The Mission District’s Beauty Bar Has Closed | Eater SF

"Atop the Hyatt Regency San Francisco, I read that the rotating restaurant space—which stopped turning nearly two decades ago—will resume its rotation this week: the restaurant itself isn’t reopening, but the hotel has fixed the mechanism that allows it to turn, a select group of hotel customers can experience the turning restaurant space this week, and the hotel plans to host a reopening evening on May 1." - Lauren Saria

Basically a hotel bar/meeting area in the atrium of the Hyatt. Felt a bit echo-y and open. Not really a spot for a nice dinner. We had a very tasty meat and cheese platter. My old fashioned was good although did not have a cherry. The red wine my husband had was very uninteresting. The service was okay but somewhat spotty.

My wife and I had dinner at Eclipse on our last night. We wanted to stay close and nothing is more convenient than a restaurant at your own hotel. We were so happy we did!Food was absolutely delicious. Honestly, one of our favorite meals in SF. I had a steak with mushrooms , mashed potatoes, veggies, and a delicious sauce. The steak was a great portion and cooked perfectly . Wife had the chicken sliders, which were so tender and flavorful. I would agree it's a little pricey, but the food was so good. Oh, and the passion fruit cheesecake is a must!!! It's legit a top 3 desert I've ever had, and I'm a desert guy all dayyyyy.

If you are staying here, I recommend eating inside if you aren't looking to go out to eat and want to stay nearby. It is a bit pricey but the food is delicious, as well as the drinks. The waiter was very courteous. The only thing is maybe they only have one waiter at night and that took some time to get our orders.

Google
Restaurant inside the Hyatt Regency in Embarcadero 5. Food is pricey, but delicious. Staff are amazing!! Best customer service BY FAR for any restaurants in the city. Wine list is limited but there are plenty of cocktails to choose from. I had fish tacos which were light and crisp with fresh avocado and salsa. I also had the passion fruit cheesecake topped with fresh berries which was beautiful and delicious. The restaurant seating is comfortable and the beautiful lobby setting made this a perfect meal. Will definitely be back!! Back for another work trip and happy to report that food is still amazing and service continues to be excellent.

Erika B was our server. She was amazing. The food was as desired, prompt, and tasty. Environment is lovely. We sat talking endlessly because we were well taken care of, had great food, accompanied with smiling attentive service. I'd recommend!😘😘😘😘

Seriously why would you so many great options on your doorstep why go here Partner insisted it was on site so easier to use Starter and main brought out at same time queried with server who shrugged then waiter came to ask if ok said no he said ok Only if not wanting to go out please don’t use The attitude was why are you eating here you get what you deserve

Google
Super friendly staff and great food! I only stopped in for a few munchies but all were great! There were a ton of fries in the truffle fries dish, the cheese fondue was super delicious as well, not as thick in consistency as I’m used to for fondues but still lovely.

Google
The bar menu was limited but we found something for everyone. Potsticker for appetizer, clam chowder in bread bowl and ceaser salad.

Yelp
Okay 5 stars for Roger & the margaritas! I asked for Blanco tequila, simple syrup & lime juice over. And I got it! You'd be amazed at bars that say ok & bring nonsense. Its gorgeous inside here lots of TVs to watch games. Roger was an excellent server! I dinged one star for the female that seemed to not want to serve our multi cultural table. Who knows, she was grumpy.

Yelp
Eh I'm split here. We came here since we had credit through the destination fee of staying in the hotel. The ambiance was great. The interior of the hotel is really nice and this building is huge. Some really neat seating choices too. Service was a complete miss and what is the main reason of the lower star review. Dropped by around 5:30pm during happy hour. Beer was $8, wine was $10. There were two waitresses on the floor. Neither really acknowledged us when we walked over so we sat ourselves down. It wasn't busy at all when we came. Only another 1-2 tables maybe. We were brought waters and menus within several minutes of sitting down. But then we were stuck trying to place our order for what felt like forever because our waitress was nonstop chatting with the staff behind the bar. We made eye contact with one of them and were still ignored. I honestly was close to leaving. It was a ridiculous wait. When she finally came back, we got the fried brussel sprouts to split and some drinks. It was one of the few only vegan options that wasn't a salad. Honestly, the brussel sprouts blew our minds. We weren't expecting much but they were really delicious. Larger portion size than expected with a fantastic yuzu dressing. I wish there were more whole brussel sprouts rather than the shredded leaves. If it weren't for the poor service, this review would be much higher for just the brussel sprouts alone.

