Health Inspection Closes Decades-Old Japanese Restaurant Dojo | Eater NY

"Montauk-based publication and lifestyle brand Whalebone Magazine opened a pop-up bar called The Boneyard in collaboration with Seagram’s 7 at 25 Avenue B; it’s paradoxically meant to be an ode to dive bars, a premise that doesn’t really seem to understand the lasting appeal or definition of a dive bar. It will stay open through October 6, and there will be special events throughout its run, including karaoke tomorrow night." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

Wow! This might be the best burger I’ve ever had- was not expecting that as the place doesn’t look like much from the outside but omg! Do yourself a favor & get a burger here- you won’t regret it! 5 stars easy ☀️

Google
Pretty generic bar. Unenthusiastic service. But good drinks.

Google
David the bartender was fantastic - great cocktail knowledge and perfect Old Fashioned. Emily provided outstanding table service - attentive, friendly, and knew the menu perfectly. Great atmosphere, seamless staff, and exactly what you want in a neighborhood bar. Highly recommend and will definitely return!

Had such a great time! Amazing outdoor/indoor space and perfectly curated playlist inside. Emily, our waitress, is lovely! So professional and quick to respond. Enjoyed the night thoroughly!! Come to Eastpoint for a good time 🥳

Google
Positive reviews about staff have to be self written. It’s your average frat bro / sorority girl sports bar which is fine but my goodness get some new staff that can handle rushes and treat their patrons like people.

Google
East Point Bar is a hidden gem in the Lower East Side! From the moment you step in, you can feel the inviting vibe—chill but still buzzing with energy. The bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and always down for a great conversation. Shout out to Emily our waitress for the night for taking care of the group!

Google
Had a great time here. Great place for viewing sports events. They had TV for hockey and basketball playoffs 50/50 at the same time and when the hockey game was over, all the TV switched over to the basketball game. Plus they had music running when it was commercial breaks. This place has the best "bar food" I've ever been to. Quality ingredients and nice plating. $45 for a bottle of prosecco that had waitresses come out with sparklers was definitely fun and worth it if you're into that kind of thing. The 2 hot blonde waitresses were extremely friendly and professional and kept coming to our table to clean up our mess and to check up on us many times even for a busy dinner service. We didn't even have to flag them down a single time. A++ in service. I definitely recommend this place and will come back here again.

Fast and good food options! Love the burger and the cheesesteak option!

Yelp
So - Tuesday is taco Tuesday. I was to meet a buddy there. I lasted about 25 minutes. I sat at the bar only to be greeted by a stare... No hi, how are you? What can I get you? NADA, ZIP. I was invisible. Weird.... Does she talk? To her customers? I used to wait tables.. Acknowledgement of a customer is BASIC. I asked for a menu...I am given a QRC code. Didn't work on my phone. No thanks. That's so LOCKDOWN. I asked for a manager. The bartender lazily pointed to one. I told him I can't access the menu - he pulled up his phone... We don't have menus, he said. I want to linger over a menu.. Look at the menu again, maybe order more stuff. Instead I was denied basic restaurant service. I'm old, I can't read tiny fonts, especially on a phone. Where is the MENU? I sat at the bar for 25 mins. Silent bartender never asked if I wanted to order. She knew I looked at a menu on a phone! It's fucking humiliating. Am I supposed to interrupt her texting? I called my friend and told him I was leaving. He's a regular. I was starving. He apologized. I went across the street and got a nice greeting and a slice from Max. No attitude - available menu and great service. No that's how you operate a business. No more tacos for me, at least not at Eastpoint.

Yelp
We started coming here in February 2024 when we were looking for a bar that played Bravo shows (specifically Vanderpump) and found this spot! VPR is typically on Tuesdays when they have $3 taco Tuesdays and $3 tecates. We also loved seeing one of the bar tenders little dogs run around and learned their a dog-friendly establishment - inside and out! When it started to get warm they opened their outdoor seating, only for us to learn they have covered outdoor TVs in their outdoor street-parking booths! We love that they always have sports on and finals (we're here for Copa America games now) and their 1/2 off all drinks for Happy Hour til 7 on weekdays is great. Today their frozen margs are $5 instead of the typical $14, a deal that can't be beat for frozens in New York. Ambience and deals aside, the food, drinks and service are always great. This place is super reliable. Highly recommend for Happy Hour or sports. Haven't had their food outside of their tacos (or that time their chef made a random cake!) but I have pretty good expectations at this point.

