In a neighborhood of so-so pizza, Eda’s stands out - Review - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Eda’s Pizzeria is the only place in Philly to get New Haven-style pizza, a statement that would hold no weight if the pizzas were subpar. But their combination of quality ingredients on deliciously light yet charred, thin-crust pizzas has the goods to make it the best pizza in Manayunk. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo video credit: Nicole Guglielmo Pause Unmute The shop is inside Lucky’s Trading Co., along with two other fast-casual restaurants, so the scene is more of a revolving door of friends making pizza pit stops than it is groups hanging out. The constant crowds on gameday and the weekend do mean you’ll be in for a wait, likely near stacked tube TVs or Gritty artwork (we recommend calling ahead). You should make the call, since there are no bad options on the menu—including the seasonal pies, like the spring vegetable, which is a good, charred, spinach-heavy, cheesy bet. And classics like their margherita and specialties like razor-thin potato and rosemary are what occupy our thoughts after coming here. Well, maybe we get jump scares about that image of nude Gritty, too. Food Rundown Potato And Rosemary The pizzas here only come in one 18” size. And this seasonal one (a summer pie) is like a giant UFO covered in tender potatoes, mozzarella, and finely grated rosemary, which is more like confetti over each inch. It’s fragrant, rich, and we’re sure if the aliens did come to Earth with a ship made out of this pizza, our defense plan would be just to eat it. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo New Haven Tomato Pie We take tomato pie seriously. So, when anyone says they’re giving it a remix, we’re more skeptical than if we get a phone call from a long-lost relative offering us $1,000,000. However, this pie succeeds because it keeps the focus on the sweet, tangy red basil sauce. The thin crust remains structurally sound and serves as a good, blistered mattress for the whole thing. It’s not going to make you give up the breadier, focaccia-like version, but you won’t regret your order. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo Margherita This thing is wet. We’re talking a saucy ocean with mozzarella islands sticking and a bubbly ring holding it all together. It hits all the classic margherita notes. Order it. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo White Sausage & Broccoli Rabe If you’re in the mood for a spicy kick, this is the only pizza on the menu with heat. A little bitterness from the broccoli rabe here, a little pile of peppery sausage there, it’s a crackly white pie that makes up for a lack of sauciness with gooey strands of mozzarella. Fair trade. photo credit: Nicole Guglielmo" - Candis R. McLean

The Best Break-Up Spots In Philly This Summer - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"A casual pizza shop at a trading post might be a little nonchalant, but so was the way they replied “sure” every time you asked them if you looked nice. Eda’s Pizzeria in Manayunk offers a place to do a no-muss, no-fuss breakup and have some quality sausage pizza. The New Haven-style pizza place is a go-to for takeout orders, especially on game day. So, with the lack of a crowd, you’ll have plenty of privacy to bite into beautifully thin-crusted pies, play a few rounds of Battleship, and sink your love boat for once and for all." - candis mclean

The 14 Best Bar & Restaurants In Manayunk - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Manayunk, until now, had one great pizza shop (RIP, Pizza Jawn) and an ever-growing roster of so-so ones. But with its deliciously light yet charred, thin-crust, New Haven-style pizza, Eda’s is primed to crack the list of the neighborhood’s go-tos. With classics like margherita and specialties like potato and rosemary or clam with thick-cut bacon on the menu, it can be hard to choose which to go for. But every pizza we’ve tried is a good, cheesy bet. Join the procession of folks on game days and weekends grabbing pizzas to go, or sit back in the retro-fitted dining space, play a round of UNO with friends, and split an $18 pie that takes up half the wooden picnic table." - candis mclean

Google
Margherita pizza was great! Really liked the sauce and will get it again. It's New Haven style so it's thinner and has more char and less oily. From reading some of the other reviews I'm not sure people realize how charred and crispy New Haven style pizza typically is. This was actually less rigid than a Sally's/Pepes pizza from New Haven which have super stiff thin crust almost like a pizza dough cracker. This was still thin crust but a bit more substantial like a typical pizza and not extremely crisp/rigid, maybe to help appeal to the masses more. Phoned in a take out order and it was ready on time. Card only.

Let me start by saying that I have been a fan since the beginning. I've been a customer since the first days opening. But my experience getting pizza here has progressively been getting worse. The quality of the cooking of the pizzas have been horrible. I've had multiple burnt pies, uneven cooking, and raw uncooked toppings. Tonight was the second time I've ordered a pie and had burnt areas and uneven cooking.

