The Best Affordable Restaurants in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Located on Canal and Broad near a very busy bus stop and the courthouse, this mini mart with a killer food counter is the cheap eats bomb. Spend less than $10 at Eat Well and indulge in an enormous banh mi made before your very eyes AND a cold drink. Plus, there are numerous daily plate specials, pho, steamed buns, ya-ka-mein, and the glorious “phoritto.”" - Beth D’Addono

Where to Find the Best Yak-A-Mein in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"A once lesser-known, now well-loved mini-mart located on Canal and Broad has a killer food counter known for its Vietnamese specialties like banh mi and pho. It serves a yak-a-mein with a dark brown broth that’s just as good (and a great value) with a somewhat notable distinction — a flat, linguine-shaped noodle." - Beth D’Addono

The Best Restaurants for Banh Mi in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"A once lesser-known, now well-loved mini mart located on Canal and Broad near a busy bus stop and the courthouse, Eat well is known for its Vietnamese specialties like yak-a-mein, pho, and of course, banh mi — and its affordability. Try the sweet Asian barbecue pork or the hot sausage with pate made at the store. Both come with just the right combination of cilantro, carrots, and cucumber on Hi-Do bread. Of course, ask for the spicy Sriracha aioli and jalepeños." - Eater Staff

Google
Fantastic service, lovely man working there who has been so kind and shared interesting stories! Their vegeterian pho was phenomenal, as well as their fresh and fried spring roll.

Nola

Google
À service counter in the back of a quick Mart. Several options available but this is not a full service restaurant so set your expectation. Older gentleman who helped me in the back of the shop was really nice and patient. Ordered nice with grilled pork and a grilled chicken Bahn Mi... Smaller portion and it is what the name says, nothing extra like in a restaurant. It seems to be popular with locals though, because several customers stopped in to get pho soup.

Malcolm Earhart

Google
Large convenience store with a Vietnamese kitchen. I was starving and went overboard by ordered a tofu bahn mi, pho and what was supposed to be pork spring rolls but ended up as shrimp summer rolls. While the tofu bahn mi was pretty good, overall everything was just ok. The broth wasn't that flavorful and was missing common spice notes. The summer rolls were just noodles and shrimp with peanut sauce. He got a chicken bahn MI and crab rangoon. He raved about the bahn mi, didn't hear much or try the ragoon. I'd come back for a bahn mi, as they're close.

Rachel Randolph

Google
This store is a rip off charged me $9.99 for a chicken wings only and wasn't worth it. Over charging me I been coming to this store for years back in 2013 and it was a lot better back then. I won't be coming here no more thank God I didn't eat them chicken wings. 😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝😝

Matt Black

Google
I the beef pho was delicious! I don’t normally eat soup when it’s hot but I was called to come here. It was everything I needed! Thankfully, the cashier/ server reminded me I needed a drink lol. The crab rangoons weren’t the best, but the pho made up for it.

Google
For the adventurous. A no frills, just good food within a food mart/ liquor store. We took a street car straight to this spot which added to the experience. Ordered a Shrimp PoBoy, Combo Yakamein and eggrolls. All were delicious and would highly recommend!

M Donohue

Google
Bring cash, there is a 3.5% surcharge for using cards. The yakamein was very good! The food is good there, prices are a bit high but not as high as in the French Quarter. The staff is friendly. It's a hole in the wall that I think Anthony Bourdain would have tried.

Julia Smith

Google
I have loved Eat-Well for years! Banh mi, pho, yaka mein galore. Very veggie friendly and cheap but delicious. Ask for foods spicy if you'd like but you can't go wrong here. [Tofu banh mi (spicy) and veggie yaka mein with tofu and egg. The workers are very sweet, treat them well! (Bring cash, or a surcharge is added for card. Dine in or take-out.)

Yelp
I like these kind of restaurants. The food was delicious and the service was great. The quality of food was also fantastic as well.Thank you

Yelp
They could keep the kitchen open past 6:30pm. The store is open later but come dinner time, the kitchen conveniently shuts down. Bummer.

