"Funky, oh-so-Berkeley restaurant Easy Creole offers about a dozen Louisiana-inspired stews every day. The options change regularly but half are always vegan and many of them are made with a gluten-free roux. Served over brown or white rice, some stews taste traditional and others go to surprising places. If you aren’t so sure you’d like a Thai peanut etouffee, you can also sample any of the stews before committing. Skip the baguette and opt for gluten-free cornbread instead." - Janelle Bitker

Yelp
I loved easy creole and really miss it. Can you share the recipe for my favorite dish of yours, Devil's Chili?

Yelp
5/5 Stars I stumbled upon this place while taking a walk around a friend's neighborhood. I wasn't that hungry but knew I should eat since I haven't eaten in 9 hours. I passed a few placed and none of their menus made my stomach growl to taste it. I stopped and saw the menu here and was very curious. I never had creole food (i think) so i stepped in. A lovely lady welcomed me in, answered my questions and gave me her recs. I said give it all to me. I ordered: -The 1/2 & 1/2 Chicken and Shrimp Creole with sour cream, onion and sour cream -Cornbread (if they have it, order it. It runs out) -Cole Slaw It was all full of flavor and fulfilling. The prices were great and i will be a retuning customer. So glad randomly found this place.

Yelp
3.5 is more accurate but Yelp doesn't do halfsies. Came with my husband on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. If you're looking for beautifully plated dishes then this place isn't for you. It isn't pretty and there are no frills, just good ol' comfort food. How authentically creole it is, is debatable but that doesn't take away from it being tasty. We ordered: - Chicken Creole: i was given the option to add cheese, onions, or sour cream and I said yes to all three lol. The cheese and sour cream made it extra creamy and the diced onions gave the dish some texture - without the onions it's all pretty soft. The chicken was shredded and pretty much melts in your mouth. It didn't have the level of cajun spice that I typically like, but hot sauce made up for that. - Bourbon Red Beans: my husband had this (and I snuck a bite). He said the hot links weren't hot, but overall good flavor and very filling. The baguette that comes with this (and the Chicken Creole) was a nice touch. - Bread Pudding: liked it! Large portion of warm thick bready goodness. - Cornbread: it's gluten free which often slightly changes the texture of things but this was still delicious. I love that there were whole corn kernels mixed into the batter.

Yelp
I am really happy to say I used the catering services at EC and LOVED the experience! Russell and his team were BEYOND accommodating, it was a breeze! He made EVERYTHING easy peasy! They also delivered it and brought over everything he could think of that we would've needed. Here's the thing I think people get confused about...they say this isn't "creole" food when in reality it CLEARLY states in the info section that they're a little bit of this..lil bit of that! That their menu is Creole "inspired" with usage of spices often used in Creole cooking. Thats why its called "Easy" Creole. With that being said...food was great! Hot, fresh, just the right amount of kick! Here were our choices: Shrimp Etoufee - they licked the pan clean! Gumbo - gone immediately! Chicken one (not the tequila one) - I had to hide some to take home it was so good! Red beans and hot links - Spicy! I would 100% order from them again, no doubt! They really are flexible. Thanks Russell!!

Yelp
Interesting concept. Half the menu is Omni and the other is vegan. Choose one or two entries over white or brown rice and it come with a piece of baguette that is toasted and "buttered ". Food is quick as it is already made in the back. There are sides and dessert if you want them too. There are large communal tables inside and a few places outside to eat. I think it's best with spicy to get the lost flavor as eating mushroom stroganoff after the white bean chili did not have the same flavor profile and got lost. Note: I would give this 3.5 stars but there is no half stars. come hungry as we ate a noon and I did not need dinner as I was still full.

