5 Exciting Things To Do & Eat In LA Between September 7th-12th

"If your body is telling you to dance this weekend, you should probably listen to it. Echoplex is bringing back their popular dance party, Echo Flex, this Saturday, September 11th. It’s all 2000’s-era hip hop, so expect to hear a lot of Missy Elliott, 50 Cent, and T-Pain. RSVP and be one of the first 100 people to get free entry, otherwise you'll have to pay $10 at the door." - brant cox

Echoplex Review - Echo Park - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The Echoplex is where you come when you want to dance uncontrollably, belt along to your favorite throwbacks, and not get all dressed up to do so. This Echo Park classic specializes in themed dance parties, with events like ’90s R&B, Emo, and pop diva mashups. The crowd is usually pretty casual - you’ll see plenty of shorts and sneakers here, because when you’re dancing this hard, you need to support your arches." - Brant Cox

Attended the Fever333 demonstration here and it was such an amazing experience. The venue is pretty nice given the outside appearance. When you wait in line for the doors to open, you do so at the end of the alleyway, on the sidewalk. It can be challenging if the line extends long because there are port-o-potties that are frequented by the local homeless. So that can get a little busy. Once doors open, it’s an easy process to get into the venue. The staff outside and inside are all friendly. Prices for drinks are what you’d expect at a concert venue. Above average but they are good. Bathrooms are clean and neatly attended to. While it’s a cashless venue, you can tip the bathroom attendants with cash. They are very appreciative. All in all, I can’t wait to come back for future events!

Google
5/5 venue. kind of difficult to find it because they had us walk down to the ground level because the other spot is above road. but its a nice cool place inside, security is tight. free parking around the area just have to seek for them. they sell alcohol and have some seating inside, only if you get there early then you get the seats.

I enjoy visiting this small venue. I've had a chance to watch a couple of my favorite bands here, and it was a great time! The entrance is in the alley along Glendale Blvd. Parking is good. There's metered parking on the nearby street and a lot just a block east of the venue (on Lemoyne St), with mobile app payment availability. If you're lucky, you may snag a spot for free (after a specific time) along Glendale Blvd and near Echo Park Lake. I usually park in the paid lot since it doesn't cost much and it's lit. Upon entering the venue, security and walk-through detectors only take a few seconds. They check bags for content and size, so check the website for restrictions. The staff has also been chill for the most part. Inside, the space is small but spacious when it isn't packed. It's been comfortable when I've been here. The stage is average height, but people in the back still get a decent view. The sound overall is good. There are some muffled areas, but it is still enjoyable from anywhere. The inside ceiling support pillars block a little of the view in some places but also have shelves to rest your drinks on. If you need to sit, some VIP seats are on the front side, and benches along the back (left and right) walls. There are also two bar areas to quench your thirst. Inflated drink prices are expected with venues like this, and all transactions are cashless, so be sure to bring your cards. If merch is available, it's usually stationed along the back area. I am looking forward to more concerts here!

I had a great time seeing Gavin Turek at the Echoplex. It’s a nice smallish venue with good sound. There was no line for the bathroom or bar even though she packed the house. There are also good restaurants and street tacos in walking distance after the show.

Went to this venue to see a dj the night started calm. As the venue became more packed we got some drinks. Overall a pleasant experience with the exception of a random security guard trying to act tough. Amalia a manager there handled the situation professionally and put the out of line security guard in his place. She also apologized and said he was new and he was taken off the floor immediately.

Went to see The Halluci Nation at the Echoplex March 21, 2024. This is a very intimate venue. Only street parking is available, which can be tough to find no matter how early you arrive so wear good walking shoes. It can get stuffy inside if it’s a somewhat popular show you’re attending, so consider wearing layers. The night I attended, the women’s bathroom had an attendant. The bathroom stalls are very private and clean. The drinks are standard, but they also offer a variety of canned alcoholic options and a very small variety of convenient store type snacks. There’s an area outside for smoking and a raised area inside near the stage where they have some table seating but know it’s very limited. There’s some bench type seating along one side and there’s a nook area in the back by one of the bars that appears to have more bench seating but looks like they might use that area sometimes to sell merch. The sound for the show I attended was good and you can get a fairly good view of the stage from anywhere, even near the back bar.