Yelp
Eastpoint was a great place for drinks and ordering appetizers. My friend and I ordered the Frozen Strawberry and Mango Margaritas which were delicious. We also ordered the Seasoned French Fries with Aioli dipping sauce. The French Fries were fresh, flavorful, and the dipping sauce brought the French Fries to the next level. The staff were very friendly and kept checking in on are table to make sure everything was okay. The staff we're very pleasant and also recommend items we should order of the menu. Eastpoint is definitely a place I would come back to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Where do I begin? This establishment deserves more recognition than I could ever provide from a mere yelp review, however, I'll do my best. The vibes in the air were special from the moment we walked in. Music was out of this world, it was like the DJ knew the inner workings of my brain, more so than I knew myself. The service was knock-your-socks-off good. I never had to wait to order a new drink because we were being checked in on so often. All 6 tequila shots were handled with delicate care. The floor was cleared later in the evening for more dancing space and all parties took advantage of this, embarking on a night they'd never forget. I for one will certainly never forget this place and I'll fight every day to make sure everyone knows it exists.

Yelp
I decided to have my birthday party with 30 of my closest friends at Eastpoint and it could not have been better! Our amazing waitress Hailey H made sure ordering drinks was easy and the tables I had reserved in the back were all set up when I got there! They made serving cake easy and played amazing music the entire night. I could not recommend more! Thank you for helping me celebrate a great birthday!

Yelp
Sat outside to watch the Knicks game. The bar was packed inside and outside. Service was good but the espresso martini I ordered was actually the worst one I've ever had. Did not taste like espresso at all. Was so watered down and in the tiniest cup for $18. My husband's Paloma was terrible too. Stick to beer and wine here.

Yelp
Absolutely love Eastpoint! Definitely ask for Maeve, MJ, Katie or Carly as your waitress -- they are the absolute best!! The food and drinks are always great. The service is fast and the girls are so sweet. Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday and although the service was attentive and friendly, that was really all I felt this place had going for it. That being said, all we came for were the drinks. Had a few games on projectors/TVs which was nice for those that wanted to keep up, but this place is far from the vibe of a sports bar. Drinks were typical as you'd find anywhere, you can do worse, but you can definitely do better too.
google avatar

Tamara A.

Yelp
great bites and deals for happy hour!! we got the guac to share and it was really fresh and delicious. they have towers of drinks as well as pitchers so this is the perfect place for group outings. the service was fast and helpful :)

Yelp
Amazing sports bar, or spot to go dancing. There are two levels, so it's a great place to go with friends on the upper level for catching up, then heading downstairs when you want to dance. I've come here many times for football games/the Super Bowl and they have had (complimentary) Jell-O shots, being served, confetti and other fun party surprises. Such a FUN spot!

Liza W.

Yelp
These nachos were sooooooo good a little watery at the bottom but alll dressed up so delicious flavors the outside seating is such a good vibe too

Taylor B.

Yelp
I've been going for the last 3 years and have not had better service. Morgan knows what she's doing. See yall Sunday

Yelp
Had some alone time while on a trip, and decided to try some bars on a whim. I was immediately drawn by the logo; really good typography. I walked in and was immediately seated, so wait wasn't an issue at all. Vibes were great, not too crowded, even in the middle of Trivia Night. It was not overly loud, and I was still able to hear myself think. I tried the Cauliflower Tacos, and I was impressed with how good it was; portions were generous and satisfying. Pricing for both drinks and food is very standard. Not overly expensive or cheap. I was served by a bartender named Rebecca. I asked if she can make whiskey sours but they didn't have egg whites; I asked her to surprise me with a whiskey based drink. She made me a cocktail with peach whiskey, mint and something else; it was very similar to a Green Tea Shot but it was very refreshing. She then had me try a tequila cocktail with jalapenos; it was way spicier than I expected but I was able to enjoy it thoroughly. Rebecca was very welcoming and her service was spectacular and I had a pleasant experience here. Highly recommend for a bar!

