16 Best Places for Live Music in Nashville | Condé Nast Traveler

"The Wash at Eastside Bowl is housed in a renovated Kmart store, completely renovated with a decidedly retro vibe. That means it has room for almost everyone in its music venue/bowling alley/bar/restaurant/arcade—and in a laid-back, but also high-energy spot. The 750-person capacity venue has a private balcony area for high rollers, but the essence of The Wash is a music-brings-everyone together ethos. It particularly shines during industry events like AmericanaFest. Peep the décor details, like the bowling-pin patterned wallpaper and 1960-style light fixtures. It's a standing-room only venue, so you come to dance and get as close to the stage as possible, not to sit. Some artists may ask that temporary seating be brought in, but for the most part you’ll be standing in a crowd." - Kristin Luna,Margaret Littman

Google
First time going to attend a concert. Staff, venue, food was all great! It's an hour and a half drive for us so a little far just to bowl, but we're definitely keeping an eye on concerts there from now on. The shepherds pie was terrific!

Patricia Morgan

Google
Great little place for metal shows and secure. The staff wasn't rude to concert people trying to have fun. Bands were awesome and easy to talk to. Overall a very good place to let your down and have some fun. We didn't try the bowling alley, but it looked very fun. Our 2nd time and most definitely will make the trip again.

Google
I've only ever gone for the shows at the venue they have in the back but I always have a good time there. The shows are always great, nice and intimate settings but still can handle a crowd. The bartenders are all very sweet. The retro vibes are on point. And they have the best chicken tenders I've ever had!

Google
Incredible Time at Eastside Bowl! I had an absolute blast at Eastside Bowl! From the moment I walked in, the vibe was fantastic. The retro decor mixed with a modern twist gives the place a unique, fun atmosphere that’s perfect for a night out with friends. The bowling lanes are well-maintained, and they even have great music playing to keep the energy high. What really makes Eastside Bowl stand out is the live music on three stages! The variety of performances adds so much to the experience, whether you’re a fan of intimate sets or bigger shows. It’s a dream spot for music lovers who want to enjoy live performances while having a great time. The food is another highlight—seriously amazing! The chicken fingers are crispy and flavorful, and the pot pies are hands down some of the best I’ve had. On top of that, they’ve got cozy booths that make for a super comfortable hangout spot. Practical things are covered, too—there’s plentiful parking and the bathrooms are super clean. Combine that with friendly, attentive staff, and you’ve got an unbeatable experience. Whether you’re there to bowl, catch live music, or just relax and grab a drink, Eastside Bowl has something for everyone. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, memorable time!

Google
I recently hosted a celebration of life for my daughter here. I give these guys a 5 star plus rating for the outstanding service we received. They reserved my selected lanes and had assigned servers for food and drinks. I could not have asked for better service. This would be a great place for birthday parties or any event where multiple people can meet up and have fun. The bowling alley is state of the art and parking is FREE!

Google
Retro-movie theater/Diner looking Bowling 🎳alley that’s much more than just a place to bowl. They have a live music being performed there regularly and a beautiful retro bar for your food/drinks needs. I was pleasantly surprised with this place. They have a ton of parking there at the lot. There were almost 50-60 people who left at the same time when we were leaving so it jammed the exit but I’m guessing it could be bowling league members exiting after the league. Staff was friendly. Overall, great place, would definitely go there again!

Google
To get started with the Good: this bowling alley rocks the retro look from front to back, it's clean, well kept, and the staff are all top notch! The food was quite nice, but considering that it's bowling alley food...I'm giving it five stars. It's not the cold nachos and candy you grew up getting while you were at your local lanes. They have a full service bar with lots and lots of drafts, cans/bottles, and liquor as well! The bad: We were there for a birthday gathering and it was practically impossible to contact someone ahead of time for an event setup, I was finally able to get a response via email and thought we had locked in the event but when we arrived (on a Friday night) we found that the person I was communicating with via email did not inform the crew working that we were coming in. THANKFULLY they had a couple of lanes open to put our group at and everything worked out fine but had our arrival been 7pm rather than 6pm (once the crowd came in) I don't think we would have been so lucky with getting lanes. All in all, despite that snafu, we had an excellent time and we will certainly be back in the future!