Google
Went to a sold-out Wednesday night show. The security line was pretty quick. They had one walk-through metal detector and 3 wanders. Inside, there are two bars. One large bar in the back of the club and one bar on a side wall. There is bench seating along one wall if you get tired of standing. The sound system is GREAT!!! It was a Hiphop show with three mics being passed around to different performers all night, and they always sounded clear for everyone, which is rare for a Hiphop show. The one knock is that the sound booth is directly in the middle of the floor, which potentially could block parts of the stage if you stood behind it. Because of that, I would give a 4.5 rating.

If you love Reggae, ska, rocksteady and dub.. This is the club! I've been coming here for years and seen fantastic legendary reggae groups! I reccomend this spot.

Yelp
This has become one of my favorite venues! The sound is great when you're not in the back where the ceiling is lower. Parking sucks, but it's easy to find free street parking near in the neighborhoods if you're willing to walk 10 minutes and maybe up some hills. There's exits to the left and right of the stage. Also this location is not the venue off Sunset Blvd. It's off of Glendale Blvd.

Yelp
I am rating this location based on what purpose it appears to serve, which is to be an almost grimy, underground concert venue that serves alcohol and caters to the artsy alternative people who have moved to live in this area (many ostensibly from out of state). I rarely go to concerts, but I knew I had to make the journey to see my girl, Rachel Chinouriri. The information surrounding this event could have better handled, namely I was confused about where the Echoplex was, and why it was impossible to access it from the Echo, even though they appear to be the same building. I had to walk around a block and go under a bridge to find this venue. Thankfully I am a cis man with good GPS-guided navigation skills, but my goodness it is not ideal trying to get to a concert in the evening like that. Separately, I wish people had better concert etiquette. Please do not fill the deliberate path I have preserved for safe exit. And please do not block my view that I had curated for maybe half an hour by standing and adjusting my position in the same spot. People have no social tact these days, my goodness. Honestly, I was happy enough to be in this space with the singers, although I forgot to bring a mask and was super paranoid about catching some airborne virus (COVID isn't over folx!). I luckily was healthy still after leaving. I enjoyed the experience of live music. I enjoyed crying to Rachel Chinouriri pontificating about love. I enjoyed singing along to my favorite songs of hers ("Hills" and "Never Need Me"), the latter of which appears to be her most popular song as everyone was noticeably singing along to it. Would I return here for another concert? Maybe if one of my favorite acts performs here. But Rachel Chinouriri was a rare opportunity and I don't think I want to bother with trying to find parking (or driving in general) in Echo Park ever again.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere for a music venue. Saw the Bug Club back in October and had a killer time.

Yelp
Went for the first time this past Saturday and almost had a good experience except one of the female bartenders rudely snatched my card from my hands charged my card and proceeded to add her own tip then turned around and laughed about it .. I'm almost positive she was drunk .. never had anything like this happen .. I didn't make a big deal about it at the time but if this is the way your bartenders are treating people it will definitely catch up

Yelp
I came here tonight for the sold out event featuring former country now alternative female artist Taylor Acorn. The venue was packed, so much so that I couldnt even get to the merch stand to buy anything ! Parking was easy though and the show did start right on time . Coming back in a few weeks for another sold out show .

Yelp
Been a few times to see bands and always a good show at Echoplex.Service is decent. Drinks were good.
google avatar

Rose L.

Yelp
Why are there so many pillars and a low ceiling for large shows? The sound engineering was not good... difficult to hear even though the artist was fantastic himself. If you want to enjoy the show, you need to get there early to be able to secure a spot in the high-vaulted ceiling area. There is also weird flow so people kept walking back and forth during the show... super annoying and distracting. Also, make sure you get there early to find parking, as the area right near the entrance is a bit sketch.