Yelp
stopped at this bar two nights while staying at the Hyatt. tried the food and the truffle fries were good. The wings were not very crispy. While the servers are very polite, there is a clear under staffing for this kitchen and bar.

Yelp
The Hyatt is a beautiful hotel and truly a must stay in San Francisco. Whenever I'm there, I always make a point to stop by Eclipse Kitchen & Bar, it's a great spot right inside the hotel. I especially enjoy their cocktails, and they make an excellent lemon drop, definitely my favorite! When it's not too busy, the service is quick and friendly. On my most recent visit, I tried the crab cakes, which come with a side salad. The dish was light, fresh, and very enjoyable. If you're staying at the Hyatt, I highly recommend checking it out. It's also a nice spot for a late-night drink on the weekends. Worth trying at least once during your stay!

Yelp
The average score here pretty much sums it up. Average. It's a cool setting within a hotel. I'll give it that. Very unique compared to other hotel sitting experiences. Staff was friendly. Especially as one night it was a crazy conference and they definitely had a lot on their plate. Food was just ok. Chicken wings were tasty but I don't think I have ever seen small wings. Feel like they could have used better more robust chickens. Not baby wings. Also had the chicken sliders. Those were not so great. Super bready and a bit lacking. A bit disappointing. Wish they had a better beer selection on draft. Lastly the dessert, I had the cheese cake. That too was ok, but ultimately just average. Nothing special imo.

Yelp
Beautiful place and nice menu, but all the waiters hang out and talk to each other at their computer station when you want food and your cocktails are empty. Maybe sit at the bar where it's easier to get service.
google avatar

Yelp
This is such a smooth and classy bar inside the Hyatt hotel. It's dark yet vibrant. Drinks are too cool for school. Met a colleague for drinks and we had great conversation and in beautiful environment. Our waiter Roger was too kind and gracious.

Donnie G.

Yelp
Janky little hotel restaurant. Horrible servers and mid food. They will stand there without greeting you for 10+ minutes then proceed to treat you like a dog when you want basic items like silverware. Don't come here, you certainly will regret it

Yelp
I have a soft spot for Hyatt hotel restaurants and the Eclipse Kitchen and Bar is no exception. As with the other hotel staff I fou d the servers here to be genuinely nice people who while short staffed did everything they could to take of me while I was there. The waitress we had was very nice and attentive. She was sympathetic to my friend and my rough dinner night and did what she could to make it better. The food was good. I didn't eat at dinner, but I did go there for breakfast. I drank at dinner time and the Moscow mules were perfect. Bright, citrusy, ginger beer goodness with a balance of vodka. I think the breakfast buffet is a bit pricey for what is served but it is solid. I imagine it is a great value if you're eating multiple rounds but for me I eat a plate and then I am full so I never get the buffet value. Yet, it was solid. As I mentioned in the overall Hyatt review the seating is wonderful. There's so much of it that you're not contained if you don't want to be. I am fond of their little enclosed booths because I felt extra fancy. It was a delight.
google avatar

Jenn V.

Yelp
No variety in menu. Food low quality. The ambiance in the hotel was great but food was tasteless
google avatar

Cheryl K.

Yelp
I ate here because I was tired after a long day and it was the only dining establishment in the hotel. I had a nice big chicken Caesar salad.

Yelp
The stars are honestly for the atmosphere & environment alone! Everywhere you look there's some type of cool architecture or visual illusion that'll make your mouth drop open. Try not to bump into anyone while you're looking up. It's very hard not to! The food smells so good while you're waiting around to be seated. It was quite a long wait even though reservations were made in advance. We had a group of about 10 people so they had to find two tables that could be pushed close-ish together. Service was a little slow. I don't know if it's because we had so many orders (which was really a smorgasbord of appetizers) or if it was a busy night for them. Either way, expect a wait. We got so many things to sample! The spicy Thai chicken wings were deliciously saucy, the fondue was perfectly cheesy and tasty (the pretzel bites not so much), the truffle fries were to die for, and the fried shrimp were huge and crispy. I don't think I took enough pictures but definitely order those off the menu! I had an Arnold Palmer to drink that looked like lemonade but tasted pretty much like water. Disappointing. Especially since it also took a while to be made. Literally got it after all the food had been passed out. All in all, the food was pretty good. Service could use some work. And the ambience was killer. Again, I'd be back just to stare at everything!