Decided to give Eda's a try on the way to pick up and was very impressed. The pies were clearly handmade and not bulk produced. The crust was very crispy even more than 30 minutes after I picked them up and got home. The sausage and broccoli rabe was unique and savory with a nice bitter/garlicky taste. The Margherita was amazing as well. We hadn't had really high-end pizza in some time. Can't wait to try more flavors.

Google
Excellent New Haven style pizza. Crispy crust, great flavor in the dough and toppings. I took it to go but should’ve just ordered and eaten it there. The pizzas were gorgeous. Not a bad thing to say.

Google
Top tier pizza place in 2025. Nostalgia. New Haven style, the space. It’s all a 10. I got the pep and a little more than half survived the car ride. I’ll be back to do something about the rest of the menu

Google
---EDIT--- Eda's made up for the subpar pies they sold me. They have plenty of good reviews so don't let mine scare you away from giving them a shot and making your own judgment. They are an honest business. I think you can rest assured that if they mess your order up, they'll make it up to you. ------- I've been wanting to try this place for months. Finally decided to treat the family to pizza night. Unfortunately this pizza was bad.....like very bad. I don't think the pizza they gave me was representative of their normal quality, but that's solely based on their Instagram posts and other people's reviews. Yes, I know what New Haven style pizza is. Yes, I know what well-done pizza is. This was neither of those things. I like a little char on my crust. I like bubbles. This was more than a char. We threw more than half of it away, which I never throw food away. I spent $61 there and I regret every cent of it that wasn't spent on the Hank's Cream Sodas lol. Again, I think it was an off-night for them, but I can't give this place more than 1-star. I hope others have a better experience.

Google
Returned to Eda’s last night, it’s been so yummy we couldn’t just give up! They very kindly made up for our one bad pizza by treating us to last night’s pie! Crust was crispy and delicious, the cheese and sauce were perfect! The service has always been terrific, friendly and attentive. If you haven’t tried Eda’s yet, go today! You’ll go back again and again! We’re so sad! Eda’s had become our favorite go-to pizzeria, but no more. Our pizza is dried out, overcooked and just plain awful. What happened?

Google
I wanted to like Eda’s more than I did. I truly did. I tried while my family was in town and ordered 3 pies. - [ ] New Haven tomato - because we had to try it - [ ] One pep - [ ] One sausage They have heart and are trying to make a New Haven pie. It is just not there. There were some dark spots, but it was so limp and had a slight crispiness to it we all felt disappointed. And it was missing that distinctive char. They don’t have coal-fired ovens, a prerequisite for a NH pie. The next day, I heated it on 550 pizza steel, and it crisped up nicely. Maybe they rushed to get the pies out on a busy Friday night. I wish they had a clam pie to try, and the guy said they are hoping to get one. There’s something about the original Frank Pepe’s ovens that can’t be replicated here in Philly. Don’t get me wrong, it was a solid pie but maybe call it “New Haven” with the quotes to warn those who know what New Haven pizza is so they go in better armed. For the area, I would go to a few other places first, Paulie Gees and Pizzeria Vetri, to name a few.

Yelp
My first New Haven style pizza won't be my last. We inhaled the classic red- perfectly crisp bottom, nice char on the crust and a great balance of sauce and cheese. It was light and even though we ate almost all of it, we didn't feel grossly full. Will definitely go back!

Yelp
New Haven inspired pizza. Charred thin crust with copious cheese and tomato sauce. Sometimes the edges were a little over charred. Delicious. Accepts credit cards. They have a dining area with basic bo games and cards.

Yelp
Wow! This pizza was a 5 star, 10 outta 10 pizza. This is a must have if you like New Haven pizza. This type of pie may not everyone's cup of tea but the no flop think crust baked well done pie was executed beautifully. This was also 18" slightly bigger than the standard sixteen inch pies from around here. Went with the garlic and bacon which was sliced up into 18 slices. Personally I like a more crispy bacon but this was cooked medium and a little fatty but worked well. I am deducting one star because they promised me a 5:30 pick up time but ended up giving g away my pizza before I got there so had to put another in the over. For a place that only takes cards and best way to order is to call, I was expected the pick up process to be more dialed in.

Yelp
Ordered takeout from here and it was a pretty good option known for New Haven style pizzas. I was a bit nervous because the menu is a bit limited. In the end, it was pretty decent pizza. The crust thickness was on the thinner side but I didn't really mind it here (and I think this is characteristic of the New Haven style). The pie we got (ricotta & meatball) had lumps of ricotta mixed throughout the meatballs which could have been a bit too rich as it was so so creamy but it wasn't. It did, however overpower the other ingredients ever so slightly. The pie was enormous and we had plenty left over. Would consider going back to try their other options.

