E.A.T. Gifts

I don’t really post but felt the need to send a comment. I purchased some Easter candy that I thought was excessively priced. I asked to return it an hour after I bought it. Although it was not opened I was not allowed to return it. The candy was $26.50 which I realized was excessive when I left the store. I checked on line at some of the best chocolate shops in the city and the same item was HALF the price at most of them. I have never minded paying a premium to shop here but this is really excessive.

Sean and Laura are just the sweetest human beings. They go above and beyond. I highly recommend this store.

They have really good stuff, but owner is kind of arrogant and rude.

This place made me happy. I got so many great gifts for different people in my life! I recommend coming here before hosting a party or shopping here for last minute presents. There’s something for everyone - adorable and fun children’s toys, cool New York City themed items, as well as cute trinkets and laugh out loud gizmos. The staff was particularly helpful and friendly. A neighborhood gem!

I've been shopping here for close to 20 years, and every single time I've stepped foot in it's always been a pure joy and delight combing through all the neat stuff. Easily my favorite store in Manhattan and I hope to keep shopping here for decades to come.

Overpriced and not very original. Nice to walk around in, but the majority of their stuff is like buy once and then put it away to never look at it again. There are better ways to spend your money

Such a very FUN store!! I stop in here when I need small presents. There's something for everyone, including a kids' section. They change the inventory seasonally, so this time they had holiday-themed things. I bought a wine bottle ornament for an oenophile friend, a footed teacup labeled "tequila," for a friend who may or may not drink during Zoom meetings (one side of the cup is blank), and fun cocktail napkins. On previous trips I've bought a mirror that charges your phone (for my daughter), and a small lunch tote and matching wine bottle tote for a friend who loves picnics, among other things for other people. The selection is very well curated, the sales associates are pleasant, and the prices aren't terrible. It's perfect for small "hostess" gifts or gag gifts, when you don't have time to run all around town. These are mainly things that people wouldn't necessarily buy for themselves, but are wonderful gifts for others. They have soaps and candles, too.

E.A.T. Gifts I've passed E.A.T. Gifts many times and disregarded this place because it wasn't food. For some reason this day the window display and the door open and welcoming , drew me inside. I definitely was not disappointed! The employee behind the counter was welcoming and friendly. He was happy with my excitement over the huge selection of cool one of a kind items. This is a great place for gifts for my family and friends that have everything! I'm sure I could find something to add to their clutter. In addition to the items you don't need, but want to buy anyway, they have one of a kind practical items. There's socks, umbrellas, eye glasses, shopping bags and backpacks. I'm excited about the puzzle rack. I'm coming back to get one for my daughters birthday. There's kitchen items and toys too. I couldn't stop taking photos! There's so many items I just don't find any longer. I'm happy to spread the word about this store. Don't be afraid to go inside. It's a lot more spacious than it appears from the outside! I'm highly highly recommending!

I've been coming to E.A.T. since I was a child, and it's one of my favorite places on the Upper East Side. They always have such a fun and unusual selection of gifts and toys that has kept me entertained into adulthood. What truly makes E.A.T. special is Sean - he knows the stock back to front and is always happy to help you find the perfect gift. The kind of personal attention you receive shopping at E.A.T. is a rare thing. (P.S. There's also a chance of running into NYC celebrities here! Adds a bit of excitement to your Christmas shopping.)

Went back a few weeks ago hoping to get my kid his present, WOW WHAT A DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. I don't know if they fired this guy or what but the manager that day (Tracy or Tina I believe) was a RIOT and was so sweet and helpful, and she and the girls working seemed to be comfortable and happy, WAY unlike my first experience there. No demeaning screaming. I'm updating to two stars in hopes that whoever is making decisions at this establishment actually reads this cares about the behavior of their staff.

A quaint novelty gift shop for nearly all ages ranging from toys to stationery of greeting cards and writing journals. EAT Gifts is owned and operated by Zabar's, a family owned business. I would recommend EAT Gifts if one is seeking gifts for children or a teen but high priced. Children would not wish to depart from EAT Gifts. Seasonal decoration and gifts are also available. Staff is welcoming with warm greetings of a friendly smile. After meeting with an executive at Zabar's I was instructed to meet with another contact at EAT Gifts for a disappointing result of another closed opportunity door. There is one wooden bench outside of EAT Gifts though it is an open invitation for New Yorkers looking rather than patronizing.

