Eat of Eden - Review - London - The Infatuation

"This place serves the largest single person combo platters we’ve ever seen. Seriously, they’re huge. And now you can get them delivered if you’re within six miles of their Clapham branch by clicking here. Alternatively, stop by for contactless collection. Plus, keep an eye out for their Lewisham and Brixton branches opening again soon. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I will share The Good, The Bad and The Ugly... I decided to order from Eat of Eden, having seen the long queues of people outside waiting for what I heard is a taste of the Caribbean in vegan form.. The Good- The ordering was easy through the Eat of Eden App. I decided to select some food items friends had recommended to me in the past. The Bad- I waited almost an hour for the food to arrive and when I realised it was not coming, I called the shop and spoke to a helpful assistant who said she would call me back. Half an hour later and a belly rumbling to high heaven, I decided to call back only to be told the food had not been sent... then the bell rings as the helpful assistant mentions a refund .......low and behold my food is at the door - Don’t know what happened there but my rumbling stomach gave a literal bello of glee that food was finally in eating distance. The Ugly- The food was cold, however as hungry as I was, I did not care about that much, my biggest disappointment was the fritters which were tasteless and oily.... I mean the pictures I uploaded does not do it justice! It looked like it had been dragged through an oil truck or 2 and my only thought while trying to chew on oil and fried dough was that it was healthy..... I think! I gave up in the end with a half rumbling stomach and a pile of inedible food. Will I go there again? Maybe if I want to convince myself I am eating healthy food but either way avoid the fritters unless you want to drown you mouth in oil.

I ordered The Eden Platter as I couldn’t limit myself to just 5 items from the menu. With the Eden Platter you can choose 7 items, so I went for the Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Curry, Chickpea Curry, Red Rice, Wheat Meat (Seitan), Macaroni Pie, Dumpling and Avocado & Olive Salad. You can order online and collect it in store but it doesn’t show the option for red rice online. Each one is delicious and filling! The chickpea curry was my favourite. If you visit or order online Mon-Weds in Sep, you’ll get 25% off too.

Visited yesterday with a friend who is gluten free. Staff member was lovely and had good knowledge of which dishes were safe for her to eat. All the dishes were delicious and cooked with care. And the mac no cheese was out of this world!

Flavoursome food that was worth the visit having travelled from West to South London. As a fussy eater, the choices were endless coupled with a 3 year old in tow, whose only way to describe his meal was 'delicious'. Have to mention the value for money.... especially where there was no scrimping with the ackee! Customer service impeccable and friendly. Setting clean and comfortable. Worth a visit, we will definitely be back.

Very tasty, very filling dishes!! My reason for 4 stars - we were confused as to how the restaurant ran, basically it's like (Nando's) you go to the till and make your order and pay. The food came in good time but it wasn't has hot as it should have been could have done with some heat and a serving spoon for the Platter. I'm not mad I will be back.

Drove past Eat of Eden and made my wife pull over so we could try their food and boy are we glad we did! Fantastic, hearty food, well priced and served with a smile. We had the pumpkin and sweet potato curry, with black rice and plantain and rainbow salad and it was scrumptious! The excellent portion size meant I could happily save some of it for my dinner later and get to enjoy it all over again. Will 100% be returning when I am in the area and will recommend to others. Great job guys - Keep up the good work and thank you for our amazing food!

Insanely delicious food, good portion sizes and excellent service. Great vegan menu with a neo Caribbean twist. This was my second visit and it just keeps getting better. I've been a vegan for three years, this had got to be one of the best places to eat. First visit, took a non-vegan friend who also never had Caribbean food. She absolutely loved it and vowed to return. Second visit food was even better, I lost my keys and the staff couldn't have done enough to help me find them. Fully recommend this place.