Yelp
There are many places to get a late afternoon drink at this part of Market Street near the Embarcadero. Most are crowded, noisy and quite unpleasant unless you're into tightly packed 'happy hour' venues with lots of over hyper office workers and out of towners. The eclipse bar is a nice sophisticated option for a good drink and the ability to have decent conversation without yelling. It is pricey as a drink can run more than $20. but what would you expect from a hotel in a downtown big city environment. Having a drink here was quite pleasant, especially with the enormous atrium lobby looming above you. The wait staff/bartenders are very friendly and professional. So a good spot for that drink you may need in a more tranquil setting than a packed bar.

Yelp
Great bar. It is nice that it is not too packed in the hotel so the bar is not overcrowded. Drinks and food come fast. The menu is very limited but everyone in my group was able to find something yummy to eat and drink. The wine by the glass is very overpriced but tastes great. My favorite part of this place is just the ambiance. We also went to their Brunch buffet. It's expensive but there is a huge variety of breakfast and brunch options to choose from and they were all delicious. I loved the selection of fresh fruit too. I definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
We stopped by here for some drinks before checking into our hotel room. Also made another stop here for some wine as we received some drink cards due to our room not being ready yet. The drinks were strong and came in a heavy pour --so great value in that. Also, loved the ambiance of the space as it's in lobby of the Hyatt Regency. Good bar to hang around to pass some time. Note: Happy hour is $2 off beer, wine, and well drinks; so comes out to $7 a drink --not too shabby.

Yelp
Eclipse Kitchen is the main sit-down restaurant located on the Atrium of the Hyatt Regency. Its right next to the market and bar area. We came here for breakfast before checking out. Methinks this place offers up some of the most expensive oatmeal and yogurt parfait in the city, at about $12 each. Fortunately, the quality of both are good and portions reasonable. Steel Cut Oatmeals were creamy, and served with lots of sides: brown sugar, nuts, fresh fruit, and raisins. Much better than Bluestone Lane and Starbucks. They were generous with fresh slices of banana, blackberries, strawberries, and blueberries. In a city where $8 Avocado Toast is common, a $12 healthy oatmeal is not too bad. Similarly, I enjoyed the yogurt parfait with granola and fresh fruit. It was served in alternating layers of yogurt and toppings in a beer glass, like a traditional English Trifle dessert, only healthier! Again, $12 seems outrageous but then again, so is $8 Avocado Toast!

Yelp
Eclipse is located in the Hyatt Regency where we were staying. The Clam Chowder in a sourdough bowl was excellent! I asked if it would be canned and the server said it would be made fresh and it was. My husband ordered the Tofu Curry with rice and loved it. As for the service, the gentleman who brought out out food was very kind. Server was very monotone but maybe she was having a bad day. The manager also stopped by in the beginning to make sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was very nice. They have a beautiful waterfall and some interesting seating where you have a little privacy.
google avatar

Yelp
Really lovely bar at the Hyatt Regency hotel. They have happy hour until 5:30 pm. I had a nice Girsen sauv blanc while sitting at the bar. Beautiful atmosphere and comfortable seating.
google avatar

Yelp
It's a very very slow bar. And the servers are very inconsistent with their service. Some are fast and some are very very slow. If you get stuck with the slow ones, it takes 20 minutes for a drink when another bartender gives it in less than a minute for a simple pour
google avatar

Yelp
I have definitely been here before. I also used to work for Hyatt so I know how the back of the house works. We were sat and ordered cocktails and lite snacks. I had a glass of prosecco and we shared the caesar salad and the truffle fries that was served with aioli. The pot stickers ordered were a bit late. The server was helpful and snow periodically came from the top of the hotel into the open air area. Review #37 of 100 in 2021

Yelp
Eclipse is the hotel lobby bar/restaurant of the Hyatt Regency Embarcadaro with that a hotel restaurant entails. You go there for the convenience. While we had drinks and appetizers previously, due to logistics we decided to eat breakfast at the hotel and discovered their brunch. Very impressive for a reasonable price. They handled our large party with no fuss. Nice selection of tradition breakfast items, eggs sausage, bacon, blueberry pancakes, chocolate crepes, as well as smoked salmon with the fixin's, sweet rolls and meats and cheeses. Price doesn't include booze, but I'm sure libations can be had. So yes, a pleasant surprise.
google avatar

Molly Z.

Yelp
If you're staying at the Hyatt then Eclipse is a good option for a nightcap or a little something to eat before bed. We had been out sightseeing all day and wanted a little something to eat. We grabbed a seat and were greeted within a few minutes. I had the chicken potstickers and my husband had the pepperoni and sausage flatbread. Both dishes were okay but not worth the price you pay. However, the prices aren't surprising given that this is a hotel restaurant/bar. They have a bunch of TVs above the bar so it's a good place to watch sports.

