Google
If you are here as a hangout for you and your laptop, which pretty much everyone is, then it is great. It is quiet and the coffee is ok. However if you are here to work on a Bible study with a Bible and a printed lesson, the lighting is very poor. When I was a member of Hinson, the coffee shop was presented as a place where people could come and share their Christian experience with each other. But that is not the way it turned out, and with the large number of coffee shops within walking distance, I believe it was an extravagant investment in "carrying coals to Newcastle".

Google
Delicious coffee with friendly service and a spacious atmosphere meant for co-working!!! That right there is worth 7-stars cos there aren’t any places designed for you to sit at and work at. The one thing I wish they did better is serve food so I could sit there for longer. They do have pastries and cookies to go with the coffee, so you’ll have enough caffeine and sugar to stay amped for your work. We accidentally broke the glasses we had and they cleaned it up promptly by saying “glasses are meant to be broken”!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

Google
Great workspace environment with friendly staff. Really beautiful workspace and they even have little booths if you need to do a video call. Perfect place to get stuff done. I think the got a latte, and the coffee was alright. Pretty average and nothing too special, but I highly recommend the lemon muffin. It is delicious. Would definitely recommend to those looking for a nice workspace and coffee shop.

Google
I stumbled into this place a few months ago on a trip to the PNW. My world was opened to another level of coffee experience. The quality of the roast, gregarious baristas and calming vibes make Eastside an excellent place to stop in for a coffee or post up for a workday or with a good book. Ask about the left handed latte, but they seem to not always have it available.. I definitely fell in love with this place and it's top of my list anytime I can visit!

Google
Absolutely wonderful place to get some work done. Barista's are super friendly, and the space is lovely. Plenty of seating indoors and out, comfortable temperature, coffee that hits the spot, and lighting that totally vibes. And to top it off, there's two sound-isolating booths for phone calls and focused computer work with outlets and everything. One of my favorite places to hole up and work. Indoor seating is open during the 'pandemic' too, which is absolutely fantastic since most places are take-out only.

Google
coffee cake was a bit on the dry side, but still flavorful lavender latte had a good ratio where i can still taste the coffee AND lavender love the vibes, def a work space so it’s not chaotic at all and there was plenty of tables especially the ones outside for nicer days! also love the phone work booth that’s included here if you need to get into a video call! pretty much sound proof from the outside!

Google
Quiet early morning hangout serving crafted morning sips with spacious seating. Delicious pasty served with real forks/spoons on everyday china lends elegance to the experience!

Google
I had heard about this place as a community shared public space, and brought my homework here to try it out. They have tons of seating and charging outlets, including three or four private phonebooth-style offices for zoom/phone calls. The cafe is available if you want coffee/pastries, and everyone was very nice! It was fairly crowded but still had seating and the wifi was good 👍

Yelp
This is a great little spot . The coffee was delicious and the space is quit and chill if you're trying to read or work. I wouldn't recommend going if you are meeting friends to catch up. It's mainly set up for people who want quit to be able to work. The service was ok. The guys were nice but they messed up my one bagel request which was a completely different flavor . That's nothing to worry about but I'll pay more attention next time .

Yelp
Great place to do work/study. There are a few single occupant booths that you can take meetings in. Plenty of outlets on the wall and floor at some tables for charging. Theres one large table and multiple 2-people smaller tables. Coffee was decent. Only complaint is that there's no a/c. Came here on a warm, summer day. It was cooler outside in the shade than it was inside.

Yelp
Lovely little quiet café with actual enclosed booths for work space and artsy décor. Friendly service and some decent pastry options including gluten free. I wasn't as much a fan of the espresso in my Americano, but their chai made with coconut milk was definitely "the cat's meow." Another yelp review mentioned they had a kid-friendly zone, but that isn't there anymore.
google avatar

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Decent coffee. I think the space itself is one of the best parts. Very open and as others have mentioned, they have two pods you can go in if you need complete quiet. It wasn't too crowded when I went on a Thurs morning so definitely a good place to get work done if you needed somewhere quieter. I got an americano and coffee cake. The americano isn't anything to write home about but did taste smooth and not at all bitter/acidic. The coffee cake was moist and lighter than other coffee cakes I've had. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but I was staying at an Airbnb nearby so it was a nice, close option.