Google
Great music venue in the Nashville area. I didn't have any food. Therefore, no stars in that category until I try some. Service was friendly & fast. The only problem I had was, after a 3 hour drive, the doors weren't open on time & a bathroom was a top priority on arrival. Luckily, we held out & no pants were harmed. 🤣🤣🤣 Atmosphere was very nice, safe feeling & welcoming. Acoustics were spot on also. I would recommend seeing a show from your favorite artists whenever they book a show here.

Yelp
Bowling is great here. They have Hyper Bowling which adds a fun twist to the classic game and makes it a little more competitive. The food is great, I love their tots. When you're bowling the servers will come check on you regularly for drink and food orders. Great place for a date or double date. The music venue is also superb. The restrooms are big and clean which is a plus when you're an avid show-goer.

Yelp
Super fun, rad honkytonk shows at the Eastside Bowl! I was lucky to catch the Cowpokes on my last night in Nashville. I much prefer the local vibes here vs. the rowdiness of downtown. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Ass clown place. Low class shows. Much better places to hear shows . Weak drinks. High prices

Yelp
Haven't been bowling much so not sure if this review is useful but for me this place was great mainly for the atmosphere and decor. The bar and the country music were wonderful additions. The bowling alleys seats were a little close to each other and the resetting seemed slow, but I loved the fun vibe, like the graphics on the screen. Also, the music playlist was superb. had a great time here.

Alex M.

Yelp
Had about $200 worth of items stolen and the majority of the staff just looked at me and acted and even said it was just my own fault. One guy at least acted like he wanted to help but just wasn't able to. But I guess it was my fault for going to apparently an unsafe place where the majority of the staff doesn't care about you. But on the bright side they do have a free pinball machine so if I played that about 196 more times I'd break even.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a unique place with a lot to offer, from the bowling, venue, arcade and billiards you have a lot to do. The food from the bar is eh not sure why but the chicken tenders tasted like fish. The sit down restaurant is better but not by much. The bowling alley is set up with different modes (some specifically to use the bumpers) But the lanes are very oily and the pins are attached by strings so if you're really into bowling that maybe a deal breaker. The Venue in the back is nice theyll hold a good show or the Punk Rock flea market. There's a huge parking lot out front so what you'll save in parking fees you'll get to spend on the price of the games instead.
google avatar

Tiffany O.

Yelp
Overpriced bowling and torn up seating at the lanes. The options for food and drink were also overpriced and limited. I didn't see the pool tables we came there to use and there was an empty space where pool table lighting was present. Only positive is that the bathrooms are super clean. Don't take anyone here on a date night.

Yelp
Restaurant/Venue Review Only Restaurant was a pleasant experience with great service from our server, Liz. The chili cheese tots were pretty good. Chili seemed a little off, but not bad. Outside patio for anyone wishing to step out for a nicotine break while waiting for the order or after your meal. We ate before the concert and the band Bearings were quietly eating before the show. They were amazing, FYI. Venue was a cool backroom and garage feel, but offered great music, band merch, and a bar. Staff handed out water in between sets and even opened the outside doors to cool the building down some between shows. I recommend both restaurant and venue. Plenty of parking for both.

Yelp
Went to Eastside Bowl for a show this weekend...love the vibe of the entire establishment! Bartenders at front bar were attentive and quick. Great music venue! Large open space with upper balcony. Sound was good. Bartenders were friendly and made a good drink. We will be back...to bowl too!

Yelp
Great place to meet and hang out on the East side of Nashvegas. Free parking, non downtown parking charges, kid friendly, decent prices and totally local. We have been trying to come for a long time, but just glad it was what we were already expected. The staff were accommodating and the menu selection offers some decent options. The location is just off the beaten path and good thing as once you get there you'll enjoy the all that it offers!

Yelp
Came here for the weekly Tuesday evening Pitch Meeting, had such a good time. Tucked away behind the bowling alley, it's a small, intimate space. Really fun musicians and entertainment really, and best of all, it's free! Wow. Plenty of parking to go around as well, and the music was really good quality and interesting. Would highly recommend it!