Yelp
Came here for happy hours. Got the brussels spout chips and cappuccino. The cappuccino was not bad. Wish the cup was more full. The chips were interesting. It came with a sauce to dip. The atmosphere was interesting and nice. Lots of charging station. Great place for drinks.

Yelp
Review #371 - 2018 When I saw their "Breakfast with Santa" ad on Facebook, I knew I wanted to bring the kids over just for the fun experience of enjoying the Christmas spirit. Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love the month of December. Of course, Christmas is one of the reason, but December is also my birth month so I get to celebrate two big occasions all month long. I brought my 2-year old daughter and my 9-year old niece on Saturday, December 1st around 11:15 AM and there wasn't very many people with kids so I guess it wasn't as popular as I'd thought. The breakfast bar is not as big as I was expecting, and the selections were very simple. You have the usuals: bacon, scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, waffles. They actually had shrimp with grits which was probably my favorite. They had fruits, parfaits, bread and muffins as well. The food itself wasn't that great. The breakfast items didn't seem to stay very warm so it was cold by the time I got back to my table & started eating. Santa came by to sit with us, but the kids weren't on their best behavior & Santa was still trying his best to engage them. I actually felt kind of bad for Santa because the girls were not very attentive. Our server was friendly, and Tony, the manager, was extremely attentive. He made sure that our dining experience was nice and enjoyable. He even kept his eyes on the kids while they were playing under the falling "snow" so I could eat without worrying about them too much since we were seated where I couldn't actually see them. It seems kind of pricey for what you get, but after you factor in the fact that kids eat free for each paying adult, it's not too bad. Kids under 4 eat free, so that was nice because most places only allow kids under 2 to eat free. Hopefully, they will try again next year and have better food selections so I can make this a yearly thing with the kids.

Yelp
The only eclipse to see is my bloated belly covering up the rising sun. We're talking total eclipse, baby! Eclipse Breakfast Buffet/ $28.95 During my business trip to San Francisco, my stay at the Hyatt Regency included breakfast buffets at Eclipse Kitchen & Bar. Located in the world's largest hotel lobby, Eclipse Kitchen & Bar boast seasonal, locally-sourced food on their menu. This includes cage-free eggs, hormone free milk & naturally cured bacon. Being in a hotel lobby, a high price tag is du rigueur, but at Las Vegas buffet level price of admission, let's see how Eclipse' breakfast buffet measures up. Deli meat- https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eclipse-kitchen-and-bar-san-francisco-4?select=e2xO_Sqmmz0p3zs8ZnYbVQ Being a highly enthusiastic carnivore, the deli meat were what I gravitated to the most. The prosciutto was mouth-pleasingly tender & the Genoa salami unctuously salty. But, the one I really piled on my plates every morning was the smoked salmon. Sweet, oily & melt in your mouth, I was correct in not bringing fish oil on my trip, as I managed to pack away a pound of salmon to start my days every morning. Smoked salmon- https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eclipse-kitchen-and-bar-san-francisco-4?select=M3DdrAFLnRTv2S7xVD0TFw Another great dish on the buffet line was the baked corned beef hash. I don't partake of corned beef that much, so this was quite a treat. The crumbs on top provided a wonderful crunch with each bite of oily corned beef. Baked corned beef hash- https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eclipse-kitchen-and-bar-san-francisco-4?select=7T0Lk9fmgbzv7MYIE5psLg Eggs benedict- https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/eclipse-kitchen-and-bar-san-francisco-4?select=c16uwjhhtxqDLgBmq_oMjQ Can't be considered a fancy breakfast place w/o eggs benedict! These more than held their own, as the eggs were cooked correctly. The usual breakfast buffet suspects were well represented. Steel cut oatmeal, an endless mound of naturally cured bacon, scrambled eggs, huevos rancheros & pastries of various ilk. Dessert options had fresh, seasonal fruit & parfaits. Coffee and//or orange juice are included with the buffet. I simply chose seltzer water w/ lime, as OJ gives me GI problems. Service was good. The buffet was constantly stocked with food, and our plates were cleared in a timely manner. Plenty of seating, which I usually chose by the food. Hey, easy access! The Eclipse Kitchen & Bar is located in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero. While I enjoyed the food & service at Eclipse Kitchen & Bar's breakfast buffet, at almost $30 before tax & tip, I wanted more. Granted, it's in a swanky hotel, but I'd have expectations for more swanky eats for the pricepoint. I'm glad it was included with my stay, as I didn't go hungry. In fact, I probably ate enough calories for 3 people after each meal.