Yelp
We were in area and saw that this venue was hosting a great artist that we both were happy and excited to see. Glad to grab the last few tickets before selling out. The service was great with each bartender that interacted with and even to bathroom lady with incense stick to keep the good vibes going. Even the security here had me feeling safe and welcomed. When passing through I almost left my jewelry and a staff member politely gave it back. If we see another event with the same staff we are most definitely coming back. Only thing that was not great was the entrance relocation, but little walk around the corner didn't mind.

Yelp
I always come here for the electric feels indie rock nights and they're always a banger Drinks I guess are on par with your standard economy inflated prices, but they make 'em pretty strong. Also, at least for the electric feels night cover is around $25, but it's always a great time tho and worth the trip here

Yelp
The echoplex is not a giant venue and they will cram as much people as they can. I've been coming to the echoplex for close to a decade. I love the neighborhood and I love this venue. You want to see an artist here and not make line? Arrive early. Drinks are a little bit overpriced. For one beer and one cocktail I paid thirty-two dollars. That's an exaggerated amount. The highlight of this venue is dub club. I enjoy reggae music and the MC's and Dj's they have here on Wednesday nights do a good job. Parking in this area is tricky, there's free parking all around but also lots behind the venue. The venue accepts cards only. Acoustically anywhere near the front is the best. Great place to visit and enjoy some live music.

Yelp
Great small venue that actually sounded great. Street parking was not a problem on a weekday night.

Yelp
Small venue, bathrooms clean. Had an awesome time sound was great. Los Amigos Invisibles are awesome!!!!

Yelp
idk why yall are hating i literally love this venue sm, staff is so friendly all the time

Yelp
It is a pretty cool venue. Very nice atmosphere and vibe. Everyone there is so nice.

Marcus J.

Yelp
my actual experience was good at this small concert venue however, the female bartender was extremely rude to my friend and I because my friend didn't leave a proper tip(my friend was under the influence and had a hard time with reading and using the machine, they don't read well) anyway, she was very rude and said something along the lines of thanks I'll remember that and really gave us a rude look and attitude which is unacceptable and unprofessional especially to someone having a hard time reading the card machine.

Khanh N.

Yelp
It's a small venue, fit for clubbing. We went there for a concert and had a great time. Most people tried to crowd the stage, but it's hard to get back to your spot if you need to go bathroom or get food/drink. We gave up and stood on the side, luckily the side had a raised area with some tables and chairs that you could enjoy and actually see the performance. They had hotdogs and sandwiches and some snacks, so we were happy we didn't starve. Overall I would go again.

Yelp
ECHOPLEX is a tiny club where people can dance and listen to music. It can be a bit difficult to locate because it's sometimes confused with its sister club, The Echo, but keep in mind that the Echoplex entrance is located in an alleyway off of Glendale, underneath The Echo. We arrived really early, and the neighborhood has terrible street parking. We managed to locate parking in a building two blocks away by Sunset. To go from Sunset to Glendale, you would have to descend the stairs from the bridge. It is tricky, as I mentioned! There is only one bar in the back of ECHOPLEX, but the restrooms are spotless and staffed. A drawback was that when we arrived, there was only one bartender, so it took a long for our drinks to arrive. They very definitely needed two servers! Their air conditioning and ventilation systems also require improvement. When everyone started dancing, it got really hot, and the club's air got even heavier from all the marijuana smoke.

Yelp
Does anyone have an actual number to call this place? I've tried the one listed but says it's disconnected...can anyone help?
google avatar

Austin H.

Yelp
Went here for a Sable Valley show. Honestly the location was super confusing to get to, and the surrounding area is pretty sketchy. Ended up lining up for the show in the alleyway. Was lucky to find parking near the venue, show up early or you risk parking in a rough area.
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
Was recently here for a watsky concert. The venue itself was fine. Everything was clean, nothing seemed out of sorts. Staff was generally pleasant. Parking: don't be fooled by them saying parking is easy or prevalent. It is not. It legitimately took us over an hour to find parking here. All of the lots were full, closed, or had a 2 hour limit. Street parking is nearly impossible. I recommend parking as close to the venue as possible, especially if you/your group consists of only women or solo traveler. The neighborhood was pretty rough. Crowd control/safety: there was no crowd control. They didn't care that people were blocking the exits or the bar closest to the stage. You had to push your way through to get outside to the patio if you wanted fresh air. These are also fire exits, so the fact they didn't even bother trying to keep the walkways clear was infuriating.
google avatar

Coumba T.

