"This two-story spot in the International district reminds us of a college town cafe in the middle of finals week. Most people in here are tapping away relentlessly on their keyboards, eating Nutella-filled crepes, and mixing caffeine and IPA as if it weren’t 9:45 in the morning. You’ll probably enjoy it even if you don’t have a 16-page paper due the next day that you certainly didn’t start yet." - Aimee Rizzo

One of a kind coffee shops in seattle. Traditional paper menu, the person explained the specials and also recommended their unique coffee produce and in house charm that they add. We ended up taking turkish cortado which I think was really good. Must try!

Excellent crêpes (sweet or savory)! I had the vegetarian and added an egg to it. Good vibe, great place to meet up and chat or work on your computer (80% of the people here while I ate my lunch and enjoyed my afternoon coffee, while working on my computer, were working on their computer).

Nice cafe in the International District, Their crape was very good. Small but good menu selections. They have upstairs as well. Pretty neat place to relax by yourself and/or meet with friend (s). Street parking only.

Living in the international district, this will be my go to spot. The crepes, breakfast sandwich, and coffee were all 5 stars and the staff was very friendly, helpful and non-pretentious which created a welcoming environment. Well done Eastern Cafe! We will be back 🙂 May 2022 update: Eastern is back after being closed during covid. They are even better than before. Truely, the best lattes I've had in Seattle (I've had a lot!). While they don't make crepes anymore, they have a new chef starting next week that will be making some menu changes. Fingers crossed for crepes!

Google
Genuinely some of the best coffee I've had thus far! They've got the simple like lattes and espresso's nailed down-- 0 acidity, super smooth, accompanied with some really delicious tones. Typically I feel like a lot of coffee shops that have really cool latte art lack flavor, but there's something special to be had in every drink. The matcha lattes aren't overpoweringly sweet, and the flavor cuts through and settles on the palate nicely. The chai here is also incredibly good. I feel like out of every chai I've tried (and even personally made) doesn't stand a chance to the wonderful bite to be found in Eastern's take on a classic. Good food definitely offers a tempting incentive to swing by every once in awhile, but what really gets me coming back is the service and genuine connection waiting to be made here. Damien just so happens to be the guy that rings me up, and he's always got something interesting to add or say-- great conversations will typically always precede some equally as good beverages. The best part about this cafe? Showing old friends their new favorite spot.

After trying to find a comfortable place in Chinatown to stop for a bite while waiting for a ride, we thankfully found the Eastern Cafe. Nice open space with a great upstairs. The staff was super nice to us. We ordered an espresso tonic, a chai tea latte, and their veggie sandwich. It was nice to see that they took their time and put care into each item. While it took longer than one might be used to at other cafes, it was well worth it. The chai tea latte was one of the best we've tried. The espresso tonic was something I'd read about and had to try. It was an experience, looks great and the dried citrus touch was really nice. I'm not sure if I'm sold on the drink, but it was pretty good. Our veggie sandwich was fantastic, just what we needed for an afternoon snack to split. The balance of flavors and textures was great, it was very enjoyable. I'd definitely come back.

Google
This was a favorite spot when I lived in the ID. The seven days a week happy hour often got me in with the cheap draft beers. And free pretzels to munch on too! The space is fun and very unassuming. I did knock off a star for the less than stellar staff. I'll often wait at the register while they finish a personal conversation, and they're usually irritated by my presence. But for $3 beers, I'll deal with it!

Google
Updated review as of 2/19: quality has gone down with more limited menu items. Music volume has also gone up, so feels like they're losing what made this place great. Great local atmosphere, with tasty food options & freshly made meals. Coffee & tea choices are excellent and they have a nice happy hour for many drinks, including cider. Wi-Fi is sufficient, but drops occasionally. Street level & loft seating give an open & fresh feel to the place.

