Eastenders Pie & Mash

When I travel, I love trying traditional dishes for wherever I’m at, and in England, one of those dishes is the pie & mash. I researched the top pie & mash places in London, in hopes of trying a couple different ones. The first we tried was Eastenders. It was quite delicious. I ordered the Traditional Pie & Mash, and my wife got the Chicken, Ham, & Leek Pie and Mash. They were a little small (if you wanted a filling meal, I’d suggest getting at least two), but full of flavor. Don’t sweat it tho, the prices are very reasonable. For the uninitiated, this dish is essentially like a little pot pie with a side of mashed potatoes. And then the dish is covered with a rich, flavorful gravy. The woman who helped us was very friendly, and explained the dishes to the tourists who were excited to try something new. The food came out quickly, and we gobbled it up. When we were done, we thanked the nice lady and left. The restaurant had a diner vibe, and was very clean. Eastenders is not fine dining by any means, but it’s a very tasty place to try a delicious traditional dish whilst in London

My mum used to bring me and my brothers here and we always loved it. Recently visited for pie and mash, and took away cake and custard. It was just as good as I remember, excellent pie, mash, and liquor. The cake and custard was amazing too. Will be coming here more often.

Superb pie and mash, first time visiting the UK and always wanted to try a few places. Definitely a fan now, my favourite so far.

Wonderful traditional pie and mash, fantastic atmosphere, lovely staff. The nicest Apple Crumble I have ever eaten. A gem! Going back again in a couple of weeks, before a West Ham game.

Been here twice and it's the best that I've had. The pies are fresh and the meat is good quality, Feels like home away from home. It brings me warm feelings of nostalgia. Also, remember kids, you're never too old to have school cake 🎂

Lovely no frills tasty pie and mash. Vegetarian butternut squash pie tastes just as good as any meat version. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely amazing pie and mash and apple crumble with custard, really delicious and traditional English food, one of the best English food I’ve ever had. Service is fast, kind and friendly. Prices are not expensive at all. It’s an historical place with lots of history and with lovely staff and it feels like home. You can’t find another place like this around London. We will definitely be back with friends and family. I would highly recommend to residents as well as tourists to visit this special restaurant.

The most authentic pie shop so far: not run down as other competitors, very clean, apple crumble recommended. Pie&mash, dessert and drink for less than £10. Mash is less buttery than elsewhere, so healthier and plenty of liquor on top.