Yelp
This place was a local go-to for years. They closed down in August but said they'd secured a sale to someone who was going to re-open it, but now it sounds as though the buyer has reneged on the deal (or, to be accurate to what's been posted, "did not complete" the deal). I confess I'd been concerned about this for weeks, when en route for a pint at Hoi Polloi one afternoon I noticed some people going into the now shuttered property to look around. I surmised they were involved in the deal. A few days later, the sign referencing re-opening had been removed. Truly sad, I hope they figure something out. A great location and very good food. Do wish they'd brought back the cold brew after the pandemic, but these are small concerns in the existential churn of things. PS - If you want to stay updated on Easy Creole's fate, follow them on Instagram, that's where I heard the news.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: I was pretty impressed with this place. I'll definitely be back. The extended review... Food: Chicken Creole & Shrimp Etouffee - 4/5 - OK...so both of these were both delicious and more importantly rich in flavor. I'm so glad that they offer a half and half option so that I could try both dishes. Service: 4/5 - Friendly service. Ambiance: 4/5 - Indoor and outdoor seating is available here. We sat indoors at the communal tables. There is a huge variety of decor inside and it's great to take a look at while you wait for your food.

Yelp
I. Love. Easy. Creole. It's warm, comforting, and just so good. I love a place with a small menu, it definitely helps with indecisive people like me. Then to top it all off, you can do half & half so you can try TWO different things, even better! Everything was so flavorful and so filling. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. The last time I went I got the tequila caliente which was still good but definitely was on the outer limit of my spice tolerance. I recommend it if you like the spice!! Also get the corn bread. It's deliciously moist and the drizzle of honey all over the top is just perfect.

Mel E.

Yelp
So yummy! The first time I came based off of Yelp reviews, the second time I brought my sisters based off how blown away we were by the food from our first visit. First things first, save room for dessert!! We didn't care for the rice pudding (probably just personal preference) but all 4 of us LOVEDDD the bread pudding. The bread was light, fluffy, and the perfect amount of sweet and the balance of flavors in the sauce were perfect. My favorite dishes were the "Shrimp Ettoufee" and the "Chicken Creole". These dishes were so warm and comforting and sticks to your bones. The portions are hefty so if you have a small appetite or want to save room, or for dessert I think you could get away with sharing. Also I really that you can order a combo of two dishes. Service was pretty good, food came out fast & servers were friendly. The environment is casual and relaxed. Also, they have high chairs which made it so much easier since we had my nephew with us. I would say the best time to visit when the food is extra fresh is a few hours before dinner rush. Our food was steaming hot & extra fresh when we first visited around 4pm on a Saturday.

Christopher P.

Yelp
What a place this is! Although it doesn't look appetizing, it was delicious! The baguette that they give you is a perfect compliment to the food. I would also definitely get the corn bread, it's the best I've ever eaten!

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
Easy Creole made it easy (ha) to try Creole cuisine! I really enjoyed their set up and how they change the menu everyday. It seems like they put their own twist on the cuisine with the dishes offered. The lady at the front was super patient and kind enough to explain each of the dishes we were considering. There's also plenty of seating indoors and outdoors to enjoy the meal. My boyfriend and I came here for lunch, and we were so excited about the choices that we got 2 half and half plates ($13 each). This was a bit ambitious of us and you could probably even split 1 plate between 2 people. We ended up trying the chicken creole, shrimp étouffée, chicken maque choux, and Thai peanut étouffée, which all came with cheese, onions, sour cream, and bread. The first 2 entrees were our favorites, but all of them had really great flavor. The thai peanut étouffée was a pretty interesting fusion -- I'm not sure I would get it again, but I appreciated the creativity and the fact that they have vegetarian options. The food is overall on the saltier and heavier side, so be prepared to be stuffed afterwards!

Craig G.

Yelp
Yo Steph said it best... gruel.... But for 12 bucks and 2 choices, not too shabby. I would not call this Authentic, but as many things In Bizerkely have a vegan, healthy or off the wall twist... this was not too bad. The real issue is the gravy baby consistency of the two dishes I had, shrimp etouffee', and stroganoff. The servings were on a paper plate over a bed of rice. It was dripping off the plate as the waiter brought it to the table. The staff was super friendly but it's real hard to eat off a plate with plastic fork when it's more soup than stew. It wasn't stroganoff or etouffee, but it was pretty tasty nonetheless. Washed down with A Pilsner from next door, dinner and a beer for less that 20!

Sydney J.

