Echoes Cafe Review - Montrose - Houston - The Infatuation

"If you’ve ever gone dancing at Echoes and thought that it would be really cool if Echoes the nightclub was also Echoes the Mexican-Greek dinner and brunch cafe, then you should buy a lottery ticket ASAP. The opening of Echoes Cafe, in the same location as Echoes the club (you’ll get there) merges together two symbiotic activities: eating and dancing. Snack on some hummus, eggplant tempura, or a plate of pork souvlaki before thrashing to cosmic disco jams." - Chelsea Thomas

This is a very unique place. Greek & Mexican inspired dishes with a hipster vibe and good drinks. They also have beautiful artwork throughout the space. They're big on creating diverse experiences from art installations, live music, to providing one of a kind cocktails. It's really intimate, upstairs and downstairs, with a beautiful rooftop bar with ample patio seating. The staff are very friendly and down to earth.

Finally had the chance to visit Echoes, and the vibe absolutely lives up to the hype. The ambiance is immersive, the music is on point, and the overall concept behind the space is both creative and refreshing. That said, during peak hours the bar staff seemed overwhelmed. Drinks were high quality, but service lacked flow — a bit too many people behind the bar without clear direction or enough hands to keep up with demand. Still, the atmosphere was undeniably strong. Looking forward to coming back, trying the food, and seeing how they evolve.

ECHOES is one of my favorite spots in Houston. The vibe is intimate and stylish, with an energy that makes you want to stay all night. The cocktails are thoughtful and well-balanced, each one with its own personality, and the music is always on point. The music is always on point and I loved their themed nights where they pick a genre and run with it (Italo Disco night is a must). Whether you are starting your night or looking for a place to settle in, ECHOES delivers every time. The new burger on the menu goes bonkers. Simply incredible.

Casual bar with a nice patio on second floor. Live music on weekends. Overall chill vibe. Parking is across the street. The cocktails are mediocre and the service can take quite a while

Such a hidden gem! This small, intimate bar has the perfect vibe—cozy downstairs and a killer second-story patio that’s perfect for relaxing. The service was top-notch—Jamal went above and beyond and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back!

This spot is a hidden gem located off of Richmond! I'll definitely be back. It's a casual environment. You sit where you like and place your order at the bar. Once you place your order, they provide you with a table number. I visited early Saturday evening and was greeted by Erica. After I selected a table, I went to the bar and placed an order with her. While I was ordering my drink, she took the time to educate me on Greek wines. The timing of the food between my appetizer and entree was great. I didn't feel rushed and was able to enjoy each part of my meal. That night was a scheduled live band. However, I didn't stay. I'll definitely be back. Lastly, I'll touch on the location. The patio dining area overlooks Richmond Ave, so you'll see a lot of traffic but it didn't change my experience. Also, for anyone who needs to be mindful of smoking. Smoking on the patio is permitted. I prefer not to be around smoking. But the party with the smokers didn't join until about a half hour till my departure, so I didn't make a fuss about it. Overall, this restaurant is one worth giving a try.

Take it from a Greek - this is the best, most authentic gyro you can get anywhere in Houston! Love the atmosphere and their rotating cultural nights. I DJ here from time to time as well and the crowds are always fun and responsive to the music.

Aug-17: Trio of dips was decent with hot pita triangles but the melitzanosalata barely tasted of eggplant. Smoked eggplant tempura was a huge disappointment - the eggplant was not smoked, and just tasted like an Italian breaded and fried eggplant and this one had zero seasoning. We asked if the Branzino was the whole fish and were told yes it's the whole filet - our fault in not asking again if it was the whole fish - head and tail and all. It was just a filet. While it tasted great, for 39$ absolutely not. You can get a true whole Branzino at other places like Barcelona wine bar for 26$. The veggies (potatoes, spinach) were very good.