Yelp
For the first time last night we met with some friends in this bar to hang out and enjoy but they ruined our night, lousy service! the waitresses treated us badly, aggressive when charging for consumption, one of them ended up yelling at a friend of mine! good luck if you want to visit this bar.

Yelp
So, the staff (host and servers) were amazing! Super packed holiday evening and they still went out of their way to treat my family especially my mom like we were vip's! Second the food was excellent! My two brothers are picky one is vegan and the other is pescatarian, and I eat everything. Oh and my mom is picky too. But the food choices were perfect! And the portions were huge!

Yelp
It's been awhile since I've been here. I like the new layout with business friendly seating for private conversations. We had the fish tacos. 2 nice portions fish in a double corn tacos, pica de gallo sour cream avacado. One of the best fish tacos I've had. Service was okay. Had to wave a server down to pick up the credit card payment.

Yelp
Came here for after dinner drinks. Had never been to this Hyatt, and I heard banghra music as we went up 2 flights on the escalator. They were having a Yoga convention, as we saw from the signs. As we approached the restaurant/lounge, I was amazed by all the twinkling lights hanging above. Felt like a little kid seeing Christmas lights for the first time. We sat in a comfy couch, although the ones across from each other are quite far, so not really able to have a decent conversation from facing so far apart. A waitress came shortly and took our wine orders. We received our glasses (and water since we were so thirsty!) and bill quickly after. I had a glass of rose, that was bit drier for my taste, but still enjoyed it. Definitley like the ambience of this lounge, and service was great.

Yelp
Your standard hotel bar and restaurant. I had breakfast here the first morning at the hotel. I opted for the breakfast buffet - which was pretty good as breakfast buffets go - although very expensive. I had their corned beef hash, which appeared to made from scratch and with real shredded corned beef. I also tried a link of sausage, some bacon, breakfast potatoes, and scrambled eggs, plus a bit of smoked salmon and a glass of pink grapefruit juice. Everything was reasonably hot and tasty. The other times in here were in the evening - a couple of times for a bite to eat and/or drinks. I tried their Burger - I forget what came on it, it was served with some crisp, tasty sweet potato fries and a side of crisp slices of dill pickle. Overall, a good burger . Another evening I got an order of their garlic fries - topped with fresh garlic sauce with herbs in it - very fragrant and pungent - yet the fries still retained that wonderful crispness and texture. They serve a local craft beer here - "Big Daddy IPA" (Speakeasy Ales & Lagers), which is served in bottles. A nice IPA - somewhat on the light side from a hops perspective, but other than that, nicely balanced in terms of citrus and pine notes. They also make a good dirty vodka martini here, although I was disappointed there was no option for blue cheese or gorgonzola stuffed olives (all they offer are standard pimento stuffed olives). Service was good. It can get a bit crazy in here when the bar and lounge area gets packed in the evening - it might take them a few minutes to get your drink to you...

Yelp
I find it extraordinarily insulting and upsetting when restaurants with a captured audience (IE in a hotel) feel that they do not have to try because of that. See my review for Bacchus Wine Bar for a similar experience. We decided to head to the Eclipse restaurant because it was convenient and we were in need of a Bloody Mary, stat. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken in about five minutes of seating. Our water glasses were removed and we had to ask for water to be returned. After our drinks came we then sat for another ten minutes watching about 5 waiters wander around clearing tables, offering juice, and generally ignoring us. We had our menus turned upside down to indicate (shouldn't have had to this) that we were ready to order and still were ignored. Our waitress finally appeared from the back and took our order. I was already ticked off from the wait. I think part of the confusion can be associated with the breakfast buffet as many of the people in the restaurant seemed to take advantage of that (looked super tasty but too pricy for my taste since I wanted a cocktail), yet you would think even in that case when servers have less to do they would be more attentive. I got the corned beef hash with a 'spicy Bloody Mary sauce' and poached eggs (I asked for medium on the eggs). My husband got the two eggs (over easy) with bacon and toast. When our food came out my eggs were decidedly not medium and his were almost cooked through. The sauce with my hash was basically hugely chunked tomatoes from a can and no spice at all. I asked for ketchup. My hash was greasy (although it is corned beef...). Husbands bacon was perfectly crisp and thick and his sourdough toast was cold. Overall we had a mediocre experience. They did comp two of our bloody Mary's for our patience which I appreciated, but would have preferred good service in the first place. This effort did bump them from two stars to three (my husband suspects they saw me taking pictures of the food). I am coming down more and more on ALWAYS venturing out of hotels when getting food, because clearly they don't seem to care.