Yelp
Eastern cafe is a spacious and chill cafe located in China International district. It's attached to the Eastern hotel. Food: I got the avocado toast and peach ginger black tea! They use French bread for their toast and it was so crispy and fluffy. I love the idea of using French bread! They also had a great tea collection as well as unique and seasonal coffee beverages. I noticed Yelp had a lot of photos with crepes as well but there was no crepe menu when I came so I was a little sad to not see it. Ambiance: this place is perfect for solo or collaborative working. I saw alot of artists and writers here and I also personally came to get some work done. This cafe has SO much seating upstairs and downstairs and there are also ample outlets around to keep your devices charged. HIGHLY recommend for a chill morning. Service: everyone was great, they churned our drinks pretty quickly and insisted that they bring my food to me which was very kind (probably safer for them to walk the food up stairs lol) Overall, I'll definitely be returning alone and maybe even with some friends to have a productive day and knock out some work or to draw.

Jihea S.

Yelp
It's a cool space to check out with a loft area with seating. I recommend for chatting with friends or maybe plugging in and working for a bit. I got the purple rain which was just alright and would like to try their coffee sometime. Service was just fine- not great but also not bad.

Yelp
Prob one of my favorite cafes now. Walked into this spot after a late lunch today to read a book with a pastry and a matcha oat milk latte. No disappointments here: great pastry, great food, awesome people, vibrant light coming in, nice cozy nooks upstairs, perfect temperature, chill clientele, wholesome chalk wall and art in the bathroom and some unique non-lofi cafe music. If I had a cafe, I'd like it to look and feel like this one hands down.

Jeremy G.

Yelp
Laid back cafe. Welcoming service. One of those cafe you come to unwind, maybe even try to solve world hungry and police brutality. This is a spot you come to brainstorm change. Maybe even sing some Pac. Haven't had any food but the Elevated Thai Tea was on point. Had the flavors with a shot of espresso. Most definitely going to have a caffeine headache!

Yelp
After trying to find a comfortable place in Chinatown to stop for a bite while waiting for a ride, we thankfully found the Eastern Cafe. Nice open space with a great upstairs. Yelp
Nice chill vibe. We spent a couple of hours here upstairs catching up with a friend. Love the honey and condensed milk toast with a caffeinated drink - hits just all the right spots. If you want an unpretentious location to just relax and enjoy a coffee/tea this is the place for you.

Yelp
Eastern Cafe reopen after a brief closure during the pandemic. They have a new food menu that is vegetarian and well as great patries and cookies as well. They have great coffee selections and options as well. I love its coffee ice cubes, which won't water down your drink when it melts. They have a few outdoor seating, and it has a relaxing ambiance where you can study or have a good conversation in, especially on its 2nd level.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Around the area and I was looking for coffee. Tried the eastern iced latte here, tasted pretty good.

Yelp
Eastern Cafe is one of the only few cafes/coffee spots in the International District and it's a good one. I've been here a few times for a drink, non-alcoholic and alcoholic, and I've always had a pleasant experience. In my most recent visit I was waiting to have lunch with a friend nearby, so decided to visit Eastern Cafe and read until she was ready. On a weekday before lunch time, the place wasn't too busy, but there were a few people, most of them working on their laptops. It's nice to have that option here, especially since they have free wifi and spacious seating on the lower and upper levels. I ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee and it was good, and really liked that it tasted mostly of the bold coffee flavor than the sweetness from the condensed milk. I would get this drink again, if not tempted by the other various beverages they offer here. They have a full espresso menu, with seasonal specialties, pastries and more savory items like sandwiches and crepes. When I've visited at night they've offered cocktails! There's something for everyone here. And on a nice day they do have a few patio tables and chairs parked outside the entrance. Eastern Cafe is a much-needed business in the International District, serving a range of drinks and offering a welcoming space for work and play.