Yelp
i stopped by here with my friend to get some work done. the neighborhood is a little bit sketchy as there was a man who stumbled in cursing, and reeking of cigarette smoke, but the baristas and the other patrons didn't pay him any attention and he left. the baristas working here were kind, but nothing too special to note because i just ordered and sat down. noise level wise, we were able to finish a bit of our work as when we were here the cafe was quiet. there are plenty of outlets and great natural and artificial lighting and wifi to aid in getting work done. there was also a private booth for meetings and calls when i last came here too. i got the 16 oz mocha and i liked how light and smooth the coffee was! the tulip latte art was also really pretty and i almost didn't want to drink it... studying rating: 8.5/10!!! a good place to come and get work done.

Yelp
I'm so happy this place exists! Perfect for working, lots of seats and outlets, free WiFi, 3 soundproof booths and unisex bathroom. 5 star for space, decor and ambiance for a work setting but the pastry and drinks are just okay in my opinion. Not bad but not something I'd go out of my way to drive to and order. Mainly come here for the workspace. Street parking has generally been okay to find. The menu says latte but they have flavor syrups that aren't listed. I ordered a lavender latte and the lavender flavor was extremely mild to the point where I didn't quite notice it. Blueberry cheese pastry was pretty good but not amazing. I really appreciate the very reasonable pricing!! Can't remember but it was lower than average.

Yelp
Coming from the Bay Area, it makes me appreciate a place like this where they specifically call it a workspace. Prices are honest and actually very reasonable, coffee is perfect to go along with the work ahead of you that day. Appreciated the warmth and friendliness of everyone, and also the atmosphere of the place in general. When I come back to Portland, this will definitely be the place I come to work and chill!

Yelp
Good coffee, plenty of seating and outlets, Wi-Fi, private booths for calls and focused work, excellent customer service. Perfect for doing all my creative writing! Been coming here every week for over a year. Will continue to do so even if I move and have to drive farther to get here.

Yelp
Luna enjoyed a covered high up spot to people watch in the rain. Her mom have a lovely lavender matcha. Staff were friendly, service was speedy. It's a cute chill place to hang out even in the rain.

Yelp
I miss the pre-pandemic days of dragging myself off my home couch to go work for a few hours at a coffee shop. This place allows that to be possible even now with masked staff / patrons and distanced / sanitized tables. What makes it a good place to work? Outlets near almost every table. Music is a good volume that allows you to think but not overhear everyone's conversations. Free wifi with password displayed at every table. What could be better? Pastry and coffee options were just fine. Not the most amazing coffee cake I've ever had but certainly edible, and a little odd to add whip cream on top of apple cider. Still good. Only other thing missing for me is a comfy couch or oversized chair to nestle into!

Yelp
It's so nice (and rare) to find a nice coffee shop where you can actually sit and work while enjoying delicious coffee these days! This coffee shop was built for getting work done. There are three of these cool little individual study rooms, a printer and lots of other tables! The inside has great lighting, decorations and ambiance. And the coffee...AMAZING! I tried the maple cinnamon latte with oat milk and it was fall in a cup. Especially with the whipped cream! Worth every calorie. The baristas were super sweet and welcoming too. Only sad part is that it's closed on Sundays!

Yelp
Are you looking for a place to WFH away from home? This is your place!! A few blocks away from Hawthorne, Eastside Coffee Bar is a small, quiet cafe with delicious coffee, mellow lighting, and plenty of seating. They also feature a couple of phone booth-like offices (?) for private phone calls and/or video calls. They offer a wide selection of coffee options from Coava and pastries for some work/study fuel. They have the wifi password available at every table, preventing my awkward self from trying to look for it by the register. I went on a Monday morning, and it was pretty busy. Most of the tables were filled for the entirety of my stay. Definitely try to arrive early if you plan on establishing home base for a couple of hours. Most of the people there were either studying or working, so I didn't feel too distracted. Thank you to Eastside for providing us options to WFH!! I'll be back!