Yelp
A few friends had mentioned they were interested in trying out this restaurant/bar and since we couldn't find anyway to make a reservation online (nobody answered when we tried to call) we figured we'd just show up. Upon arrival, we noted this location has a parking lot across the street and there is limited street parking. It's also important to note it's on the second floor. The elevator was out of order so if you have someone who's handicap in your party I'd recommend calling in advance to ensure accessibility. We were able to sit immediately upon arrival, but elected to be outside as it's quite noisy inside and there was a live band setting up too. We figured we'd be unable to hear ourselves talk if we stayed inside. Food and Drink - 3.5* We chose the trio of dips and smoked eggplant tempura for appetizers. Both were good, but nothing overly impressive. For main dishes our party chose the ribeye tacos, souvlaki plate, and roasted shrimp pasta. We enjoyed each, but the ribeye tacos were notably the favorite. The drinks were all great, with the gin and tonics being the hits of the table. Service - 4.5* Since we sat out on the patio, there was far less people given the cooler temperatures, which led to a bit longer of a wait to get food or drink orders. That said, the bartender, who was doubling as our server, was attentive to our needs. He seemed incredibly busy given how much was going on inside. Cost - 4* Again, always subjective, but in my view the pricing here was a plus. All the dishes and drinks were priced well, nothing overtly exorbitant. Overall - 3.5* I'd put this at 3.5*, but with the drinks and service I'll give it the edge to 4*. I don't think we'd come here again just to eat unless it was for a quick bite, but it is worth a visit for drinks and live music if that's something you're looking for.

Yelp
My husband and I live close and decided to have a date night here the other evening. We wondered why we hadn't been before! We came right at the tail end of happy hour and ordered ourselves the three dip trio and two of their house cocktails. The service was great- all of the workers there were very kind. Shoutout the the manager, Nate, and Jackson. Everyone was so kind to us, the food was delicious and so were the drinks. We left before the live music at 9PM, but thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back again!

Yelp
Most people come here for the drinks, but the food is also really good. I've been for brunch and dinner. We've had the Echoes potatoes, the octopus, and the shrimp pasta. All were very tasty. And yes the drinks are good. This place is a vibe too. The rooftop is perfect. Will definitely return.

Yelp
So happy I ran across Echoes. A happy hour that goes until 7 with delicious craft cocktails and nice appetizers that have big portions and great quality. We got 4 drinks and the fries, dip trio, ands spanakopitas. I usually don't like smoky food but the red pepper walnut dip is my favorite. Fries were hot with a great garlic sauce. The spanakopita wasn't the best I've had but you get a lot for $9. For drinks we got the mother of pearl (real earthy, nice but wouldn't get again), the sensacional (my friend said was refreshing and strong), the La Carchaca (even better tequila drink my friend said) and the Take a walk on the wild cider (I love cinnamon. One of the better warm cocktails I've had). I look forward to coming back for the brunch and live entertainment late nights. Newly opened and I hope they are successful with a great second floor space with a patio and quaint inside. The servers were super cool and attentive too!

Yelp
Echoes is a Pink Floyd inspired rooftop patio restaurant and bar dedicated to exploring eclectic sounds and serving quality drinks and bites! I was so in love with the crisp King salmon! It was placed on a bed of quinoa and arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette that I legit could eat that everyday! The trio of dips were amazing! I'm a big eggplant fan so when I saw it had the melitzanosalata, I was besides myself! Paired with the pita?! 10/10 recommend! And of course we can't forget the spanakopita I love a good spinach feta moment. The chargrilled octopus was also the perfect touch! Finally, that orange almond cake was a perfect dessert to end the party I had going on in my mouth! No need to book the trip to Greece now that I found a spot with these delicious eats! The staff was extremely hospitable and made for an even better experience! Check them out IG: @neekxkitchen

Yelp
Echoes cafe has both amazing drinks and food. They made me an amazing gin drink that was extremely refreshing. We got a few appetizers to split and everything was good. Definitely a great place with lots of outdoor seating too.

Yelp
Man this place is awesome. Y'all stay away so I can get a table. Elana Vann of Quiote fame has an amazing cocktail program and the space itself is just amazing- big sliders open onto a balcony. Parking across the street. Menu is strong - eggplant tempura was great and the pork skewers too. The three dips are great. Live music started at 9 and was great.

Yelp
My friends and I have been here for brunch two times. We enjoyed the food and the great service!

Yelp
We finally tried Echoes and can't stop going back. The food, drinks and vibes are just spot on. The staff are super friendly and attentive. The gyro Thursday special is as close as being in Athens you can get. This spot should be a Montrose staple as it fits the neighborhood perfectly.
