A “Mix-In” Burger Bar Called Eat Brgz Is Opening in Capitol Hill in July - Eater DC

"A new fast-casual brand that bills itself as America’s first 'mix-in burger' bar is expected to open near Eastern Market in July. Eat Brgz will debut in a 1,600-square-foot space, complete with indoor and outdoor seating, at EastBanc Inc.’s new mixed-use project, dubbed 700 Penn (250 Seventh Street SE). Diners can customize their burgers by picking a core protein (100-percent black angus beef from Roseda Farms, chicken, or veggie) and an assortment of ingredients to cook into the patty. One Greek-styled burger in the works comes filled with feta cheese, kalamata olives, cucumber, sundried tomatoes, and a housemade Greek seasoning blend. Patties will be housed between bread from D.C.’s Lyon Bakery. Eat Brgz founder Brandon Gaynor is teaming up with industry vets Robert Kabakoff (formerly corporate executive chef at Houston’s Restaurant Group) and restaurateur Juan Martinez of Profitality, who helped build up the Nando’s Peri Peri brand. Their made-to-order customizable burgers (all under $10) come with dippers like tzatziki, queso, and mojo. Along with wine and beer, expect protein-packed milkshakes with fewer calories than traditional shakes. Eat Brgz’s interior is designed by Jon Siani and Aria Group (Dave & Buster’s, Pinstripes), with artwork by Brooklyn-based artist Phil Powers." - Tierney Plumb

Google
Went in on some late night #bigback vibes and they didn't disappoint. Order 4 infused burgers ( 2 basic, 1 Greek chicken, 1 Beef Mexico city), but any infused burgers can be made in chicken, beef, or vegan-friendly. Best of all they have a frozen margarita machine...and trust me, these aren't week and can be served as original or strawberry. Burgers are worth it!

Google
This place is as good as it gets for a burger joint, anywhere in the world. I give this place my highest rating and a wholehearted recommendation. The Memphis burger hits the spot with its onion infusion and pickled garnishes. The cajun Brussels sprouts provide just enough heat to know you don’t live too far up north. The ppl here are friendly, and work hard, and late too. As of this writing, in October 2022, this place is open until 11pm on a Friday night. Thanks, I’ll most definitely be back.

Google
Recommend the burgers but the fries were a miss. Good price point & definitely a signature flavor to the burgers. You have a choice of topping/seasoning for fries. The Garlic Parmesan we tried had a nice flavor but most of the fries were chewy and inedible unfortunately.

Google
Discovered this burger outlet around DC’s Eastern Market. We ordered the Wagyu Smash Burger (double patties) with fries. Burger is done well and juicy. Very enjoyable and worth a return

Google
Incredible ambiance and so many options, has a great frozen rose, strong but icy good for a hot day (or cold). The burgers are infused with a variety of ingredients. I had the Beef Korean, and the gochujang sauce gives it an amazing flavor. My friend had the Vegan Memphis, weirdly tastes like meet, has flavorful and different textures. Great spot, definitely worth the price.

Caroline S.

Google
Pretty solid fast food spot on Capitol Hill! Love all the different flavor options for the fries, chicken, and burgers. I got the mambo sauce nuggets and then were very good (so was the side of ranch dressing, not gonna lie). I got the garlic parm fries and my friend got the Cajun fries, I liked their fries better but but were very good!

Natalia Arce B.

Google
Great burger and Strawberry shake!! Just wish they offered fries already included with the burger. It was a bit much I think for the size of it and the items that the burger contained weren't really super gourmet to be just a burger sold. The seasoning was good but the lettuce was not fresh. I honestly read fresh ingredients on the website and looked at the price of the burger itself and I decided to proceed because of the "fresh ingredients" note. A little disappointed but over all. It was a good burger. Also, chose curbside pickup but apparently it isn't a service offered since after paying it said all orders for pick up had the clients go in and pick it up from inside the store.

Vonzell L.

Google
Burgers were ok. Cold carrots were put on my burger that was odd. I’d asked for plain, only cheese and bbq sauce but pickles onions rings and cold carrots were on anyway. My wife asked for plain and they out house sauce on. Fries were ok. Wouldn’t revisit

Yelp
So i use to come here a few years ago and get some burgers and they were great. A lot has changed, and for once it was for the better. Staff was extremely nice and super helpful, giving me great recommendations since i was touring the new menu. settled down with a corona beer, and then i was recommended the A5 wa gyu burger. decided to use the garlic aoli for the sauce instead and then the food came out, i was in shock. a big, juicy burger, cooked to perfection, and juicy as well! i don't even like onions but the onions on that burger was just too good not to eat. not too crunchy but not too soft, i could go on for days. i came on an empty day but the staff never skipped a single heartbeat making sure everything was clean and organized. music was a nice touch, nothing too crazy and also pretty modern and relaxing as well. 10/10? nah 1,000,000/10 would recommend!!

