America's Bucket List Breakfast Sandwiches

"A goetta egg-and-cheese sandwich featuring in-house pressed loaf of braised pork and oats, sliced and fried, then served with egg and American cheese on a soft NCH Bakery bun—an earnest, regionally distinctive take on the sausage-egg-cheese formula." - Adam H. Callaghan

Eckerlin's Meats has a strong connection with Findlay Market and Cincinnati. It was established in the mid-1800s and is the source of the best goetta in town. Goetta is a German sausage-like dish unique to Cincinnati, made with pork and beef, pinhead oats and spices. Besides goetta, their selection of meats, sausages, bacon, and poultry is exceptional. Their new shop at Findlay is big and spacious, complete with a hot and cold sandwich shop. Eckerlin's is a stop on Riverside Food Tours 6 days a week. Our guests love the goetta, egg and cheese sandwich. The goetta is crispy on the outside and warm and flavorful on the inside. Out of all the meat and poultry shops at Findlay, this is the best!

Always love this place. Yesterday I cooked a pasta recipe I always cook, but this time using their Italian sausage. I could tell when crumbling it that the fat content was perfect and the aroma was great. The pasta was ten times better than when I normally make it. Today I went to the butcher looking for double cut bone in chops. The clerk asked the manager, who stopped what he was doing to cut three chops fresh for me. They were also substantially cheaper than another popular downtown butcher. The spacious new renovation has not diminished the quality at all, its peak

Come in for your fresh meats and order a sandwich if you need one! I stoped in early morning to notice the newly renovated space (as of 2025) before heading into Findlay market and had a great roast beef sandwich. Definitely keeping this one in mind for the future.

There is no better breakfast sandwich in Cincy than their Goetta Egg and Cheese! My husband and I love it here and it’s one of our first stops when we have out of town guests. Their butcher shop and team are also excellent.

my family and I have been going here for years. they make the best goetta around with a great flavor. the goetta is not too salty and not greasy. we also love the sausages, steaks and poultry. on every visit, we like to take home pin wheels. they are prepared steaks stuffed with cheese and mushrooms. they are so delicious cooked on a griddle or cast iron skillet. this year Eckerlin moved locations and added a meat tasting room. we're super excited about this and we tried it for the first time today. the burger was excellent and the fries were very well prepared. good beers on tap too.

Update: I want to thank and compliment the butcher staff on their knowledge and helpfulness (there's so much to choose from)! ----- Initial Review ----- New location, who dis? Of course it's Famous Eckerlin Meats. Still the best butcher in Cincinnati. I enjoyed the eating room in back - great service! My Sausage Egg & Cheese was the best I've ever had (and filling too). It seats a couple of dozen including at the bar, which has a nice selection. Also, there's a huge TV plus other ones.

Nice variety of meat. We stopped here for lunch while we were visiting the market from out of town. I ordered a burger with bacon. It was perfect for me, but for my husband who is twice my size, he needed more. The burger patty seemed a little bit dry, but the flavor was good.

Hidden gem for food, drinks, and beer! Bartender Harlod was very attentive, easy to talk too. Had good suggestions. Hot Mettwurst is a great deal. There's nowhere in the area you can have 7 people with brats and beers for under $60... One of the best brats I've had for sure!