Yelp
Hey I'm back! This is my second time here. Same disappointment of the lack of knowledge in making coffee. This time is not just the latte but the espresso. Um, it's so bitter as if they left the ground coffee out in the open. This time I ordered a almond milk latte and they STILL don't understand the differences between latte and cappuccino. Also you can taste the lack of skill. I think this place is pretty overrated to this point. No improvement is quite a big deal to me. If the owner don't think they value to learn and do better at their coffee as a cafe in Seattle, well bye-bye forever. I guess people like their crepes and sandwiches. I wanted to get a breakfast there too but once I saw he used the crepe pan to grill the sandwich??!?!?! Nope thanks. Wow. Nooooo. Especially I worked at a crepe place and KNOW that thing is hard to clean and y'all better not put all them oil and cheese on it and use that to make crepe? Mmm. If you're a cafe that can't have all the equipment to make your food, please consider just shorten your menu and make those items better instead. I am a coffee head so this place is a no go. A shame too cause I work near Chinatown and this is pretty close to me. Well, I'll walk further for that elm coffee now. Thanks Eastern for all the "not trying to be better" and I'm gonna get some walks for coffee now. Win win I guess? Ha.

Yelp
Best apple cheese danish I've ever had. Brought back fall memories! And food was overall great

Yelp
Cool spot in Chinatown with great coffee and plenty of room for a laptop to get some work done.

Yelp
Eastern Cafe is a pretty cool spot if you're looking to work remotely in the Industrial District/Chinatown area. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall sort of place. Kind of non-descript from the outside and then the inside is definitely... Lived in. LOL. The walls are completely chipped of their paint, but the menu board is cute and lively as is the seating and crowd. The bathrooms are upstairs in the loft area - I was originally thinking of sitting in the loft, but heat rises... So it was WARM up there compared to the lower level. I was lucky enough to get a seat with some outlets - I didn't do a ton of searching around to see how available they are but the seat I chose right by the door was perfect for plugging in my laptop. I ended up going with an iced vanilla latte and a roast beef sandwich - I originally asked for a decaf latte, but they were all out of decaf. I also asked for tuna, but that was the only sandwich they no longer carry... So had to switch my order up a little bit. The latte was good - definitely on the sweet side but I didn't mind. They come in cute mason jars, too! The sandwich was far from the best thing I've had. Lots of lettuce, on it's way to wilting, and the roast beef GROSSED me out. It had a ton of knots in it and made it so hard to chew. The cut of roast beef was so thick... Both of those things together made it feel like I was eating raw meat. Maybe it's just my pregnancy stomach, but I couldn't eat it all because it was just not my thing. They also put huge slices of red onion on it. The plate that my sandwich came on was super sticky on the bottom and the plate where my sandwich was resting was dirty. All in all, I'm glad I checked it out because it definitely has a cute atmosphere and cool photo ops, but I'm not sure I would come back.

Yelp
I walked in wanting crepes since I know that they had crepes before. However, the worker there informed me that it was just him and the only thing he could make was vegan tacos. I decided to give it a try...and I'm glad I did! The vegan tacos themselves are flavorful and I was given hot sauce. The tacos also came with salad, avocado, chips, and two apple slices which were a very nice surprise for me. Everything was seasoned and yummy! The cold coffee is...cold coffee lol. Nothing much can go wrong. I will come back again to try the other foods!

Matt U.

Yelp
Nice little hipster cafe located just down from Hing Hay Park in the international district. We ventured in after a Chinese New Year celebration when it started to get super cold and the kiddos needed something warmer than my hands. Two levels are at your disposal with a huge table on one half of the downstairs and lots of 2-4 person tables elsewhere. They serve caffeinated goodness, libations (beer and wine) as well as crepes and sandwiches. I just had a coffee and it was quite nice. What was less nice was the organization scheme. The ladies up here called out orders in very quiet voices and if they drink/food wasn't claimed quickly, it was taken back to the kitchen. I'm sure the place isn't normally swamped, but while it was, it was relatively unorganized. Easy thing to fix and certainly doesn't take away from the cool, chill vibe of the place...it just made it frustrating for me and the other 14 people waiting for their orders. The murals on the bathroom walls are hilarious and make for an even more enjoyable than normal visit to the loo! Definitely a spot we'd check out again if we're in the area, but only if it's not super busy.

Arkade V.

Yelp
Great friendly staff! Good food. Great coffee! Love the artwork of local artists featured!