Yelp
I've been here on several occasions and normally have a great time. The music is typically the highlight. Last night however, my group of friends and I arrived and they forced us to check out jackets for $3 at coat check. My 'jacket' (aka a thin blazer) was a part of my outfit, which I explained to the lady running jacket security by the door (no other way to explain the purpose of her job). I was wearing a very thin shirt underneath and didn't feel comfortable walking around like that - she said if I didn't want to check it then I can leave. We ended up checking them and walk in to see other people in actual winter coats. We left. This is no way to treat customers.

Yelp
Eastpoint is good for what it is. This is a bar meant for lively gatherings, cheap tacos, and cheap booze. If you're expecting authentic tacos, you will be disappointed. I came here for their taco Tuesday special ($2 beef, shredded chicken, and veggie tacos) and it also happened to be national margarita day ($5 margs). I got a beef and shredded chicken taco. The beef is NOT carne asada. It was ground beef, like the type of beef you'll find in a Taco Bell taco. It lacked seasoning as well, but that was remedied with some Tabasco. The shredded chicken taco was seasoned much better, and I was surprised how yummy it was after experiencing the less-than beef taco. If you're looking for cheap tacos and drinks, this is your spot. You have to know that it's not going to be taqueria-grade, though. Not sure if I would come back, but I'm glad to have gotten $2 tacos for the night. Also, if you check in on Yelp, you get a free house shot!

Yelp
We went to Eastpoint to grab a bite to eat. It was fantastic! We discovered something new and loved it. I mean how often do you go out to eat and come across a tasty new mode of food transport. It was a burrito in a cup. I know it sounds odd but it wasn't. It was like a burrito that didn't leak! Which is pretty much something I never thought I'd see. I asked the server what it was and she told us it's called a StuffMe. The name made a lot of sense cause you can put anything edible in it and go to town. The food was great, the vibe was great, the drinks were great and discovering the new improved burrito was just super cool. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Vibe and set up are great, stuffme taco cups are a must try! Solid for games, lots of TVs.

Yelp
*Upon checking in through yelp, you get a free shot! (February 2022)* We came here for taco tuesday + national margarita day. Upon coming in, we were offered their last standing table near the front. It was a busy night, and so it understandably took us a bit to get our order in, and food out. Definitely a higher energy place, decor was nice, would be a fun place to go with friends, especially for friends into sports! We got our shots, a blueberry margarita (which was okay -- mango or strawberry would probably mesh better with the ingredients), and a bunch of the $2 tacos! Note that Taco Tuesday deals are not applied to all tacos -- only ground beef, shredded chicken, and veggie taco. Unfortunately, while I don't have regrets as the tacos were only $2, they were quite disappointing. The chicken was definitely better than the beef, as the beef had virtually no seasoning. I would never purchase either at their regular price of $12 for two tacos, but if I happened to be in the area, hungry, on a Tuesday, I wouldn't pass up the chicken tacos for the price!

Jackie H.

Yelp
The best queso in NYC. Their Tuesday deal is amazing $2 tacos and $2 beers. I highly recommend!!! They also have margarita towers which is fun as a group

Yelp
Originally came here for drinks with some friends around 730pm on Wednesday but our waitress let us know they had bingo going on at 8pm in the basement so we headed inside to play. Inside there were these large, cute round booths that could easily fit 6 people. We ordered some food and drinks and played some bingo. There were only 7 people playing so we won 3 of the 4 bingo games and won 3 $25 Eastpoint gift cards for future use. The bingo was also "Mixtape Bingo" so instead of numbers and letters, it was songs with each round of bingo being a different theme (TV show theme songs 2000s hits, etc.) -- super fun! The food was also great. We got the white queso and chicken tenders with fries. The queso was spectacular ... not sure what they added but it was very flavorful and the star of the night. They gave so many chicken tenders which were so crispy and came with this delicious honey mustard to dip them in. Overall, a great time and great food. Definitely recommend! You may win some gift cards!

Sarah B.

Yelp
Put my jacket down for 2 minutes, bouncer threw it at my face then proceeded to get 1 inch away from my face to yell at me. Is this acceptable behavior at this place? Left immediately. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Danielle S.