Yelp
I decided to share with my partner and ordered shrimp etouffee and tofu ropa. The food comes with some bread as well as a chunk of sour cream. I thought the food was delicious - juicy with all the cheese, onions, and sauce, and the bread and cream was helpful for balancing out the flavors. I appreciate that this place offers vegetarian and vegan friendly options. You'll have to check before you go on what's on the menu, since there's a limited array of dishes offered that rotates.

Yelp
Don't get this place's high score - overindulgent Berkeley people? Suspiciously fast service vastly outweighed by everything tasting the same and looking/feeling like slop. None of the delicacy or complexity of creole food I love. Fun vibes, though the shelves could use a good dusting. Easy skip.

Sam R.

Yelp
SO GOOD. Can't believe I missed this place for so long. The food is so dang tasty here, and the inside is plastered with really cool memorabilia. Plus the outside seating is lovely. Fast, friendly service here, for a delicious and FILLING meal. Hard to find value like this at any other restaurant.

Sophia L.

Yelp
So delicious! I got the spinach and mushroom, chicken creole, and shrimp creole. All of the dishes were full of flavor. Beware, the spinach and mushroom has a slight spicy kick if you don't like spicy! The shrimp creole was my favorite. Something about the texture and spices really worked well. The corn bread also has actual corn kernels in it. I called in to order for pickup and they were ready with the order in under 10 minutes!

Catherine F.

Yelp
I got the mushroom and spinach etouffee. Absolutely disgusting. It was at once flavorless and also overly flavored. I felt gross after eating the meal too.

Breezy O.

Yelp
Honey bourbon chicken and brown rice good. Not great no creole zing like in New Orleans. Much better than another creole restaurant in Oakland, Ca. It starts with a B$@3d6s'. Transplanted creole and Cajun food can only rely on recipes and local resources. So I give them a B++ in effort. The god is god and the ambiance is really calm. Now the cornbread is gluten free and I would give it 5 stars but once you take out the gluten it loses its ability to be awesome. How I looking for the days before gluten free. When everything was fresh and had no preservatives or other stuff. Straight from the farm to the table. Anyways overall a good spot for the price.

Big Baby Jesus C.

Yelp
The owner commented on my review, saying I could "eat a bag of dicks" so in addition to horrible food, they also have the worst customer service I've ever seen. I will never, ever come here again.

Camille H.

Yelp
Downgrade to one star (two stars was generous to begin with but I was trying to be nice). Yelp is all about my opinion, and I am entitled to it. The business apparently does not think so, and wasted time sending an attitudinal reply to my review. So dear business owner, that response did not change my opinion at all, it only lowered my opinion of your establishment. You want suggestions, I'm happy to provide them. First, stop cooking your food to death. Your so-called creole food looks like slop over rice because you over cook it. Suggestion number two get off of Yelp with your negative responses to your very few bad reviews and focus on better cooking in your kitchen. My review was fair and balanced. The purpose of Yelp is not for me to tell you, what to do but rather a place for me to say what I felt and I did that. Enjoy your high ratings and much success to your business. And if you're comfortable serving up slop, run with it my friend. So that brings me to my last suggestion- change the name of your establishment because what you're serving is not Creole food - nowhere near it my friend. PS - you give samples? Wish I had known. Another suggestion: offer a sample before customers order. I could have avoided throwing away and entire plate of "food."

Austin W.

Yelp
The food at Easy Creole is incredible and is easily one of the best restaruants I've tried out in the East Bay: of the three mains I had a chance to try -- shrimp etoufee, mushroom stroganoff, and chicken creole, every bite was a bite I wanted to savor. Though the food doesn't photograph well -- as everything just looks like a stew and is a bit monotone in color, the taste is there! There are layers upon layers of flavor in each dish, there's spice where there needs to be, and at the end of the meal, I can assure you the only thing you'll want to do is food-coma. Food here is exactly what I'm looking for when I think of comfort food. Though each entree comes with a piece of baguette, I would strongly recommend getting rice with the dish -- it just goes so well together. The portions here are GENEROUS: I was unable to finish all my food in one sitting. Lastly, I would definitely recommend ordering the corn bread, drizzled with honey, served with a dollap of butter. The corn bread is super moist, and the corn kernels inside is a nice touch.