Yelp
The coffee and drinks are still good but the level of service at this cafe has slid into the depths of "not my problem." Came in today with a smile on my face and optimism in my heart and the cashier at the counter had such an attitude that I almost turned into the grinch. Almost. Can't nobody tarnish my shine and I've been listening to A LOT of Lizzo lately so nobody is coming for my happiness, ya heard? But back to that cashier. I asked the name of a pastry and she said "I don't know" like she was my 12-year-old daughter answering the question, "Where is your homework?" The barista stepped in to answer and seemed to be playing good cop, but once you have the impression that YOU are the problem, the thorn in someone's side, the reason why they are impatient, and the obstacle standing in the way of their deep, inner happiness, that feeling doesn't go away. From the beginning of the sale to the end, I felt like I wasn't welcome and I was asking stupid questions and why did the line get so long and why is this stupid customer still here? My iced matcha latte, although good, was not great enough to withstand another withering look from Ms. Hot Shit, so I won't be coming back here again. Eastern, please provide your staff with customer service training or hire some actual old school LOCALS who don't believe in the Seattle Freeze and then we can talk.

Marielle J.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE LOVE this place! It's very rare that you would find a cafe/sandwich/crepe place in International District. I stumbled across this one on...well...Yelp! My girl friend and I came here because of me hahaha. We were in the area already and were planning to meet a friend up for dinner later. When we came into the cafe, we were impressed by the ambience and layout. I ordered the Caramel Macchiato and Fruit Custard Crepe. I must say, the crepe was delicious! My friend had the Eastern Crepe (order this, it's pretty good and filling). It has veggies like spinach and mushrooms as well as bacon bits and ham. There's a second floor with small tables and chairs for studying as well as a long table. There's also some when you enter the cafe. A great place to chill, study and have some coffee and food! I highly recommend and will come back again.

Christy O.

Yelp
Cute, spacious cafe with a delicious food menu. My go to's are their matcha lattes and crepes. Would definitely recommend. Eastern Cafe is located in the middle of International District so while there's street parking, during the weekends, parking will be difficult to find. Cons: the internet is very spotty and slow and it's usually quite packed; generally filled with people there to socialize so it gets pretty loud.

H P.

Yelp
Unfortunately I have to do this update. I haven't been by Eastern in a while and decided to stop to get breakfast to go instead of going just to Fuji Bakery or Joe's for their breakfast burrito (which is de-fricken-licious). I ordered a London fog, which tasted really watered down. For food I ordered a sweet and savory crepe. I had to specify that I wanted the crepes made thing, not stuffed like a burrito. They did and it was good but the savory crepe had too much baby spinach in it and it made the rest of the crepe taste soggy because there was so much moisture in the crepe itself. The sweet crepe was the best and was happy that was good! I have to downgrade Eastern unfortunately because the quality of the food was just disappointing and the London Fog also gets a D. But the fruit crepe was dope and they always have good customer service. And I like that this is a minority-owned business. So I hate to give it three stars but was really disappointed with the savory crepe and the London Fog.

Yelp
The buzz here is chirpy but despite the 90 plus degree day, it is a store run by people who don't believe in air conditioning. Yeah the music is nice and service is good but the staff seems to needlessly make slapping banging noises. They have lots of tables and chairs for the room but no power strips under the big table and slightly uncomfortable chairs. This is weird seeing as how Seattle is now a town that has long since been taking over by aerospace (actual) engineers (e.g. Boeing) and now is being occupied by (faux engineers) software developers. All of those people, men, and women need laptops, coffee, and laptops that need power, so why restrict us from electricity after you power us with pretty good coffee? The coffee is quite dark and while not over-roasted... it overpowers the tastebuds like a steamroller when I just need a bicycle. I likely won't be back as I prefer a business that has Ac, medium toast coffee and power outlets for keeping my laptop charged. 030719 update We met here for a gathering of friends, sure enough, one of the software people needed a few more minutes of laptop juice... none to be found.