Yelp
Easteside Bowl is a very hip bar, restaurant, bowling alley, arcade, and music venue. Sheesh, basically they have it all. It's a nice bowling alley, very safe and clean. The restaurant wasn't overly impressive, you can get diner-ish food. Not bad but not great. You can't bring the food over to the lanes, unlike most bowling alleys. So either eat before you come. Or be prepared to spend time in the restaurant before you bowl. They have a small arcade space, great for children or adults that are looking for select games. Note that they are 21+ after 10PM. This makes for a great, adult only space into the evening. The bowling alleys are your typical lanes. The shoes, despite being a rental didn't feel grimy like some other alleys. And the bowling balls were very cool! They looked like pool balls. It was a great space for my large group of 10 friends to hang out and have fun. You pay by the hour so between all of us, we only paid about $11 each, and were able to get through just over 1 game. I was a big fan of the bar. The pricing is reasonable, and they have a great offering of liquor and beers. I tried their Italian Hard Soda, SO GOOD, dangerously good. Also the Long Drink is a Finnish, gin-based drink. Also VERY GOOD. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This was a cool place. I went here with a friend during non busy hours and the guy gave us an extra 10 minutes for bowling. Everyone was nice and the bowling was fun. The food was pretty good too, i got chicken tenders and fries and a Moscow mule.

Yelp
Only came here for a concert, so this review is just for the venue alone. Cant wait to visit the bowling alley though! Eastside Bowl is such a cool concept and a great way to attract customers! Vintage atmosphere of the bowling alley mixed with a modern take on a basement-y music venue, all found in an old K-Mart. Pretty neat! The music venue is really cool, though I sort of wish there was a slightly smaller capacity. I know it's a venue and all, however the bar was hard to get to at times, trying to maneuver around everyone and no set line to wait for drinks. On the bright side, drinks were pretty cheap! $5 beers and they offer a nice variety of cocktails and canned drinks! Plus no matter where you stand, you get a great view of the stage, even from the very back behind dozens of people or in the mezzanine section. I'll totally be back!

Yelp
I attended a party at Eastside Now and honestly, I am impressed with what that place had to offer. From a diner with good food to pinball tables to obviously bowling, the place is excellent and a fun time can be had by everyone.

Yelp
Absolutely loved it! We went early in the day for breakfast and bowling. The diner was everything I wanted in my morning. The kids split the pancakes and we had eggs, bacon, avocado toast, etc. The coffee was plentiful and I even had a mimosa. Our waitress handled our larger group and rowdy kids with ease. After, we bowled. The alley is state of the art while giving you a warm hug of nostalgia. You use a touch screen to enter each bowler and select bumpers or not. The bumpers go on and off between bowlers. They are colorful and give it some pizzazz. They have bowling stands for the littles and the smallest shoe size is an 8. In addition to the alley, they have an arcade with the classics. Paperboy! PAC-Man! Frogger! All the greats, including a bunch of pinball machines. Next to the alley is the lounge. It gives you that old school bowling alley feel. I didn't get to see the event space but I have no doubt it's wonderful as well. I can't wait to go back with the kids or as adults only. Hopefully soon, I need a shepherd's pie. When the Wash closed it was truly a sad day. Their pancakes were my favorite and of course the shepherd's pie was so delicious. I can't say enough how happy I am to have them back in my life. Kudos to Eastside Bowl and The Wash fam for bringing this to East Nash, it is right up my alley!

Yelp
I would go to Eastside Bowl every monday for insdustry night. It's a great experience, and we always have a lot of fun. I also saw Tyler Childers perform here and had the most amazing night. The drinks are reasonably priced, they took great care of us, and the show was the best experience i've ever had

Jeramy F.

Yelp
I went there for a concert and was "accused" of not treating the bar staff properly and threatened to be removed from the venue. I asked repeatedly what I had done wrong and was given no answer. I'm pretty sure "Chad" (I don't know his name, but he was a Chad) wanted to "act tough" and look manly defending the poor barkeep. So what did I do, exactly. I joked that the bar was busy and it was hard for them to see me way down at the end near the stage. I gave the nice lady a $40 tip for ONE drink and said it would be great if she could look right every now and then since we were buried near the front. She said thank you very much. I guess that's cause for being threatened to be removed. I never was told what I did. If that's the kind of people they hire I won't be back. I'm a late 40s Dad. Polite. Nice. Good guy. Thanks for employing Chad! Good call!