Yelp
We stayed at the Hyatt Recently and decide to stop by here for a late night drink before heading black to our room. We had looked at the happy hours offerings and nothing seemed that appealing or heavily discounted so we had skipped happy hours and opted to go elsewhere priory to dinner. We were there during last calls and ordered a Karl the Fog and a Bourbon Smash. The drinks took awhile to come and when it did, we realized why. The Karl the Fog is quite a spectacle, it came with a large round block of ice (not the cool clear kind you'd find at a hip bar) and a lid. When the waitress sat it down, she asked if we were ready and lifted the lid and a wisp of smokey cloud starting dissipating out of glass. For $1 more than than Bourbon smash, it was definitely worth it. It was a strong and super smokey drink, but tasty. Bourbon Smash was forgettable. I'd return just to get the Karl the Fog again though.

Yelp
Originally commuted to SF just for One Market's Amanda Blake drink but the darn place was closed (Jan. 2) so we had to resort to another place for alcohol nearby. This place is located inside The Hyatt across the street, upstairs. This place is for those that want a quick drink fix however, service was pretty much nonexistent and the wait time felt forever and I am not just saying that because I am an impatient person. Lora ordered the bayberry, I ordered the mojito, and once Sophorn joined, she too had the bayberry. Although in the end Lora and I switched drinks, I enjoyed the bayberry but there was no hint of alcohol, just juice and rather sweet so if you like pineapples and/or a drink that literally has no alcohol then order the bayberry. The girls ordered Thai wings or something which came w/ a heaping amount of crispy wings and drummettes, it came w/ a side of cucumber slaw. I only had a few pieces of the slaw but none of the wings since they are fried and goes against my New Year's resolution. Woot woot for damn willpower. In the end- juice for fancy alcohol price however, time w/ the girls? Priceless.

Yelp
Excellent service. Excellent food. Excellent ambience. There are 6 TVs to watch sports games and plenty of seats for many customers. They have a great wine selection and strong cocktails!

Yelp
Looooove the decor. There are giant hanging Christmas lights which beautifies the place. During Christmas, they host a snow fall event which is pretty neat for those of us who haven't seen snow (SAD RIGHT?). It's a very chill environment. I definitely like the couches they have for customers to lounge in. Very comfortable and quiet. Came here for happy hour. Ordered chicken wings $14 and garlic fries $6. Our waiter was telling us that a friend of his counted about 64 fries. I would count, but I lost track after 3 because at that point, I was just shoveling up fries. The fries were good but not garlicky enough. There were 3 whole chicken wings that came with barbecue sauce. Fried well but the flavor was lacking. Great service, beautiful place to be, comfortable, but when it comes to food, I've had better elsewhere at a better price. Even with Osha Thai, they had expensive small portion wings but they were delicious as hell!

Yelp
Sketchy. My friends and I went there at around 5. We were staying at the hotel. I heard the lady next to us ask our waiter to see the happy hour menu. He was like, "oh I don't know..." and she replied that the night before, the waitress gave her one. And it WAS happy hour. Till 5:30. It was like he didn't want her to order from the happy hour menu. His reply was, "Okay, let me check." It took awhile for us to get our drinks. They were fine, but when we got our checks, there was an extra $18 charge, $9 each for the beer flights in addition to the $18 they cost. I asked what the extra charges were for. He said it was just marked that way, that if we added them up, the total was right. My friends and I did add all of the drinks up, and there was still the extra charge. He came back, and said, "Oh, yes, there are extra charges. Let me fix that." He may have seen us with our calculator out. In any case, he had them removed. I don't know what he was trying to get away with, but it didn't work. Did he think that because we had drinks, we weren't paying attention? I don't know, but it was all very suspicious, like he was just trying to get us to pay an extra $9 for each beer flight. Yeah, right, $27 for a beer flight?! You're out of your mind. Avoid this place. Whoever that waiter was sucked.