Yelp
Cute cute cuteeee cafe with great drinks and CREPES! I've walked past Eastern cafe so many times without even realizing what a gem it is. I stopped by for the first time for an after-work meeting and it has such a casual, cozy atmosphere. Nothing but good things to say about the crepes (I love eggs in crepes!), and the drinks are great without being too sweet. The biggest downside is that it was a bit of a struggle to find a table - lots of folks with laptops in it for the long haul, but I've also been here where it's been quieter. They have a couple of big, long tables that can be a communal table or a great spot for a bigger meeting!

Yeh-Eun L.

Yelp
Through my experiences, I'd say this place is more for socializing and less for studying. Came here for both occasions; enjoyed for the former but not the latter. They offer a nice selection of food and drinks, attracting a lot of people to come for the main purpose to eat and talk, so it can get very loud especially during peak hours. Apart from that, food is pretty good and workers are nice. I suggest sitting downstairs for brighter workspace, where there are large windows to draw in all that natural lighting g l o w. If you prefer a more intimate space, upstairs is more promising -- though it can get a little too personal there (witnessed a messy, emotional breakup one Thursday afternoon).

Tyler T.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped by to explore Chinatown and I was in the mood for coffee so went here. I ended up getting a latte and it was just okay, I feel like I have had better elsewhere. The coffee itself wasn't too bad, but the whole drink felt like it was missing something, like the portions weren't poured right or were watered down or something. I'm not sure exactly what was off, but the latte felt lacking.

Joop V.

Yelp
Lovely and beautiful cafe tucked inside Chinatown! This space isn't so typical place in ID where it's loud and at times seems unsanitary. Instead, it's really a nice, totally instagram-able modern and quiet space that you can grab a deink, some food and either work or catch up with friends. I met up with a friend on a weekday evening to catch up and the place wasn't too crowded at all. You can still find some space on the first floor to sit or go up to the second floor to find your own private corner or just sit and people watch from second floor. Really cool and I would like to come back again. I had their iced matcha latter and thought it was ok. It wasn't so memorable given the matcha taste wasnt as strong as what I would have liked. However, I thought the service was decent and the space was perfect for catching up without being too annoyed by loud people around me! P.S. I'd probably try their savory crepe next time I stop by this place! :)

Yelp
4.5 stars. We stopped in for a coffee after visiting the interesting Pinball Museum next door. Lunch and wine/beer available, and the menu was enticing; we'll be back for some food. COFFEE: 4.5 stars, and a good value. 8 oz Americano for $2.50. SERVICE: 4.0 stars. She was friendly and prompt with the Americanos. AMBIANCE: 4.5 stars. One of better interiors we've experienced in the Seattle area. Old, narrow high-ceiling room with plate glass windows across the front. 4-5 two-person tables and a 10 person group table on the ground level. The balcony area has a counter with several seats overlooking the first floor, a group table, and several two-person tables. There is also outdoor seating on the sidewalk in front. We were there on a Monday afternoon, and all of the two-person tables on the first level were occupied by solitary women working on PCs; meanwhile, 4 of these tables on the second level were occupied by solitary men working on PCs or reading. Quiet. It was nice and cool compared to the heat outdoors. Would like to test how warm it is on a rainy day.

Latifa S.

Yelp
Crepe crepe crepe! Crepe in this place!!! Love: décor! It is as rustic and cute as it get. Call it hipster, call it anything. I'm all about the high ceilings, exposed brick walls and shared long wooden communal tables. They have smaller tables and upstairs too! The good: coffee, tea! Wine!!! Food: crepes! Oh the crepes!!! You want savory? You want sweet? You want it smothered in cinnamon and powder sugar? Pretty colorful fruits? All soo good!! I wish I can just eat their crepe by itself. The batter was nice and thin: tasty!! Almost impossible to hold all the stuffing that come with it, it did!! Overall, cute spot! Could use some ventilation at times. Love the smell of the crepes and coffee! Maybe some air would do good sometimes. Overall, super cute!! Too cute! And all of this right smack in China town!! Who would've thought!

Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Yes! Another coffee shop in Seattle. (not kidding, we need more) I really like this place. It wasn't crazy busy. The inside was cool and enviting, and coffee is good. What more do you want. I ordered the soy mocha and it was good. Sweet and not bitter. I personally haven't tried the crepes but from the looks of it. It looks delish. I do understand several of. The other reviews regarding the service. Although my interactions was not rude, I can see how they would rub off in the wrong way. The best thing about the place is the space. It has great open windows and light, cool wood tables and great art on the wall...and yet it feels comfy. After the hussle and bussle of international district, walking in here was like walking into a hip coffee shop in Ballard. Lol. I'd for sure come back, maybe not for the friendly service, but def the environment.

Jacob A.

Yelp
Best cafe to hang out in the ID. Chill baristas and a laidback atmosphere that feels way too cool without being pretentious. This spot meets my #1 gold standard for a cafe: spacious ceilings! You haven't been productive until you've worked in a place with ceilings at least 20 feet above your head. Coffee is decent enough to satisfy most everyone. Try the matcha if you want a sweet treat, it's killer.

Clara P.

Yelp
This rating is just for the happy hour, which is fantastic. The tap list doesn't change up too much, but that price can't be beat. We love coming here on weekend afternoons for a beer. The space is nice and relaxing with the high ceilings, and it's just a great place to chill. Update: the happy hour price is now $4 for draft beer, which is a small increase but still a pretty good price. I do maintain my request for a little for variety in the tap list though!

Jeff T.

Yelp
Had a meeting with some prospects here and craving some Vietnamese Coffee. I was very disappointed with the coffee. It's very watery and didn't have that strong taste. However, the environment was nice. There are two levels for seatings. The upstairs was very nice.

Cindy N.

Yelp
The initial plan was a quick breakfast. I got it! Downfall: The service. We stood in front of the counter awkwardly for at least 5 minutes before the guy there even said a word. And when he did open up his mouth he didn't really listen carefully to anything we said. We repeated what we wanted over and over. And, my pet peeve, he didn't even say thank you at the end. I ordered the nutella crepe which was delicious. I love the almonds on top. And, the best part, they didn't hold back on the nutella. This is usually the case when I order this dish at other joints. The view from the second floor is my favorite. It's also not crazy loud in here, at least during the morning time, so you're more than able to study here. I just wish it was open later at night so I could swing by then!

Sloan N.

Yelp
I frequented Eastern several times a week for about half a year until all the staff and manager were gone in Spring '19. So did the irreverent music that accompanied their friendly service and frequent buyer program. I've since returned with less frequency to find different staff each time. What's up with the turnover? The service?

Richard U.

Yelp
Nice place to relax in the ID! Eastern Café is a rare find in notoriously coffee free zone of the international district which is dominated by bubble tea places. The space is really nice with high ceilings and exposed pipes and rough walls giving it an unfinished, slightly industrial feel. There is an upper loft seating area and there is a decent number of power outlets available for the lap top warriors looking to get some work done. Wifi is free and by estimation pretty fast. They sport a decent menu of crepes, sandwiches, gelato and also serve Miro tea products along with coffee items. I wish they had later hours but they are only open from 8am to 8pm. check them out!

Jen B.

Yelp
Eastern Cafe is located two doors down from the entrance of the Eastern Hotel. It's a two-floor space with ample seating: single tables and larger tables for groups. The cafe offers espresso-based beverages, tea, beer and wine, gelato, and an assortment of sandwiches. The drinks and food are reasonably priced, and I was surprised to get an 8oz latte for $3. With both espresso and gelato, a gelato-based affogato is a likely combination-a rare find in many coffee shops. The latte I ordered reminded me of a cappuccino with its thick foam, but the latte-cappuccino provided the caffeine fix I needed. Overall, service is prompt and seating is ample. The cafe is kept clean and people come here to work but also to gather. I recommend this cafe if you're in the area.

Joe H.

Yelp
As others have mentioned, this place seems a bit out of place in the mist of all these Chinese / Asian restaurants but that's why it's so cool. They offer sandwiches, crepes (both savory and sweet), wine, beer, and coffee/espresso. I ordered Ham and Cheese crepes and espresso. Crepes was quite large, but I easily finished it. Espresso was very very good. I wonder what kind of coffee they use. Super cool space, friendly service, pretty good food, great coffee. Credit cards are accepted. I think they also accept Amex, but not 100% sure.