Yelp
One word: YUM! I was scared by their "infused" burgers, so decided to go for their classic cheeseburger. Amazingly tasty, and the two patty cheeseburger was more than a meal for me! Next time, since I'm used to Bay Area prices, I'll either take their $10.50 single patty cheeseburger or try out one of their "infused" burgers!

Yelp
Someone told me these were the best burgers in DC, and this place did not disappoint. Inside was clean and bright. I came for lunch and there was plenty of seating at the bar. If it weren't so hot today, this place also had a lovely patio. Happy hour started earlier on Friday which was a lovely surprise. Our bartender/manager was so friendly telling us all about the menu and how they're coming up on their one year anniversary. Burgers were delicious and the Brussels were an side. Will be coming back.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Pretty average. Not bad, but overpriced for what you get. I don't think I'll order from here again.

Devin J.

Yelp
Ordered ahead and food was ready upon arrival. Food was hot and delicious. I really enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the burger was solid. Will definitely return!

Yelp
This place is a great option for brunch. Great music, lively vibe and extremely friendly staff. The chicken and waffles tower with tater tots is a must and the candied bacon was amazing! I also highly recommend the chai latte with or without spirits. My only piece of feedback would be that they needed to provide larger plates for the entrees.

Yelp
I visited Eat Brgz for the second time yesterday 1/6/24. The second time around was just as amazing as the first. My family and I ordered the chicken and waffles tower and the normal chicken tenders tower. The waffles were hot, fresh, sweet, and buttery. The chicken tenders were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The breading was seasoned to perfection and the chicken was cooked just right. I could tell that the chicken was fresh and of high quality. The tenders were served with a variety of dipping sauces that complemented the flavor of the chicken perfectly. The spicy ranch, mumbo sauce, and garlic aioli sauces were my favorites. Also the FRIES!!! Them garlic parmesan fries and cajun fries were out of this world. I had to try the garlic parmesan brussel sprouts for the extra razzle dazzle. Absolute Perfection!!! Finally, the customer service was outstanding. The staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They made sure that we had everything we needed and that our experience was enjoyable from start to finish. Big shoutout to our waiter Meika. She was amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal with a fantastic atmosphere and top-notch customer service. Thank you TikTok for making me swing through. #EatGoodAndBeHappy #AreYouGonnaEatThat

Yelp
The food was good, but it was typical food. The service was great!' This was our first time going and our server was patient with us. We asked a bunch of questions. Danny, the manager was great!! He made the experience so much better because he was real and down to earth! We appreciated that about him! The ambiance was cute, the inside was kind of small. They are populate for their chicken and waffles tower, chicken tender tower, and their drink towers. Drinks are $13 per drink and they have $5 Mimosas, so You have options. Check them out!

Yelp
This place is awesome. Street parking. But not bad. Food was amazing. We got 2 burgers. One wagyu and one Korean bbq. Amazing. Juicy. Fresh. Also added chicken bites. Korean flavor. Real spicy real good Service quick and easy. Staff is so nice. Place is very clean. Def try this place if in dc.

Yelp
When visiting the Washington DC's, Eastern Market, we came upon this burger joint that had good reviews. It was a casual/ fast food style restaurant with very quick service. We had the Mexico City burger, the Basic BRG and the Greek. Out of all the burgers I think the Mexico City was the winner.
google avatar

Leese H.

Yelp
Got a standard burger and felt that it was a bit dry for my liking. My partner got an infused burger with bacon and it was way more juicy and delicious. Fries were one of the best I've had in a while. Would come back to try their other infused burgers.
google avatar

Tiara D.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this place. The burgers and fries were really good. I didn't get a cocktail but I can appreciate that it was an option. There are indoor and outdoor dining options & the ambiance was pretty cool. It was for sure a more upscale burger joint. The service was also great. We ate outside & staff came out to bring us our food and make sure our needs were met.
google avatar

Linda V.