Yelp
Eastside Bowl is an awesome place for so many reasons and great for so many different gatherings. When I first walked in, you can turn left for the diner or right for the arcade. If you want to bowl, the check in is also to the right. Then as you walk further into the space, the 16 bowling lanes are past the diner on your left! It has a major retro vibe and I loved it. They also have a great bar and billiards available too. On a Thursday night, I saw a birthday party happening and several groups hanging and bowling. You can only drink where you bowl. The diner menu is limited with offerings such as shepherd's pie, flatbread pizza, turkey club, burger, and snacks (onion rings, friesC and tots). We reserved a lane and then went to the diner to have a quick bite. While eating, our buzzer went off so if that happens, they will give you the next available lane after you finish. Fortunately we didn't have to wait when we were done eating but that food get tricky on the weekend. I think the space was a former Kmart so the parking lot is HUGE! Ample parking and has bright lights. I can't wait to come back and try hyper bowling! They had different bowling game options which was great. The rates are hourly so it was $22/hour for up to 6 people for regular and $32/hour for hyper bowl in the evening. I'm certain the rates are cheaper during the day. They were nice at checkout and the shoes were all new! They share on the website that The Wash music/entertainment venue is coming in 2022! Can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
All was well here I just need mozz stixxx added to menu bb girl thx I have to add 16 more characters to post so here it is

Dara Z.

Yelp
Bowling alley staff was nice, but we had previous people's old glasses at our table the whole time. Bar area is nice/clean. The diner would get a rating of 1. My son's fried chicken was luke warm and hard as a rock and had no flavor. Fries were cold. $5 side salad consisted of wet lettuce and 1 cucumber slice. Veggie shepherd pie wasn't nearly as good as it was in previous visit (dry and no flavor with hard lentils). Game room was great. Small but lots of options. Takes quarters.

Bria L.

Yelp
Went bowling with a group of friends here. We went to the restaurant on-site. The menu was pretty basic. They have burgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese (to name a few). I got the chicken tenders with fries. It came out and didn't taste very good. I was with two chefs who said the smell of the chicken means the oil hadn't been changed in awhile. Our waitress was visibly upset and said the kitchen staff is not good right now. I went to the bar to get a drink and the bartenders didn't seem too happy to be there; same story with the front desk to go bowling. I am not sure what is going on behind the scenes, but I got the impression nobody was happy to be working there. Which could be remedied by ensuring staff is taken care of and trained well. The facility itself is gorgeous, so it's a shame to see unhappy employees, as it reflects poorly on the overall experience.

Joe S.

Yelp
First time there but oh so much fun! Great vibe, great music (bring the Hip Replacements back!), and wonderful staff.

Sarah B.

Yelp
3 of us went to Eastside a couple of weeks ago and I find that what happened still upsetting! We went to a gig. We had an issue early in the evening and asked to speak to a manager. The manager introduced himself as Jim Ruben or something. He quickly became very defensive, rude and unpleasant and all 3 of us were very shocked and taken aback. We were all very upset and decided to leave rather than stay. The chances of us returning are very slim. There are plenty of other places where we can spend our money. We also smelt a strong smell of cannabis. We have no problem with people smoking. Maybe just not at work if they can't handle it.
google avatar

Dana G.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Eastside Bowl. We went on a week night, and the wait wasn't long at all. We enjoyed spicy margs in the lounge while we waited, and they were delicious. We had dinner after we bowled. The food was good, but it took a lot of effort to get silverware, napkins, and condiments.

First N.

Yelp
Cool bowling place but the people that work here are rude af. It's like an inconvenience to ask them for anything.like you work at a bowling alley why you mad at me?
google avatar

Scott E.

Yelp
I can't say I've seen a lot of shows in a bowling alley, but I'd happily come to one again here. It's a really nice venue with plenty of parking, a rarity in Nashville.

Gregory W.

Yelp
The place is awesome. The bartenders are a little shy on their liquor. I will next time, buy a liquor shot, then get a coke on the side. Too many bartenders are cutting out the liquor, for what? Do they get a bonus on saving liquor, I never did as a bartender.
google avatar

Joe D.

Yelp
Cool place with an Arcade and Bowling Alley..The best part is the music venue. They have a diverse schedule of acts so catch a show and see for yourself. Helpful staff as well.

