Small Japanese diner with no-frills decor serving sushi and bento boxes, plus sharing platters.
"It’s Saturday night, you haven’t made a booking anywhere, you’re seriously craving sushi, and you also kind of want to have enough money to get the Tube home. Eat Tokyo is your guy. With several locations dotted around London—Soho, Covent Garden, Hammersmith, Holborn, Golders Green, and our personal favourite Notting Hill—this casual spot serves reliable sushi at very reasonable prices. Make sure to get a classic salmon avocado roll and a “king dragon” (king prawn tempura), plus there’s an extensive menu of Japanese classics in case you’re craving some udon on the side." - rianne shlebak, jake missing
"You cannot get more no-nonsense than this Japanese mini-chain's spot right outside Notting Hill Gate station. It’s a fun, busy restaurant where you can get some tasty sushi at a very good price. You can see the chefs lined up in the kitchen, slicing fish, making rolls to order, and we’d suggest heading here when you’re in the mood to split some dragon rolls, hot udon, and prawn tempura. Or come for a solo sushi session with urumaki that’s under a tenner. " - Rianne Shlebak, Jake Oliver
"You cannot get more no-nonsense than this Japanese mini-chain's spot right outside Notting Hill Gate station. It’s a fun, busy restaurant where you can get some tasty sushi at a very good price, all in an hour (or under). The menu, which is lengthy to say the least, has everything from sashimi and udon, to katsu curry and bento boxes. You can see the chefs lined up in the kitchen, slicing fish, making rolls to order, and we’d suggest heading here when you’re in the mood to split some dragon rolls, hot udon, and prawn tempura. If you avoid the nigiri and sashimi, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the bill." - Rianne Shlebak