Yelp
A convenient store with Vietnamese food. I was a bit wary about visiting but I've been in New Orleans a few days and I NEEDED Vietnamese food. My cravings were getting the best of me. I tried the nem nướng bánh mì and bun Bo hue. The bread is very light, fluffy, and airy. I like mine a bit more crunchy. The bánh mì needs MUCH more meat the break to stuffing ratio is a bit poor. The bun Bo hue was a bit too sweet but once I added the chili paste it was better -- broth needs more mắm ruốc. I was a bit hesitant to try this spot due to some of the reviews about it being unsanitary (on Google) or "dangerous". But honestly it was fine!!! Price is a bit high for convenient store food but I don't know what other local Vietnamese restaurants are charging either so cant adequately compare.

Yelp
Great food that can cleanse the soul. The Bahn Mi is on point. It is a hidden gem in NOLA.

Yelp
Eat-well Food Mart is a convenience store that also happens to serve Vietnamese food in the back. Located on the heart of Canal, it embodies the all cliche keywords: a hidden gem, a hole in the wall, a local favorite ... all in one package. There is no doubt if I lived nearby that I'd be going here all the time. Had it not been for the large window decals of "Vietnamese Pho" or "Banh Mi" I would have missed this place completely. There is little parking (beyond the street) to speak of and the area could be considered a bit sketch. All sorts of characters are coming in and out of here at all times. Inside the place looks like a convenience store found at any gas station but the real action is in the very back. Look for the food photos and the kitchen counters and one will find all sorts of goodness here. Order something and grab a seat out front where there are TVs playing. I had the pleasure of ordering for a group where we ordered several "regular" (aka dac biet) banh mi, summer rolls (goi cuon), fried dumplings, the infamous phoritto (pho cuon), finished with some a few Vietnamese iced coffees and sodas. It was around $70 for everything and because it was a convenience store, that meant other snacks were available and they accept credit card. We loved everything. The bread for the banh mi was airy and fluffy, which meant there were no cuts to the roof of the mouth. The dumplings were crispy and tasty and the summer roll was very average. The real surprise was the phoritto, which despite the gimmicky feel was actually exactly like pho in a wrap. The dipping broth was particularly excellent and the wrap was packed full of tasty ingredients (pho noodles, cilantro, onions, beef slices, and an *extra* egg). It was far and away the most expensive item at $9 but I don't know of too many Viet places (let alone convenience stores) that sell something like this. Lastly the husband and wife duo who own the joint deserve all the kudos. They were polite, extremely friendly to all who came in, and took the time to ensure my order was as close to perfect as can be. I hope that all of my future visits to NOLA will include a trip to this fantastic biz.

Yelp
Came here for yakimen dinner time since I saw this on Eater website. We ordered to go and got the banh bo hue, chicken pho, and beef pho, and yakimen. Coming from Southern California ive had my fair share of pho and I would say this is def not the best pho. Pass on the chicken and beef. The bun bo hue was awesome though. My mom loved it. So def get that. The yakimen tasted like.... Japanese shoyu sauce with sesame oil.... IMHO I don't know how it's supposed to taste, but I would pass on this next time too. Tl;dr get the bun bo hue

Yelp
Yes, the Bahn-mi and pho burrito were tasty, but we had to eat them at home because the area this market is located, is pretty bad. There were countless people shuffling up the stairs into the shop, pestering the coworkers and just making a scene. There was no toilet paper or soap in the bathroom so one of the guys behind the counter gave me a roll off the shelf so I could hand it to my partner. If you absolutely must have Vietnamese while in this area, yes the food was good, but the safety and sanitation of the area was undeniably questionable.

Yelp
Phoritto (noun) tortilla shell wrapped around essential pho ingredients. Also see: pho stuffed into a burrito [with dipping broth on the side] S#!+ just got so pho'king real. Y'all lemme tell you this baby is worth every ounce of hype. I did not think pho could get any better. Then BAM! I found it perfectly wrapped in a delicious tortilla. At first glance, I was skeptical. Why take two perfectly good things and mash them together? Why keep those tasty noodles out of their delicious broth and swaddle them in a flavorless tortilla? It sounds sticky, relatively flavorless, and a mouthful I'm not asking for nor did I consent to. Just a heads up, this spot is located in the back of a sketch looking corner store, but do not let that sway you. Head straight to the back of the shop, place your order then go pay at the cash register near the front. They have cold drinks in the cooler to grab too. & a small seating area inside with bottles of sriracha and hoisin sauce. Let me tell you- it was none of those things. Actually the opposite of those things. This spicy brisket phoritto was packed with flavor, moist (but not soggy), and had me begging pho more. I'm so sad it took me this long to stop by Eat-Well Mart. I won't make the mistake again.