Yelp
Over-priced drinks, judgmental wait staff, and charging you for items they told you were out of stock equals a not great experience. This is partially my fault because I was with a group and didn't confirm all charges before I paid. But it shouldn't have been charged to us in the first place, so there's that. First, they refuse to split a check - even 2 ways, even asking to pay at the bar, if you sit with a group, you HAVE to be on one check. This isn't the wait staff's fault, but it is quite inconvenient. One person ordered a Blue Moon, she came back and told us they were out and the person ordered another beer. No problem. Until I was looking at the check later and noticed the Blue Moon on the receipt - along with the other beer (and the blue moon was more expensive!). What the actual hell. Overcharge for a drink we never got - a drink that was more expensive - but still got charged for the replacement drink, too. Also, the waiter was very unaccommodating and extremely rude. I made a reservation ahead of time and yes, some of my group was late, but the majority was there, in their seat, within 15 minutes of the reservation time. And they weren't very busy with empty tables all over the area we were. But she made it very clear how unaccommodating WE were, being a party of 8 (and yes, all of my party did eventually show up). This is fine to go to for A drink - one - once. To see the cool interior. But I won't go back. It's not that great, cocktails were minimum $15, food was...fine. But there are many better bars in the city, and way more restaurants with much better staff who don't charge you for items they're out of and be rude to your group throughout. I understand waiting tables is not easy especially when you are probably understaffed, but I didn't do that to you and we were a good group.

Yelp
Stayed at the Hyatt for a night and wanted to catch the football game and we got lucky this bar was inside our hotel. Plenty of tv screens, nice and comfortable chairs. We got truffle fries which were amazingggg with the sauce they serve with it. The pretzel bites and cheese fondue was my favorite...perfect to pair with a nice cold beer, which they have plenty of at the bar. Also every day is happy hour from 3-5:30. Our service was excellent and I will definitely keep this place in mind for future visits.

Yelp
I was staying at this hotel for a conference and at one lunch and one dinner at Eclipse Kitchen and Bar. I sat at the bar both times. I was greeted promptly and felt attended to throughout my meals. I made some friends during dinner while watching some Thursday night football games that were also hotel guests. The quality of the food was fantastic. I had a burger for one meal and fish tacos for another and was satisfied and would recommend both. The food was good portions and came out in a timely manner. I mean, you expect it to take some time, and that's fine, but I also went at smart dining times when the kitchen probably wasn't too busy. They had a good variety of drinks and even let me sample a few specials they were trying for an event. I appreciated the free test beverage and friendly servers. There are a million places to go and eat nearby but I wouldn't could this place out. It's got a great staff, great food selection and cozy atmosphere for being in a hotel lobby.

Yelp
Service was outright terrible. Asked the bar tender if they were doing table service and was told yes. Two tables sat 5 minutes after us and we were the third table addressed by the waiter. When he finally took our order, he stopped and took the order for a table of 6 on the way back. He was 10 feet from the service counter to submit our drinks before taking theirs. We got there before them but because he waited, our drinks were delayed until after their items. BS! He came back 30 minutes after delivering our drinks to ask if we wanted anything and at that point, we wanted the check. Again, third party given our check. Needless to say, he got a $0.25 tip so he knew we left something but nothing else. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible experience.

Yelp
Meh. Pretty cool scene for a hotel bar. I thought this bar used to be in another location of the hotel - but during the remodel, I guess it moved? Good selection of beers on tap. A rotating happy hour food menu. That's good. The only thing I wish was that service might've been a little faster. I understand pacing between courses, but between order, first drink, checking in, things were pretty spaced out. Yes, it was mildly busy... but customer service? Booths are pretty fun. That's probably what drew us there. Not the cheapest in town. $19 something for a beer and Jack & coke. But not highway robbery either.

Yelp
Surprisingly good food given that it is a hotel restaurant. It has great views of the beautiful big atrium. Everything we ate was pretty good. My fave was the soba noodles and pot de creme. Efficient and friendly service.

Yelp
Come here for the prison food! No joke, in conjunction with the Hyatt Regency's "Alcatraz: Life on the Rock" exhibit, Eclipse is serving an updated interpretation of the prison's menu from now until October. http://bit.ly/18N5OUT Did you know that Alcatraz actually prided itself on serving inmates relatively healthy/tasty food from locally sourced ingredients? If that's not farm-to-table, don't know what is! Old menus were examined and re-created on tin trays to commemorate the occasion... We're talking comfort food at its best too: Stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, roasted zucchini squash, spaghetti (for Al Capone, of course!), short ribs and mac 'n' cheese! This lucky lady right here didn't have to break any laws or don an orange jumpsuit to try the food, either! Nope, I was simply invited to attend a special unveiling. Intriguing, yes? Obviously it's a novelty menu, paying homage to a life that likely none of us ever experienced (or will have to). Even if you got sent "up the river" these days, your meals would likely be serviced by Aramark or whatever large food service company was lucky enough to land a government contract. From what we were told, prisoners at Alcatraz helped prepare the food and were allowed to go back for seconds, assuming they finished everything on the tray. When you've wiped that plate clean, go explore the lobby atrium! There's a replica jail cell, complete with bars on the wall. Makes for an excellent profile pic. And no, you cannot sleep in here at a discounted price (apparently there have been some inquiries at the hotel proper). Read all about life as an Alcatraz inmate OR simply book a ticket to visit the island proper. After all, orange is the new black, right?