Yelp
This place is perfect for any concert! It's small and intimate so you feel like you're getting a great view of the artist from any point. Security was thorough and detailed in their checking of each individual. I would attend another concert here. The music carried through the room perfectly! Overall it was great. Tip: parking is behind this building. Some are paid parking but there's also free street parking if you get lucky.
google avatar

Mathew L.

Yelp
Confusing location. Park in Glendale blvd. Look for the reservoir tattoo studio on maps. The line usually starts at the door and it's down the alley way. You'll find your location, then find parking. Parking isn't that hard. Ppl are dramatic.

Tpwk Z.

Yelp
I had an amazing time.ambiance is great. The stage is in the smaller Corner so for concert events everyone will be crammed in that area which might be hard to see. I didn't have that problem cus it was a dj event buy regardless I loved it here . Dj was fantastic. One of the best. Drinks were unreasonably priced even for soda I paid 7$ hence the 4 stars .

Yelp
The echoplex, goodluck finding the entrance to this place, even the people working there don't know where the entrance is, or so we were told...... the place inside is very dark , 3 variety of alcoholic drinks expensive ..... Goodluck...
google avatar

Elisabeth D.

Yelp
The Echoplex is a dark and moody venue for live music. I must add- if you are not familiar with its set up there is an upstairs and a downstairs. It can be tricky to navigate and find your way into the lower floor as it is tucked away in an alleyway. The perks of the lower floor is an outdoor patio connected to it which is great for a quick smoke or hangout. The only downside that it is very dark and the room has a great depth to it. The upstairs is easier and more accessible by side walk and signage. It is less spacious then the lower floor but has a warmer, more inviting vibe ration to it.
google avatar

Ricky L.

Yelp
I love you guys. I do have some suggestions to make your place better. I had an awesome time when still corners performed there.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is on their lack of communication. I have called them at least 12x(the line is always busy), left two messages via their website contact form, and I even slid into their DM's and still nothing. Trying to get a few simple questions answered has proven to be very difficult when it shouldn't be. Makes me not even want to attend a show here.
google avatar

Jennifer D.

Yelp
Before I came here to see the Melvins in concert, I checked out the yelp reviews. (And I still got lost!) I think having a hard time finding parking turned me around. Once in the alleyway entrance, there was a good amount of security checking identification and searching patrons. The security also made rounds in the venue very often. I felt safe. The drinks and food prices were fair. The sound factor was ok. There are many dimensions in the layout of the auditorium so sound travel is off. My main complaint is that it was really hot. There were fans going but no air. I was a dripping mess. Not very sexy. Please get better air circulation.

Christian A.

Yelp
We went here to watch PREP Band for the third time in their 2022 Tour. I'm sad to say that Echoplex wasn't the best venue out of the three. Something was just off with the sound system and the guitar wouldn't work for the opening act (Wake the Wild). Seeing all this confusion unfold in the front of the stage. Prep was great as always and Wake the Wild did what they can without a guitar. Also, not sure what computer system is being used for the screen projection but those graphics were lagging. Also, parking wasn't that easy and it felt a bit dangerous walking around the block at the end of the show. Glad a taco place was near by (driving distance) to save the night.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here to see Don Carlos :) Reggae Concert. It's located right under the Echoplex sign it's the back entrance in an alley way. Security guards were friendly and helpful. We waited N line for about 35-40 mins. We went through a second group of S.guards with wands to pat us down to make sure we are straped or carrying anything harmful. Then U proceed in were they check U in. Now on through the double doors Which lead U right inside. Nice size stage and plenty of room but I'm sure it can get hella packed. It was full but not over crowded when we went. They have a few bar areas serving up some yummy drinks at reasonable prices. On reggae nights they have a smoking area so U may partake in some Marijuana/Cannabis. Great music and chill atmosphere. We had a wonderful time.