Yelp
The food was super affordable and good, the service was fast, and it was overall a good place to drop in for lunch.

Yelp
This was the first time I have eaten food from Eat-well. My friend picked up some tofu rolls which I had never had before and they were absolutely delicious! It is a soft pancake texture filled with all sorts of goodies including grilled tofu, carrots, and cilantro.

Yelp
Tried the Yakamien at this place and it was not good. I had the Yakamein Lady's at the Tomato fest and was just thinking it

Yelp
I sincerely hope this small biz survives the 2020 quarantine because the taste of their boiled crawfish, combo yakamein and hot sausage on toast will be a huge loss to those looking for a delicious, reasonably priced, takeout mini mart close to downtown New Orleans. What I didn't know, that I now wish I had known was that delivery is offered within a one mile radius which means it is available for the VA Hospital, nearby Airbnbs and potentially a few hotels. Those who worked there were friendly and even suggested a few items worth trying on future visits which helped add to my list of recommended items above. I'd highly recommend giving them a try because it's some of the best takeout of its kind.

Yelp
Yes, there's magnificent pho in the back of this convenience store! Great for people watching. We ordered the veggie pho and tofu pho with veg egg rolls. Fabulous fabulous!!

Yelp
The phoritta (pho meat and the pho fixins wrapped up in a tortilla) with pho broth on the side for dipping is one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! I was not expecting it to be that good, but boy I was mistaken. Trying to explain how it tastes on this review doesn't do it justice-it just leaves me speechless. On top of that this place has hands down one of the best banh mi in NOLA! I had the grilled pork and had it made spicy. The pork with the sauce is as perfect as you get-a tender flavor bomb. The veggie fixins with the cilantro, carrots, etc was standard. The bread was a standout though, flakey, soft, buttery goodness that cradled the delicious food inside perfectly. It appeared to be a couple who ran the shop (husband at the cash register/store and the wife making the best food towards the back of the food mart). They also were taking all safety precautions against the virus, both wearing masks gloves and even the husband a face shield) I am writing this review my mouth is watering (thank goodness I have some leftovers)!

Yelp
Delicious and affordable! It's just a convenience store, so no frills, but you can totally enjoy your meal there if you don't mind the foot traffic. Totally charming.

Georgia R.

Yelp
This was the first time I have eaten food from Eat-well. My friend picked up some steamed buns with fried tofu. They were absolutely incredible! Very fresh tasting with healthy ingredients. The buns are soft and tender with shredded carrot, cilantro, and a creamy sauce folded over a large slice of fried tofu. Imagine flavorful spring rolls inside a tender bun. I am already addicted to this amazing dish and can't wait to try it again! I want to sample each of the other options one by one...

Yelp
This is a convenience store. So don't expect fancy service or the type of ambiance you'd get from a restaurant. There are people walking in and out of the store constantly and their TV is always on. At the back of the store is a counter where you can order Vietnamese food, poboys, and a few other things. And trust me, it is damn good. Combination banh mi - I'm not sure what makes this banh mi taste so much better than other places I've tried. But it is. They give the perfect amount of veggies and meat and the bread is perfectly toasted. Grilled pork banh mi - I didn't have the chance to try it, but my brother ordered it and he gave me a thumbs up when I asked about it. Shrimp poboy - On Vietnamese French bread, dressed with mayo, pickles, tomatoes, and lettuce. It's not super stuffed like other places, but it's also not skimpy on the shrimp like a few places. It's not my first choice when I come here, but it satisfies my cravings when I do order it. Phoritto - The hype is REAL. I saw a post about it on Facebook and bam! The next day, they're selling it at Eat Well, so I had to come try. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much when I ordered it. But wow! This is really good. It's filled with brisket, pho noodles, bean sprouts, basil, basically everything you'd put in pho, you'd find it in a phoritto. Pho wrapped in a tortilla and you might think it would lack flavor, but it's not. You've got to try it for yourself. Hurry! Because this is a limited item.