Yelp
Half Choctaw Chili VEG. Half Mr G. Bed of fresh cooked rice Authentic and rustic That chili for veggie is meaty with veggies Had me going back to the French laundry With them veggies and sauce Thank you

Yelp
Easy Creole was introduced to me by my boyfriend. He's suggested spots in the past that were just so-so. So , I went in with low expectations lol. However, I was instantly impressed especially with the unique decor. They have plenty of Hot Sauce choices ( I love variety of sauce). I must admit that I crave going here. I follow them on IG because they post their daily menu (smart). I have not made it to the fan fav Gumbo chicken sausage dish. Oh, but I will one day soon. I always get the half & half my man always gets the chicken creole and the shrimp étouffée. I normally get Bourbon red beans w/ hot links, and the vegan choice of tequila caliente. The flavors are tantalizing, bursting with flavor, mouthwatering coupled with the buttery baguette (we always order extra baguette). The staff here are super knowledgeable and descriptive with the dishes when inquiring. I'll catch that gumbo dish soon & write about that, too.

Ella W.

Yelp
We ordered delivery for 4 people and got a quart of the Chicken Creole. I loved it! The cornbread was delicious, especially when eaten with the chicken creole combined. The plain bread was also good, though a bit greasy. If I was going to order again I'd just get more cornbread instead of any regular bread.

Yelp
Hey I know you're closing. Which is a real drag cause I love eating a warm pile of num num after getting sh*tty day drunk next door. My goal is to hold it all in and savor the next days exit. But unfortunately sometimes the exit happens while riding a sit-down Veo scooter home as the up-flow interrupts my out-of-tune singing. Good thing the scooter has a basket to catch it so I don't leave the mess on the street like the homeless. Anyhoo I just really wrote to say I read all of your snarky review comments and LOVE LOvE LOVE them. F@&ck those arse*#%holes. All the best in your next venture. I'll return for one more fill. Cheers!

Yelp
I remember going here a few years back and have always wanted to return, remembering the cool vibe and great food. And when the opportunity came to go back for birthday lunch with my family, it was better than i had remembered! Delicious food with huge portions. My two daughters shared one dish each with their boyfriends in fact. I'm glad we got to go back and look forward to doing it again. If you want good portions with a cool atmosphere, check out Easy Creole.

Yelp
In my never-ending search for great Creole and Cajun cuisine, I found Easy Creole in Berkeley. Here in California, it's hard to find authentic Creole restaurants that have somehow leveraged and incorporated the essence of Louisiana and especially The Big Easy, New Orleans, into their food. This place has done it in a humble, hip, cool, jazzy little spot on Alcatraz Avenue just west of Adeline Street. Easy Creole features a rotating menu of mostly NOLA dishes that range from spicy to mild, are either meaty or vegetarian, and are all very very good. Just take a look at their big chalkboard menu in the back (you can't miss it) for the day's selections...and enjoy. Red Beans & Hot Links is one of my favorites and it's hard to resist an extra piece of their addictive corn bread. They usually have several étouffées (amazing smothered dishes), and great desserts. Try the Cole Slaw, it's different and delicious. The chef here is creative and talented, offering a nice variety of dishes in generous and tasty portions. If you miss Southern cooking, you'll feel at home here.

Tracy D.

Yelp
This place is da bomb. Had shrimp étouffée and and bourbon chicken with brown rice with corn bread while enjoying some brew next door on a random Sunday afternoon. Stumbled upon this place unplanned. O. M. G the "gravy" of shrimp étouffée was to die for melt in your mouth delicious. I cannot wait to go back and eat some more. Check their insta for their daily menu board. Left with a satisfied tummy wanting more.

Sandra J.

Yelp
Thank goodness this place is here. It's perfect with Hoi Polloi next door. Love to Meet friends here and spend some time. east Creole is DELICIOUS, every time.

Tanasha B.