Yelp
The bouncer will tell you that you aren't allowed to dance and ruin you're night by not letting you have fun
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
Rebecca was the most attentive and great! Bingo night was an absolute blast! Carley and Morgan were also superb. Will be back next week!
google avatar

Daniela B.

Yelp
I went for a Tribute Society event on a Friday night and it was such a nice time. The event was held in the basement and it was so nicely decorated. The vibes were great and the event was so nicely put together. I had a series of margaritas and they were all the right amount of strong and savory! The bouncer told us the first floor was a good time as well, I will make sure to come back to check it out
google avatar

Annie M.

Yelp
Love East Point!! Great vibes, music, and service. Music trivia on Wednesdays is always a good time. On top of that, the food is to dieee for.
google avatar

Jenn L.

Yelp
LOVE EASTPOINT! Such a great bar to watch sports game and they also have a really cool bar downstairs called downtime which is more of a nightclub/lounge vibe! Amazing outdoor seating and great bar food too! Not your typical bar food and great quality. They have happy hour on Fridays from 4-7pm! Great vibes, definitely check this bar out!

Cristian V.

Yelp
The cans were properly laid out and the organization behind the bar left me in ahhh. Best bar in the city.Rebecca with a k was incredible!!

Justin K.

Yelp
The place had great vibes and the little taco hoops - the Buffalo chicken and cheeseburger ones were amazing! I never write reviews but place was worth it!
google avatar

Isabel S.

Yelp
1st: Smelled like garbage 2nd: Asked to put the Prime Time game (the only game on) and the hostess was so rude and asked ME to google the channel when it's the same channel inside. Staff is rude and confused, definitely expected more from a sports bar. Also, food choices are not it... they don't even have BBQ wings.
google avatar

Will C.

Yelp
Eastpoint has been a destination bar several times after the pandemic. Its outdoor seating is a great place for people and dog watching. Our friends cancelled early and our remaining group was destined for the wings available at Eastpoint on this community day. I started the meal with the Charlie Parker (a mojito made from whiskey, lemonade and ginger beer), V had the House Margarita with strawberry. Food started with queso which was thick and fun to dip tortilla chips into. It needed either chorizo or more vegetables. We got an order of the Buffalo Jumbo Wings, which I honestly wish were BBQ flavored instead. When the option was not given to us, I feigned disappointment to our waitress mockingbird. She did her best, but that option would have taken the experience to the next level. Two fish tacos were amazing, I highly recommend those. Also, the Tajin fries were a surprising hit. I will probably pick up some Tajin from Amazon to spice up a few of my dishes moving forward. A French bulldog from the table next door provided the most entertainment and many pedestrians would stop to say hello to the tiny adorable pup.

Rachael R.

Yelp
We came here on a Thursday night with some friends for drinks and tacos. The staff knew n o t h i n g! We asked about happy hour and some of the food items and she had to check every time so it seems like most of the staff is new but still, brief them on the basics at least. All of the happy hour deals on the chalkboard were from before covid so none of them applied anymore (change the board then). On the up side, the spicy skinny margs were pretty good and some others in our group had the Paloma and liked it. The tacos were good too, although they were served on plastic plates and we didn't have any napkins or silverware. Also highly recommend the cheesy garlic bread. To recap, great food and drink but presentation and staff can be improved.
google avatar

Journey M.

Yelp
this place is SO fun! from what I remember at least. we wound up here on a night during halloweekend. I just remember dancing and drinking and dancing and drinking. apparently it's a sports bar? we love an establishment that can do it all. would recommend.
google avatar

Lindsay K.

Yelp
I've been coming here since it was Avenida. Great food. My one complaint is that the music is always so loud since they rebranded to East point. Big fan of this neighborhood spot!
google avatar

Helen G.

Yelp
Eastpoint excellently handled accommodating our large group for a wonderful Saturday brunch! I made a reservation about 6 weeks in advance through their website which was very easy and I had confirmation from them within a day or so. I spent years living in NYC before moving away in 2019 and this was such a great place to get a big group back together! They kept the drinks flowing, the food was delicious, and they were incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout our hours there! I had the best time getting to see so many of my closest friends for a weekend back in NYC. A huge thank you to Eastpoint for being a part of that, and for giving me, a "brunch aficionado," a few hours of reminiscing over a memorable, 'New York City style' bottomless brunch!
google avatar

Richard C.