Yelp
Upon entering the place was very inviting and most of all very clean looking. Lots of seating outdoor and inside as well. The food station behind the counter where they make the food was very organized and neat which I appreciated. The Brussel sprouts I've had before and it was good just like the last time, I got the Cajun flavored which were tasty. The Korean impossible burger was pretty good it had kimchi which had a wonderful flavor but not so much authentic, still good none the less and the patty itself was a nice size. The only issue I really had with it was the bread. It wasn't toasted and very thick for a burger bun, it gave more of a texture for a deli sandwich rather than a burger. I loved the ingredients and taste of the burger it was just the bun that could've been replaced with something better or at least toasted. None the less great food would come back again and try their frozen margaritas and frose that I saw was available behind the register, very intriguing!
google avatar

Kate B.

Yelp
My friend and I were able to get seated right away and the food was great! The Buffalo cauliflower bites were the right amount of kick and the ranch was the real good kind of ranch. I got the Korean burger and my friend got the basic burger, both were very good. We got the Cajun seasoning on the fries at the recommendation of our waitress, great choice! I had the rum punch to drink and it was yummy! All the food and drinks came out quickly. The only downside was there was a guy playing guitar, which it was really good and was playing awesome covers, it just made it sooo loud. There is nothing in the space to absorb sound. It's high ceilings and bare walls. Looks nice but terrible for sound. My friend and I basically had to yell at each other. It's a way to keep people to not staying too long though.
google avatar

Megha F.

Yelp
Love Eat Brgz! Love some burgers better than others, but they are all good and the portions are huge! You HAVE to get the Brussels sprouts too!!! They are top notch.
google avatar

Tish L.

Yelp
If you're craving a burger, def stop in to Eat Brgz. It's worth the hype. I really love how they mix in the ingredients of the burger into the meat. Fresh made to order. This burger was Def worth every cent spent. The flavors were meshed so well together. I got the basic brg and it did not disappoint. I paired it with an order of crispy garlic parm brussel sprouts and oh my goodness, chefs kiss! They also have vegan options that I'm sure are worth the try. The service was quick and the food was really delightful. It's def a cool spin to the classic hamburger. 12/10 would totally recommend.
google avatar

Jack C.

Yelp
Meh burger expensive for what it was. Shakes were the best part of the meal. Other nearby options might be better.
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
Service was amazing. Food was absolutely delicious. The store was very clean and well maintained. Would definitely recommend!

Trey S.

Yelp
I got the Korean burger. I'd say it was just OK. I expected a more "gourmet" type burger but this felt like a dressed-up fast food burger. The Wagyu burger might be more like what I was expecting, I'll get that next if I come back. Main criticism is that the burger was a bit dry and the toppings weren't anything special. The fries and sauces I got with them were pretty great though. I'd also say the price is on the high end of reasonable for the type of food they serve. I recommend it if you're nearby and in the mood for a burger but I wouldn't go out of your way to go here. They also have free WiFi which is awesome.
google avatar

Yelp
I was straight up in the mood for a burger. This "Modern" burger spot at Eastern Market popped up in my search. A quick scan of their menu, and I was off to fulfill my craving!! Yelp
Let me tell you something !!!!! This was the best damn burger I've had in YEARS The whole concept of the infused burger is absolutely genius. You can literally taste every flavor in every bite. It was cooked perfectly. It was incredibly juicy. Lol I took a bite and had to take a picture before I devoured it. The restaurant was very clean. The staff was very polite. Would 100000% recommend. The have chicken burgers as well if you don't eat red meat and plant based options as well.

Amanda P.

Yelp
The service is great, the employee noticed I didn't want relish but it was present in their burger sauce so they came back and offered other sauces. My burger was great, I got the classic with garlic aioli. Bacon was thick, meat was seasoned and cooked well. My boyfriend got the Memphis and it was alight not too amazing. Garlic Parm fries were good. Overall, I'd come back again!
google avatar

Bill C.

Yelp
Small little burger spot. They have special burgers with "infusions", not sure what that means. I ordered a basic burger without cheese, added mushrooms and the onion grilled not raw, fries and a coke. My wife got the seasonal salad with chicken. $42 was a bit steep. The burger was good but my "special order" confused them a bit. The burger came with cheese despite not wanting it. They need to just set it up like a pizza place. Order your burger and have toppings listed so you can add them. The small fries were large enough for my wife and I to share. She said her salad was good and it was quite large. Neither of us left hungry.
google avatar

Jessica G.

Yelp
I've wanted to try this place for so long! This location was really quiet and almost empty on a Saturday which was really nice. The man that took our order was so patient and answered all of our questions. I found the menu a little complicated but overall it had good options. I got the regular cheeseburger which was good but the specialty ones on the menu would've been better to order. They had more flavor and more fun toppings. I'm not sure which other ones I tired but one had mozzarella and another had chorizo and they were great. I also ordered a frozen margarita and it was so good! Surprisingly good size for the price and was definitely strong. Overall I liked this place and would definitely come back!