Yelp
Coming to this place was bittersweet, had just attended a funeral this day for my Uncle, and wanted to get out of the Valley. Mom wanted some "Creole" food. She mentioned this place in Berkeley said I would love it. My Mother's family is Louisiana Creole so I am very picky about "Creole Cuisine" outside of New Orleans. This place is it. I am not huge bell pepper fan, and this food was loaded with bell peppers, but its cooked so well, I was able to tolerate it. I ordered the "Chicken Creole" totally not how I am used to having it, and especially with the cheese, onions and sour cream on the side. It did throw me off, but I can say it was absolutely delicious. Different, but it worked. Total comfort food, something that would be made in my family's home and we would eat. I loved it. Only complaint, it had a ton of onions on it, and I hate onions, I don't mind the flavor but the onion itself, I do not like to bite into. Overall, even with the gloom of the day I enjoyed the meal, ate outside, found parking easily, found the restaurant with no problem. For sure have been back tons of times, rather more than I need too lol. Love when my Mom recommends good spots ..

Daryl H.

Yelp
You've got to be kidding me. I lived in Louisiana for 10 years, this is not in the same galaxy as real Creole food. Their shrimp etouffee tasted like haphazardly seasoned slop and looked like canned corn chowder. I beg you people to google shrimp etouffee and see what it's supposed to look like.

Omar F.

Yelp
Stoped by last week for the shrimp etouffee and did not enjoy it. The rice was way over cooked and starchy, shrimp didn't have much flavor, over all texture together was one consistent mush with know separation of vegetables, shrimp, rice... just mush. To be clear to the staff or others reading this review in the future I am not comparing it to my expectations of authentic Creole food. Willing to give it another shot in a few months and will happily update my review if food quality improves. Also after reading a few reviews, samples are recommended before ordering (?) I was not aware this was an option and suggest it's either vocalized by the staff or made more apparent visually to potential customers. Highlights were that the staff was kind, parklet, and next to a brewery...

Tiana M.

Yelp
I have been craving creole food ever since I have eaten it in Columbus Ohio. I brought my family here for a quick dinner and wow!!! It was a hit!! Everyone absolutely loved it. Service was quick (food came out in ~5 min). The corn bread is the best we have ever eaten!! Drenched in honey and absolutely delicious, a must get. My favorites were the chicken creole and heart attack. I will add this to one of my favorite restaurants in the bay

Laxmi K.

Yelp
Okay this is definitely one of my new favorite spots in the area! I've popped in a few times with a couple of coworkers and every experience has ended in a fabulous-can't move-can't breathe-but-so-satisfied food coma. My go-to orders are the chicken creole and/or the shrimp etouffee with brown rice and all the extra add-ons (onions, tomatoes and sour cream). I haven't tried the vegetarian/vegan options yet but have heard high accolades from my coworkers. What I love about this place is the simplicity of the menu and the flexibility - you can do 1/2 & 1/2 if you want to try multiple menu items, full plate if you know what you love and are willing to commit, or a 1/2 plate if you know what you love but are trying to put off the impending food coma. We've always taken our food to go since there isn't an outdoor dining option and it's usually ready to go within 5-7 minutes of our order. Highly recommend and definitely beware of that food coma/food baby!

Tiffany H.

Yelp
Bomb Creole food! On my most recent visit, I got the chicken creole, which I really liked. I also got the maque choux on my precious visits- both the chicken and shrimp versions are wonderful. All their dishes are so hearty and flavorful- it's hard to go wrong with any of them. If you have trouble deciding, don't hold back and ask for samples. Don't forget to order the cornbread!! Good stuff yo.

Kyle E.

Yelp
Oki doki...well now... hmmm...it...was...a magical experience not only in my mouth but my entire being. I asked for the 1/2 & 1/2 and said I have no allergies or dietary restrictions, it was my first time eating there, and I'd love whatever the chef would order for himself. Well, I got this (see pic). I don't actually know what this was, but from the bread to the sour cream to the hot sauce to the thick melted cheese to the magical goopity gooope (I made these words up) below said cheese I can confidently say this was one of my favorite meals...ever. Oh and most of all, I gotta give a shout-out to the two working tonight (Wednesday 4/28 @9:00pm) cause they were the key to my experience. They both were helpful, kind and left me with a deep rooted sense of belonging. You know I like that belonging stuff. Any who, go, go swiftly and order Easy Creole. Go now!