Michelle C.

Yelp
What a great find! I love how this café is nestled away in the middle of Chinatown - totally unexpected :) I apologize for being that person who sits at the large table by herself, but I couldn't resist! Nice high ceilings, a ton of natural lighting and overall chill vibe, Eastern Café is definitely someplace I'll be visiting again. I went with a short latte this time around and will be back for the infamous latte art (which I didn't get to see this time, boo hoo..) While the WiFi is free, it is pretty slow - I actually had a staff member stop by my table and ask me if it was working okay haha. I plan to bring non-work the next time I visit, and maybe even go for a glass of wine or beer! :D

Yelp
An American hipster hideout hidden in the middle of International District. Lots of great locations inside to study or chat. The tea I got was an authentic Chinese tea, but I made the mistake of leaving the leaves in the mug for too long! Pro tip: Definitely stop by but m ake sure to remove the leaves early and then seep to taste!

Yelp
A great venue, somewhat hidden within the plethora of Chinatown shops, restaurants, etc. A bit run down, but still extremely clean and definitely a stylish vibe. Love the loft upstairs as well. I find the coffee and drink menu - as well as the various baked goods they tend to offer - somewhat mediocre. But here, it's not about that. Much more about the space, the vibe, and at times, the customers.

Yelp
I'm kind of in love with this place and it has nothing to do with their coffee, crepes or gelato, which I should be trying. I just love this little independent coffee house in the middle of Chinatown. Surrounded by tea shops and Chinese restaurants I think it's a cute little gem. I stopped by one day after I found it on Yelp. I work nearby-ish. I ordered a cappucino - the first time I've had one in my life, so I can't really say if it was good or bad, but I don't like coffee in general, so... Next time I come, I'm going to order some gelato maybe. Or wine (after work, of course). The workers were really friendly, starting a conversation while I waited for someone to make my cappucino. I LOVE the decor, I mean, there isn't much to it which is what I love. I sat upstairs and love the high ceilings, huge windows, the lighting, everything. Half of the cafe is painted and the other half was left bare or unfinished. I'm guessing it was intentional and I think it's cool. The seating wasn't too comfy (not butt = needs seat cushions) so I couldn't sit forever, but there are a lot of tables upstairs and a great big table downstairs. New fave spot in the ID.

Yelp
What a neat little find! A "western-ized" cute coffee shop tucked right in the middle of "chinatown". Has a very modernized atmosphere, that you completely forget that you are in the International District. Quite roomy for a small coffee area, with ample of seats for small groups. A good selections of sweet & savory crepes, coffes & lattes, and gelatos! Complete with classic & new to try flavors (like rice). Mmm. Had their banana and strawberry crepe. Very generous in size for $6.50 :) Light and fluffy crepe, with fresh fruits. Hard to mess up. Service was top notch. Quick and attentive. They also threw in some extra fresh berries just because :) Would recommend to others, and would definitely come back. What a gem in the area :D

Yelp
Eastern Cafe serves coffee in a quirky atmosphere in the ID area. They do have outlets for laptops which makes this a place where you can work or do homework away from the office or school. The cafe seems to feature a different artist on a monthly basis. The art on the walls are for sale. Service is alright - it depends on the day. Sometimes the staff are present and look you in the eye when taking your order and then there are other times when it seems like they are barely listening and distracted. They offer some good breakfast options (crepes - yum) as well as muffins and croissants. The breakfast has been hit and miss for me. Sometimes the crepes taste overcooked other times they are perfect. For snacks, they have fresh fruit, and small bags of chips, power bars and doughnuts. The biggest drawback to this area is that parking is not only hard to find but it's also two hour parking that you are not allowed to extend. That means in two hours you have to move your car to a different street, pay again and walk back with your stuff. I've been miffed by that a couple times because I've literally drove around the area for more than a half hour looking for street parking that isn't a mile away. The other downside is that this area is super dodgy when it gets dark. Panhandlers can be very aggressive. I've had a lady attempt to reach into my purse to grab my wallet. There is also a guy who will run up to me and others and get uncomfortably close; and then ask for money for food. I find intentional invasion of personal space by a stranger unnerving in the dark. I usually give ~ but not when folks get aggressive. When I offer food from the cafe he says no and walks away. One upside is the happy hour is inexpensive and very generous. They usually offer two red wines, and two white options and then maybe five beers/cider. I usually drink wine and it's $4-5 per glass and probably a five ounce pour. If you are in the neighborhood during the day and want a good cup of coffee and a place to hang out for a bit, check it out.