Dutcho C.

Yelp
I'm not sure about the food as I was here for a show, the service by the bartenders were awesome! And the ambiance is absolutely incredible.
google avatar

Belynda J.

Yelp
Good service. Dark and intimate for a good show. Parking is bonkers. Good luck. Only canned beverages (alcoholic or otherwise) available at the show I went to.
google avatar

Darragh L.

Yelp
I usually love the Echoplex but after my experience last night I cannot recommend this place. They were aware that people were actively stealing women's phones from their purses and basically shrugged their shoulders and said there was nothing they could do to prevent it or stop it. There were no signs warning people or anything. Do not come here if you want to keep your phone.

Yelp
This review is for emo nite! Best event for all the emo kids! Bring back some precious memories listening and screaming your lungs out to some Taking Back Sunday, My Chem, FOB, and more. There is always a guest appearance. Do not miss out! I have only been to emo nite three times, and this is what I have learned. Do not waste your time looking for parking. This is a busy area, so it is better to take an uber or Lyft before and after the event. Besides, the venue sells a lot of alcohol! Stay safe! If you do not get lucky with Early boy tickets, be prepared to wait at the venue maybe 7 pm latest because a lot of people will be there! I once went around 9 pm and did not get inside until maybe 12:30 am? The event starts at 9 and it ends at 2. Tickets at the door go for 20 dollars and I believe it is cash only. If you get lucky with early boy get it is around 45 dollars due to the service fees. Even with the long wait, it is well worth it!

Yelp
Came here for 143 on Halloween night and had a really good time! The music was awesome, crowds were pretty lit. Rich Brian randomly showed up and we got to be on stage with him for a bit lol. Only thing is that the line is crazy long (like up to 1-2 hours) and it can get pretty crowded inside. 143 is every last Thursday of the month. It's 21+ but I think they're changing it to 18+ now so idk if it will still be as fun LOL.... but I think from when I went last time, I'd say it's the best club experience I've had in SoCal. Only ran into like 1 or 2 crusty weirdos whew. My friends and I parked on the street like 2 blocks down and it was no problem. The area can be a bit sketchy because it's downtown so just make sure you don't leave any valuables in your car!
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Really a beautiful venue with great sound. Staff is very courteous and helpful. Good drinks and fairly priced especially when you consider the area, My wife is disabled and they were extremely accommodating in making a nice safe spot for her. However once they set up the roped off area security did not bother to patrol it at all. About half way through the show random people were moving the divider and standing in what was supposed to be the handicapped area. This would have been fine but a lot of these people were really rude and kept bumping into my wife's bad leg. If security had taken a little more care of this area and moved people back to in front of the divider this would be a 5 star review.
google avatar

Shayna G.

Yelp
Came here for Emo Nite. Parking is not great but there's a lot across the street with $20 parking. The security is ok upon entrance but didn't do much to break up a fight inside. The actual venue is really cool. There are two floors and a little outside area so you have multiple places to hangout and watch the different shows. The sound quality is good and the bar workers are friendly. Drinks aren't atrociously over priced like most LA establishments so that was refreshing. I had a great experience here and would def see another show here!

Andrew H.

Yelp
Just wanna give a shout-out to the bar staff who was absolutely crushing it during the very busy emo nite last night. Especially to this bartender in the picture who was working very fast to keep wait times low. Awesome job all around!!
google avatar

Senay K.

Yelp
Came here for an Eventbrite 2000s party which we RSVPed to for $10 all night. There was no line around 11pm so I asked the bouncer how many people were inside and he said 300 to 400. He lied. Which I'm so glad he did! Otherwise I wouldn't have gone in. It ended up being fun!! There weren't a ton of people there and the main stage sound quality was kind of uncomfortable. It was soooo loud and at some points screechy. We eventually moved to the porch outdoors which is the real gem at this club. The music was lit, it was cool temperature wise (outdoors), and there were dance circles. This closed around 1pm and then we moved back into the main stage. They had changed DJs so at this point the music was better. Heads up: shots are like $10, mixed drinks are $18. Pricey. Aka pregame hard. They do check bags I think and have metal detectors.
google avatar

Delilah S.