Bob G.

Yelp
The food here is not Creole nor is it good. I review EC to warn anyone looking for creole food to avoid this place. Even if you aren't looking for authentic creole, the food here is not nuanced. It's standard big batch slop. The owner is apparently very thin skinned and loves posting vitriolic responses. Why be in a business that serves the public if you can't handle criticism? It's not meant as a personal attack. I grew up in New Orleans eating creole food in restaurants and in my home. I know exactly what it is. This is not it. Don't go with that expectation and don't go with the expectation of getting anything other than mediocrity. And Maude, no one is attacking you personally. As they say, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Heidi P.

Yelp
A Hard Pass -- This place could be a whole lot better if it tried. Aside from generous portions, there isn't much to say good about it. It's as if someone opened a bunch of big cans of stewed tomatoes, mixed it with a ton of white rice, some unmeasured amounts of creole seasoning, some bay shrimp, some poor quality chicken, WAY too much salt, then left it on the stove for days and continued serving this slop until it went bad, charging way to much a plate and called it good. With tax and tip I left having spent $17. Sad. Do better! It's a cute place.

Ray B.

Yelp
This was a last minute choice. It was late Saturday night, and we had not eaten. Due to the pandemic, restaurants tend to close earlier. But then we came across Easy Creole - and they were open! We called in our order, and the person on the phone was very nice, and made the ordering experience easy - just like their name. The food was delicious, and although I had some apprehension about the gluten-free cornbread, I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty it was. I will definitely repeat. BB

Shayla B.

Yelp
This isn't Creole food. This ain't even Creole "style" food. I applaud your efforts in attempting to create Creole style cuisine, but this is far, FAR from it. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now since so many people have raved about it in the past. When the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance. Stopped by on a weekday evening and they weren't too busy. One thing I can attest to is their decor. No dull moments when it comes to that. The decorations are really fun and it made me even more excited to try their food. Their menu items consist of many signature Creole dishes including gumbo, étouffée, and shrimp/chicken creole. They've also got lots of vegan entrees listed. What's nice about their menu is that you can do a half and half combo portion. I didn't know at the time that you could actually sample the food beforehand and that they had a refund policy in place. Nobody told me this while I was there and I don't remember seeing it posted anywhere because I would have GLADLY taken advantage pf this. I decided to do the half and half shrimp étouffée and chicken Creole. When I went to sit down, I noticed all of the sauces stacked up on the table. If the food is seasoned right, why would anyone need to use all of those damn sauces? My food arrived really quickly. Like TOO quickly. There was no way in hell that they prepared this food fresh. It may take "hours and hours" to prepare certain types of Creole dishes, but I can definitely tell you that NEITHER of these dishes had been cooking for hours. They were pre-made possibly even more than a day before. I could barely even make out what each one was when they delivered it to my table. I mean, I could see the shrimp in étouffée but what the ef was on the other side of that plate? It seriously looked like regurgitated food. But never mind how it looked because sometimes the sh*ttiest looking meals end up tasting the best. Nope. This looked AND tasted like sh*t. First of all, the chicken Creole wasn't even "chicken" anymore. The consistency was like slop. It had an overpowering tomato taste and it was bland AF. The shrimp étouffée was a bit better, but that's not really saying much. It too had a very watered down consistency and it also lacked in flavor. And that Gawd awful bread! GEEZUS! It was swimming in so much oil that I literally couldn't even eat it. Now I understand why they have so many sauces on the table.... this sh*t is flavorless AF!!! It needs all the help that it can get. To top it off, they ask you if you want to add side garnishes of sour cream, shredded cheese, and diced red onions. Wait whaaat? What Creole place serves sour cream and shredded cheese as garnishes for their food? Is this a Mexican restaurant or naw? I was so f*cking confused. But after trying the food, I ended up asking for it. Did it help? Hell no. Nothing could have really saved this meal, especially that chicken Creole. 2 Stars because the staff was friendly and the decor was fun. But food-wise, this was a total fail. No disrespect to the business owners and the cooks, but their recipes need to be re-evaluated pronto. I don't know... maybe they were just having an "off" day. The ratings are high and they're still in business so somebody enjoys it. But based off of what I was served, I would not come back again.