Yelp
Eat Well is a small Mid City corner store with great Vietnamese food. I have been here multiple times and never hesitate to stop by for some food. It is not located in the best area, but there is a parking lot in the back and adequate nearby street parking. Walking in, it's just like any other corner store but you walk to the back to order food. After you order, you pay at the front counter with one of the workers. The food items I have always gotten were their Pho Dac Biet, Brisket Phorrito, and Banh Mi Dac Biet. The food usually doesn't take too long to come out, but it's well worth the wait if it does end up taking long. I've eaten banh mi my whole life and I can confidently say that this is my favorite banh mi in the city! What makes this banh mi so special? This banh mi is still your traditional banh mi, but it features their special spicy aioli! I never would have expected it would be so good when the lady asked me if I wanted spicy aioli in my banh mi. I'm used to workers asking me if I want peppers in my banh mi or not, not spicy aioli! Everything just went so well together! Their banh mi comes in two different sizes, the 8" or 12." I usually opt for the 12" because I just can't get enough! The Phoritto was a secret menu item here 2 years ago and was the new food craze at that time in New Orleans. They finally made a sign for the phoritto for customers to order. You have the option of brisket, chicken or tofu with an option to add an egg for a dollar extra. During my last visit, I had a bowl of their Pho Dac Biet and a Brisket Phoritto altogether for one meal. I wanted to compare them side by side to see what I preferred. I definitely spoiled myself by eating them side by side, it was the best of both worlds! Both versions of Pho were good in their own way. Their pho broth was delicious and hearty, you can tell that they took their time to make it! For the phoritto, I liked adding sriracha and hoison to eat bite and taking a small sip of the side broth for the complete pho experience. It's a fun twist to the bowl of pho and everyone has to at least try it once! Overall, a great place to stop by for Vietnamese food! The prices are great and the workers will take care of you. The area is a bit sketchy, but it's well worth the visit! I need to stray away from my usual items and try the other great things on the menu!

Yelp
After a week full of Cajun/creole food, I was missing Asian food, specifically noodles!! I was a little skeptical of this place since it looked more like a convenience store, but it was actually pretty good. As per my usual, I ordered meatball pho since I am unoriginal. It was really good and came with the standard side of veggies/dressins. I didn't get a chance to try the phorrito but +10 for having it on the menu. My only gripe about this place is that ordering is a bit confusing. You see someone working the cash register at the front, but the food counter is in the back. There is no clear place to order, and there were people waiting around for their food which added to the confusion. You order with an employee and have the option to sit down and pick it up when they call out your order. ThEn you pay after you're done. Quite unusual but if they have that much trust in their customers, then good for them. It'd just be nice if they had a sign that said, "Order here."
google avatar

Yeashan R.

Yelp
This gem was hidden in plain sight it seems! We finally ordered here thanks to a pho craving we started having on our way back home from a trip out of state. They were open late and close to the house so why not? I think we ordered a tofu and a beef. As you may or may not know the first thing you judge a pho by is the broth. This one is so good! Definitely in our top 3. The accoutrements were the standard. Our request for medium beef and firm tofu were prepared without any push back. (Lately it's been a thing for places to refuse to serve us anything less than medium well when it comes to brisket, sadly.) The most important though is we ran in to traffic on the way back and they stayed after their closing to allow us to pick-up our order. That type of hospitality will never be forgotten. Officially our go to now for pho.

Yelp
My son and I decided to check out this store when we were in the area. Because it was Icy cold I wanted some pho. My son wanted a spring roll and we decided to share (2 rolls) and a huge Pho. Both the Pho and spring roll were very good. Well worth the stop.