Yelp
Sister to The Echo, also my favorite! I've seen lots of cool artists down here, so far, Homeshake has been my favorite along with Cuco. I always seem to have the best time in Echo Park whenever I go to a show here. Definitely worth the trip. Area is really nice, too.
google avatar

Stefanny B.

Yelp
If you want to hear awesome Emo music this the place to come. They have this event once a month. Also on wed they have reggae , live performances. The drinks are not that good so I would suggest to get beer. It gets pack so it's pretty hot inside. There's always an entrance fee unless you make line before 10 sometimes , depends on the event it's free
google avatar

Gia T.

Yelp
This place is a definite five star for me. I've only been to the Echoplex once but I went for a 2000's Hip-Hop party and it was great. The music was great. They played all the great throwbacks and some great dance songs. The crowd was definitely feeling the music. The crowd is also great. The dress code is pretty casual. Girls could wear sneakers and jeans with a cute shirt. But really anything goes. I wore jeggings with heels and a crop top. Seriously ladies, you can wear anything. We got there at 10:00 PM sharp because it was $5 dollars before 10. There weren't too many people there and the space is big so it looked pretty empty. However, before we knew it, it was packed. Everyone was dancing. My friend and I eventually made our way to the stage and the venue was packed. The bathrooms generally don't get too crowded. They have this red wall where you can take great pictures. My friend and I took a few selfies and photos of each other. All in all, this place is great and I most likely will be coming here often.
google avatar

Yelp
Went to Echoplex most recently for Emo Nite. = P A R K I N G = We were able to find street parking rather easily just a short walk away, but we got lucky. Better to Uber if you can. = S E C U R I T Y = It was pretty lax, just a quick pat-down and a little bag check. = V E N U E = It's surprisingly huge! There's a large first floor with an outdoor patio, and a second floor with a stage and bar that leads out to another outdoor patio. Sound is decent and drink prices weren't bad. They had a special for PBR with an Emo Nite koozie for $5, but I don't think that's typical. Overall the venue helped to facilitate a great event! There were four stages we were able to walk between, which is great if you like your options.
google avatar

Franklin M.

Yelp
We came by to see Exhumed grind core heavy metal band on a Monday night and it was packed. The security guard at the door told everyone coming through to drink responsibly, I told him I took the bus to get here so no worries. The venue is spacious, good sound, good beer choices, and clean bathrooms. Great place to enjoy a night of heavy metal.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Great venue! I came to the Echoplex last month to see Hellogoodbye, and overall I had a positive experience! The venue itself was a good size, it's designed more towards an intimate setting. If you don't feel like standing, they have seats on the side! The staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, I had a great time and I look forward to more shows at the Echoplex. Side note: It's LA so parking can be a hassle, but there are parking garages and plenty of street parking around the area.

Yelp
I've been here twice, and both times were for 11am concerts (for kids) so I can't speak to how this is for other shows. But my son has had a blast here, as have my husband and myself, during the Rock & Roll Playhouse shows for kids. It seems clean enough, and the staff is nice. We love that they have beer on tap for these events. Parking can be tricky, but if you drive around you can eventually find some free street parking, might just be a bit of a trek to the venue.

Yelp
I need to contact the club ASAP but the phone number isn't working. Anyone have another number?? Thanks! It's important!

Yelp
I've been here 4 times, all for 143 events on the last Thursday of each month. The music at this club is usually pretty good and it can get crowded. I like how it has two floors so you get diff options for music and vibes. Compared to Mansion, Arena, Time, etc., 143 at Echoplex has probably had some of my best clubbing experiences due to the two floors and lit music. Security has never given me or my group a hard time either. It costs $10 to enter, cash only. A huge plus that my group and I were super close to Rich Brian during his surprise appearance on the night of Halloween in 2019!