Yelp
Very cool spot to work at if you're in the area. It can get noisy at times and packed. The place does have spots where it's too warm and spots where it's too cold. Otherwise, it offers great drinks, and good Wi-Fi for a quick spot to stop by to get some work done.
google avatar

Rachel D.

Yelp
I'm always looking for cafes that have a good environment to study, this one fits the bill. It's a cute space with comforting lighting. They have a few individual working booths that are fairly noise-canceling. The coffee was solid too.

Yelp
This is the perfect spot to work from! Great coffee and baked goods. And they even have a few soundproof booths that you can use for your virtual meetings!

Yelp
We were in between Airbnbs when visiting the Pacific Northwest and looking for a place to work remotely. We came across Eastside which had just what we needed. The phone booths are great. Good coffee and chai tea. And we loved the outdoor seating. Would have been nice if there were outlets outside but we made do.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Cute coffee shop with affordable prices and even a few cool study booths. Found it looking for a study spot and can confirm it's a great place to get work done. However, after finding out they are run by Hinson Baptist Church, who maintains a deep partnership with First Image PRC, I'd rather find another coffee shop not associated with an Anti-Choice organization masquerading as a neutral pregnancy health service. Pretty decent coffee but passing next time...

Yelp
This place is awesome! If you need to work or just relax, this place is THE spot! I needed a spot to do some work in a pinch, and Eastside Coffee Bar was exactly what I needed. Bonus- three private soundproof booths available for people to use! The staff are all volunteers and all proceeds go to keep this place open for the community! Awesome idea! Very thankful!

Sierra S.

Yelp
Just a 5 minute walk from our air B&B - very welcoming! I ordered a mocha and Mike had vanilla latte .. Clearly made with love ' Love the relaxing atmosphere. They offer private work stations. The coffees were delicious!

Yelp
would come here again. coffee is great, all of my friends said they loved their drinks. be prepared to really get stuff done here as it's a very quiet coffee bar. loved the little meeting cubicles
google avatar

Yelp
Great space for studying, hanging out, or just grabbing a cup of coffee to go! Very aesthetic interior. Even has two individual booths if you need a quieter space! Coffee was good and baristas were friendly.

Yelp
Eastside is the perfect place for meeting up with a friend, working remote, reading a book, or grabbing coffee to go! I love the ambiance and I challenge you to finder nice/friendlier staff in Portland. Great coffee with fun seasonal offerings as well. Definitely check it out!
google avatar

Yelp
One of my new favorite coffee places in Portland! I had to check out of my Airbnb and found this gem to continue to work for the rest of the day before my flight and was pleasantly surprised. Love the atmosphere and decor, provided a great welcoming vibe to focus on work(even has booths for quiet time)and enjoy a cup of coffee. I ordered the ice white mocha(twice!) in the same setting and it was probably the best white mocha I've tasted. I've tried many different coffee shops in Portland, and this is top 3 for me!

Yelp
Welcome to Eastside! The coffee here is amazing like how God removes our sin as far as the East is from the west. You got all kinds of farmer direct coffee available. These coffee beans are magical like Jack and the Beanstalk but without the beanstalk. My favorite drink was the Chai, which was Amazing Grace in your face to the taste. It just warms you from the inside out. The space is really good if you want to read, hang out, or do a work meeting. The table/chair to open space ratio is exactly what you want. It is enough space where you don't feel claustrophobic, but at the same time, you can still hear the person in front of you for a conversation. Now, for all you family people out there. This is the first coffee bar that I have ever been to that has space for children. Never in my 26 years of life have I seen a family friendly coffee bar. Eastside is the place to bring your entire family! Let's goooooooo! The RIGHT direction to make is to visit Eastside. Don't wait until EAST-er.
google avatar

Dominique N.

Yelp
This was my spot when I was working remote and living in SE! The coffee and service is great, but what I love most is the workspace area. Many of the tables have outlets to plug in your laptop and there are booths in case you need to make work calls or need privacy. Doing my work here made sure I was on-task while sipping on my coffee. I hope I can find a place like this nearby my house now.