Yelp
It's legit New Haven pizza. The only thing lacking is white clam pizza. They even have Foxon soda! The folks behind the counter were nice!

Yelp
I've had Sally's ,Frank Pepe's and a few other pizzas in New Haven. Eda's is nothing like them, Edas is not Hew Haven style in any way. The potato and rosemary was oily, and soggy. The potatoes were too thick & the rosemary was dried not fresh so it had no flavor . The cheese pizza had no crunch either and I order both well done . Very disappointing! Would not go back!

Yelp
I finally had a chance to check out Eda's Pizzeria last night and it did not disappoint! First, Eda's is one of many new places tucked into the Lucky's Roadside site. It has limited hours, at least at this point, so be prepared to plan a bit ahead if you are hoping to grab a pie. They have options to buy a pie with toppings or a few of what I'd call signature pies. I went with the Garlic and Bacon. It was a red pie with a decent amount of bacon and an overload of garlic (which was exactly what I was looking for). Prices are reasonable for the size and quality. They did seem to slice the pie into smaller pieces than I'd expected, but that might be helpful for those sharing with tons of people. Since they are inside shared space, there is not much room to eat-in, however, they have a few tables if you do not feel like carrying everything out. Overall, an endorsement for Eda's from me!

Yelp
I'd never had New Haven-style pizza before, but this place is easily one of the best around. The flavor, crunch, cheese, and sauce are all spot on--everything you want in a great pizza.

Yelp
Lucky's Trading Co. is a whole vibe and I love it. I stopped in previously to grab a burger, noticing that there were three menus posted: burgers, hoagies, and pizza. I just had to come back to try all three! Eda's is a very simple pizzeria with no frills. You can order a plain cheese and add standard toppings like pepperoni, bacon, sausage, etc. There are a handful of speciality pies and one seasonal option. The staff here aren't just friendly; they're awesome. I love that they proudly brandish tattoos and piercings, bandanas, and that whole old school punk aesthetic. I was dressed correctly when I dropped in. They're total sweethearts and were so willing to chat up this extrovert. I called ahead and my order was ready on time. The chick at the counter encouraged me to try their other location located on Main Street in Manayunk, which I might just have to do soon. The 18" bacon and garlic came out to $23, which is totally reasonable. It had that brick oven, slightly charred crust and no frills look. It wasn't overly greasy like some joints, but at the same time they were entirely focused on flavor, not trying to make it into health food. The bacon was delicious and I could appreciate the little chunks of garlic that made the pizza mouthwatering. I totally ate half of the pizza while drinking beer and watching a movie, so I can tell you that while it's not super dense or filling, it's extremely tasty. There's plenty of seating in the trading post, but I get the feeling that most order ahead and take their food to go. This seems like the type of spot straight out of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic and I mean that in the best way possible.

Yelp
This place is incredible and has delicious pizza!! The pricing of the pizza is unfortunately very high considering the size of the pizza but it is a solid treat yourself meal that will leave you feeling satisfied and craving it for the future
google avatar

Yelp
It's delicious. I drive 15-20 mins because it's one of the few pizza places close to me I love. The meatball & ricotta is my favorite. They do a white with potato and rosemary that's out of control good. Thank the baby Jesus for Eda's.

Ryan B.

Yelp
Best pizza in Philly! Get mushrooms and garlic for a combo, you won't be disappointed! The pie has a great crisp, cheese has a punch to it and the sauce has flavor. You won't be disappointed! Seems odd coming from a sandwich spot, but they're on to something here! It says it all when their plain cheese stands out!

Tyler Z.

Yelp
Great pizza, totally worth the risk of having to hunt for a spot on ridge to pick up. Bonus onion strings from luckys in the same building

Yelp
The pepperoni and onion pizza was very good. I wish it was crispier but maybe I just need to ask for that next time. The people working there were very friendly. Also, they had a really cool and unique selection of sodas. I would come back and think more people need to know about this place. Definitely a top 10 pizza in Philly area.

Dan L.

Yelp
This pizza is excellent! New Haven style. Thin crust with a great crunch. The service was great, this is a cool place to visit, unique products for sale

Katie F.

Yelp
Such amazing apizza! I'm originally from CT and this was a total taste of home. The crust was perfect and didn't flop, the sauce was a perfect compliment to the cheese and toppings. We ordered 2 pies and had leftovers and those reheated incredibly well. If you've never had New Haven pizza and want to try it, Eda's is completely the real deal!

Maggie S.

Yelp
Very good pizza. Thin crust. Quick for ordering. Not much like it around Philly. Can't wait to get it again.

Kyle L.

Yelp
Really great New England style pizza; nice to have a place like this around in Philadelphia.