Yelp
Eastern Cafe is a perfect example of how lack-luster service can taint an otherwise great experience. My colleague and I met here for a co-working date since neither of us had been here before. I saw their Yelp listing and we really impressed the rating and look of the place. When I walked in I'll admit that I didn't think the images on Yelp (at least the ones that were populated when I looked) matched the look of the actual space. I liked the look and all! It was just different from what I was expecting. I found my co-worker and set my stuff down. First things first, I needed caffeine. So I walked up to the counter and waited. I waited a little more and noticed there was a girl there with her back to me making a sandwich. I didn't want to be rude and interrupt her (I figured she'd help me when she was ready), so I just patiently waited for her to notice me. It's what she did when she noticed me that kind of threw me off. She made eye contact with me and just walked around flustered between the front and the back for a while. She'd make eye contact with me a few more times, but then would walk away. She made eye contact with me one last time and FINALLY communicated with me to tell me that it would be just a few more minutes before she could help me--not in a nice way, but in a flustered, almost annoyed way. It seemed like she might have been alone, so I didn't take it too hard. LOL. But when she finally was able to help me with my order, she just was not friendly. She seemed genuinely annoyed and I felt uncomfortable. I asked for a chai latte and then asked what kind of milk they had. She snapped back with a quick answer. I placed my order, gave her my card, she swiped it and then *flung* the screen around without handing me my card back--just sticking it diagonally in the card reader for me to hopefully see and grab myself--and walked away without a word. Lastly, there were three drinks on the counter when she called my order out. So when I walked up, I asked her if the drink I was grabbed was the chai latte with almond milk and she looked at me like I was the biggest asshole for asking. Then she snapped back with attitude that it was the chai. Yikes. Besides having any contact with the girl who worked here, this place was great. I liked the atmosphere. My co-worker's sandwich looked fresh enough, and there were plenty of outlets. But the service can really kill the whole vibe and that's what kind of happened here.

Yelp
I had the maple oat cappuccino and it is soooo delicious! Just the right balance of coffee flavor and sweetness. And the people are very friendly! Hit the spot!

Yelp
A pretty good place to study around international district given that there's that many choices for the little cafe places. I order Chai latte and not rly like that, but the foods r okay. Overall, the upstate seatings r my favorite.

Yelp
we love the veggie crepes here! So yummy. I believe the owner is the brother of the owner of Miro Tea in Ballard so that's the tea they serve which is good to know when I want a great cup of tea. They serve Lighthouse Coffee which is a great roast. Usually they can be a little slow cause they cook the crepes to order but today they were done fast. Love the feel of the place, high ceilings with walls with lots of character they usually feature a local artist art. I always tell people it's a great place to study or read a book. Don't want coffee or tea? They serve beer and wine as well

Yelp
Was looking for a cute place to get breakfast w some friends and this place fit perfectly! Had a solid menu, everything was reasonably priced especially for the sizes (the crepes were huge!) Service was great and the cafe itself had lots of options for seating, upstairs and downstairs. Cute café to get some work done or socialize with others.

Yelp
A quiet and charming place to socialize with friends, or actually study and read to your hearts content. This place is tucked into the international district, and it doesn't dissapoint. I'm visiting from Las Vegas, and decided to come here for some breakfast before heading back home. Delicious crepes! Definitely satisfied my morning hangriness.