Yelp
As someone constantly on the hunt for coffee shops to work remotely from, I find Eastside Coffee to be a sold spot, especially since the 2019-2020 closures of the beloved Southeast Grind and East Portland Coffee Roasters. The coffee shop is volunteer-run and everyone strives to make the space accessible for the community -- you can certainly feel how warm & friendly the staff members are upon walking in. You'll find tons of folks here studying or working. Plus, plenty of seats, outlets, & free wifi.
google avatar

Miggi I.

Yelp
Great place to work remotely! Staff are friendly and helpful. Feels like a place where people get to know your name and build community. People are also respectful of your space and others working.

Yelp
Coffee is delicious. Baristas so friendly and efficient. Art is beautiful. Super quiet space and very relaxing.

Yelp
Best latte I have ever had. I went twice in one day, first time I got a 16oz latte with almond milk and lavender syrup and the second was a 16oz latte with almond milk and vanilla syrup. The ambiance was quiet, the staff was friendly, and the business was *exceptionally* clean.
google avatar

Yelp
I have been looking for a cafe to get some work done in but haven't had too much luck until I stumbled upon Eastside Coffee Bar & Workspace. They have such a great space to feel productive in, so many outlets, 2 sound proof rooms, and a printer! The coffee was also incredible and the staff was really friendly. This is my new go-to spot to get work done in.
google avatar

Judy K.

Yelp
Coffee was good! Definitely loved the interior space and seems like a great place to study or get work done. Will come back :)
google avatar

Richard J.

Yelp
Great coffee, great location, good place for meeting up or just getting some work done. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
This place is so great. Beautiful, welcoming interior, the friendliest baristas, and great coffee. Great outdoor seating on a sunny day as well. They are doing an amazing job navigating the ever-changing requirements for the pandemic - everything is very clean and sanitary and I'm so grateful that there is still somewhere to sit inside and get some work done. Highly recommend Eastside!
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
Delicious espresso, my wife also loved her oat milk latte. The space was spacious and relaxing as well, I imagine some good events to be held post-COVID. There were a few people working or hanging out, but all socially distanced. Was glad to support a local business during this unstable time.
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
Great coffee and people. Great place to work! Suggested donation only $2.50 for a cold brew! Wonderful addition to neighborhood. Baristas are friendly as is the owner Tim.
google avatar

John O.

Yelp
Amazing beans, delicious, skillfully made drinks. Cute neighborhood spot with really tasteful modern decoration. Would definitely come back!

Daniella D.

Yelp
It's a great place to do some work or school work. If you want privacy, they have private little boxes where you can go in and it's all quiet when you close the door. The drinks and pastries are delicious as well! I recommend the matcha latte with a muffin!

Christine S.

Yelp
Super friendly staff, good coffee, fast service, allowed dogs which is a big plus! Cute place would recommend.

Ben W.

Yelp
Wonderful place to hang out with tasty pastries and coffee. Plenty of tables, power outlets, and even a couple of private booths for taking calls or getting some work done.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot to hang out, drink coffee, and meet up with friends. It's nice to have a place to work and safely meet with people, especially during this time. I'm very much a regular.

Yelp
Great Coffee. Farmer direct coffee available. Friendly and genuinely engaging workers. Fantastic atmosphere and decor. A great spot for meetings and community events. My new favorite coffee spot in PDX.

Hannah S.

Yelp
This is such a great new spot! Nice and big with great seating. Staff is friendly and made great coffee (coava). It's quiet enough to work. They also have large meeting area for bigger groups.
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
This is just what this neighborhood needed! Welcome! Check it out, this place is awesome. And a non-profit! I can only speak for the delicious cold brew and the crusty-perfect banana-chocolate swirl muffin I has this afternoon, but I'm hooked.

Karinka A.

Yelp
So cute inside and baristas are sweet! They have Coava beans so the coffee tastes great. Great study/work vibe.

Yelp
My favorite spot to study (in soundproof boxes) or meet up with friends outside or inside! Their chai is perfection as well!