Pablo G.

Yelp
Food came out fast. The classic burger with avalado is great and so is the basic infused burger. Can't go wrong with a corona and classic margarita that they offer as well
google avatar

Yelp
After a 4 hour travel to D.C. I was starving. This location is conveniently located across the street from the Eastern Market metro. Since they had Cauliflower buns I decided I would stop here. There was only one couple in front of me in lime around 3p on a Monday. The man thing my order was so friendly and nice. The other employee who I saw was sitting at a table working on his laptop while there were dirty tables and trash lingering. As soon as we stared ordering he got up to make the food but I didn't see him wash his hands. I ordered a Build your own burger, regular fry (this could be split between 2 people), a Greek salad and a bottled blueberry soda. They do not currently have fountain drinks available. My order came up to $32 a bit pricey but I understood why. The burger was hearty and tasty I could only eat half along with the fries. I saved the Greek salad for later that day and couldn't ear it all either. My eyes were much bigger than my stomach. I would definitely visit again.
google avatar

Rodger S.

Yelp
We were disappointed in this restaurant. It was enjoyable to eat outside in the lively neighborhood near Eastern Market, but the food wasn't great. Our burgers didn't have much flavor. They also were overcooked. The French fries were dull.
google avatar

Nicole R.

Yelp
Might be the best burger I've ever had. So much flavor and juicy!! Don't sleep on their frozen marg... it'll getcha!!!
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
They always get my to go orders wrong. Items missing or wrong items every single time. Even when I specify exactly what I want. Nothing special just standard menu items they can't seem to make even when there are no other customers. You have to get a receipt and a copy of the menu when there is an order discrepancy or they will argue with you. Once I asked for the drink with the kids meal. I had to tell them it was on their menu. Should you ever be lucky enough to get the food you ordered, it's ok. May the odds be ever in your favor!
google avatar

Vicky B.

Yelp
From the cleanliness of the store to the attentive staff, this place gets a 10 out of 10 from me. The burgers babbyyy...top tier. I ordered a double cheeseburger (classic style) and if was delivered on a soft buttered bun with hot fries ( sold separately of course). My son had the Korean vegan burger which he said was flavored so nicely and very good. They bring you your own cold water carafe and two I've cold glasses to enjoy your drink. Will i come back ... ABSOLUTELY!! Great job!!!!
google avatar

Jayce M.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed in the western. The bun was ice cold and damp, the cheese had no melt, and something, maybe the pickles, tasted fishy. Only had a couple of bites. The fries were good and the portion was large. Definitely not worth $24.
google avatar

Gary G.

Yelp
Not many people during lunch when we went. Excellent friendly service, and clean dining experience.

Paul C.

Yelp
Amazingly ordinary, for a premium price. Food isn't bad, but nothing to write home about either. Met the need for something to eat, but should have been half the price.

Dara L.

Yelp
Delicious! Loved my wagyu burger, would definitely order it again! Yum yum yum yum yum

Yelp
This is in my top 5 burgers in DC. I think the burgers could be juicier sometimes. My last one was overcooked. But that's okay it's still delicious. I've ordered here several times and will continue to do so. Cooking the ingredients into the burger is a game changer.
google avatar

Steve A.

Yelp
Across from Eastern Market is this place for burgers. Eat BRGZ is casual and fun. It has many different combinations you can put together. Has beer. The other food includes fries and Brussels sprouts. Came in for a burger. It has an Impossible Burger that can be substituted in any of the styles. This is the same size and has the same amount of flavor too. It's $9 for a burger. This is kind of a lot. It's okay but it's still not worth that much, and it doesn't even come with a side like fries. This place is pretty okay. However the prices need to also be pretty okay and it's totally way off here. They have beer, which include local breweries among the big ones. Also there's some unusual food. They actually have Brussels sprouts. Amazingly these aren't bad. They're roasted and seasoned. I thought the burger tasted good. It's better than many vegan patties. The prices will keep me away though.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
Food is great the burger was even better had tons of flavor. Ate outside after the rain and I will say there outdoor seating is amazing because there's tons and great to bring your pups. Only bad thing was that they ran out of coke but perfectly fine I just ordered a different drink. 100% will come back when in D.C
google avatar

Amanda T.

Yelp
Service by Michael was superior! Caprese Burger was the best I have EVER had, 100% Pretzel bites were good as a side. Atmosphere was fun
google avatar

Rich G.

