled across this shop as I was checking out Chinatown but so glad I found it. The owner Dennis was super chill and friendly and the store itself was really nice with some cool vintage pieces and clothing made from old t shirts. Will definitely be back next time I’m in LA.

It’s warm and friendly here and this is the ultimate in sustainable retail. The owner hand dyes garments from food wastes (avocado skins & pits, lemon peels) and other natural elements such as turmeric, eucalyptus, coffee, etc. Has garments & shoes made from excess fabrics that would otherwise go to the landfill or made into shop rags.

This little store is such a gem in the rough. Everytime I come to LA i make sure to visit and I always walk away with some of the most worn and coolest clothing I own. The owners are amazing people who have a passion for sustainability and are Trail Blazers in the space. They are also on top of fashion and knows what looks good on all different shaped bodies. I love east west shop.

Welcoming staff and dope clothing! Visiting from the Bay Area, I am so glad I stopped by during my trip.

Terrible selection of clothing and incredibly overpriced… sorry. Seems a bit like a tourist trap or for people who don’t know the value of clothes or have taste. Edit: in response to the owner, I didn’t write this review in anger. I was recommended this store by a friend, and was disappointed by the selection of garments and the prices. The person working in the store was friendly, my review is not a personal attack. I came all the way to the store by bus and found it to be a waste of time. Sorry!

Google
Great selection, so much cool stuff! Wide range of prices for what you’re willing to spend, but there’s all kinds of great pieces at any price. Most are recycled or handmade, lots of vintage. There’s also very cheap gorgeous pins & trinkets. Mr. Dennis is the nicest person to talk with, very friendly and made it a lovely experience. He even gave us some free seeds. I wish I could stay forever and I would come back any day, one of my favorite shops!! Also lots of yummy food in the plaza while you shop :)

Great selection of patches and rings! They’ve got some rad vintage clothes with good fabrics and new things too. I also got a pair of shoes that one of the owners designed! Very slick.

East West Shop is one of the coolest and most unique stores in Chinatown and all of Los Angeles. The store is owned and operated by an awesome couple, who care deeply about the community and are passionate about sustainability. As a society, we are producing too much and filling our Earth with trash. East West is trying to make a difference by saving and up-cycling perfectly good clothes. The store also offers a large selection of vintage and custom clothing. In addition, they have collaborations with local artists, who design t-shirts and other clothing for them. The store also carries other retail goods such as natural candles and soaps, some cool and unique jewelry, and even Palo Santo IYKYK! As a long time resident of Chinatown, I am very grateful that the shop is in the community. I’ve purchased numerous items from store and they have made me look and feel better. Thank you East West Shop!!

Yelp
Although this shop is little, it is very good for it's size! They stock a good amount of dead stock kids vintage and some cool reworked pieces too. Their vintage selection is honestly on the smaller side but you can tell whoever does the buying has a great eye. You will find quality vintage such as silk dresses and silk tops- nothing gross and cheap. The owners are very nice too. They always greet you warmly but also allow you to shop in peace. They have even offered to help me track down more of their dead stock jewelry when I needed it for a job. Finally, I really like how they give you a little bag of wildflower seeds with purchase! It is such a sweet little bonus that leaves me with a smile every time!

Yelp
East West shop is the place to go if you want to find something uniquely upcycled. You can find high quality, locally bespoke LA pieces along with amazing reworked garments. They created a year of the rat shirt that's really unique and cool. If you want to find something not many have plus you can say it's native to LA then come here!

Yelp
Located in a shopping mall in Chinatown, this store is a hidden gem. While I don't always find something here, when I do, I really love the piece. They have a selection of vintage clothing, dead stock items, and new items. My brother and I have found all sorts of great stuff here from a vintage Packers Favre jersey to Sanrio shirts exclusively made for this store. What's cool about the Sanrio clothes is that they're made from dead stock. What this means is that it's made from new fabric that was discarded by the fashion industry. Oftentimes, businesses will order tons of fabric, make their items, and have leftover fabric. This fabric becomes dead stock and often lands up in the trash, even though it's perfectly good. So, it's cool that the store finds uses for this fabric. Staff is always friendly and helpful, which makes shopping here a pleasure.

Yelp
--LOCATION-- first floor of the little mall place that Howlin' Rays is located, in the center of the mall near the bathrooms --PARKING-- meter or parking garages; I don't think there's free parking unless you're coming from another complimentary parking place? --MERCH-- new and vintage items! Super dope shop with men and women's clothing and stuffs. From memory: +women's clothing +women's accessories (wallets, purses, hats, etc) +men's clothing +men's shoes +men's accessories and grooming items? +vintage embroidered patches (i.e., name tags) +jewelry +East/West seems to be their brand (new stuff), otherwise it is mixed in with the lot of vintage items I really like most of the style in this shop. It has a 90s feel, I think. But, it is definitely mixed in with older items. I noticed the price range is between $5-$300. Jeans averaged maybe $45-$65 Tops averaged $15-$45 ??? There's a small dressing "room" corner where you can try on the stuff. It is a white drape that is very private. --SERVICE-- very nice lady when I was in the shop. She was not overbearing; she let me do my thing peacefully. When I did end up buying an item, she was friendly and sweet. She even gave me a bag of flower seeds!!! Yay +Tax is written off if you're a student --OVERALL-- worth a visit! Glad I went in (:

Yelp
Great 2nd hand clothing shop! I've come in here to browse 2-3 times now and finally found something that caught my eye! A men's Levi jean jacket for $95. The jacket didn't smell and it was in great shape still :) Score! I asked the ladies at the cash register how the find their clothing and the said from ALL OVER. No specific city either. Goodwill, thrift shops, garage sales, estate sales, etc. Their goal is to prevent as much clothing as possible from going into landfill. They even restore items before selling them (I saw an employee working on a pocket when I was checking out). The items lean towards a more vintage style and can be pricey but just think about how much work and time the put in to find the pieces and restore them if necessary. Check it out!

