Eat Tokyo G2 Shabu-Shabu

Service and staff are absolutely gems. Very friendly and helpful. Food is left to be desired in flavor and cooking compared to its other branches (and as authentic Japanese food). Otherwise it is perfect to satiate the hunger if hungry.

I absolutely do not reccomend this place and the manager who was working New Year's Eve. Not only did she refuse to help me, but she lied to me. I think they gave me less caviar by weight than was supposed to be in the sushi. I explained to her from the start that I wanted to buy just the caviar separately, but she told me that was impossible. Then I ordered one sushi from the menu. The manager asked me if I wanted it with rice, and I said no, just one sushi. I waited a long time for that order. In the end, they brought me the caviar separately, not the sushi (even though they'd previously said they couldn't sell it that way). But there was very little, and I think they lied to me, and there was less caviar than was supposed to be in even one sushi. It was important to me to buy this for New Year's, according to our traditions, and I explained this to the manager. Thank you for ruining my New Year's Eve. That woman shouldn't work there. Besides, the place is very cramped and the atmosphere is unpleasant. Those customers who were waiting for their orders stood at the door, although there were free chairs and tables in the cafe.

I want to review a restaurant and I cannot turn away from making a comment about the fact that they ask for a tip when they put the machine in front of me to pay my bill. As if the tip is now mandatory. As if a tip is not up to my discretion to give. As if they have some rights and expectations to my money. As if I would ever negotiate the price they have on the menu. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's unfortunate after such a lovely beef ramen they prepared for me. Appreciate that this bad mannered habit is done at many places in London nowadays. I'm just not having anymore.

Food: We had the all you can eat shabu shabu and sushi set for £29 and it is one of the best deals that you can have in London related to sushi and shabu shabu. The cuts of beef are a little inconsistent but a good broth, good sushi and a variety of food make up for it. Service: The service was really helpful throughout and were able to ensure that we got our food decently quickly most of the time. Atmosphere: we were sat in the back of the restaurant but from what I can tell from the front and people around us, that they were having a good time.

If you're craving Japanese-style buffets, this is the perfect spot for you. There's also another place called Eat Tokyo nearby, offering the same extensive menu as the regular Eat Tokyo. Both options are great for those looking to enjoy a variety of delicious Japanese dishes!

The food quality is good. So many varieties of food to choose from the menu for the buffet. The service from staffs is good but feels like there are a bit rushing. The meat slices are too thick and tough. If they are a lot thinner I would enjoy this meal even more.

Food quality is good, but service is a bit of a rude attitude when it comes to serving food. All you can eat is not properly advertised or I did not manage to see the note that if you wish to get all you can eat, indifferently if you want to eat the sushi they offer(limited range), everyone at the table needs to pay for the all you can eat option individually... Which is not a great idea if you have people that want to get different things but you wish to enjoy sushi. All you can eat selection is only for page 3- 6, and least to say all the interesting sushi and actually good one's are not included at all. Not right if you are looking for all you can eat for sushi

Great food, worth heading out of central London for great japanese food. Service a little slow but food compensates. Nice clean restaurant

My current favourite restaurant in London. Why you ask? Well it's close to my neighbourhood. I can almost always get a table - the most I have to wait has been about 5 minutes. The prices are reasonable. It's spacious. Service is wonderful. And most importantly the food is just great!!! I mean wholesome - great portions and Japanese food as you would want it. I have probably taken everyone I know here now, and the staff all recognise me - I want to give a big shout out to the Chinese lady in the pink kimono and black framed glasses who has the biggest smile - and the Chinese maths student from Bristol. Those two are great and always recognise me when I come in. I appreciate the reception. The other staff are awesome too. So for anyone new to Eat, they present you with a massive menu - I mean it could be the size of someone's thesis, so you have to carefully go through the menu and pick what you like. The bento boxes are great choices - great value for good food, I tend to get the £9 chicken Teri and salmon bento. But then there is so much more- the gyoza is awesome, the agadashi tofu - delish and my all time favourite (for all those aubergine lovers a must have) the nasu dengaku. Those are merely scratching the surface of the menu. The black cod is also to die for. There is so much more - it's just endless joy. Also note: This is Eat Tokyo that does Shabu Shabu. Yelp you need to remove Shabu Shabu from the title because it's just another Eat Tokyo in London like the rest of them. The only difference is that they do Shabu Shabu too.

A 4 person sashimi boat for £30??!!!? I can see why there are cooooonstant queues for this place. We lucked out when we arrived without a booking - only having to wait 10 minutes. We ordered a bunch of a la carte dishes (the pumpkin croquettes were delicious) along with the amazing value sashimi boat. Although the sashimi was fresh the cuts were a bit too thick and obviously weren't from grade A fish (whatever that means). Still, amazing value, especially for those with expandable stomachs.