Jasmine O.

Yelp
I went into Eastside Bowl today alone and genuinely had THE BEST time. This place is SO UNDERRATED! CJ was bartending and the service was excellent. He united everyone with his great stories and we were all laughing and having the best time. The decor is retro and classy - I learned that the gold paint on the walls is trade marked for Fender guitars. They also have live music! I'm going to be a regular at this place and I hope my review helps others to decide to have a great time here.
google avatar

Cemile L.

Yelp
Outstanding venue! Great staff, delicious food and cocktails. Great place for entire family. Pinball , bowling , pool & music. Love it!

Jamont D.

Yelp
I can never really get decent service guess they did last call. Really just wanted one drink but I guess they closed the bar

Yelp
This place has some work to do to live up to its cool. "East" Nashville rep. Well, pointing out the obvious, this is not East Nashville-- it's Madison. Which is technically east of the city.. but certainly not trendy East Nashville. It's a huge warehouse type building behind a gas station. Plenty of parking which confirms, this is NOT East Nashville. We walked in and got in the wrong line for about 5 minutes because their signs are so small. We moved to the correct line and got on the waitlist for bowling. In the mean time, we walked around and ended up in the diner. Quite frankly, the menu is a joke. You've got about 5 options and they're all $15 for bowling alley food... I wouldn't plan on eating dinner here. We ended up splitting a basket of fries and they were decent. We got called for our bowling sooner than they said which was great so we headed over to our lane. As opposed to usual bowling alley seats, they have something I can only describe as a comfy mix between a couch and a booth. They had a few different games you could choose to play, and you could even take some selfies to add to your scoreboard which was fun. All in all it was a fine experience, made fun more by the company I was with than the place itself.

Aireal D.

Yelp
The customer service wasn't good at all. It isnt African American friendly. Nice atmosphere, nice building, nice hyperbowl games, not so nice staff.
google avatar

Saith B.

Yelp
This place is new , and it shows ; looks like these people don't know how to run a bowling alley. We waited 45 mins for some fries and tots , they are 26 seats at the bar and 2 servers I completely understand that it's Christmas and all that their short staffed yadda yadda yadda but there should be no reason why the food takes that long and get this , after waiting so long the bartender says no more food is coming out and doesn't even offer a refund I had to force the manager or whatever that guy was to do it . What makes me most upset is that they didn't give me more time on my lanes for the time I wasted on waiting for the food , we came here for a good time maybe next time i'll sit at the bar for service. Not to mention no where on there website mentions how to book in advance they don't have a phone number. Truthfully first and last time, if your just coming here to bowl don't even try to get food. than you'll have a great time .
google avatar

AJ M.

Yelp
Ambiance, food, and arcade are winners! I haven't been in the venue space yet, but I hear it's excellent and large. They're not exactly family friendly for bowling with only one ramp. It's not like they discourage kids, but they don't go out of their way. We really enjoyed our evening.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Fantastic retro bowling alley. They went all out on the style of this place and it makes it much more fun. Unfortunately they're so popular that on a Tuesday night there was a 1.5 hour wait for a lane. (They said arrive early if you want a lane, which is a little tough for 9-5 working folks.) I can't wait to actually bowl a few games. We ended up hanging in the arcade and having drinks. Most games are 25 cents and the pinball is $1. Very cute setup. The games mostly didn't eat our quarters. The place is very clean (it's new). This would be an ideal spot for a date or a night out with friends. Even without bowling it's a super fun night out. The beer selection is decent (not massive, but they have a lot of options) and they have a kitchen and dining (which I will try out when we head there next.) I will be returning - with my ball and bowling shoes.

Kit C.

Yelp
A must stop for guests traveling through town. I've lived in Nashville for 16 years and get crotchety when old trusty spots close and new spots open. This is now one of my fave places to go! Great bar and aesthetics. Check out the arcade and venue. The pins are attached to strings though! Can be annoying if you're a serious bowler. Awesome spot in up and coming area.
google avatar

Justin C.