Yelp
Being sooooooo close, as in NEXT DOOR close, to my most frequented nail salon; of course I've visited this eatery/quickie mart on several occasions. With each visit, I find the same level of customer service & product delivery... Yay!!!! #consistencyiskey I've eaten the Yetcamein here, French fries & the banh mi. Fair pricing. Food delivery is a little slow, but food is made to order & with one or two fry cooks, the lunch rush may not be a rush at all. Parking can be found in the rear of the building or on the street; you pick your poison, red or blue pill. I like that there are a variety of items for sale inclusive of but not limited to ICE CUPS!!!! Location is key & this place gets its right; corner of Broad & Canal, this is such a busy, busy spot. Way to go.

Yelp
For c-store food this is darn good. Very well-executed Vietnamese staples at a decent price. Cold beer in the cooler. Plenty of heat on request. Super nice people that make you feel very welcome and valued. I'm a repeat customer for sure. Would recommend to anybody. If namese is really closed, this is my new go-to.

Yelp
I went to nola on a budget and stayed at a hostel close to here and ended up getting food here most days! the food is very yummy and the prices are great I totally recommend!

Yelp
I have never been a fan of bahn mi ok? Like never. I was looking for a cheap lunch and on a whim and due to a good recommendation I went around the corner to this tiny corner market and got the original bbq pork bahn mi. Hot with sriracha aioli and holy cow... BEST. SANDWICH. OF. MY. LIFE. Do yourself a favor and grab lunch under $10 and crave this tasty Sammy for the rest of your days.

Yelp
Can't find better quality for the price. Known for their Pho, Banh Mi, and Pho-rito. Home of New Orleans' first Pho-rito. I must admit, the thought of a pho burrito didn't sound appetizing at first, but everyone that tried it said how great it tasted. After trying it, I became a believer. Although it doesn't taste exactly like Pho, it has a unique flavor of freshness in every bite. I love trying foods that I can't get anywhere else, so this was a delightful experience. You also cant go wrong ordering any of their shrimp dishes. I am a big fan of their grilled shrimp banh mi and grilled shrimp po-boys. Although the restaurant is also a corner-store there is an area dedicated to dining in. The environment may not be the fanciest but it's the perfect place to eat when you want to dine in without having to tip for being waited on. Food 5/5 Price 5/5 Environment 3/5 Experience 5/5

Yelp
Convenience store with a Vietnamese restaurant inside that also does traditional NOLA po boys along with banh mi and NOLA's own yaka mein (aka "old sober"). The chicken pho is a flavorful version in a a good size bowl that is not too small or too large. There is a dining area in the front with tables and chairs and then a lot of folks get things to go here. Prices are quite affordable for many things and a good value for what you get for some items and less so for others.

Yelp
MUST GET THE PHORITTO! It's not on the menu so make sure you ask for it. I was skeptical at first when I heard about it but I'm glad I tried it. I barely even used the broth that comes with it because it was already infused with great pho flavor. It also comes with a side of hosin sauce & sriracha. The phoritto has everything that would normally comes in a bowl of pho. Brisket, noodles, veggies such has bean sprouts, basil, and jalapenos. It was easy to eat and wasn't soggy like I had expected. Will be back for more! I also order a foot long banh mi (vietnamese poboy) and it was made with lots of flavor. A friend of mine recommended me to try it with their special aioli sauce and I did. It had the right amount of spiciness to it. My boyfriend tried it and he loved it! Probably the best we've had. This place is a convenient store with a few small tables if you decided to dine in. There is also parking behind the building which is a plus considering it is located on canal street. I'm ready to come back to try out their other items on the menu.

Yelp
This is a great little neighborHOOD food store that has all of the typical corner store supplies. You can get beer and lotto tickets, a decent selection of basic food and snack items. They also have the largest selection fortified wine beverages I have seen in a long time. But what makes this convenient store better than the rest is the selection at the hot food counter in the back. The menu has breakfast, po-boys, a selection of Asian cuisine, salads, sandwich wraps, and a daily hot plate special. Upon the recommendation of so many fellow yelpers, I had the Beef Pho and my partner had the Chicken Pho. Both soups had a very flavorful broth, a decent quantity of meat and noodles, plus a little sack of bean sprouts, jalapeno and basil all packed in individual containers to take home. I love the easy of getting hot pho on a cold day without trekking to the West Bank or the East. YAY!! I am a Fan!!