What a great selection of unique gifts, I love this store. Customer service was outstanding, they are very knowledgeable of their products, will definitely be back!

Eli Zabar has officially gone off the deep end of desperation. This store is laughable. It's like walking into a 99 cent discount store with a random scattering of crap made in China. You know, the kind of stuff that you buy on impulse then throw away a year later because it's been in your kitchen drawer doing nothing. And as you toss it, you wonder why you bought it in the first place. And to be clear, I bought nothing here. 1000 square feet of useless toys and over-priced candy. Half the stuff has no prices and things are in absolutely no order. A weird deck of cards next to a wind up metal toy mouse next to an ugly serving dish next to a package of fake mustaches next to stale candy. Strange place that's totally unnecessary, unless they were located in Chinatown, which is where it belongs.

This place is fantastic! I was walking uptown and unexpectedly found this place. Wow! I know its listed as a toy store, but it is sooo much more. I am a grown adult, and I really realy enjoyed this place. The place is piled high with books, toys, stationery, key chains, bags, jewelery, mugs, utensils, plates, cards, stuffed animals. You name it, they have it! This is a great place to buy a gift. You will surely find inspiration here. This place is great for all ages. I even spotted some very adorable adult boxers! This place will bring you back to your childhood ;-)

I came to EAT gifts to purchase party favors for my daughter's birthday. I was a little worried I'd end up picking all the wrong gifts for a 9 year old. But the staff was extremely helpful, guiding me through their options and helping me settle on an adorable set of Dog pillows. My daughter and her friend loved it and can't stop talking about it to this day. Friendly, attentive staff, a great range of gifts and an overall satisfying experience. Would definitely recommend!!

Great assortment of oddities. Their items make awesome gifts/stocking stuffers!

Clever, varied, and mostly overpriced tchotchkes. Still, you WILL find a gift here for almost anyone. I love the interior, which feels like a high-end dollar store. Every nook and cranny is stuffed. You could spend an hour here and still miss things. The window display always draws me in, whether I have time or not. Minor complaints: * Too many items are not marked. This is so pervasive that it feels like a strategy to make you buy more. * Too many items have snarky and/or pseudo-retro slogans. Maybe the neighborhood is still into this meme, but it's a little tired. * The staff varies: One said a flat "Hi" and returned to his lunch. Another personally escorted me to a display and cheerfully demonstrated options I hadn't noticed. * The prices are inflated, a Zabar tradition. Although I'm willing to pay more for something unusual or hard-to-find, a box of paper straws should not cost $7.50.

Overpriced and nasty. They charged me DOUBLE what I would have paid anywhere else. I had a feeling I was being conned as I paid, felt like they tag-teamed to make up a price on the spot. They're also nasty, follow you around as if you're going to steal something. UNPLEASANT experience. I will NEVER go there again. I will NEVER dine or shop at any of the nasty EAT stores again.

Next door to the delicios deli, E.A.T. Gifts is a delightful gift store brimming with books, toys, knick knacks, and treasures all priced for sale on Madison Avenue. If you gave me $3000.00, I would have no trouble spending it here. There are gag gifts, purses, little journals, and numerous other goodies. This is my kind of store.

This store has all the lovely things, from home decor to stationery, holiday decoration, tableware, bags, purse...everything there is just adorable. I just love this store. They sell many stuff for children too. There many toys for kids, and also the plate, lunchbox, little spoons, forks and some books for them...ur kids gonna love this place.

Always fun items here, but I wanted to share that I think the staff is really great and friendly. I had the unfortunate incident of my daughter getting sick in the middle of their store one afternoon. I immediately left and notified an employee. I was mortified but obviously also worried about my baby and wanted to get her home as quickly as possible. I called the store to apologize and ask if there was anything I could do or anything that she ruined. The owner or manager (not sure which one he is, but he is there everyday) could not have been nicer. Not every small business in the area would have reacted so pleasantly. I had to share so hopefully people can feel good about supporting a friendly neighborhood spot!

A lot of things that you don't need but you want.. Lol