Yelp
Highlights: - has so much potential - the bartender team looks hungry to make a cool experience - the bouncers are on top of their stuff Downside: - attracts low vibrational people - little amount of people on a weekend - no prefixed cocktail menu - music is horrible (too 40s) Recommendations: - add a prefixed cocktail menu - add some garnishments to be worth the $12-18 - have a deep house/disco house/ or someone good to DJ. I guarantee you'll get a great crowd beyond the folks that eat your restaurant upstairs.

Kate B.

Yelp
This place was electric. Yessica was incredible. I live here now. will be back for sure!!!

Marissa G.

Yelp
Went to Trivia and was served by Yessica - best time! definitely recommend for a night out with coworkers or friends!

Annie M.

Yelp
Love the Bingo night on Wednesday! Such a good deal, best place in the east village!!!!

Ryan G.

Yelp
Taegan & carly did an amazing job hosting my party of 10 at Mixtape Bingo. They consistently were coming over to ensure our buckets of beer and glasses of wine were filled. 10/10 service. And the chicken tendies were amazing.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
Awesome bar I've obviously heard a ton about but somehow never went there once until last night. Drinks were great, awesome spot to watch a game, and a great crowd. Look forward to coming back soon
google avatar

Tyler S.

Yelp
I rarely make it to the east side because most places I've sought out end up being a disappointment (the food, the spot, or the scene can never all come together in EV for some reason). The new Eastpoint is a huge exception to that now - friendly and attentive staff, food is great and well executed, crowd is always on point and the space looks good with a fresh coat of paint on it. I've a few post-work drinks during the week and found myself there on the weekends for an afternoon bite. Will be back again probably... tomorrow. If you haven't had the fried chicken tacos yet go get them now.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
I live down the block and I'm so happy Eastpoint is now here. Look at the healthy salad I had for brunch (other than the Chorizo I added haha) I also just noticed that they have a bunch of food and drink specials each night - boom I had a cocktail called Charlie Parker and it was tasty. Rachael is also super cool

Anthony T.

Yelp
Awesome food and had so much fun at music bingo! Yessica took care of us - she was awesome!

Crys -.

Yelp
Best shredded chicken tacos. The food is delivered quickly and the staff is so sweet!!!
google avatar

George B.

Yelp
Great atmosphere but the service was awful. There was one bartender that was in the basement that was extremely rude
google avatar

A C.

Yelp
If you are a minority, do not bother wasting your time here. You will not get any service at all. None at all. There is no host. Of course they will hire us to meet their quota of minorities, one or two of us but will they ask you if you'd like a seat or order anything? No. Everything is also "reserved." Quote on quote. We asked someone where to order by the bar, they pointed us to the server. Server wouldn't take our order without a table. Then got directed to the bar which was almost impossible to order at since we asked the person right next to the bar and they pointed us to the server. At this point, I felt very unwelcome and it was time to go somewhere else that has HOSPITALITY. It is so weird, a food and beverage spot is considered hospitality yet there was none at all. East point was not welcoming and did not have any kind of acknowledgment we were even there. The only approach was "just so you know this is reserved and once more of their party comes you'll have to move," no effort to direct us somewhere else. I write this review so everyone knows the expectations of experience when you arrive here. I know there are other bars in this are and there is a reason I have never entered here. Once I did, instant regret.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
I arrived on a cold February looking to have a few pre brunch drinks before heading to my second destination. The staff here is so kind! I sat at the bar and had great convo. Do yourself a favor, queso lovers be sure to try it! It's legit southern bad for you white runny queso! That's hard to find in nyc! So good! The drinks are well made too, the Prosecco to mimosa ratio is perfection, just a hint of OJ just like I like it ;)

Rebecca B.

Yelp
Came here on a Saturday night with some friends and had an amazing time! The atmosphere was so fun and the music was great. Will definitely recommend to everyone and be back soon!

NIck S.

Yelp
Good fish tacos and an easy going vibe. Just a heads up, there is an awkward round table and booth section in the back that we were seated at, that part wasn't the best idea!