Yelp
A cute, intimate clothing shop hidden away in a shopping plaza. They hosted a Pin & Patch Show that I attended about two months ago. It was successful and I copped some really dope pins, including a pin that my friend created. They showcased the pins and patches on a large table, numbering them individually. A checklist was provided to whomever desired to make a purchase. Just check off the box with the corresponding number of the pin or patch and then hand it over to the cashier. The space is a fair size but due to a large turn out, it was a little crowded. In addition to the pins and patches, there was the usual clothes, shoes, accessories, etc. that was available for purchase. The store is very open. The entrance is the size of a garage door and the large beach window makes the store very visible to passersby. Overall, the store is very inviting! Copping a few pins, a lovely lady helped ring me up and alongside her was an adorable little boy. He was her helper and he was such a delight! He checked my list and relied the pins I wanted to the lady. After gathering all the pins I desired, he packed it all away in a paper bag, very neatly. He was so adorable! I am looking forward to many more shows and regular visits when I'm around the area!

Yelp
Great selection of old Levi's jeans, military overshirts, denim jackets, leather jackets, varsity/bomber jackets, etc. I was especially impressed with the men's sweaters, which included a lot of beefy cable-knits for under $50. The prices are also really, really good. It's a happy medium between digging through five Goodwills in the hopes of finding one really cheap gem and shopping at really expensive curated vintage stores where a moth-eaten, stained sweater is $200 (because "character"). Go here before/after Chego or while waiting for your food. But make sure to also go to Chego at some point.

Yelp
The shop is very neat, clean and organized. The items are nicely curated with a great selection. There isn't a great selection in sizes for the vintage items. They have new merchandise as well that was very pricey. A cotton crop top was $60! I nearly died. Great places for patches, pins, and denim if you can afford it ! definitely a three dollar sign shop.

Yelp
I haven't been to China Town in a while, so seeing new shops opening up in the plaza was a great change. Right next the Chego, this little hidden gem is a store I couldn't resist. I'm a big sucker when it comes to vintage stores with pins, patches and cool items/clothes. The young ladies who work there are the sweetest and very knowledgable! I wasn't hesitant to ask any questions about a certain style pin I've never seen before. It is a tinier shop, but it truly is one of my favorites! Hope to see more items from artists who make nice pins, patches, and clothing. I will come again to buy more pins and items for myself!

Yelp
Possibly my favorite little clothing shop in LA! Reliably great vintage finds including items the shop makes themselves--unique denim jackets, high-waisted tailored pants, refurbished 80s and 90s tops and bottoms, special tees and tanks and more created from deadstock fabric and sometimes dyed using vegetable dye. You're bound to leave with some gems every time you visit!

Yelp
Since they moved into the DAT Music storefront in June, East/West has been catching my eye every time I eat next door at Chego. (super often.) After lunch today, I finally wandered in. Erin, the owner/founder, was friendly, chatty, and super knowledgeable, and we wound up talking for over an hour about Japanese secondhand stores, her career at OBEY, the Koreatown food scene, and mutual connections in the Hong Kong rap industry. Their stock was impeccably curated, with each rack themed differently: from customized vintage military fatigues to Americana chain-stitched team jackets, to very '70s-ish tie-dye and peasant blouses, to a selection of #veryrare# pins and patches. All of the items are personally picked from vintage sources or buzzy artists like Stugazi. Prices are immensely fair - only slightly more expensive than Wastelands or Buffalo Exchange, with far more character and curation than the fun but uneven racks at those franchised thrift/secondhanders. The most expensive item, a very well-made women's leather jacket with ornate embroidery, was labeled $150, and accessories ranged from $1-25, with tees around $25-30, and outerwear $35 and up. I wasn't planning on buying anything when I walked in, but after our chat, I found myself debating between a $65 vintage Italian long military wool coat and a $45 M-65 jacket. Since this is SoCal, I went with the M-65 - but the next time I'm at Chego, I might leave Chinatown with a wool coat in tow.

Yelp
What a cool find! I was just walking around Chinatown and found this spot. I bought a few shirts and love 'em. Julie was super helpful. They play fun music inside too :)

Yelp
I recommend anyone wanting to see a very unique clothing store to come here. My boyfriend and I loved the place and the owner is super nice! She took the time to explain all of her vintage pieces and the stories behind them and we really enjoyed it! I was able to find my boyfriend his name in the basket full of name tag patches she has collected over the years and they are real name tags that people actually used! I love this place

Yelp
super great owners that care about the environment, take the time to get to know their customers, and are passionate about their craft :-)

Yelp
One of my favorites in LA! I never walk out of this store empty handed. Beautiful collection of men and women's vintage clothing, I've purchased some of my favorite items here. From a lame halter top to a sheer angelic cape. Also, don't ever underestimate the $5 bin! The girls at the shop are so friendly and very stylish, which is why I keep coming back again and again!

Yelp
I found THE coolest vintage pieces at this store. The owner definitely has a great sense of style, and the clothes were all in good condition at a great price! I'm looking forward to visiting again.

Yelp
We recommend stopping into this intimate vintage shop BEFORE you stuff your face at Chego's (right next door). They have a great selection of t-shirts, jackets, and accessories and most items are under $60. The shop focuses on the idea that handicraft skills should be celebrated, so also offer community classes. The gals behind the counter were super friendly, and the tunes were top-notch as well. Great local spot to support!

Yelp
Great collection of vintage pieces and a super friendly owner who knows what she's talking about (she worked in fashion design for many years).