Yelp
This is such a fun hidden gem of Nashville! A retro bowling alley is always fun, but this one is even better because it's a high tech one! We arrived around 8:00 and did not have to wait for a lane. The bumpers lighting up was a fun touch, and the fact that you could choose all different types of bowling games made the experience even better. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I wouldn't waste your time at this place. While the scenery is nice and food is decent, the customer service is absolutely horrendous!!! We came for a birthday celebration with 6 people. They have a cake fee for $20, which is fine. They have a 20% gratuity fee which is also fine. However, the waitress lied to us when we asked if the gratuity was added onto our bill and she stated no, so we added 20%. When looking closer at our receipt, gratuity in fact had been added. Then came time for bowling and we had already been bowling for several frames and one of the members in our party was sitting across us at the other bench where nobody was sitting. One of the workers comes over to him and says that there's a reserved party coming there and he needed to get up NOW! There was absolutely zero reason for him to speak the way he did to him! As we were leaving the so called manager comes out with the other worker and yells at us to not come back and the security guard seemed very baffled at what he was saying. Then when we confronted the manager he could've cared less at our concerns about our bill, etc, as well as lied about how many times the worker came over to speak to the member of our party! He doesn't have to kick us out because we will never be back and nobody else should either.
google avatar

Walter H.

Yelp
The owner sent an employee to tell us they don't allow dogs at all in the place. Indicated it was a service dog and still didn't care.

Yelp
The customer service wasn't good overall. Had a great experience with the waitress when I ordered food for my group/party. Was overcharged and emphasize what I wanted when it was time to bowl. I didn't appreciate that at all. Also when we were bowling the person who was to come see if anyone wanted drinks did not come check on us not once. Overall spent about $100 on a fun time. It was fun because of my group but for the money I spent. I'm not going back. If I do I'm not paying for anything because I feel I got any monies worth. I expected more. It's a fun place but bad customer service overall.

Jane C.

Yelp
Okay place to bowl. A little expensive for one hour but had fun with my family. Not too busy at the time we arrived but waiting line after.

Madison F.

Yelp
I have been a "foodie" for over 20 years. Last night 2/3/22 my friends and I went with great anticipation to try the supposedly famous Shepard's Pie. We were so excited to sit at the diner bar, order a brew and eat the pies. What happened? Well, we wanted to sit at the diner bar (4 of us) but it seems that one of their female managers uses the bar as her personal desk! Yep, she sat right in the middle and did not give a crap about anything but staring at her laptop screen. I ended up finding out that her name is Rachel. We walked out. Not good. #will never return!

Safari W.

Yelp
Super dope place.. enjoy bowling and playing pool.. the bar should play the games on the TVS though instead of just "the lounge" menu over and over... good vibes though.

Hadley R.

Yelp
If I could give it a -1 I would. I won't ever be back. The bowling was cool. The music was terrible and they don't give you an option to listen to anything else or pay to play a song of your own. The stupid security guard lady with the glasses and long sad as* hair THREW AWAY MY SHOT when we were forced to eat away from our bowling lane. Then she proceeded to argue with me and say there wasn't liquor in my shot glass. So after 10 minutes of going back and forth I finally got my replacement shot. They guy at the bar was the best part of the experience. Great drinks. I ultimately believe they put this in a place they believe they could gentrify the area by white washing everything but in reality it would be a better place if they just let people listen to what they want. For it to be 18+ the lights were as bright as they could be. I won't be back though. The music SUCKED. The workers (except the bartender) SUCKED.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst experience. Will not be back. Completely unorganized we waited 90 minutes for dinner that never came because our server never placed the order. Y'all need to figure things out.

Yelp
A Nashville destination. Food in the diner is good diner fare + satisfying and well done.aqà The service is on point and welcoming. The atmosphere is classic and fun. The music venue is everything it needs to be to welcome all manner of magic. Glad to see new life out east.

Yelp
was here last night for a declan mckenna concert (who was amazing btw) but unfortunately the concert venue staff were awful. they refused to let us line up until an hour before doors, so we had to do a number system among ourselves for when they did line us up. when we had asked them earlier, they said they would honor the number system, but when they finally lined us up, they started yelling at us for trying to organize ourselves by our numbers. then at the end, the bathroom inside the venue was really crowded so we tried to go around to the bowling alley bathroom and they yelled at us again and one of the guys said "i know what you're trying to do going to stalk their tour bus" and i was like no??? i just have to pee??