Yelp
The Eclipse Restaurant at the Hyatt Regency is good to keep in mind for the right occasion. I met a good friend here because she swears by it for lunch. I understand why, as I had a deliciously well-prepared piece of grilled salmon on a bed of mixed greens and lentils. At $19, it's a business meal price, and not just a place to head from the office for a bite. For business meals, this is a pretty and quiet space. The open atrium provides a bit of atmosphere and the tables are well spaced, allowing for easy conversation. The service was timely and pleasant. Lunch pricing: The starters are $8 - $15 Lunch salads are $14 - $18 Sandwiches and fish tacos $15 - $16 Entrees are $14 - $19 If you want some of the same experience, but care to dine elsewhere, the adjacent Eclipse Lounge is decent place to have a drink. Not a destination, but a hotel-convenient spot for a drink. Wines start at $9. The Franciscan chardonnay is a good choice. I like the Estancia pinot noir as well.

Yelp
Perfect place to ask for a toasted bagel and get a chewy microwaved one instead. Being in such a nice hotel, you would think a toaster would be available and equally the amount of effort as throwing bread in a microwave.

Yelp
After wandering on the Embarcadero to soak in the gorgeous views of the bay (and the frigidly cold weather), my friends and I found ourselves in search of alcohol to warm our bodies. Unfortunately, casual bar options are apparently slim by the Ferry Building at 10:00 on a Friday night, so we opted for the Hyatt's hotel bar out of convenience. Maybe next time, we'll search a little harder. After grabbing a table, I ordered a Diamond Gin and Tonic for my first round. Now, if you know what makes it "diamond", please feel free to let me know. Other than running for $12, I'm not too sure what sets it apart from a regular sort of gin and tonic - it was pretty average. After that, we just switched to beer for our second/last round to keep it light (didn't pay for that one, so not sure how much those cost). Feeling a little hungry, we also decided to order a snack to split for the table. I'm not sure if this was the exact name, but we ended up ordering the Olde English Club Sandwich (turkey, bacon, fried egg, lettuce, and tomato) that came with a side of seasoned fries. The sandwich was actually pretty decent compared to most I've had (I credit the fried egg), but I think the fries were the winner. It's hard not to like crispy french fries (especially with a drink in hand), but it's harder to say that it was worth it when it was $15. Service is pretty mediocre - they got the job done, but could certainly be better...and faster. Once we were ready to go, it took quite some time for our check to be brought to us, and just as long for them to bring back the tab for the slip to be signed. Despite about a half dozen staff members just kind of hanging out at the bar together, it seems like no one was able to help our table table except for our specific waitress, who would disappear from time to time. Talk about inefficient. Situated in the lobby of the Hyatt, the relaxed ambiance and attractive decor are the only redeeming qualities. Considering options are a little light in the financial district area at night, it's not terrible if you're a tourist or in the area, but certainly not a place to go out of the way for. Especially considering they close pretty damn early for a bar.

Yelp
I was here to meet up with friends and decided to end the night with a few cocktails before bed. The biggest draw to this bar is the eclectic group of people you'll meet at the bar and the friendly bartenders. You will enjoy a relaxed environment with an impressive backdrop of artwork of the San Francisco Bay Bridge, an open space with a rich, modern palette, and a great dining experience. Located in the world's largest hotel lobby, If you want a signature cocktail, nice appetizers or just meet some cool people this is the place to go if you're in the area.

Yelp
Pretty pricey but it was good. Pot stickers were delicious! There have a good happy hour selection but not very good discounts.

Yelp
Surprisingly good food in this hotel restaurant/bar, and reasonably priced considering the quality. The butter lettuce salad and mushrooms with polenta were both delightful as an afternoon snack. Happy hour goes from 4:30-6:30 and includes $5 wells as well as a rotating $4 beer. If you're staying at the Hyatt and are hungry, try this place out. Late night the staff gets a bit less impressive. Our waitress double billed us for a drink, and misrepresented what was actually in a drink. When the menu says strawberry purée without the word FRESH it means they're using that craptastic daiquiri mix. Don't order it! She did correct the 'error' on the bill, but it took a while.