I love this place! I don't come here for the shabu-shabu anymore, as I have discovered the joys of ordering from the massive 20-ish page menu while facing a painted Mt. Fuji wall and watching the cherry blossoms sway on the tv screen. have found many delicious items on that menu, so now my only problem is how to pick one. The yummy gyoza and sweet nasu dengaku aubergine so melty that you can even eat the skin, are usually part of my order. Hungry me goes for the beef gyu-don, which is easily enough for me for two meals and quite hearty, filling and yummy. Healthy me likes to get the salmon jyu, which is a big bowl of rice topped by a large number of delicious pieces of raw salmon. The raw salmon here is really fresh and tasty and I couldn't even eat half of the the rice. The black cod here is also delectable, and a little sweet in taste. I'm not that big on sweet food but I make an exception if it's really good. I have also tried the saba shio fish and the pumpkin croquettes and they were nice but not very memorable. And the bento! The bento deserve their own paragraph, as they are cheap, tasty and varied. A lot of them come with agedashi tofu, which is always yummy! I have tried the chicken teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, chicken katsu, maki roll, and combination salmon and chicken teriyaki bentos. My favourite is the salmon bento, which has a cooked salmon that is really lovely and soft. The chicken teriyaki is also good, although I didn't like the sushi bento which I found left me hungry and was more expensive. The maki rolls at this restaurant are kind of hit and miss, usually they don't impress me although I do love the salmon avocado temaki handroll with mayonnaise and the dragon roll isn't bad. Some of the bentos come with a sort of cold German-type potato salad for some reason, but it is quite decent tasting. About the shabu-shabu, to be honest, it's just ok, so even though it's in the name, I probably wouldn't be getting it with the endless menu of deliciousness offered here. The staff here is really nice and are always happy to refill my green tea. It is a popular restaurant with not much space to wait in during crowded mealtimes, which can be a little tricky when people are trying to go in and out, but you usually don't have to wait unless you're here for takeaway which can take around 15 min at least.

Went there for lunch over the holiday. My husband and I both decided to share the gyoza and have the sushi and sashimi platter. Service was prompt even though the restaurant was quite full. The gyoza were very fresh and nicely grilled. The platter contained some of the best sushi and sashimi I've ever had, so fresh and well cut. I want to go back to try the Japanese version of a hot pot as it looks interesting.

I have always been a fan of Eat Tokyo restaurants. As such,I am on a mission to try their every branch to compare the food and services. This branch is the Eat Tokyo G2 which specialises in shabu shabu a Japanses style of hotpot recently opened right next to Cafe Japan (which is currently undergoing refurbishments). I did not make a reservation and just walked in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Surprisingly it was not packed compared to Eat Tokyo G1, located a few doors down. For lunch I ordered Sushi & Sashimi Bento set for £12. It came with a miso soup. The sushi and sashimi were very fresh and at the right temperature. The sashimi were neatly cut and in the right thickness. The sushi were in appropriate sizes and ovally shaped. The deep fried tofu however, were too soft, if they were fried just a little longer, they would have been slightly more solid. Maybe that was just my tofu preference! They serve loose green tea leaves in pots. As I asked the waitress to refill my pot of green tea, I noticed that she added a little bit of tea leaves into my pot before adding hot water. Green tea does become thinner after the second brew. I must give credit to the management for instructing their staff to add more green tea leaves. A small gesture like that goes a long way! When I entered the ladies toilet, I was pleasantly surprised! They have the washlet Japanese toilets! If you have never been to Japan, it is worth visiting Eat Tokyo Shabu Shabu for the food and ahem...the washroom experience!

Eat Tokyo is a chain but this one seems to do hot pot too which is probably more popular in winter. But there's a constant queue there and we immediately found out why! You get a full boat of sashimi for £30! That's a bargain and the portions here are big and that's rare in Japanese restaurants. It's definitely not the most authentic Japanese restaurant and the staff there are mostly Chinese. You can see that they are more about high turnover and value for money which is good when you're going for quick meals but bare in mind if you go after 7 expect to wait over 20min We were lucky to get a seat in less than 10min on a Saturday without a booking but we saw the queue quickly build up. They have a good variety of starters so my advice is to not stuff yourself with tons on rice dishes but go a la carte! Oh and one more thing, they have those awesome washlet toilets in Japan :)

WORST EVER CUSTOMER SERVICE First walked into the restaurant and four waiters there but no one tells me what I should do but just leave me alone there. Then I walked into the restaurant and found an empty seat by myself. Fine. Then I sat there for five minutes and LOTS of waiters just passed me by and pretended I was invisible. That's absolutely rude. Then I went to talk to one of the waiters and asked why I received no service at all. She said they're extremely busy so blablabla, she didn't apologize or said they'll treat me immediately but tried to avoid taking responsibility. That's enough. The worst customer service I've seen in London and I can't believe it it's from a Japanese restaurant.

One of my go to places for Japanese food cravings after work in Golders Green. The menu is endless and they offer shabu shabu, ramen, and sushi. What more could you ask for? The lunch specials are worth it!

Some of my favorite ramen in London. Very authentic- which is the best kind. Make sure to get the gyoza as well, I'm absolutely obsessed with it. I always receive fast and friendly service. Don't miss this place if you're a fan of Japanese food

Went there with my friend to try the Shabu Shabu 2nd time. First time experience was good, but second time experience was a let down by the waiters customer service. The customer service was so bad that i don't even think he should be working there, as it is ruining the reputation of Eat Tokyo. We ordered the Shabu Shabu with extra's (eat as much as you want), and the waiter said "Can you finish?" In a rude manner not even smiling (felt like smacking him in the face). When we finished everything he came back and said "Do you want more?" In a rude manner again (should of shoved his head in the shabu shabu pot). My friend wanted to call the manager as she was so angry with the service, but i calmed her down. Normally we give a tip every time we go out and eat, but this service was so bad that it was the 1st time we didn't tip. Guess we better stick with Eat Tokyo round the corner, where the food and customer service is way better. The waiter was a young man prob in his mid twenties very appalling customer service, not sure who gave him the job, should be sacked or learn manners before applying for the job, he ruined our meal and our day... On the other hand, there is a older waiter who has a better customer service, if he was taking our order that day, that would make a big difference and probably would made our meal more enjoyable... My advice is either get rid of the young waiter or put him in the kitchen washing dishes as he shouldn't be taking orders with the bad/rude attitude...