Yelp
Maude keeps changing her responses. The original response to me and other negative reviews of what is truly mediocre food for anyone who has actually lived in NOLA were extraordinarily rude. She has now changed all responses to the 'cool cats' response below trying to come off as laid back etc. truly lame attitude and a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of yelp.

Evangeline E.

Yelp
Tried this out for the first time and wow! Very flavorful comfort food. Its basically like a chili/gumbo served over rice with a side of bread. Simple, yet delicious! Prices are pretty decent for how much food you get. The staff was super sweet and helpful! Very welcoming with fast service. They have indoor dining now that the Covid restrictions have lifted for anyone wondering. I'll certainly be back to try out other things on the menu!

Yelp
Ate here a month ago. My coworkers come here sometimes, so I decided to try it. I was craving traditional gumbo. I was disappointed reading the ingredients, bc it wasn't what I was looking for (shrimp/crab). Ended up getting bourbon red beans and rice, and I forget exactly, I think it was chicken creole. Bread was yum, red beans was meh, and the chicken creole was yuck! Not to mention I found several hairs in my dish. I ended up throwing the whole thing away. I wanted to love it, but it just was not good to me. The person at the register was nice and food was prompt. I will not be returning.

Yelp
I wish I could give 10 stars! Small, cozy, eclectic and 1000% yum!!! You know when you have great casserole, chili, gumbo type dishes, it has this creamy, slow cooked Grandma made goodness to it????? Well this was it! Can't wait to come back to make sure it wasn't honey moon good, lol! It definitely hit the slap yo mamma good category, tho! Keep it up Easy Creole!

Yelp
Stopped by during Berkeley Restaurant Week which saved us a few bucks on our plates. I got the veggie white bean chili and my boyfriend got the hot links and beans. They were both good enough. The cornbread was pretty yummy. Paired with beers from next door as we sat outside. Service was good and friendly.

Yelp
I am CONSTANTLY craving their chicken étouffée. I have looked for recipes to replicate it but can't seem to find the right mix of ingredients. Whatever is in this one, I love it. Perfect food for a cold day.

Yelp
Good food, solid portions, and reasonable pricing. The cornbread is ridiculously good also. Pretty fast service too. Got takeout here recently but have also eaten here before COVID, and the ambience is great. Super casual and fun tchotchkes everywhere.

Yelp
Chicken creole always hits the spot. I don't know what else to say except it feels like magic in every bite. Not to mention those baguettes I would order more for leftovers if it just kept well over time. Everything is sooo good. I did delivery with Doordash a bit before prime dinner hours and it took under 20 minutes to arrive at my doorstep - my craving was instantly satisfied and I was an extremely happy customer once again. Throwback: I do clearly remember my first visit here before the pandemic. I was a customer with many questions, but the staff were so very accommodating. They explained all the flavors and even offered samples for a few. I was impressed that they had a commitment to the community by serving meals free of charge to those who asked for the option. Also, I remember nearly finishing half of the creole before I got on the bus to go home - mind you, it was with the initial intention to just try a bite. The only thought that went through my head at the time was, I wish I discovered this place sooner!

Yelp
I've been craving good creole food for ages and found this place by accident. Great flavor and satisfying to the soul! The cornbread was the perfect balance of slightly sweet and savory, not dry by any means. The two friends that own this place are really nice and know their way around flavor. They also have vegetarian options if you don't really eat meat/seafood. PLEASE TRY THIS PLACE! YOUR TASTE BUDS WILL THANK YOU.

Yelp
I want to love this place. The food is great, the vibe is great. the dining room is FREEZING cold.. I guess I get hungry for it when it's a cold day, the the food delivers on the ability to warm you up, but it's a losing game when the dining room is so cold. =( Pro tip: Bring a puffer jacket