Yelp
One of the better places to get off the streetcar to get a quick bite. Friendly staff, really good food, cheap prices, good service! I have never been disappointed when I come here. A quickie lunch spot at its finest!

Yelp
BBH is amazing... I think about it in my sleep sometimes. Always friendly service and fresh food

Yelp
Good stuff! Took a risk and stopped in for a sammich. Grilled shrimp & onions on an 8 in loaf of french bread. Very tasty and fresh. Plus I learned that are at least 7 flavors of Mad Dog and that Boones Farm Wine is still being made (Strawberry Hill, even).

Yelp
Y'all why I order a veggie tofu pho and it came with only veggies and I paid 9 dollars for that. I had to pay an extra 2 dollars for tofu The broth smells like it has meat but the lady said it was veggie broth I'm upset

Yelp
This spot has been consistent for me, full disclosure I've only had the Chicken and Vegetarian Pho but they've always been good. Tasty, flavorful and well priced

Yelp
BEST BANH MI in town! This is an awesome grab and go place for some authentic vietnamese food! There's parking in the rear and a few tables to dine in if you'd like. It's not really the most glamorous place, but what do you expect from a convenient store? THE FOOD IS WORTH IT! The classic vietnamese Banh Mi will never let you down! The layers of favor packed this sandwich is ridiculous! It's smothered with their special aioli sauce, packed with THREE types of meat, and filled with cucumbers jalapeños, and pickled carrots! SO BOMB! The Spicy Beef Noodle Soup (Bun Bo Hue) isn't something I'd expect to order here but it's sooooo goood, def homemade. Not many places around town even offer it so this keeps me coming back every time! *NEW* Phorritto! Sure, you'd think what's pho without the broth? Def a new modern approach to pho and its worth the try. You can choose from spinach and flour wraps. The phorrito is stuffed with pho noodles, any meat (I prefer brisket), mint, and sprouts --- the broth flavoring balanced perfectly inside the wrap! If you're wanting the taste of pho on the go, this is it! Overall, If you haven't tried these great dishes, what are you waiting for? You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Yelp
I had the 8 inch Nem Nuong. Fast & polite service the sandwich was good too for $6. I will return to try the pho.

Yelp
Amazing Vietnamese fast food. Great go to place for the neighborhood. Their phorrito is the best!

Yelp
Been going here for years. Great place to pick up some quick pho on your lunch break. Eat there or take it to go.

Yelp
Excellent Bam Mi, a little pricey at $6.99 but worth it. Had the Chicken and BBQ Pork. Just warm up when you get home.

Yelp
While being a convenience store, in the back is a well kept secret. Get your Bahn Mi here. Or as friends dubbed it, vietnamese po boy. Fresh ingredients abound here on your sandwich, and you can get their food delivered through various phone applications. The steam buns are like tiny vietnamese tacos, filled with tasty goodness. I've had the regular, the shrimp and the pork. As far as the bahn mi is concerned, I've purchased every single one on the menu for my mardigras krewe for parading. Including a veggie one. The krewe was surprised at such a great and fresh sandwich to munch on while waiting to roll. I even made some new fans with this idea. I haven't stepped into the Pho or Noodle categories here, cause I'm pretty sold on the steam bun poboy options. One day I'll step into trying them. There are tables inside, but I usually get my food to go here, and enjoy it in a park, or at home. again, a well kept secret right here in the city try them.

Yelp
Hands down best pho on this side of the river (Mopho you're good too but this is ). It's very flavorful and quick. They have great banh mi too. P They have a pho-rito that I haven't tried yet, but my friends love it! This place is a wonderful gem in midcity and it makes me so happy

Yelp
I have been coming to Eat-Well since I moved to New Orleans 10 years ago. They have great fresh foods! Staff is terrific! My usual is the BanhMi poboy!

Yelp
The magic of New Orleans is such that you find amazing food in unlikely places. For example, you wander into the punk bar Siberia and find surprise Russian restaurant Kukhnya in the back. (GET THE BEET BURGER.) And I'm always hearing about gas stations that have THE BEST fried chicken that so-and-so has ever tasted. So, of course, the idea that Eat-well might be serving delicious Vietnamese food out of a corner deli does not stretch credibility too much. ...but the reality is that the food's just OK. Granted, I was super-hungry and ate the not-insubstantial amount of fried tofu that they heaped on my vermicelli and devoured the noodles and 1/4 cup of cucumber/veggie in short order. And yes, the price was slightly cheaper than you'd find at a traditional restaurant...but...you could also get your banh mi needs met somewhere that doesn't sell Mad Dog 20/20 and Eclipse gum?