Yelp
So the owner contacted me after the review and asked me to contact him. I immediately did so by the email address that he provided. That was weeks ago and I have heard zero back. Maybe it's indicative of the issues I stated. Someone has been dropping the ball on the customer satisfaction aspect? Keeping at a three because I've seen this place do so much better before.

Jay D H.

Yelp
The burger was absolutely amazing! I must say, the only tiny issue I encountered was the fries being a tad bit soggy. But hey, would I come back here? Absolutely! I had such a great time and I definitely plan on returning.
google avatar

Soul S.

Yelp
I like the plant based burger. Mixing in the ingredients, onions, pickles, mushrooms etc... makes this burger better than the average.
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Solid burger place. I got the basic burger, and the flavors were very balanced. The burger meat is not the thickest but it is moist with peppers, onions, and bacon fat mixed into the patty. The meat is also caramelized really well and has a nice peppery taste. The bacon on the burger brings a nice saltiness the complement the tart pickled onions on top. Comes with a thousand island type sauce which I am a big fan of. The fries are crispy and seasoned well. Overall just a nicely balanced burger.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
I am not a big fan of ground beef, but I was craving a burger. When I tell you that this spot Baybeeee the BEST burger that I have ever had! (even though they forgot my bacon on top) I ordered through Ubereats. Sorry I don't have a picture of the burger, but this is what I got in/on it. The burger was seasoned to perfection. You have found yourself a forever customer.
google avatar

Jessica O.

Yelp
What I really liked about this place is knowing how the burger patties are made fresh to order. AND they have a self-ordering kiosk, but the guys are very nice to share recommendations. My sister and I shared a basic on a potato bread bun and a Memphis on kale salad. All for $20... in DC (which is definitely on the affordable end)!!!!! I also liked their space - both outdoors and indoors (which got a lot of the sunlight from their giant windows!) Also, we came hungry and left content and cleaned the sauces and food. So anyway, you order, and sit, and they'll bring it out to you! I really liked the sauces that came with both of these burgers. Solid flavors. Has a little water dispenser to get some water. The only thing I'd say is it woulda made it even better if the kale salad had a little more something - like a light vinaigrette and/or some small pieces of fruit/tomatoes? Happy to be a taste tester if you guys go for my idea!! Definitely worth checking out and definitely would return when in this area! PARKING: there are some residential parking near by or paid street parking. It's near Eastern market!! BATHROOM: didn't get to check it out
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Definitely a 5-star meal. Some of the best burgers we've had in all of DC, hands down. Nice and thick. Nice and juicy. The mix-ins with the beef, as well as the sauces, are unique and tasty additions. You can choose from one of their crafted burgers or create your own. Be sure to get a side of queso to dip your fries in (totally yum). Everything was packaged well for delivery. No leaks, spills, etc. And our order was accurate. Even the extra sauces we ordered were packaged and delivered. We'll definitely be getting burgers from here again.

Yelp
Soooo it was about 8pm, I had the taste for a burger, and I was glad I stumbled upon this spot in Eastern Market. So first, it has a cute outside patio area that, I'm sure, is a nice chill vibe. I walk in & am immediately like "Oh yes! It's so clean in here!". So when I walk down to read the menu, I said "choppings IN the meat?? Hmmm. This is getting interesting". So I ordered a make-your-own burger with a beef patty and a regular potato bun. My choppings were applewood smoked bacon, blue cheese, and caramelized onions. I picked basic (salt, pepper, garlic) seasoning and garlic aioli. The burgers come with lettuce and tomato added at the end (not chopped lol). I also added on a side of brussels sprouts & you have the option of 3 seasonings for those as well. I got garlic parmesan and they were so good. They were like perfectly crispy and the flavor was on point. Plus, you cant beat that for $5. Now for the burger, I definitely liked that the food is made to order but the actual patty lacked flavor. I couldn't really taste my add-ins or even the basic seasoning. Now don't get me wrong, it was okay... but just that. The garlic aioli definitely saved my burger.

Yelp
I needed some dinner after wandering the Eastern Market, and this was handy. And not crowded on a Saturday evening. And, it turns out, pretty darn good. I got their basic burger. Five Guys-style patty, meaty but not a lot of flavor in it, but with a good bun and good toppings (bacon, cheese, veggies, their sauce.) I got Brussels sprouts as my side, and you can select the flavor so I got cajun- a tiny bit of heat, a lot of flavor, and perfectly cooked. Maine Root drinks. Cozy fast-casual layout with tables and bars. Good service, reasonable price, very quick. I went in just hungry and wanting to fill up, and left quite happy and pleasantly surprised.