Yelp
Why am I just finding out about this place? And who would have ever thought you could find good quality pho at a corner store? Their pork buns are are also very delicious. The staff is also very nice to me also. The woman always thanks me profusely for ordering and even helped to walk my order out to the car. Unlike most pho restaurants hey give you a to-go bowl and soup spoon. They also separate the broth from the meat and the veggies. That's a big deal because most restaurants just put everything in a styrofoam cup and give you regular silverware or they only separate the noodles. I love this place! I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped by here on our way to the airport after reading Yelp reviews.... park in the back, walk in and go to the back of the store to order your food. We went with two orders of beef pho, regular 12 inch bahn mi, spring roll and Vietnamese ice tea. Beef Pho - you can definitely taste the MSG in the broth.... can be overwhelming... so if you are not a fan of MSG, I would recommend you stay away from the dish. Spring Roll - it's not made fresh; as it tasted like it was made the day before and left overnight... and I can see this happening as they open early and closes at 8pm. - Bahn Mi - the best food amongst the food we ordered. I don't know if pickled radish is standard in bahn mi, but this place did not use radish in their bahn mi. There is a seating area by the from of the store... once you are done eating, go to the cashier and pay for your meal.

Yelp
I have gotten bahn mi from here previously, but today I was really craving pho and my usual options near my job were closed, so I called Eat-well to place my order for takeout pho. When I get pho to go, I always judge the restaurant on how well the meal is packaged. And Eat-well gets five stars in that area. A lot of places will give you the broth in the 32 oz plastic container that is taller than it is wide, and everything else in a styrofoam box that can't handle the heat, so you end up having to put the contents of your soup into the narrow plastic container to eat from. But Eat-well packed the noodles, veggies, and meat in a bowl that I could pour the hot broth into and eat from. I really appreciated that. The pho was delicious. I wish I had a bit more sriracha (my sauce container was mostly hoisin and a little bit of sriracha), but I enjoyed the meal nonetheless. Thank you for being open on a Monday and thank you for packaging my meal so carefully!

Yelp
Just tried their beef phoritto and it definitely met our expectations. My husband tried their beef pho and that was really good too! Definitely recommend trying this place!

Yelp
A true hidden gem in the city. The food is always outstanding (grab any of their rice plates) and always at a reasonable price. There is a great selection for everyone with a different taste (pho, rice plates, Bahn mi,etc) so you really can't of wrong!

Yelp
This place is definitely a hidden gem within Mid City. Hidden in a corner store, I used to pass by the place all the time. Until one day I was perusing Yelp for some good pho in Mid-City. And I've never looked back. They're never busy (maybe because it can be seen as a seedy convenience store, you don't really want to linger) and you have to go to the back of the store to order. But I don't mind the sketch when you taste the quality of their food. Now, I have been slightly obsessed lately with their pho. Chockful of ingredients, I was wonderfully surprised by how similar it was to my mom's delicious concoction the first time I tasted it. Rich and brothy, it was obvious it had been simmering overnight so the ingredients and flavors had plenty of time to marinate. They also gave me traditional Vietnamese herbs and plenty of bean sprouts. I also like the fact that they use the same hoisin sauce as we do at home. Best of all, you feel satisfied afterward and don't feel the need to drink lots of water since it's not laced with MSG. Their fried shrimp po-boy done Vietnamese style is also really really good. You don't get tons of shrimp, but the shrimp is perfectly fried. Plus it's a different flavor from the traditional po-boys so I'll get this when I want something different. Wasn't a fan of their bun bo hue. The meat was a little grisly and there wasn't enough noodles. Broth was deep and flavorful though. One star off because sometimes they're brisk and seem to be sick more often than not. And sometimes they will overcharge you for things. So check the register to see what they're ringing up.
